Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Killeen

We walked in yesterday for a late lunch and the place smelled awful. We stopped the hostesses as they were getting our table ready and told them we couldnt eat here. They didnt look surpised. I hope they get that issue fixed. They JUST reopened too. We were a little disappointed.

First of all let me start off by saying that Chedders has a great product for the price, sometimes. HOWEVER, it is a shame that from the moment I walked in the door with my party of 5 at a slow, not busy at all, time of day I sensed that my experience would not be good. Now, maybe people were just having a bad day?? The hostess had the personality of a wet mop, barely made eye contact. An employee answering the phone up front did so with such sarcasm and condescension to the customers that I sat there laughing...wow. Once we were seated, we were quickly greeted by what seemed a very unhappy soul of a waitress, but once our order was taken, we never saw her again. So overall, the experience was negative. Its a shame. Lately, I notice more and more that eating out just isnt even worth it anymore.

Doesn’t matter I was waiting for my table the food was delicious. But I have to say this, I was suffering from low blood sugar and Chris came to the rescue and brought me some juice and sugar, which brought my blood sugar up. I really appreciate it, thank you! Also, Elisa in the front was very kind and our server. The food Awesome!!!! and I take another plate to go. I love the ribs and the telapia with cheese sauce and shrimp

The food looks really good in the menu, still pretty good when you get it, but overall the quality wasnt great. They had these awesome looking chicken tenders, but they smother them in sauce (not at all how its pictured). My friend got a chicken pot pie, again, looked great, but luke warm kind of bland. Its not a bad place, the atmosphere is cool, but middle of the road food.

So visited for take out when they reopened. Super busy so I understood foe the 1 hr wait so I called the order in. Went 10 mins earlier to pick up and still had missing food, no sauces, and just disappointed. Pictures at worth a thousand words. Ketchup always saves the day.Always enjoy this place. The food is great.12/22/21 today i had the steak and wasnt fully well but mostly done. Overall pretty good.

First of all, I really enjoyed the mood lighting. Its the perfect place to bring your lady before getting to, "Dessert". The food was excellent, the staff was friendly, the drinks werent watered down, and I got it all at a reasonable price!

Not happy the point of going out to dinner together is to EAT TOGETHER ordered steak dinner medium rare and came out well done food server did not even wait for me to cut into my steak so I had to wait for my waitress to make her rounds to let her know that my steak was not right in the meantime my husband finished his dinner and his beer before I even got my food WILL NOT COME BACK

Horrible just Horrible!! Our location closed due to a bad storm, however they recently re- opened and the food is still bad. Dont waste your time or money..

Food was good! Had ordered online order would be ready at 6:17 received food an hour later. I understand they just reopened and were extremely busy. Hopefully It isnt as slow with orders in the next 2/3months.

Definitely missed this place! Our service was fast and friendly! The food was delicious!

Great food and atmosphere loved it. Salmon with both blackened and the sauce was awesome. literally would love to go here over and over if I had the money.

Way Expensive for cheap food. Fist time here and I was expecting more. We waited a half hour. The first 2 buttered croissants are free, then the rest you have to pay for. We ordered an appetizer and the appetizer did not come until the entrées were served which was upsetting. I’ve been poor and know The difference between cheap food and expensive food. both the sirloin steak and the chicken Brest looked cheap and thin. The total was over 50 dollars. You can go to Outback and get way better food for about the same price. Then when I payed the bill on the kiosk they put on the tables it was disgusting.🤢 it had food and greasy fingerprints all over it. Looked like it wasn’t cleaned in over a week.Take the same money and go to Outback Steakhouse and get real good food. You won’t be disappointed!

The food was good, the the salmon was a little salty. I had amazing company with me so that made up for it. Our server was a little frantic, but I think she was just trying to keep everyone happy and the manager was just downright rude. I dont go to Cheddars often but this is the first time Ive been unhappy with the staff.

