Well-run karaoke and good beer... what more could you want?

Went here with some friends. The atmosphere is great and the boss man is awesome too! Good food and beer all around. Had a great time here- gonna take my other friends here too!

This is a little dive restaurant. I had a good salmon burger with great fries. My guest tried to have the butter chicken but it was not available. Had the signature burger and fries...said they were good. They are good at customizing your orders and listen to your requests. The menu is very limited...dont even serve a cup of tea, more bar like. My thoughts are the place is very very worn looking and could use a real scrub from floor to ceiling. So my rating is on the overall experience.

I had an amazing time singing Karaoke here with my friends last Friday. I love that it is a small, cozy place with positive vibes. Everyone was having a great time and even the bartenders were singing their hearts out. I 100% recommend!!!

Small portions.. I hate to give a negative review, but disappointed, the two piece fish and chips, the fish pieces( I am not exaggeratingwere literally a tablespoon size piece of fish each! And a pile of fries...for $18! And one of the pieces of fish was 50% batter! Wont be back..

The place is great to enjoy good music and karaoke as well as good food, the employees are very friendly and provide excellent service, I highly recommend it I had a good experience🙏🏻👍🏻

Service was good but fish and chips were more chips and little fish.

The chicken Cesar salads we ordered were terrible, the salad was so warm the parmesan was sweating by the time we got them, the lettuce was weak and limp. No mention/warning when ordering that the chicken was just rinsed butter chicken (if a menu doesnt specify I think most of us just assume its going to be grilled). Wings & pizza were better but burnt. Terrible meal... Maybe just a one-off but Ill never know because I wont ever eat there again. Staff was friendly enough but didnt say anything to us about our untouched food... Im guessing they werent surprised.

What an amazing little place! Came across this gem after an evening at the beach and so pleasantly surprised. Great crowd and really nice staff!

The Owner was great and greeted us when we came in. Service and food was great. This is a long time establishment worth it and also, karaoke!

BEWARE* As a local in the area I’ve been here many times, I didn’t realise untill it was pointed out to me by an old employee of this place a while back,the owner does not share any tips with his servers, as is illegal in BC, the owner also has a habit of overcharging on bills ( has happened to me here on one occasion and i now hear he is charging sky high prices for freezer isle food and bad/ wrongly made drinks…. So many better bars in kitsilano to pick from, do not give this crook your business!!!

I played the open mic. Josh (the gentleman running itdid and fantastic job including everyone and making a safe space to play for all levels.After the open mic Amy ran a karaoke night and she did a fantastic job including everyone and making a great night overall.The service was also on point and everyone had a great time.

I wish I sang karaoke. The service was great. The atmosphere was wicked. I want to model part of my home like it. Food was great.

There is karaoke daily (except Monday), which I love. Everyone gets into it. The host John is great, friendly. Broad song selection. Crowd varies from student age to older couples. Quite a mixed crowd. Bar hosts are awesome, we have had some fun times.

My half chicken was a revelation to the taste buds. Super interesting decor, great screen over bar, nice staff. Cant wait for the next time 👅Update to May 25th 2022. Im sure the pandemic has been tough on everyone. To spare the words whether good or bad Ill just say this:Bring back the great food from a few years ago and get karaoke rocking again 🎙️😉👌

A little on the pricier side for drinks, but the vibe will keep you around. Live music (often i think), friendly crowd, and helpful staff!P.s the charqui burger and lager are grand!

Went for dinner and karaoke. Small menu but the drinks are cold and the staff is super cool. Everyone at karaoke was friendly and supportive. Some great voices were there and the guy running it did an amazing job!

TL,DR: Easily the worst drinking/eating experience Ive had in this city - avoid this place. Longer details:We were ignored upon entering the place.. First red flag. Tried to order a beer and a margarita with half-rim salt. The server did not know anything about the beers - they couldnt tell me what kind of beer it was from its brand name, or whether they had what I wanted. Red flag number 2. They also didnt understand the idea of applying the salt to only half the rim on the margarita glass, despite multiple times explaining. Bartender came over to table after ordering to ask so he could understand. Despite these red flags (should have trusted the red flags and my intuition and left!), I also ordered a salmon burger and olives.When the olives and margarita came out, they were TERRIBLE. Olives tasted like they came out cheap grocery store jars - poor quality, poor flavour, worse texture. Margarita was unbelievably bad for $16. Bar lime + Jose Cuervo over chipped ice. Realizing this was a lost cause, we asked to cancel the burger, and for a refund on unconsumed and awful quality items. The bartender then didnt deal with it, brought the burger anyway, and tried to dodge the issue. I asked again, at which time it was clear he was checking with some management/owner guy in the corner. I offered to split the losses and take $20 bucks back after having spent $60 on this awful experience. No go - owner guy was an asshat about it, made no attempt to improve anything.Seriously - if youre thinking about checking this place out, save yourself your money and pain and go to one of the other excellent places within a 10 minute walk of here. Absolutely avoid this place.

