Large natural preserve with marked trails for scenic gorge hikes crossing streams & bridges.
Amazing place to go for a hike, food, nature, or just otherwise relax. There are lots of food trucks, big parking lot, multiple hiking trails and lots of other things to see. The best part is that this place is about 30 minutes away from Cluj-Napoca. For some adrenaline, there are zip lines available, ATV renting and more.
The landscape is nice, but for sure there are other mountains close by that can worth visiting. It became really touristic, a lot of fast food trucks just at the beginning of the routes made me feel totally uncomfortable, not a natural sightseeing for me… I recommend the route for a family with kids as it is an easy one, but for those looking for a real hike, I would say to look for another option.

It was a foggy day in autumn. All shops were closed. The scenery looks spectacular.
It was awesome place to get away from city life. You can focus on waters voice, dead beautiful leaves:just visit
one of the most amazing hiking spots near Cluj, definitely worth a visit! even families with older members or small children can enjoy a walk in this beautiful place
Nature at its best! Its vast open land with massive canyon in the middle. Truly Is beautiful. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and take some food and drink with you.
Breath taking views! Deserves to be seen!
It has a magnificent scenery with the combination of forest, grassland, huge rocks and a small creek inside the canyon. Walking inside the canyon needs care and safety but its a good place to refresh your mind and body.
Great location for a walk or hike, pretty clean in general. There are some caves you can visit. You can also climb the cliff if you are a fan of that, make sure to bring your equipment.
Great place...if you have the courage to take the Mountains path, if not, just enjoy the fresh air and a cold beer!!
Very nice experience on a very interesting natural maze with woods, mountains, hills and rivers. A lot of camping sites along the trails....fascinating
Wort the scenery, however don’t expect more. There is a zipline from a hilltop down to the alley if you would like to try.
Very nice landscape but quite dirty because humans do not respect nature... Short track from one side to the other side of the canyon with a good spot for a family picnic at the end of the track. Please pick up your trash the way back!
Nice walk of around 1-2 hours depends on the pace. Lots of places to enter the water.
Beautiful landscape. Rockclimbing circus with a lot of choices(multi pitch, short pumpy routes). The campings on both sides of the gorge are not a match for the reserve (could be way better), however, local cuisine is tasty (I ate a langoș)
Turda Gorges have a lovely mountain scenery and a lovely trail for hiking or walking. The first few kilometres are really easy, the next ones are a little more difficult.
Very good for a trip. Fresh air, beautiful views, and good place to jump in the water! Fun with family and friends
Very nice area to explore, also greate for climbing lovers!
Nice site , with very tall walls of stone.
One of the best places that I ever visited.Lovely nature and quiet
Great location to spend the day, not too far away from Cluj-Napoca (30 min drive)! Peace and quiet, not very crowded and has free parking. There are several places where you can grab something to eat when you get back from trip.
Awesome place for walkung and hiking.
What a hike! The trails are very well marked. The hike can be as difficult or easy as youd like. Those with small dogs and children should avoid the ascent to the peak as its not an easy hike up. If you stay inside the Cheile between the gorge, then its pleasant and an easy hike. Be sure to have your own car as a Bolt or Uber is impossible to acquire.
Very nice place! I recommend going down the village and eating some barbeque around.
I really recommend go there and do the zipline
A beautiful natural reserve canyon, a must see place near Cluj-Napoca.Cheile Turzii contain one of the richest and most scenic karst landscapes in Romania. More than 1000 plant and animal species (some of them rare or endangered, like the wild garlic or some species of eaglelive here.
Hiking experience, with beautiful view, you can practice it with a basic mountain equipment!
Amazing spot just 40 mins away from the city. Just make sure you bring proper climbing shoes as the cliffs can be slippery.
Great outdoors to spend a day with the family. Hiking, or just enjoying a sunny day, is the right place.
A fantastic place to spend a sunny day. The views are amazing, its very quiet and not a lot of turists. You can also see some paragliders flying in the area and people climbing cliffs.Theres also a zip line there, and it costs 50ron per person.Sadly of your want to eat, you dont have a lot of options just BBQ mostly, so if youre a vegetarian, bring your own food 🧘♂️
What an amazing place. The canyon is located 15 minutes from Turda city and offers you a great place to hike, climb or just relax. Trails are really good marked and you need around 2 hours to pass from a side to the other. From the top the view is breathtaking. If you are in the area dont miss this beauty of nature
Beautiful gorge. It is possible to just walk around the river back and forth the same way, which is an easy route. Or its possible to take the red trail around the top. This route is considerably more challenging with an elevation gain of several hundred metres, but its a wonderful circuit that takes you up to the top of the mountains and then back down to the river.
