Pretty low key, inside is nothing great, but food is solid

Used to love this place you will actually see my wife’s 5 star review from 11 months ago if you scroll down. They have kept raising the prices, which I get inflation is getting us all….. so for my last couple of visits, I decided to get the regular burrito for 9.99 instead of the super burrito to save some money, then tonight they charged an extra 2.09 for queso cheese on my burrito(which I have ordered for the last year without telling me that is an extra charge now! They keep giving you less and less toppings, now they overcharge on everything. Ain’t worth the price gouging. And customer service has really declined.

This place was great for a while. Now, (check your receipttheyre changing YOU for their credit card fees. Also, theyve become quite rude late night. Additionally, be careful how they ring things up, because you just might be getting charged for items you didnt order. Come on guys..... Do better

the food was good, but the quality isn’t high enough to make up for the lack of customer service or the price tag. we were over charged for food and treated like we were stupid over simple, on the menu, requests. i asked for a side of rice with a quesadilla and instead they replaced the lettuce, guacamole, pico, and sour cream that came WITH the quesadilla (per listed on the menuwith the rice (also listed on the menu as a sideand was told “no” repetitively when asked why that was what was happening. i was charged the full price for the quesadilla and the rice.

This place used to be amazing, but the employees are the rudest individuals i’ve ever met. They get mad when you ask for certain toppings and the man threw lettuce on my nachos and then shut it before i was even done asking for things and gave it to the cashier. Not friendly staff. need training on customer service. do better.

Food is always good but they know you’re drunk and intentionally overcharge you, and low key kinda rude but can’t fault them for the crowd they have to deal with. Overall quality of food makes up for the bad stuff some, would visit again.

It was great honestly, went there with my friends foe the first time ever getting drunk and got laughed at by the entire staff all night for being complete idiots. The chips and salsa were wonderful and the people are genuinely really kind.

Not much of a selection. For a Mexican restaurant it wasnt that good. The food was like a upscale Taco bell. The guy taking our order was really impatient.

First time I went to chavas was on hoco 2017. I had the bowl and became obsessed so now every time I come back to muncie I HAVE to stop at chavas. There is a variety of meats and they give big portions for the same price as chipotle and qdoba! 10/10 recommend this place over chipotle or qdoba. Please expand towards indianapolis!

its the closest youll get to authentic Mexican in Muncie, but designed like a qdoba or chipotle... not bad, good portions by far my favorite, just sucks getting charged for queso even when you dont order any

Charged me $18 for chips and queso… told them that is not right. Got $9 in cash back… was charged $9 for queso when it was $6. Also lost 2 burritos (friend ordered themsomehow and acted like we stole them……..

Food is good, when theyre willing to make it. Most of the time they cant be buggered to work with the chorizo on their own menu.

I absolutely loved their chimichanga. It was phenomenal but I must note that I came down with food poisoning. Less than 6 hours after eating it.

My husband has been telling me about this place for months. I finally got to try it and it was amazing! I got the nachos and they were delicious, my oldest son (4 yrswho won’t eat tacos at home ate his whole meal and said it was the best taco ever! Definitely the best Mexican food in Muncie.

Definitely a hidden gem on campus. I would consider this a truly authentic Mexican eat. Relaxed environment with friendly staff. Excellent value for your money. I choose this place over many of the larger restaurants in Muncie. Definitely deserves your business and you will return for more!

We took the family to Chavas to get some authentic El pastor tacos which is some of our favorite meat choices when we eat Mexican food but a lot of places dont carry this option of meat but occasionally when we find it we always get it but normaly you have to get it the way its served, even in Las Vegas when we had it we stood in line for about 1 hour and you get your El pastor tacos with cilantro and then they give you a choice of mild or hot sauce. But at Chavas right here in Muncie Indiana on the campus stripe they really hook you up they make it fresh right and front of you, with all the choice toppings you could ever want, like queso, green onions, shredded cheese, pico digallo, white onions, cilantro, and more. And we originally tried to go to the Mexican restaurant next to Wendys on Madison Avenue but they were closed so that makes Chavas even better because they are open late.

I loved it. I was there Saturday late at night the place was full of energy and people and they had fresh and delicious food even after midnight. The staff was doing awesome job.

Everything I have ordered is delicious! The pork is so tender and fresh. I usually get the pork nachos. I love the Horchata. Weve never had a bad experience.

