Chef Alfredo’s St George - Italian restaurant in Saint George, United States
Great authentic food and space. Lots of choices and decent size portions. Liked the fact that the food was nice and hot when delivered. Something that doesnt happen at every restaurant.
The food was great, the place is outstanding but the service was a bit disappointing. We went in the end of the night, the restaurant was almost empty and they try to put us in a small table in the end of the saloon. We asked for changed and they were really surprised but changed the table. The girl said she is too young to serve wine and we need to wait 10 minutes for the waiter. At the end, food was really delicious and tasty - real Italian experience in the heart of USA.
The Linguine Frutti Di Mare was superb. Sauce was fresh and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The fish flavor of the white wine sauce was present but not over powering and the aroma of the dish was subtle and not too fishy. All my Mussels and classic were open which I appricate (my biggest pet peeve is ordering sea food and not being able to open the darn things). I enjoy the ambiance of their new location and their backroom is very nice if you like to be out of the way of other diners. Service was a bit slow but they were short staffed AND serving a massive group that had come in before us so I felt they were as expedient as possible given the circumstances. Price wise its what youd expect for a candle light dinner. If youre getting wine or a fountain drink, an appetizer, main course and a desert youre looking at about $50 bucks a head. Honestly its only $15 more then some cheap family restaurant chain but the quality of food is ten times what youll get there so not bad pricing, its pretty fair for what you get. In all it was a pleasant experience and Ill be going again to try something new.
So good! I have gone here on many occasions and loved it every single time. Pricing is more than fair for the amount of food and quality of food. I LOVE their new location. Its a big parking lot and I love that they have indoor and outdoor seating. Its very pleasant and calm and not too dark which I love. Try it, youll love it!
The chicken was cooked perfectly and was paired with the proper amount of noodles and sauce. Highly recommend this place.
Food was very good, and worth the price! 5 starsService was good, but took FOREVER to get the bill, shouldnt have to wait 15min after we finish to get cashed out. OMG! 3 stars
If you are craving authentic Italian food This is the place! Delicious! The lemon cake was also delicious !
Came here on a Saturday night, no reservation but they were able to get us a table within 20 minutes. Customer service was excellent and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend!
More often than not, its the restaurant that doesnt always appear as the fanciest of places on the outside that delivers some of the best food on the inside! Chef Alfredos did not disappoint. The smells and ambiance drew us in and the food was superb! Keep up the great work!
Quick SummaryPretty good Italian food. They were severely understaffed, so wait was pretty long. Plenty of parking available.Food- 4 starsBread- very buttery and softSeafood linguine- the flavor was great, but the seafood was overcooked. Good portions thoughstrawberry aragula- tasted pretty freshService- 4 starsOur server was great, but he was overworked. It seemed like he was taking care of 8+ tables as he was constantly coming out with orders of food. Took about an hour to get our entrees and had to fetch a different server for the checkBottom LineIts a decent spot for Italian food, but do expect a wait as they are understaffed
As a long time fan, I was disappointed in my last visit. The new location completely lacks the charm of the former one. Hopefully they will redecorate, but it looks like a former Mexican restaurant. Also, the food, usually excellent, was sub par. Some of the seafood even tasted fishy, something that has never happened before. I trust things will improve, but this was a disappointment for sure. Note: the place had only been open for a few weeks in it’s new location,so maybe will return to former level.
"New Location - New Experience"For 7 years now, we have been enjoying a great Experience at Chef Alfredos. That is...until they changed locations. The old location on Tabernacle was calm, intimate, providing one of the best dining experiences in St George. They have now moved to a location that is located off a very busy and LOUD traffic route. While the old location provided a romantic place to take your spouse for a Birthday or Valentines occasion, this new location might as well be a Dennys or MacDonalds. It is loud, complete with screaming children like you might find is a 1 star cafeteria setting. But it doesnt stop there, oh no! The new staff is drastically inexperienced in providing the level of service that a fine dining chef would expect from his staff. Although my wife and I were greeted with a much less than friendly hostess, we hoped for the same food quality that the previous location provided. I guess we set the bar too high. The food was not only below the quality of the previous location, but Chef Ramsey would have a "Field Day" with this restaurant makeover. My advice to the Chef... "I am very sorry you had to change locations and staff, but maybe you should take that as a sign to retire and leave your legacy on a high note." We have always recommended this restaurant to family and friends who visit St George, but we will not even mention this establishment any longer.Very disappointed,Vinny
I hate to do this. I dont know how many stars to give. Chef Alfredos our favorite restaurant at the old location. We would go with friends, couples and family. It seems like when they moved they left with out the chef. I dont know whats going on but it was a disappointment for an anniversary dinner. We use to go all the time, but now....So I would get the Fettuccine All’aragosta its a delicious plate. The lobster was cooked perfectly and that was it. The shrimp were hard the sauce was not the correct sauce. The other plate was a risotto and filet mignon. Ordered rare and got well done... no pink at all. The waitress was rude because we talked to her about it. I said I know you didnt cook this and I am not blaming you, but this isnt what we ordered. She got super defensive and only took the one plate back. After Waiting 20 min the waitress comes back puts the plate down and rudly says 🙄 cut the meat to see if its pink.... mind you its not like the steak was half eaten and sent back ...this really killed the anniversary. We ate some, gave a nice tip and left in disappointment.
