Vivid old-world murals adorn this counter-serve cafe turning out Italian staples & thin-crust pizza.
Eh. Food is good, often time greasy.Main problem is the customer service. If theres a problem, its a real confrontation to fix it.
We used to enjoy this place, even though the food has never been authentic Italian, it was always good. This last time the food was all sub par and they gave my Daughter pasta with gluten even after we had told them She cannot eat gluten AND ordered the Gluten Free pasta they offer. We may try again but just not like it used to be.
Just got a large pepperoni pizza, Italian cold cut and cheese steak...should asked for mayo - I think thats what was missing ...the pizza was killer...hasnt changed. Cheese steak was actually really good - wife and I think there is more than enough meat on there...why offer double meat?
Good food. Friendly service.
We had the fettuccine bolognese and in order of spaghetti and meatballs. Its good Italian food in a casual dining. I usually get pizza or a stromboli but this time I treated myself and loved it.
Great service fantastic food. Highly recommended
Excellent. I am Second generation of Italian immigrants all four of my grandparents came from there. And for me to say that the food there is very much like my mom‘s homemade cooking is saying a lot. She never made anything that wasn’t good. It’s really a very nice place the staff is very friendly and it’s very clean you need to try it out perfect
Solid Trattoria with beer and wine as well as NYC Italian pastries and Oyster Bar on Wednesdays over the winter.Recently had their mussels in white wine and full size New York style sausage and mushroom pepperoni pizza (pics).Summer 2022 dad always gets the shrimp salad wrap this year. It was noticeably smaller than in the past. Hope thats not a trend.Suggest you order the combo pizza which allows three toppings. Cheaper than just ordering two toppings on their own. Both the muscles and the pizza were delicious. I even dipped the pizza a little bit into the broth.Another recent visit had three slices, tomato, spinach and mushrooms (pic). They were all delicious. We also love the shrimp salad wrap. Great big shrimp and tasty. My vegetarian wife loves their baked ziti and Mom and I love their seafood pastas with white, rosé, or marinara sauces.A lot of their stuff uses homemade sauce which is fantastic. And we also love their garlic knots. The garlic bread tends to be too hard but the garlic knots are the way to go.
Very laid back place to get food.
So disappointed. This was my first time trying this restaurant, and I was so excited because I love pasta and its so close to my home. The woman who greeted me was very standoffish. Almost as if she had an attitude. There was only one person waiting for food so it was not extremely busy. I should have followed my instinct and left. I ordered the shrimp scampi and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were pretty good and that is why I gave 2 stars. You get 4, but they are really big and filled pleasantly with cheese. The gravest disappointment comes with the pasta. It was more watery than anything else. It hardly had any flavor whatsoever, and the garlic pieces were cut in pretty big chunks. I had the lunch portion and you get a decent amount, but the shrimp were so small and you only get 4, hardly worth it. I am not sure if I just came too early (about 20 minutes after openingor if they staff was having an off day, but after eating that pasta I doubt I would come back. I will have to commend the man who took my order, he was decent. Possibly the most flavorless shrimp scampi Ive had. Maybe I would have given another star if the hospitality and customer service was superb, but I felt unwelcomed. I will not come to this restaurant probably ever again.
The food was fair. The staff was polite. Overall, decent cheap and quick meal with no perks.
Great well established Italian pizzeria. Excellent pizza crust. Wide selection of salads. Everything Ive eaten there has been done correctly with fresh ingredients.
Love this place. Great pizza, salads, garlic bread, etc. Very homey and most of the servers have been there for many years. Owner is very sexist and will only hire men (based on personal experience and insider information from employeesbut other than that I love the place.
my salad was absolutely awful but the karaoke made up for it. thanks y’all.
The food is immaculate. This is my favorite food place in Catonsville, amazing pastas, desserts, and appetizers. Great calamari, great bruchetta, and my fiancé swears on the lasagna. You will not be disappointed, this is the last heart-of-catonsville restaurant and they deserve the best recognition
Great selection of Italian cuisine...Nothing fancy, just good eats..Comfortable atmosphere, great for familiesCatonsville Maryland, ya gotta love it
decent servings for sure. salad soup and pasta dishes were made fresh with above average ingredients. Id add some cream and guanciole in my pasta I fagioli soup for sure. plus price wise its not too expensive.
Pizza was good. Other foods on display looked tasty, so well try them over time. For us, personally, this is much more a take out place than a dine in place. Were surprised that weve lived in Catonsville so long before trying this place.Update: had spinach and sausage rolls takeout because neither one of us felt like cooking. Quick, tasty, and a good choice. Next time well try one of the pasta dishes.
