Luang Prabang, Laos, Louangphrabang
Chennai Restaurant - Halal restaurant in Louangphrabang, Laos
Lao food is very good , worth for the money, good river looking view and friendly owner
The food was good, but the service is terrible. We ordered 3 naans, only two came and they were 10 minutes apart (after serving us the main course). Only one of the staff speaks English, but the others don’t even know or signal to us what we ordered (so we had to guess which meal is which). It’s not their fault, as probably nobody showed them how to do it..I wouldn’t come here again…Edit: we got the 3rd naan about 15-20 minutes after the 2nd (which came 10 minutes after 1st)
We had Indian tea and Papad. Both were good, team was courteous:
We (group of 4 had lao noodle soup and 5 Indian items. Not good. I think they microwaved some items. Nothing tasted fresh. Service slow. And noodle soup expensive (25,000 kipand so were Indian items.Better Indian food available elsewhere.⁸
Not very good Indian food. Very slow, not cheap. Ordered indian and lao food. Kao soi expensive and not very authentic.. seemed like made from a package.I also have tried food panda takeaway of their Indian food. Not good either. Tried again but never again.Go to other Indian places in LPB, not here.
Nice place & variety food..very Recommended
really delicious indan food recommended
There kitchen is very dirty, I don’t know how hygienic their food is. Even though food tastes ok. Service is very poor, you have to ask again and again if you need anything else.
Nice riverside restaurant with Indian and Laotian food.
Very nice Indian foods. Very tasty and spicy. Good staffs.
One of the halal stall that can get in Luang Prabang
Nice food nice view
Good food..halal...just nearby mekong river...the chef from johor malaysia...thai food n indian food also roti canai...
Tried the chicken keema curry, garlic naan and samosas. Food was alright, could use some more spices. Cheap, though. Good mango lassi too. No beer!
For those who thought the two Indian guys are trying to rip you off... relax. They are just not good with math. Gave them 50K note and 5k note for a 35K bill and they didnt know how much to give back in change. Eventually (good 4min laterthey figured it out. Food is decent. Not all that Authentic because they just dont have access to the right ingredients. Palak paneer is made with tofu rather than Paneer. Good place to get something different to eat in LPQ. I enjoyed their egg roti (which is made infront of youand chicken biryani.
We really need spicy Indian food sometimes!
Good Indian food (not amazing). Very good location. I did not get sick at all. Probably not the best Indian food but an excellent escape from Laotian food. The Indian guys in charge may look cold at the beginning but they are not and they speak very good English. You will have a very good experience overall.
Pleasant venue up some pretty steep stairs. Maybe 5 or 6 tables and a small stage for traditional dancers, who were very good. Three skilled musicians also played. Very good Laotian food.
We had the meal twice at this place. Meals were not that great, they dont really know how to make the chapati so gave them a few tips as I am a chef myself. The best point for this place is the view of the mighty Mekong River, one can sit here for hours and watch the activities in the river but wouldnt get bored. Price of meal is a little steep too.
Went there twice, first experience was OK, had a biryani shrimp which was served in a very small portion but second experience was the worst. I have ordered dal fry which was just disgusting and not as the dal I use to have and cheese nan which was everything except a cheese nan. I have published some pictures to illustrate my experience. Never again..
very nice Indian food , original!
Please, dont come here. EVER. My wife and I were passing by and asked the guy how much the beer Lao (big bottlewas. He said 10k and we went in.Right away he brought our beer and a couple of menus. Ok, we didnt want to eat but it wouldnt hurt to take a look at the menu and maybe order some food later on.10min later the guy comes and asks what do we want to eat. We say were ok with beer only and then he says if we dont order food the beer is 15k. I try to argue but my wife says its not worth it, so we leave half the beer, a 10k bill and leave.Even a few other customers tried to help us.STAY AWAY.
Great view and prices were very reasonable considering the location. Portions are certainly big enough. I had curry, garlic naan and a delicious mango lassi for 75,000 kip.
It was the bad experience because we found stapler in the food and food quality was bad and they are drowning the indian name in the term of food quality
Small portions, tourist prices. Paid 20 k for paneer butter masala (taste good, as good as it can get for Laos, however small portionand 35 k (!for two pieces of bread.Upsides is the location.
If you need break from Laotian food check out this Indian restaurant. Good-size helpings and very tasty. Buy beer and/or wine from across the street. If there at sunset a great view will be had.
It was overall a fair experience. The good-1)The food & service both was okay.2)The location was really good.3The staff was really good and smiling. The bad1)nothing aa such, prices are little up but as per the location and availability of Indian food, its okay.
Good Indian food at affordable price.
Great curry, and beer by the river, just what I needed makes a change from rice and noodles. Friendly owner.
Great and authentic Indian restaurant run by lovely Indian man. He cooks delicious dosa, rasam, biryani, thali, samosa and many other dishes. Try the lassi, it’s amazing! We ate here multiple times and were beyond satisfied each time! Good selection of both South and North Indian dishes.
Highly recommend this place! Some of the best Indian food outside of India. I really enjoyed the garlic naan, stuffed paratha, dal makhani, aloo gobi, and chicken do pyaza (which they don’t technically have on the menu, but having lived in India, I knew what I was after). The river views are an added bonus.
its best place for Indian delicious cuisine
Never eat at this cheat lying bastard place guys! Heres why:1. The Indian guy, I assume its owner try to deceive us by giving us change less than he should. Please check before you leave2. The same Indian guy charge us more then stated in menu. I ordered coconut juice, but they give me coconut with 2x higher price
Good food for Muslim traveler to Luang Prabang. They serve Indian, Malaysia, and also Lao Food. The price is good and affordable and so do the food. It is located just beside Mekong River, so we have river view while eating the food. Highly recommended.
Authentic Indian.Excellent food right on the Mekong. Dosai are fab here
I have eaten butter chicken in Indian restaurants all over the World and in India as well. What they serve here is nowhere like it. Same for rice and naan. The taste wasnt bad, and I would give them 4 stars if they didnt call it an Indian restaurant.
Had chicken samosa its not cooked properlyI complained but no useBut their Garlic naan is goodNext day I had fried rice its goodOverall ok
Nice Indian Restaurant. I am a Indian so i can say the food was tasty and had a authentic Indian taste ! :)
I had the Non veg thali and all the food was good and tasty.
Nice surprise to find a delicious Indian Thali with a beautiful view of the Mekong!
delicious and authentic Indian food! I highly recommend. Also nice staff and good prices plus you are overlooking Mekong.
Delicious food, a little safe on the spiciness. Service was poor.
Food was soooo good! Tasty and special! We enjoyed it very much! The restaurant has seats with river view wich gives it a nice, calm atmosphere. Prices are avarage to Luang Prabang, Tali was expencive (50,000 kip).It took more than 45 minutes for the food to arrive- therefore the 4 stars and not 5.
The only place in Luang Prabang when you crave Indian food. The food though is good and the setting besides Mekon river even better. It may seem pricey as compared to street shops but it has a restaurant feel. Dal chawal was heavenly. Potion size is pretty good too. Give it a visit for one meal in Luang Prabang.
Delicious food, great service, good selection, well priced. Cant fault
One of three halal restaurant in Luang Prabang. The food is nice but quite pricey. It is understandable because hard to get resources there.
Great place to get a curry. Prices were reasonable. I would say the portions were a tad on the small size. Would have liked to see bigger portions better for sharing.
Great Indian food, probably the best in town!
Authentic Indian food and good view too.
Good value thali, veg and non veg. Friendly staff.
