The mausoleum is very impressive! What is absolutely not acceptable is what happened to our rental car if you dont park it in the little parking of the orange building (we think it MIGHT be safer), but use the great parking spots all around the statue/mausoleum.After our visit, we came back to our rental car and saw a car parked weirdly at the back of ours. We were the only ones walking up and the only car there, before we could check anything they drove away.We were going on to Havana on the autopista, and arrived at the big crossroad, a berline with 4 people blocked us and 2 got out, the left one started yelling and gesticulating, talking absolute gibberish about not being allowed to take the lane to the autopista. The one on the right escaped to our attention, which was clearly the aim.Our right tire at the back was suddenly very badly punctured and completely flat, the guy on the left did not have enough time, because I drove away as soon as I had room to do so.We were immediately accosted by a guy on a bike trying to make us drive further up to a place where police was present, seemingly. But no, they were no policemen. I refused to budge, told him we would not go to that garage but that wed solve it on our own. 2 completely flat tires would have been an entirely different story of course. We put our spare wheel on the right, the left back tire was deflating slowly. We drove carefully onto the autopista until the next gas station, no air, all broken. Then the next, same story. Luckily a yellow taxi driver signalled us to come over and pumped up our tire with his own tire inflator. But clearly, we would not get to Havana. And finding inflators in tank stations is near impossible, except in Jagüey. Where we also found a Cubacar office and they very promptly and professionally replaced our tires. But strangely enough, no Cuban we told reacted in any way.And our Cuban friends keep saying: there is no criminality in Cuba.Well, be warned. There is.

Whether you respect the character and work of Che Guevara or not, its good that this place exists and should be visited.Personally, I expected a little more, primarily in the amount of personal items. I am not clear on the real reason why photography is prohibited.

Worth visiting place but no photos allowed inside of the museum. We saw so many students were there for their revolutionary education. The statue of Che was a good work. Huge open space in front of the statue for you to take photos.

We came to Santa Clara a whole day to visit the Che Guevara museum. But its a small museum, there are some pictures and stuff that he used. We were done in less than an hour. So if you only want to visit the museum its not necessary to spend the whole day in Santa Clara.

The museum and the memorial are both around the back of the statue - just go down from the statue, turn right, and go all the way around the statue to the middle, it is all under the statue. To get there from the town is pretty easy, it is a 20 minute walk through normal Cuban suburbs

Touch great history of CubaI have watched a Japanese movie named Ernesto about real Japanese Bolivian who fighted with Che Guevara. So, when I visit the tomb, I was so moved. I highly recommend you to watch a movie about people who fighted in Bolivia with Che Guevara. Unless watching these movies, you would not understand what kind of people sleep there and just recognize that there is tomb of Che Guevara.

Nice museum and set-up. If you are in or moving through Santa Clara it is worth a visit. It is not worth to take a trip from Havana, Trinidad or Varadero except you are Che or revolutiom fan.

From the Cuban point of view this is the place you should have been in your life. For a tourist who lives in the western world this museum and monument is a bit too much for one person. For a one hour visit it is interesting.

Very informative and well kept. Not a large site. A lot of artifacts from Che Guevara.Air conditioning in the museum. You cannot bring your bag or camera into the museum at all. Leave them on the bus/car or you will not get entry. Wish I could have brought mine in.The washroom was a bit sketchy. Had to pay for usage. Bring your own tp. And hand cleaner as the taps were not working great.Small bookstore in the back further from the washrooms.

A must-see when you are in Santa Clara. My fav was the museum which gives valuable insights into the live of Ernesto "Che" Guevara. There are some officers around that patrol the compound. Mostly friendly but dont do anything to provoke them. Follow their remarks without questioning them. You will be fine.

My sole purpose of going to Santa Clara was to visit Che Guevera museum and I am glad I made all the efforts to be there. We stayed a night in Santa Clara, it was a great experience to see the small worn out city along with this well-kept Museum. It’s not a huge museum but it’s absolutely a good history lesson to understand this famous and somewhat controversial personality. The Museum hosts items used by Che and 29 of his fellow revolutionaries. You can feel their struggle for revolution through the items and pictures. It’s free of charge however mobile phones and cameras are not allowed to take inside. You will have to deposit those before you enter. At the time we visited, it wasn’t as crowded as mentioned by some of the reviews I read. There is a small café and a small souvenir shop next to it too.If you are planning your trip to Cuba and crossing by Santa Clara, I would highly recommend a detour and visit this place (of course only if you are interested in Cuban revolution and Che)

The Che Guevara Mausoleum is a memorial in Santa Clara, Cuba. It houses the remains of revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara and twenty-nine of his fellow combatants killed in 1967 during Guevaras attempt to spur an armed uprising in Bolivia. The full area which contains a bronze 22-foot statue of Guevara is referred to as the Ernesto Guevara Sculptural Complex.Guevara was buried with full military honors on 17 October 1997 after his exhumed remains were discovered in Bolivia and returned to Cuba. At the site, there is a museum dedicated to Guevaras life and an eternal flame lit by Fidel Castro in his memory.Santa Clara was chosen as the location in remembrance of Guevaras troops taking the city on December 31, 1958, during the Battle of Santa Clara. The result of this final battle of the Cuban Revolution was Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista fleeing into exile.

This is a must see site for anyone travelling Cuba and trying to understand the history of the Revolution. Che and Fidels desire to support oppressed people around world is an important part of the of the legacy of the Cuban revolution. The small museum honoring Ches fallen fellow fighters from the ill-fated Bolivia campaign is a very touching part of whole monument. Shows the strong desire to honor all the individuals who have fought on the peoples side that can be traced throughout museums of the revolution across the country.

Where: Che Guevara Mausoleum - Santa Clara, CubaWhat: A monument and kind of museum for CheHow was it: We wanted to visit this place because we only hear great things of Che but rarely have the opportunity to visit a historical site. Especially when you are on the Cayo, which is approx 1h30 from Santa Clara. We did that trip 2x, once when we were heading to the resort (luckily we were the first off the busand the other time to visit the city. It was raining one day and we decided to take a taxi. The problem is that we took it too late in the day and we arrived at this location with 15-20 minutes to spare. They are very protective (understandablyso they dont allow you to bring cameras or bags. It was free to enter but we barely got to visit as they rushed us out of the museum. We spent more time on the memorial part, which is kind of a inside cemetery with small waterfall. It felt very zen there. Then we spent some time taking pictures of the statue outside. Check us out on Facebook, we have more pictures there.Grade: Eli = 2, Serge = 4Recommend: Well, its a nice thing to do, just expensive and lengthy drive from the Cayo. We recommend you go with a plan, get a taxi and spend the day around. Thats what we would do, should we have to redo it.

The square is fairly large and is completely empty except for the monument and some billboards with slogans. The Monument is rather big and has some interesting details.I couldnt get inside the Mausoleum itself as it is closed on Mondays which you will not know unless youll get there as there is no such thing as public opening hours available anywhere. This monument is also featured on 3 CUC banknote.