SOOOOOO GOOD! The waiter was so nice and the food was delicious!
We have always loved dining at Chef Alfredo’s but are very disappointed with the new space. It is big and very noisy. We could hear clanking going on in the kitchen and the phone was ringing off the hook. No tablecloths on the tables. No ambiance. The food was still great. We miss the cozy, fine dining feel of the former building.
The food was fantastic, the have a large wine selection by the bottle or glass, it was easy to get in and have lunch but dinner fills up fast. Ill definitely be dining here again.
Very disappointed in the new location. The location downtown had such a wonderful ambiance whereas the new location is very ordinary, run of the mill restaurant. The food was mediocre at best….I ordered Veal Marsala that was covered with canned — not fresh —mushrooms and the gravy was so salty I couldn’t eat it. I will say though that the small pieces of veal were very tender. Sadly, I don’t think I will return any time soon.
The dish I ordered was quite good, however there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant, and it was very frustrating waiting 20 minutes for a table when the restaurant was 3/4 empty. The decor is dated, and you can tell theyve given up on things like tablecloths. But, my pasta dish was delicious.
So as far as authenticity this food is the closest Ive been able to get a lot of Italian restaurants do not offer a lot of traditional dishes that you truly find in Italy these guys have it these guys have a good variety in their food is delicious Ive been here twice since theyve opened and I love it very well worth the price
We took a party of 10 to Chef Alfredos. They dropped a dinner plate as they were delivering the food. It broke some glasses. Food, water, and glass everywhere. It ruined my daughters shirt. We didnt make a big deal of it. I get it - accidents happen. However, I wish that they would have cared more about it. No apology, no visit from the manager, and they charged us full price for that meal. One of the other dinners was not what we ordered. It seems like a restaurant that wants to be higher end, but just isnt. I suggest you skip this place they dont care about the customer.
Had a great experience at the St. Georges location. We arrived well after 8, when they close at 9, and they seated us and fed us quickly. Had a great meal after a long day of traveling.
Flat out TERRIBLE experience. My girlfriend and I visited this place for a celebration. It was everything but the celebration I was hoping for. We were seated, business was steady, yet it still took 15-20 minutes for the server to take our drink order. 15-20 minutes passed again, no server in sight. So then the manager/owner, whoever, comes out and apologizes over and over and over and over, excuse after excuse. She takes care of us, finally. While waiting for our food, we overhear from another table that the server who first helped us had lost the tables credit card and couldnt locate the card. Quite a place, sheesh. We finished our food. I wasnt satisfied, yet I still tipped $1. One week later Im checking my statement and there is $10 extra dollars added to my bill. I called the restaurant and explained what happened, so the person I talked to on the phone said they will send me a gift card for what happened that night. A week goes by, no gift card. I message on FB to ask whats going on. No reply. Another week, no reply and no gift card. This went on for about a month and a half. Nothing. So this review is what it has come down to. Ive heard such great things about this place, but this place is anything but great and instead is filled with empty promises. Do not go here. Do not spend your money here.
I do not think the people running this location are very experienced so far. The restaurant was very warm, as if they had struggles with air conditioning. The service was slow (thirty five minutes after we ordered, the food arrives). When they brought a seafood pasta, the muscles and clams were only partially cooked and clamped shut and impossible to open. When informed of this, the manager simply said "Ill inform the chef." There was no offer to help out with an alternate or discount. I think they are having a hard time finding good employees.
Just went to chef Alfredo earlier this week. Wont be going back. I got lasagna and it had two 3/4 inch pieces of hard inedible onion skin in the first quarter of the portion. There was also some grit in there too. Probably dirt from the onion.Waitress was very good and attentive.Very warm in the dining room.
The quality has decreased tremendously. I really loved that restaurant but now I dont see myself coming back because the food was not worth the price. The food wasnt fresh and it wasnt as nice of an experience as at the old location. I dont know what changed (maybe ownersbut Im so disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants in town.