At first service was great. Our food came and we noticed some of it was cold. We never could get the server to the table. My friend found the manager. He was very nice and brought new hot food. Also we got our drink refills. Then here we go again. They brought us a to go box and we needed a bag to put them in. Server said they would be right back. Not . I think the irritation was, workers keep going right by us taking out curbside. They also stand by hind us chatting. No one could say, can I help or get something. We addressed the problem again with the lady manager. She discounted the bill. We werent looking for a discount. Pretty much nun of the workers help each other out. Which resulted in poor service.

Good food. Love the cheeddar bites. Service was good but not great. Delay getting our salads then got our entries immediately after. We hadnt taken more than 2 bites of the salads. Waitress never brought a refill and once the bill was paid we had to hunt her down for a printed receipt.

This was My first time there. It was nice, clean, friendly, and we were made to feel at home. They served me plenty of food. I would definitely go back.

Went here for a Platoon event. The food was fantastic as was the service!

We came in early evening and didnt have to wait for a seat. The atmosphere is similar to Chilis or Applebees. The hosts and server were pleasant and attentive without being bothersome. We had the Cajun pasta and chicken fried steak. The food came out hot and smelled good. The chicken fried steak was pretty large (more than I can eat these days, lol). I ordered mashed potatoes and corn which were both good. The chicken fried steak was a little bit salty but the cut of meat was excellent with no fatty portions. The Cajun pasta had a funny taste to it, which we didnt like at all(causing us to only eat a few bites). The complimentary croissants were so overcooked I mistook them for biscotti. Overall a disappointing so-so experience, not as good as the one in Austin (Round Rock).

First off the the food was pretty good. Steak was tender, first time Ive ever had broccoli cheese yum. BUT WE HAD TO WAIT 30 MIN FOR TWO WATERS AND 56 MINUTES FOR OUR FOOD. Which was only two entrees and 4 sides. When we did finally get our food our server forgot our utensils and no napkins, which she gave us, the napkins, when we were about to leave. Just overall worst service Ive ever had. Just terrible. Never eating in again maybe takeout only.

Alyssa C is great! Handled us and tables in her section very well, she was attentive and apologetic about wait times due to short staff. (Although we didn’t wait long to be seated, served, or dined.Food was also amazing !

The staff is nice but the restaurant is disgusting. This was my second time going during the day around 3:00 and you could see just see the dirty floors and seats. The booths had dust, crumbs, and hair. The floors looked like they had not been swept or cleaned in days and it was not even busy. My glass was dirty and my silverware had caked on food on it! I received another set and it was just as dirty! How do you roll up dirty silverware in napkins?! It also smelled like a sewer or there was a backed up bathroom. Just gross, I did not eat the food and don’t know if I’ll return the HH location. Like how do the managers not see the uncleaned tables?! He was too busy making a scene about pineapple on the drinks. How about deep cleaning the entire restaurant?!!!

By far one of my favorite places to eat and have drinks! The drinks are awesome they have something for everyone in my opinion. Some of the best priced drinks around. Food is typically hot and fresh and hits the spot. Our waitress was freaking all around awesome and attended to every table like it was the only one she had!

Bartender washed dishes for 5 minutes while we sat at a booth waiting to be asked for drinks. No other people in the bar. Another server popped up behind the bar. Still no one asked us what we wanted to drink. Marked the machine to call a server. It eventually went off with no service. A couple sat at the bar. Got drinks immediately. Hostess came by to seat someone else and I let her know we still hadn’t been seen yet it. She told the bartender, and it seemed like she was giving the hostess attitude. Couldn’t even get a server or bartender to ask us for drinks at 4:15 on a Monday. Bar was dead. No excuse. After 15 minutes Bartender finally came over when we got up to leave. Sad! No urgency at all. Lost our business. Hostess was nice. Bartender was terrible and oblivious and a slow afternoon. Dishes are more important than customers.

3 stars because our issues were resolved in a timely manner, but issues still happened.We were seated, and it took nearly 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge we were there. Our server was very nice and quick once she got to us. We ordered the spinach dip for our appetizer, chicken tender platter with fries and slaw, and country fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes, with a side ceasar salad. The appetizer was delicious as always, as well as the chicken tenders and slaw. The fries seemed a little old but still tasted fine. Green beans were not cooked through, and mashed potatoes were cold. The country fried stead was raw. We flagged down a manager and made him aware of the issue, and he was apologetic and offered to get a new one but we just asked to have that whole part of the meal taken off the ticket which was done. Our server was also apologetic. It was a shame that my husband did not get to enjoy his meal, but it was handled well by the restaurant staff. Well be back some time, not soon but sometime.