Awesome karaoke spot with a wide song selection and great KJs. Staff all around are friendly and the space has a great neighborhood vibe.

Checked out the open mic here and really enjoyed. It wasn’t just musicians either, but some comedy as well. Cute neighbourhood spot that also apparently has good pizza. Will def return!

I believe consistency is key , and that’s exactly what i experienced over here. Service is always great and the karaoke nights are always a good time

Segregation and bad attitude at its finest! My girlfriend and I went to Corduroy restaurant on Christmas eve only to find it closed. We noticed Charqui across the street, it was open. The hostess was escorting us to our table, asked for vaxxports when we were almost there. I dont have one. I was a bit surprised, as this type of discrimination is always shocking...kinda thought shed seat us, as the place was nearly empty. I said, "really?" slightly incredulously. She rolled her eyes, told us to get out, and walked away. Merry Christmas! Ive been refused service since at other places, it can be tough to tell from the outside whether its a segregated establishment or not, so often the only way to know is to try. Many places are very kind, apologizing profusely for the government mandates to deny some humans service. Not this place - the waitress could not have been more rude. Will never consider going here again, would urge anyone with a conscience not to either. Disgusting.

I took a group of 20+ people here for Karaoke. The owner Sanjay was easy to deal with. The Karaoke hosts were on time and efficient in playing the songs. The place was clean and cozy. Free underground parking. Nice neighborhood. The staff were busy but they were all pleasant.It was a fun evening indeed, on the first weekend after the restrictions were lifted! I received good feedback from the attendees on the venue and the food, and now they want to do this monthly. :pThank you for accommodating us! We had a great time.

The food is okay but I saw that the East Indian owner is exploiting his staff by paying them minimum wage using the tips only! Highly unethical considering that restaurant staff depend on tips to make a living. That in itself is enough to avoid this place!

Extremely disappointing. I am doing a sober month so I asked for what options they have for non alcoholic beverages. For juice to add to soda they have cran, apple and orange juice (no grapefruit or pineapple? What kind of cocktails are you serving here?). I ordered a ginger ale in the end with lime, but received lemon. What kind of bar doesn’t have lime wedges?For food I ordered the angus burger. It arrived with a bun that was so hard I couldn’t even bite into it, it was basically a hockey puck. Sent it back and when they brought it back it was pretty alright.As I was there for a friends open mic night and wanted to keep my energy up for a few more acts, I ordered a cup of coffee. The server seemed nervous and had to check in with the owner every 5 minutes over every ask. She came back 10 minutes later to tell me that she didn’t have coffee. I pointed to the coffee beans that were out in clear sight and she just shrugged and said I don’t know?I then decided it was time to go and asked for my bill, which arrived 20 minutes later after asking 3 times.I will admit I’ve had a great time here when I’ve been boozed up singing karaoke with friends. But attempting to come to open mic while not drinking was one of the most disappointing hospitality experiences I’ve had in Vancouver.Up your game Sanjay, you’re better than this. Considering there are a lot of people cutting back on booze in these times perhaps try getting some non-alcohol options. And encourage your chef to ask themselves if they would eat the food they’re serving.

We hosted our Xmas party here for On Stage Cleaning and it was epic. Everyone was attentive, professional and definitely we will be back. Thank you Mike for being so cheerful and so professional at what you do. 😎👊This is the SPOT in Vancouver if you wanna have fun with great apples and excellent staff to make sure you have fun fun fun. I will go back with my friends.