The food was great. One of the employees was extremely disrespectful and was hitting on girls in the restaurant including my gf made both of us feel uncomfortable and will not return. It’s a shame because the food was good.

Now don’t get be wrong the food here is absolutely delicious, there is new college student working there who is extremely disrespectful. Why say you are open until 3am, but then say you’re closing at 12 over the phone. I got there last night at around 10:45pm. At 11 they stopped taking orders and refused service to people. The worker Arturo went into the middle of the restaurant at 11:13pm and said “I will say this politely, but you all need to get the f**k out.” I have never been so shocked to hear a worker say this customers. Will not be back very disappointed.

I ordered Chavas on DoorDash (first time I’ve ever tried itand got a burrito add a side of sour cream, and a side of beans. What was delivered to me was a box of ground beef (no tortilla or sour cream or anything), a side of beans, and a side of rice. $15 and I waited 45 minutes for it. Thoroughly disappointed

On top of creating some of the best authentic Mexican cuisine in Delaware county, theyre fast, clean, and friendly! Love their bottled soda selection.

The food here is phenomenal. The people are amazingly friendly. I suggest the pastor definitely, but I have yet to have anything that was not stellar. The Horchata is awesome. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I told my best friend about it (certified ACA chef and pastry chef T Total FoodieHe said this I have to see. (I notoriously HATE mexican foodWell he was impressed too. This a Muncie Must Try listing for me. Get over there you wont regret it.

The food is ok not the best. This woman working was very rude I accidentally dumped my drink over at the counter and she refused to give me a new drink she got mad and said have a good night definitely will not be going back there. That is very poor customer service and do not appreciate the way she was acting the whole time preparing my food and getting all huffy puffy the whole time.

Great Mexican restaurant in the village of Muncie! Right by Ball State. Great location, great food! I love that they have olives and lots of other vegetable options. Their chips and queso is really great too! Must have! Employees make great food and are also nice. Definitely great restaurant to go to if you’re at BSU!

Food is most delicious. The place is a bit pricey, but the portion sizes are huge. Their pastor (porkis very flavourful and you cant go wrong with their grilled chicken. Restaurants music is rather loud, but it does add to the Hispanic vibe theyre going for. Great place to go in a group or dates (could share a meal easily and be satisfied).

This is the BEST food!! It is one of the few places open laaate that isnt a diner. Prices are fair, portions are giant, and the employees are so nice!

First visit and loved it. Excellent spices, hearty portions, and lots of protein options. I had the burrito, and I couldnt eat it all, even though I tried. Fresh, delicious, big helpings at a good price. Get that in your belly!

DELICIOUS!! Build-your-own style Mexican food, so you can add whatever options fit your cravings. We tried several different dishes and everything was better than expected. Definitely a repeat visit type of place!

This place puts Chipotle and other competitors to absolute shame. Chavas has the speed and customization of the corporate chains like Chipotle, but with the higher quality food and friendly staff of an authentic Mexican restaurant. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. 10/10, would recommend to anyone!

Great food, great hourly employees, magement is very poor. I visit the location at least 4 times a week, and up to 6 times a week. The regular employees do an excellent job. I cant stress how great a job they do night in and night out. Its really awesome. However, management doesnt have the reward system set up correctly, so when I visit often enough to get a reward, management wont honor it, because our location is new enough that my reward falls in another district, terra haute, that they dont honor it in Muncie, eventhough I live in Muncie, and redeem my points here in muncie. On top of that, the manager regularly makes my burrito and when he rolls it up, it rips to pieces, and I get sent home with it. However, when an hourly employee sets me up with a burrito that rips, he rewraps it, and sends me home with a great burrito. If management took the same pride in their work the the rest of their employees did, and honored their loyal customers this location would be an 11/10. Its really sad to see management hold back a great promising business!

The Village has needed this place for a long time. Its your typical Qdoba or Chipotle, but with a larger menu, open until 4 am, and its locally owned. Im so glad this place is here.

I think overall a good Mexican restaurant. I’m holding off on a 5 star because of the prices, not sure they ingredients are all worth those prices, but the tacos are great and they are generous with their portions and have fairly good service.

Chavas hands down the best “street Mexican food” in town. I got the shredded beef tacos and WOW, it’s a bit pricey. But they have just opened and seam to use fresh produce. 10/10 👍🏼👍🏼