Sundays are always steady...We were told a 30 min wait. It ended up being about 16 minutes!I wish I knew my waitress name she was amazing!My 4 dollar margarita is always perfect! Food was made with perfection my bake potato was on point!My daughter cleaned her plate!!

Overall was good. Food was good. Service was good. Waiting was 20 minutes which was fair. Food take to long tho.

Here we go again folks, I will state on here that I understand that the price of food has increased, thereby forcing businesses to up their costs, but does that mean you have to make your menu smaller? Does that mean that the food is served to you cold and tasteless?Does that also mean that the wait staff has to be rude and grouchy and uncaring?I was brought up in a time that the wait staff knew that in order to receive a great tip, that they could at least smile and be friendly and somewhat "earn" their tip. Nowadays at the bottom of your receipt it is mandatory pretty much and states the different percentages of tips that you are required to leave.If we go to dine out, we prefer to have a positive experience with good food, and a nice atmosphere.At this location, on our last three separate visits, we have had either a server who cannot smile, or a server who has a rude tone to their voice, or a server who wants to discuss their personal finances with us every time they come to the table.One server explained that we needed to "hurry" and "get done" with our meal, as we were her last table that she had to "complete" before she was able to go home and relieve her sitter who she was having to pay extra money to because the manager had made her stay later then planned. She then volunteered to us that we should leave her a "great tip" to cover her incurred expenses because we had chosen to go to dinner.My Philosophy has always been in ANY job give 100%, and if you dont want that job, dont choose it as your profession.So, in a nutshell...The food here has been cold the last three times we have gone; the wait staff has been horrible, we waited over an hour for our food ...not once, not twice, but three consecutive times. Dont worry about ordering an appetizer, because it will be served to you at the same exact time your entrees arrive! The portion sizes have decreased, the options on the menu has decreased, the prices have INCREASED, & seemingly there is no work ethic with ANYONE that "works" here....Sadly, another favorite place of ours to frequent is no more. We will not be returning to this location.

Update: This place is fantastic!!!! Let’s start with customer care; it’s out of this world. There’s the occasional checking on the person each server is serving, but the managers even walk the floors and are super friendly. They even engage with your kids if you have one, showing them how to play the games on the tablet provided per table. Not only are their appetizers delicious, but their main dishes are out of this world, and the prices aren’t so bad. This is also the first place that’s made the best spinach dip for chips. The only place so far since I’ve been to Texas. No one has yet to beat it. This restaurant isn’t a hit-or-miss type of restaurant. It’s an always-hit it restaurant. Come and enjoy it yourself. Im an active duty good fanatic. This is all I do taste and critique, hahaUpdate: I thought all cheddar was the same and would taste amazing. However, this place beats all of the cheddar in Virginia. The croissants here are much better, and you taste sweets, not butter.

Went on Friday afternoon, the restaurant was not too busy, service was quick, hot and good. Butter Croissant 🥐 wasn’t as fresh as previous visits.

Food is great; the setting is extremely comfortable. The customer service during my visits has always been pleasant. I highly recommend.

I enjoyed my first visit to Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen. The staff was friendly and hospitable. Be prepared to wait 45 mins to an hour to be seated though! The majority of the items on the menu are fried and smothered in coconut syrups, flours, and flavors. The croissants are the absolute best! I’d return to the restaurant just to scarf down two baskets of these buttery croissants alone. Oh! And how could I forget about Cheddar’s Painkiller. It truly lives up to its name, it takes away all the pain you’re feeling inside and is an absolute killer drink. That aside, the food is honestly okay and a good go-to for days when you want to cheat on your diet and go ham on those carby crunchy calories.