The restaurant is basically self service . I ordered the calamari it wasn’t bad, the portion was good . I then had the the veal piccata, it was bland and the veal was disgusting IMO. The tiramisu was actually good . Service was ok . I visited for the first time today and it will be the last.
Im not on that side of the beltway anymore but when I am, I go out of my way to visit Chef Ps. They are consistently great and this past visit was no exception.
Service is great I go there all the time the pizza is really good and takes no longer than 30 minutes to come out
Chef Paolino Cafe is always a great place for a nice Italian meal. You get in line to order then sit at the table for your meal. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant always clean. We went to support the girls field hockey team at Catonsville High School. They are always having fundraisers for the community.
Dinner and service last night for my sons birthday was fabulous! The food was perfection for every bite and a nice portion. Everyone was very pleasant and served with a smile!! 100% recommended to eat out or take home.
Pizza was excellent and portions were very big. My first time there and it wont be my last.
The shrimp salad was great, fries freshly made and peanut butter cheesecake was good too. I gave 3 stars because this is basically cafeteria style, food is good, no real service and pricey for the lack of service
We enjoyed a marvelous rehearsal dinner. The food was very good and so much of it. Nick was a delight to work with from a distance. He made the planning of the event very easy. Nick also served ou group of 30 personally. Exceptional service. Highly recommend Chef Paolina Cafe.
Decent place! The white pizza topped with spinach and ricotta was quite good. The lasagna felt a little small for $15, but the taste was definitely worth it. The slice of pizza for reference was $4.25, so I would say this isn’t the place for someone on a budget. Would definitely go again!
Pasta was ok; my Italian sub was mostly bread and pretty tasteless. No italian seasoning and very little meat. An Italian sub should have oil and parmesan too. Shameful offering. I get a much better Italian sub at Jersey Mikes.
We had a group of 12 (9 big kids and 3 adults), and everything was perfect. Staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the food was DELICIOUS! This is one of our favorite places to go in the area! Make sure you check them out!
The new york style pizza is pretty good. Ive ordered the eggplant parmesan here twice and it was nothing to write home about. To be fair, ive only ordered take-out from this establishment so it might be better if you dine in. I will definitely eat here again and try something new.
I went for lunch with a colleague. I ordered eggplant parmesan and a side greek salad. The eggplant was soggy and flat, spaghetti noodles way over cooked, and the dish had 1/4 inch or more of water. It seemed that at least the eggplant was microwaved and then run through the pizza oven. The greek salad was served with no dressing - dry. I dont think its somewhere I will return to.
This is a pretty nice Italian restaurant, I wouldnt call it a fancy restaurant but a standard Italian restaurant with no frills. They do serve alcohol. You can eat inside or outside. A good menu choices and you can also grab something fast at the counter. This is a hotspot for a lot of Catonsville residents especially busy on the weekend and evenings.
Good old fashioned NY Style pizza but not at NYC prices. Cool restaurant with tasty food, good prices and friendly staff make this a go to place for when youre hungry. Great overall experience!!
This is without a doubt one of my favorites for tasty Italian food. Excellent pizza with a very flavorful crust. Spaghetti and meatballs are superb, treat yourself to a cannoli you will not be disappointed.
Giving 4 stars because it’s more of a takeout place, not full service. You order at the counter, then they bring the food out. It’s a pain to keep going to the counter to order if you want to add on: food, drinks, etc. I’m showing pictures of something from the menu other than pizza. I highly recommend the garlic knots! The small house salad is enough for two people. Oh, and the wine is reasonably priced.
We happen to be working nearby grab some lunch absolutely fantastic came back the next day cheif Paul and Nick are 2 great guys
One of the best restaurants. Ive eaten the same meal for lunch for a month straight and I am STILL not tired of it.
Great Authentic Italian Pizza.Large Slices. Many other Italian food favorites. Always delicious. Nice people and atmosphere and they serve Beer and Wine.
The food is good quality but the customer service is lacking. Theyre always busy and thats understandable but it still should be a priority to offer proper customer service. I came in alone with my grandson and when my order was ready offered any assistance no one offered to bring it to us. I had to ask someone to bring the food to the table for me because I wasnt about to walk away from my grandson in the world that we currently live in. When we were leaving I walk to the counter carrying my grandson carrying the two packages of leftovers which I had prepared myself and standing there holding all of it in my two hands. I asked the woman behind the counter if she could help me By bagging the food so I could carry it out easier. I totally understood that she wanted me to wait for a minute because she was busy. With another customer and I had no problem with that, but after she finished what she was doing she grabbed a bag and threw it on the counter and I had to put my grandson down and all our stuff and bag it myself. I was very angry. I felt like that was so insulting and zero customer service. Especially from a woman who probably has a child you would think people would be a little bit more sensitive. I dont live in a bubble I work in retail and I offer great customer service all of the time because I know how it feels to not get it. I will not be returning there with my grandson its clearly not setup for people with small children accompanied by only one adult.
