Chellberg Farm - National park in Gary, United States
Nice hike and history. Cemetery was worth the little walk.
Peaceful morning at Chellberg
Nice 1 day getaway from Chicago.Peaceful vibes.
There was a ranger there to provide historic information. There was also a lady there baking on the old stove. There were no farm animals where we could see them.
Nice folk band at the farm. Very pleasant.
So much to do, just bring sunscreen!!!
Very cool spot. Dunes Succession trail and homestead area were awesome
A throw back to 18 centuryVisited Chellberg Farms for maple harvesting journey and great trails
A fun place to visit and hike. There are cows, chickens and historic buildings to enjoy. Maple syrup time is popular for good reason.
Great place to visit and for hiking
Many different things to see along with the cows and chickens.
Pretty trees! And there are a few cows, chickens and pigs. A quiet and quaint area away from the beach crowd. We didn’t get to experience the whole area but 3 stars for the things we did get to see with the toddlers.
Neat old farm, dog friendly! I hope they open the house for tours soon.
Awesome place to visit! Definitely worth a trip!
Great trails!
One of the best places in Indiana
Great hiking! It can get a bit muddy in the spring and summer and a bit icy in the winter.
Trails upon trails for miles on end! The beauty and diversity of the land can be fully appreciated at this place. The farm has a handful of different animals including: pigs, cows, chickens and more, not including the wild animals. On my first trip here, I saw chipmunks, a large woodpecker, amongst a slew of other wild animals.
Great place to get away for a couple hours
Love the trails and homestead. Cool place to walk around for a couple hours.
This place is so beautiful. One of my favorite places in Indiana. I recently had some visitors from south Georgia come and visit and they loved it here as well.
We come here every weekend and the pigs never have food or water and the poor cows always have flies on them they look miserable I dont think they feed or water the animals on the weekends so they shouldnt have animals if they arent gonna take care of them makes me so sad to see them like this
Beautiful piece of history and trail behind it as well.
Wonderful place to hike and see how life was in the past.
Maple Sugar Time Festival! Go to this (it occurs in the spring)! Great for kids and even for adults. Its about an hour guided edicational hike. Its also quite a sensory experience. Kids can drill a tap into a stump. The smell of boiling maple sap is FANTASTIC. There are animals to pet (they smell less fantastic), samples to taste, forest and farmhouse to see, stories to hear. The Parks Department staff and volunteers are excellent. They seem knowledgeable and friendly; I learned bits of American history, biology of trees, and climate science in the hour I was at the Maple Sugar Festival. Im sure other events are similarly valuable.Im also impressed with the accessibility at the farm. There are wheelchair ramps at (and insidethe historic farmhouse. For the trails, there are tracked machines that can carry a wheelchair with a person on it. The trails are wide and well cared for.
Nice old homestead with rustic outbuildings..natural trails to run or walk on
Very nice hiking and visit back in time!
Always a great, easy hike. Kids love feeding the animals on Sundays and walking to the cemetery
Great place for family fun
I liked it was peaceful. The 🐎 were big. And pretty liked petting. Them would recommend it. Five stats
For 31 years I have been coming here and it is so relaxing. Beautiful forests and trails and now a growing collection of animals including chickens, turkeys , pigs, cows, horses and all the natural ones and birds! The festivals are great too. Get OUT of your home and IN to this park.
This a smallish, somewhat historic farm at the Indiana Dunes. There is one main barn that you can walk through and a couple of interesting, informative signs posted. There are quite a few turkeys and a handful of other animals including a large and somewhat amusing pig. Not a place to spend a lot of time but a nice stop when hiking the beautiful connected trails. There is a free parking lot very near the farm that has covered picnic tables.
Nice trails and the animals were fun to see. Great place to bring a family
A gem of a farm hidden in the Dunes area .
The farm is a great experience for families. A historical home, oldest standing barn in Indiana, live farm animals; chickens, cows, pigs, goats and turkeys seasonally. Great hiking trails and connection to Bailly Homestead.Part of the Indiana Dunes National Park
Beautiful
Such an interesting little corner of Indiana history, if you have the time stop by and give it a look.
It used to have lots more animals and stuff to do. A good hiking spot tho
Nice clean trails
Great exploring
very pice full.
Always an excellent place to go walking and look around, lots to see if you take your time and are observant!
The Maple Sugar Fest was great despite the cold and educational. Our Ranger guide Alex shared lots of information and seemed to enjoy what he did and showing our group around.
This farm is so fun, they have the cutest chickens! ;)
Your pigs need Water
Needs better trail markings. Loved it.
Quiet and kept well. Too bad the house was getting worked on.
Nice little, unexpected treasure. Love the old house, animals were great, the cemetery was very unexpected. Worth a stop. Would want to hike more.
Great place to go hiking an take photos an dont forget the maple syrup time in March
Almost no educational display signs explaining the farm. Some people were building turkey coops while we visited. We asked if they would have had turkeys and were told probably not. Not sure why they were building them then. Couple of pigs, cows and some chickens. Not too much to see here.