My husband and I had lunch at Chef Alfredo’s. We loved it. The service provided by Sarah and Isla was excellent. We did not need a reservation and we were seated immediately. I had lasagna. It’s one of the best lasagna’s I’ve ever had. My husband had the parmesan crusted chicken, which he said was very good. We love the location, it’s very convenient to get to. It looks like this location has a lot more tables than the previous one which should be good for being able to get a table. This is our new favorite Italian restaurant.
Our 1st visit @ new location. Very impressed with excellent food & service, surprised it was quite busy at 5pm on Thurs. Good, hope it will carry on for a very long time. We need more places to dine that are not fast food.
I wish I could say the Risotto was delicious but it never made it to my table after 1 hour and 15 minutes. Out of three dishes we ordered, only one arrived. We had to ask for the starter bread and guess what... it didnt arrive either. This is by far the worst customer service experience of my life. And I lived 27 years in countries of the so-called third world. I would not recommend this place even to my worst enemy. I dont know how in the world this place survived so long working like this.
Homemade bread was awesome! Service was okay but not great. We had chicken Alfredo and overall it was bland, chicken wasnt seasoned at all and the Alfredo sauce was just kinda average. Their cost on pasta is cheap and they kinda skimp on the chicken, maybe 2oz or 3oz in it. Not worth the $23 per person.
This used to be our favorite place to eat in St George but the new location is dumpy, poorly located, and has horrible design and atmosphere. The food has also suffered and was not nearly as good. My lasagna had pieces of hard bay leaf all through it. Sadly, we will never go back and will miss the old Alfredo’s.
This was our favorite restaurant during our visits to St. George. The new location is a tragic disappointment. Those of you used to going to the little house in Green Gate Village on Tabernacle St should be warned. The new location is in a dumpy building that shares a parking lot with a dumpy motel and gas station. The dining room smelled like a school cafeteria with zero ambiance. Not sure why they relocated. Food and service also was lacking. We won’t be back.
The food was delicious and our server Dominic was amazing. On the other hand, we were welcomed by Martha who gave us a very bad reception. This lady tell us many times that she’s the owner of the restaurant but is very lacking in politeness. She yells at customers and is not able to handle pressure. She have a bad attitude with the staff too. Marthas incompetence frustrated us and ruined the evening. We wont be going back to this restaurant again as long as she works there.
The service we experienced was not acceptable. From the point of trying to reach them on the phone to make the reservation because you can’t do it on line and later to confirm, no one ever answered the St George location number that was listed the website. I had to use the Cedar City number. Our server was on Day 3 working there. She was nice but … our wine was not opened by the time our appetizers came. Our orders were taken but a salad was missing when they were delivered. An entree was late. We waited for ice, water, extra plates. Our bill was completely messed up. Worst of all the manager never helped our server, never checked on us despite the difficulties, walked passed a spill on the floor multiple times and never once smiled at us or anyone else. Only gave it a two star because the food was tasty.
Came here on my birthday. Wasn’t aware that we needed to make a reservation. The manager said she was going to see what she could do. Waited for 15 minutes and she put a table together. It was really busy since it was the day after valentines day. Staff was AMAZING overall. One of the best in town that we’ve had. Will definitely be coming back soon.
My husband and I received amazing service and experienced an exquisite meal! He has the lobster alfedo, and I enjoyed the gnochi with a four cheese sauce and prosciutto. Hands down a favorite in our book! The environment was charming as well. We wish them much success for years to come!
This restaurant was absolutely incredible! We had a party of 6, each of us ordered a different entree and every single one was so delicious. Amanda was our waitress; she was kind, genuine and helpful. We will be back again, no doubt about it!Heads up: make sure you get reservations, as this place fills up fast.
We were in town and wanted to try this restaurant out! We made reservations and had a delicious meal! Around 12:30 am both my 12 year old son and I started vomiting. It was awful. Food poisoning. We were in town for a baseball tournament no less, so that really sucked. Won’t go back. Ever.
Fabulous food, quality service and friendly & quant atmosphere here at Chef Alfredo’s.Went above and beyond from the moment we stepped through the door. Would highly recommend.
We have enjoyed dining here a few times now. After a snafu with calling the wrong place for reservations and waiting to see if they could fit us in, we were not disappointed. Our server, Dominic, gave great suggestions and fantastic service. The food was worth the wait. The Bistecca alla vodka special was amazing. Call ahead and make a reservation.