I really like this place. You can get your lunch and eat quickly. Food is great and reasonably priced. Service quick. Nice variety in menu. I generally get pizza or shrimp salad sandwich. They are Italian cuisine but have a few other things and daily specials. All good
Cafe style dining! Everything had a great flavor, we had both pasta and pizza. They have homemade sangria which was delicious. We did have a small problem with our order, but they were extremely apologetic and very quick in rectifying it. Staff were very attentive to clear plates and ask if we needed anything throughout our visit. Very affordable pricing too, which makes it an excellent value.
Chef Paolino Cafe is a nice Italian place to dine in,to carry out and order online. I decided to order a cheese, sausage and pepperoni pizza to go. It was delicious. To me this is what I call a true pizza. They have their own parking lot.
Highly annoyed. This is usually our go to spot for pizza as that is usually always spot on, but things are hit or miss if you deviate from the pizza. I’m not a picky person, but like any other person, I like to get what I pay for, not to mention, especially when doing a carry out order as they do not deliver. With that being said and wanting to avoid a mess up with food, I decided to order their Chef Paulinos Tossed Salad with the menu description as “Garden Salad with Salami, ham, egg, provolone, and feta cheese tossed in a homemade vinagerette dressing”. Now, the listing of what is in a garden salad is not on their menu, which is fine, as anyone who would typically order a salad should imagine it’s pretty basic...lettuce, tomato, maybe some cucumbers...basic. Unfortunately, that isn’t what I recieved, and of course, it’s not noticed until we get all the way home. The salad included lettuce, pepperocini, black olives, and was covered in red onion. No egg as specified, and to avoid a soggy salad, I asked for dressing on the side which they forgot. To me, this is screaming Greek salad with shredded ham and provolone on it, with way too much feta cheese. Mistakes happen. So we call at 930 (closing time on the menu is 10pmWhen the gentleman answered, “Chef Paulinos we’re now closed”. My husband does his best to explain that he thinks the order is wrong and that we were given the wrong thing To which the reply is “well that’s part of it.” My husband responded that, that kind of information should be listed on the menu, as by the time I got done removing all the things I don’t eat, it was lettuce and meat and too much feta. So much that without the dressing which again, they forgot, felt like you were eating a salad sprinkled with salty sawdust. After 3 bites, I couldn’t do it anymore.Again, mistakes happen. I get it. But Im in the business at a catonsville restaurant and bar, and the simple task of wanting to make it right wasn’t even on their radar. It made me really sad as we usually pass on Schittinos and Peace a Pizza for Chef P’s. Not sure that’s going to happen again.
Delicious salad at chef paolino cafe in ellicott city
This is my first and last time here. The cold cut sub had slimey meat and the roll was hard as a rock. The veal Parmesan was flavorless, dry and bland. I also order French fries that were super skinny and hard. What a waste of money!
Nice little pizza and pasta sit down place just off Frederick road. Parking is a little cramped but seating inside is more abundant. Its not overly fancy, having a sort of pizza-diner feel. Huge portions, free refills, and the whole place is staffed by local high school kids that are quick and polite. Good place for a birthday or to bring kids.
Pretty good pasta dishes, pizzas and sandwiches. The dinner portions are very big for the pasta dishes; they come with garlic bread and a good sized salad with their own homemade dressing. Lunch portions for the pasta dishes are a little on the small end. Its not a full table service--you order your food up front, they give a number stand, select your table and someone from the kitchen will bring your order to your table. Service has always been good with very friendly staff.
Best cheesesteak around!! I’ll be back for the Thursday wine and dine special!
The food is always fresh and tasty. We often visit during lunch at work or order catering for meetings. The garlic knots are among my favorites. The pepperoni roll is huge and is great for 2 people; although I have tried to tackle it on my own a few times. The folks working are always pleasant.
Always our go-to place for amazing pizza. Dine-in is fast-casual, you order off the menu at the counter and they bring your food to you. Weve never had an issue with carryout, and their pizza is hands down my favorite. Salads and pasta are great too!