A beautifull place, awesome for a little walk in nature. If youre into climbing, great place for that to. Fresh air, scenery, relaxation...A little bit crowded on free days...
Great place for a nature hike, just half to push through the full parking lot and all the stalls selling stuff. Entrance is almost hidden so be careful not to pass it.Entry in the nature park is free.
Beautiful place, if you wish to go through the gorge, beprepared to go on a narrow stone ledge, which might get little slippery once ot rained, and there is quite big fall to the bottom, so be careful, not adviset for small kids, or usesome kind of rope system to keep them safe. It is a good place to hike, but good hiking shoe is advisable.
Amazing view, peace of the soul. Caffe and food available and the zip lining is an activity that you cant miss!!
Great place to visit for a short getaway from the busy city, the road is great. If youre coming from Petreștii de Jos, the last 500m are on a narrow dirt road but totally manageable even without an SUV.
Great place but I strongly advise going back the same way( round trip around gorge instead of going up the hill, unless you like really steep approaches. Especially after rains when slope turns into mud slide.
Beautiful! Weve parked at the cabin and took the trail through the keys and returned on the left peak (right path after exiting the keysand it was magnificent. A bit hard when going up the mountain but the view was worth it. You can only take the keys path and its about 2h to the end and back.
Pretty canyon! Easy walk to the other side (grippy footwear recommended though).Possible to walk back via either side of the gorge (over the top). We took the “West side” on the way back which starts with a steep uphill but from then on is gorgeous!!Nice food and drinks options at the parking area
Its a great place to spend a weekend day! Beautiful nature and the trail is quite easy to finish with a pair of proper shoes. It must be seen especially when you consider the fact that its very close to Cluj-Napoca.
Breathtaking landscape, bit crowded on the weekends. Definately try the glide rope and also the restaurant at Cheile Turzii mountain hut. Other cool activities are Via Feratta with a guide and fly with a glider. Also plenty of hiking trails with beautiful vistas
A beautiful walk through a gorge. Footwear with good grip is highly recommended as the path contains a lot of slippery rock even in dry conditions.
This is a spectacular reserved area with specific wildlife and endangered species. You have a 3km canion walk between two 300m height steep cliffs alongside the little river but I strongly recommend climbing up one of the rocks. It is worth it since you have a breathtaking view over the canion and cliffs and you can see the villages around, the hills and the Apuseni mountains in most of the days. The trail is well marked with a red dot and you find info about animals and plants from tine to time. Getting there from Cluj its a little tricky without a car or 30min if you rented one. Avoid weekends since its more crowded and bring water and hiking shoes if possible. In the summertime you can find great romanian food in the camping area. Enjoy!
Very beautiful place ,the whole thing takes min. 3 hours,a little bit dangerous for kids because the rocks are very slippery,so bring some mountain climber shoes,if you go at summer bring much water, not so much food, the entry tickets are not expensive,if you want you can swim, everyone should take one day off and come here .
Perfect for visiting. Itll take a approximately one and half hour to get from one end to the other and that much back. Dont rush, youll miss seeing wonderful things. Yes, you do need good footings, no fancy shoes or sandals. The terain is steep in same places and wet. Use caution and dont rush. Hiking boots are suggested if you got them. Ive seen people trying to go there with toddlers NOT RECOMMENDED you need to maintain your own balance. In some places is hard to do so, as you have to hold on to a rope in some passages. Dont forget to hit like if this info helps you in any way!
Amazing place for climbing! You can try lots of top rope routes or multi pitch ones and even via ferrata or trad ones. At both ends you have a camping and the access to the gorges itself is very easy. The landscape and the surrounding villages are also nice so enjoy your time!
Date Visited - Jan 2019Location - 40 min drive from ClujThis place is magical, my second time here, walking here during the winter and snow was one of the most experience I had, it was just breath taking. If you are an outdoor lover, and have no issues with cold weather, you should try it during January.
This seriously was the most incredible place that I have ever seen in all of Romania. We went in winter and it had such a peaceful vibe. I cant wait to come back in summer and to see how all of it has changed with the seasons. If you are in or around the area I strongly recommend checking this place out. There is a beautiful river, caves, mountains has just about everything in nature you could want. A must see for any and all nature lovers. Happy hiking!