Chef Alfredo’s great place to have Italian food in St. George. Located in an old house fantastic atmosphere good selection of food very delicious. The lemon cello cake for dessert is fabulous
Absolutely perfect dinner! The service was amazing. The food was great! The sauces were very good! They paid attention to every detail (they even noticed we were waiting outside 10 minutes before they opened and let us in!Dominic, our waiter, was attentive, but not a nuisance. The atmosphere was really cool as well.
In my opinion, this is the best Italian food in town! Ive lived here for almost 3 years & this was my 1st time in🤔 This is a very intimate setting with lots of people on dates. The food was fantastic & well be back soon. Service was wonderful was well between the host/manager, server & busser. Green gate village is a cozy little area too
We picked Chef Alfredos for a celebratory anniversary dinner. The manager (I think?picked a room she thought could be more private and it was! We had the majority of the evening to ourselves. Our server took great care of us. The food was all delicious. The "homemade bread" with carmelized onions on top was tasty. We got the artichoke spinach dip with crunchy pita and we loved it. It was so richly creamy. We appreciated the perfect ratio of bread to dip! On point. For entrees we chose chicken alfredo fettuccine and chicken parmesan. Both were wonderful. The marinara on the parmesan was fresh and slightly sweet, and the dish had plenty of cheese which I would expect. The alfredo was thick and creamy but also carried plenty of flavor, not just cream. Chicken was delicious and moist rather than dry which often happens. We were not offered any drinks after we told the server we were not interested in wine. We also thought one of the entrees was meant to come with a side but it was never mentioned. Overall it was a great dinner and experience. We were generously offered a complimentary dessert for our celebration! We tried the lava cake which was plenty tasty. The sponge was too dry with no real "lava" to self sauce the cake like I think it ought to, but it was still warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Classic and tasty.
Some of the best Italian we’ve ever had anywhere. We each had a chicken dish with risotto. Amazing. Even the salads were remarkable. Remarkably friendly and expert waiter named Fabio and a great manager, too. Check out the pics of the Chicken Saltimbocca and Chicken with sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and olives. All amazing.
One of the best steaks of my entire life. Have eaten a $150 dollar steak in NYC, and this was up there with that. Both of our meals were amazing. We called and asked if they had a reservation, and they told us if we could hurry over they would save us one of the empty tables. They were quick, attentive, the manager seemed to be very aware of everyone and was kind. We loved this place. I don’t know how I hadn’t heard of it earlier.
WOW! Incredible service and more than incredible food!! Fresh flavors serenade your taste buds with heavenly shouts of acclamation! Every single thing we ordered was fantastic! The first bite of bruschetta had me leaning back in my chair with utter satisfaction. The lemon chicken!!!! Best lemon chicken I’ve ever had the pleasure of consuming! This is a place that is now on our “spoil yourself” list. Incredible!!!!
Wow! I enjoyed the atmosphere, the service was fantastic, the food was very good, though a little long in cooking and overall I had a great experience! I ate the chicken Marsala and it was cooked well. Moist, tender and well seasoned. The Marsala taste was understated but really complemented the mushrooms and vegetable side (seasoned squashes and broccoli)I am definitely coming here again as is everyone I came with.
If you are visiting St. George, UT - This should definitely be on the top of your dining out list! Suggest reservations. They close at 9 PM. We showed up w/o reservations at 8:30. They seemed iffy about seating us at first, but then graciously sat us. Service was friendly. Great accomodations, but not pretentious. The food was divine. Had our first Italian soda. It was tasty. And for the quality and amount of food, the price was EXTREMELY fair. If we lived here, we would definitely make it one of our mainstay favorites. If you are visiting St. George, make this a stop!
The aroma upon entering Chef Alfredos was fabulous. Our party of ten was seated within a few minutes, appetizers and drinks were ordered and served , with entrees ordered we settled in for an enjoyable evening. The entrees pictured are the Lobster and shrimp fettuccine and the Calamari and shrimp fettuccine different sauces on each, both were superb. The bread served was some of the best - lightly toasted slices with a hint of garlic.
Authentic Italian with great service in a very comfortable setting. Its so nice to see a well done independent Italian place back in St. George. Chef Alfredo, the namesake, is from Italy and the authentic flows throughout the menu and the food.Unlike much of Italy... the service is FANTASTIC. Efficient. Pleasant. And helpful. Note - the Chef is happy to make your favorite Italian dish, call ahead a day or 2 to coordinate.Pricing is quite reasonable for food, ambience and service of this caliber. This joins the Painted Pony, Inn on a Cliff, and Aragosta as must goes for foodies living in or visiting St. George.Recommended. We will return and bring friends.