I had forgotten how good cheddars food taste because its been awhile since Ive eaten there. Well they made a believer out of me again. I tried the chicken tenders and ribs combo. All I can say is it was off the chain. Enjoyed every bite and it didnt cost an arm and leg for it. The tenders were tasty and not overly breaded and ribs were tender meaty and full of flavor. Matter of fact they were so good my 19 yr old daughter asked me if she could have some and I gleefully told her no way you have to get your own. Oh well its ok to be selfish sometimes😅. Five star all the way🤩🤩

Good food. Ok service. 1 appetizer 20 minutes behind others. My steak was over cooked. Booth had bad smell. See photos. Silver wear dirty. Needs MANAGEMENT upgrade if that is the best dining experience they can offer. Not a smart seating arrangement. Needs work. I WILL follow up in future. E central Texas expressway location. Good luck Cheddars. You got some work to do.

The food here is mostly scratch, but they do breading and fried really well. The server couldnt hear our order, so they didnt bring both appetizers and instead of Country-Fried-Chicken they brought out Chicken-Fried Steak. I wasnt a fan of the latter, but none-the less it was well crafted for someone who might order it. Id like to go back during lunch when it isnt so busy and give it a second chance.

Food and service is getting worse and worse. Ordered salmon dinner, it was lunch portion, it was bland, broccoli cheese casserole was mostly cheese very little broccoli. Waited for refill on lemonade. Food is bland anymore and portions have gotten smaller. Its disappointing being there anymore.

The food was delicious but the serving size was skimpy. The server was attentive, nice and cheerful. Pleasant atmosphere

I have not been to this cheddars in over ten years. We wanted to celebrate new beginnings and my friends mother. 1. The wait was so long we got bored looking at each other. The server was nice and pleasant but we didn’t get a second batch of croissant until after we had paid for our food. Everyone loved there food and the only complaint was I didn’t get to meet the cook who prepared our delicious lunch. The facility was clean and practicing social distancing but I saw a lot of empty tables. Me personally I would rather sit at a table waiting than to wait outside of a restaurant for two hours. I cannot say that I will come back again but the food was superb and I do highly recommend this as a date night, family night, or just get out the house great atmosphere

I always enjoy myself coming here, but this go round it was a waiter and he did not check on us so we asked the manager if we could get moved. The manager told him that we wanted to move because of him and he said out loud I DONT CARE IF THEY WANNA MOVE. I thought that was soooo rude and nasty and not professional at all. Then the manager told us we would have to go back on the waiting list because we wanted to move. The whole situation put a bitter taste in my mouth. So it will be a while before I ever come back to this location. We usually come here often.

This was our first time. Not a good impression at all.We sat down. Waited 5 minutes till a server came to ask us our drinks. We ordered our drinks and an appetizer and decided that we already knew what we wanted so we ordered the 16 oz steaks as well. We got our appetizers and our drinks with no napkins. Then we waited an additional 10 minutes before we even got napkins and I had asked for extra Ranch and that took them about 20 minutes.Then before were even done with our appetizers they bring our steaks. We ordered salads but didnt get them until after we got the steaks. And guess what we still didnt have? Silverware to eat our steaks with. Then they brought out the salads still no silverware. We then told the waiter we wanted to speak with a manager. When the manager comes up are steaks are sitting in front of us and she asks us whats wrong with our steaks and why we arent eating them. Told her it would be kind of hard to eat without any silverware. Even after telling the manager it still took an additional 10 minutes to get silverware. My husband got up and went to the bathroom and came back hoping thered be silverware. They took our steaks back and then brought us new ones but were out of baked potatoes.Just seems like they did not care at all about the waste of food or the waste of our time waiting to eat with our food sitting in front of us but no silverware. The manager called the entire meal except for a draft beer. All in all horrible service horrible customer service horrible food. Dont go to this one try another.Pictures below show all of our food on the table with no silverware! Our steaks were being redone because they got cold waiting for 15 almost 20 minutes for silverware on top of the time we had already waited for silverware alone.

It was my first time here and I loved it! I had the steak & tenders and I was really impressed. The setting puts you at ease, the servers are really friendly, and it didn’t take long for us to get our food. If you’re looking for a nice place that’s easy on ya wallet, this is it!

I just LOVE cheddars 👍🏽 Food was good and service was ok. I go here a lot. Sometimes they on point and sometimes they slow. But my food is always great.