Unbelievable!! This place charges tip over tip!! The owner was sooo drunk to understand that he was charging the 18% tip (because we were 6+ on the table, totally understandablebut on top of that he charged over 20% of tips. He even offered me 20$ of beers on next time! Definitely he knew he was wrong LOL. But he was so wasted to listen to us!! Poor the waitress, they knew that was wrong, she said sorry to me so many times and asked me to talk to the owner (of course this happened before, just read the other comments!!)! Unbelievable how the owner treat the customers

Possibly the worst food Ive ever had at a restaurant. Fish and chips was burnt, and dry. I sent it back and was served another order of burnt fish and chips. My girlfriend and I both left feeling sick. Worst $60 Ive ever spent.

What a great lil karaoke spot! Seemed to have regulars and the staff was quite friendly. When visiting again, we will be back!

We had happy hour drinks here with some colleagues - great service, cute little patio and nice selection of wine. The coconut shrimp were delicious!

Used to go here all the time for karaoke, and it recently reopened. There was a $10 cover, but the servers and the karaoke host were told that it would go towards your bill. At the end of the night everyone had an extra $10 on their bill regardless of how much they spent. In other words the owner straight up scammed everyone. Terrible way to treat your regulars, never going back.

The owner here is the worst owner Ive ever met from a bar. They just restarted kareoke here with a $10 transferable cover, where if you buy at least $10 for drinks you wouldnt owe on the tab. But after spending over $100 drinking tonight I found that we still owe $10 more because they changed the policy while we were here. This is morally reprehensible behavior and I cannot support this place and I do not recommend others support it either.

By far my most favourite grilled wings EVER! I cannot recommend them enough, along with the chicken caesar wrap (+crispy bacon+cheese=YUM). The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which is one of the reasons why I keep going back. This has been a staple in Kits for sure!You cant go wrong with the live music either, or when they used to have karaoke nights?! Which brings me to a cherished memory: My 2nd date with my now husband (married Mar 7/20). It was the first time hed let loose and I saw his true colors. We are happily married now and keep going back to Charquis for date nights whenever we can ^_^

Missing my man Sanjay and his awesome team at Charqui!Looking at recent posts is making me feel homesick....Wont be back for a year or more and hope that when I do, they can be firing on all cylinders with no COVID restrictions!Great staff, patrons, location and of course the food, music! Loved it! Great menu. Great live music too, well worth the extra $5 for the live music.

Unfortunately a miss for us. Nachos were $16 and came over-cooked, cheese was hard and chips were burnt. Drinks were ok, and service was fine- although our hostess was not wearing a mask but the bartender inside was.

Amazing Gastro Pub! Came to the pub my first night alone just exploring my new neighborhood and met some lovely new friends and go back often as they have amazing beer and super relaxed friendly atmosphere. Karaoke on Saturday too!!!!!!

I love the environment, very good service and the wings are my favourites 😊the karaokes night are super funny and a good place for meet new people.Once a have been there on comedy Wednesday. 100% recomended.

Is a good place for share with friends, the best staff and the hot wings with the coldest beer are the amazing switch!I love the Monday’s has HAPPY HOUR ALL DAY! Good deals!And I have been there on the karaoke nights ands is always a good choice for a different night!

Nice atmosphere. Friendly bartender. My first pub butter chicken (I eat Indian weeklyand it was actually quite good! Poutine was decent. Spare rib appetizer should avoided (dry dry ruins).

We went a few times and enjoyed Gogans karokeeWe drank our soda pop and ate our cool fries the friendly waitresses are of good humourIt was a nice outing, Until the night we met the owner I arrived before my friend and ordered 2 sodas for 10$ while I waited, we were going to eat when he arrived. But when he got there the owner approached him and questioned who he was with and told my friend to sit down and be quiet. We are not drinkers but good eaters. To say the least this guy is rude and bad for his own business. I spoke with other friends and they also shared how they were treated badly by the owner, so NO I will never return there, it sucks cause it’s a nice location and lovely staff, but the owner should stay away he is Bad for business!

This is either my third or fourth time here. What a great find in Kitsilano especially on Sundays and other themed nights thats offered. Bartending staff is very prompt servicewise, along with the clientele is very diverse! Amazing place to find yourself and never disappoints!!!

We came spontaneously for lunch and there was only one charming girl working there - doing EVERYTHING. She set or table, made our drinks (delicious), cooked our food, was cleaning the place in the meantime. Really a hard worker!!! Our food was very good. The chicken wings were small but super flavorful. One star of deduction for their size. The service though was 5 stars!