I usually order from this restaurant alot and have always have a phenomenal experience, however when I decided to call in an order today the lady who answered the phone was very rude. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and decided to just go ahead with the order. Called at 4:30....I arrived at the establishment at 4:53pm and called like I was instructed to do to let them know I was outside and what spot number I was in. A different lady I spoke to whom seemed nicer told me someone would be out in a few..... 5:25pm a lady finally comes out to collect my payment mind you I only ordered one entree and one side. Customer service was very rude and not up to par. It shouldnt have taken that long with me and one other car waiting for someone to come out and acknowledge the people waiting outside. Understand being short staff (I dont know if they actually were short-staffedbut at least common courtesy would be to come out apologize for the wait..... just a common acknowledgement and not even that was given for and then when the lady came out of the order she had a bit of an attitude. Will not be coming back to this establishment very unacceptable. And now Im home looking at my order and it was very sloppily put together. I usually always no mattwr what leave a tip...im glad I didnt this time. 17.83 down the drain. *the thing on my fork is a fry I think* didnt order fries. (Alfredo with no meat* croissant..and a side salad)

The food and ambiance are pretty good. We got the country fired chicken and the lemon pepper chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The drinks are pretty good, at least the frozen strawberry margarita and pain killer. I also had the Texas sweet tea, vodka, but I wasnt a huge fan.

Rocky starting off, after being seated it took a server about 10 minutes to greet me and ask for my beverage. My meal was missing broccoli and rice. 🍚 The rice took a long time to be brought out as well. The food was pretty decent nonetheless, server was polite, 3 stars from me❗️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really good food. The spinach dip appetizer is awesome. Better than the food is the service. If you go there be sure to get Whitney as your server, he is the best Ive seen in a long time around here. Highly recommend. My wife is very picky and Whitney got everything perfect.

My girl friend came in to the place and found it full of people. That is good and I am glad to see that the people were enjoying their dining experiences. Our server sat us in a very clean table and the server got our drink order very quickly. We ordered our appetizer and with in a matter of 5 to 10 mins we had our onion rings and ranch sause. We both ordered our dinner and it really was tasty. We have to say the meatloaf was huge slices and they were the size of Texas toast. The potatoes were very healthy and plentiful. The green beans were nice and soft and the salad was really fresh. Our drinks were never flat and ice cold; witch is a good thing. The ranch dip was quite amazing and tasted like real fresh dressing should taste. The server even gave us plenty of napkins and was polite and friendly as we would hope to find when going out to eat. The price was just right for a date night and we will come back again in the future.

Walked in around 3:15PM on a Tuesday, so naturally it goes without saying the restaurant is not even close to busy and seating shouldnt take 10 minutes. Nevertheless it did take 10 minutes to seat my wife my child and myself at a table due to them cleaning the table for us. Well I posted a picture of the table beside us that stayed filthy the entire time we eat our lunch and never did get cleaned, along with food stains and smudges all over my food menu. The fried were overcooked and tasted like they were cooked in week old oil. The bacon looks like it sat out for a year then they threw it into the microwave. The staff was super friendly, but I will not visit this location ever again. As soon as I grabbed the grubby menu it left a bad taste in my mouth and I couldnt enjoy any part of my experience at this Cheddars location. Management should take just a little pride in having a clean restaurant. Especially during the week during slow hours..

Cheddars never disappoints. They have generous plate sizes for a fair price. The cheddar broccoli casserole is absolutely delicious! I always get the grilled white fish plate, but Ill branch out eventually. My husband had the rib & chicken combo plate with a "pain killer" drink.

My wife and our friends ate dinner here on a Tuesday night. They were not busy, and there was only four of us. Overall the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, and clean. We were greeted by an overly timid and clumsy host who even stepped on my shoe and almost fell over. Once seated we waited for a server for almost half an hour, when she finally showed up she was extremely flushed and complained about how busy she was. She took our drink order and again dissapeared, this continued throughout the meal. We barely flagged her down for one drink refill. 3 of us ordered steaks and they were all cooked correctly and tasted great, Although they were a bit cold when they got to us.
