We had the best time! Visiting from vegas, and loved the atmosphere and drinks.

Lovely and accommodating staff, great food and vibes and view of the city!

Parking is outrageous! $24. Per hour.I came for the first time expecting cool, it is filthy. The rugs, the furniture..yuck! I didnt want to sit on anything with fabric. The bar was closed downstairs at 5pm...cool building and wait staff was kind though...

Loved this place and would definitely return. Gas lit fire was wonderful as it was a bit nippy. Food was good and drinks were nice.

Really cool roof top bar with fire pits for cooler nights. Great cocktail and other drink selections. Booking is essential and we were fortunate to be admitted early.Only downside was that service was a bit slow, but otherwise a pleasant team.Would I go again? Without doubt - great to take friends.

Phenomenal views, dont go there hungry and dont neglect warm layers. Music is cool and vibe is great. Drinks are pretty good but not strong and not cheap. Still an excellent rooftop venue. Reserve well in advance and if you need to go standby make sure you arrive when they open.

Nice ambience, very cozy. Music not to loud just right. Music is very balance not too crazy techno. Good selection of cocktails. Special thanks to Kingston at front door - very accommodating and gave suggestions for parking and valet info.

This is a great little bar with amazing views. Just a shame we had a table where the seats had their back to the view and were so far apart we couldnt hear each other speak. The fire pits at most tables were a nice touch, although super warm at times! The food and drinks were delicious and the service was great.

Super nice and fancy place, but the neighborhood is not safe at night. Too many homeless people. What is the mayor and city doing!!!! Shame.

A perfect mixture of everything you need to satisfy all your senses. The food give off an enticing aroma, and the drinks are strong and complex. All while you listen to amazing music and look at a breath taking view of the city. The staff makes you feel so welcomed. Cant wait to return to back Charmaines!

Visited Charmaines this evening, stunning views and stunning location, lovely fire and incredible bar.But the best part? Raj and T, their service was above and beyond anything I could have expected. Cannot rate this place more.Thank you for making our first night in SF that bit extra special.

Beautiful views, great energy. Items are pretty overpriced, but tasted wonderful! Our waitress was great, but I did not feel like the service was very personal. We had to wave someone down if we needed something. Also not located in the greatest spot, had to walk through some very sketchy areas of SF for decent parking that wasn’t the provided valet service (which as of today is $8 every 20minutes). Overall, I loved my experience here, but I probably wouldn’t come back!

Great atmosphere - from the city views and beautiful, comfortable decor to the great people watching. Music is good but WAY too loud!! Very pricey - one basic drink was $27!

Fantastic rooftop lounge in SF. The service was great, the drinks were made right, and the atmosphere did not disappoint. I will be returning next time I celebrate something.

Cool rooftop bar and restaurant. Nice views of the city and a cool vibes. Great cocktails and hor dourves as well as some burgers, but a bit pricey. Best time to come is just before sunset so you can experience daytime & evening views. Can get chilly in SF, but they provide blankets. Gets pretty busy most nights, so get a reservation if you want to secure a spot.

On a nice clear evening, without the smoke from the pyro displays and fog, this a great hangout spot to gaze at the city lights.However, I couldnt taste/feel the booze in the drinks I ordered. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Admittedly, Im a lightweight. Otherwise 5 stars!*Food was not taken into account, as the kitchen stops orders 2 hours before closing.

This is my second roof top and it was great. We made reservations the night before and it worked out perfectly. I got the Proper cup and hands down the best cocktail Ive ever had. I ordered quiet a few things (may have splurgedand I dont regret a single penny. The seating is comfortable, the staff are attentive and kind, the venue is gorgeous. The food is an amazing experience. Overall I would love to come again when I get the chance.

2 stars for rooftop bar and service only. The biew is great and the servers were nice and attentive.The food was overpriced and not very good. For one example, the crudite came with vegetables that were very sad. There was a bare handful of vegetables with purple cauliflower that had a lot black spots. The lettuce looked unwashed. One piece had visible bird poop on it...

Overall not a great experience. The view is great and the drinks were good, but for what you pay, the food is certainly not worth it. Vegan options are definitely lacking as well. The service was lackluster at best and they messed up 2 of our orders. Would not go back.

I read a few bad reviews about this place, but I wanted to give it a try as my friend and I were having afternoon tea in the hotel at Villon. I made reservations for 4:15pm and was greeted with a friendly smile upon arrival. We were then escorted to the rooftop and greeted by yet another smile upon entry.Once we got to our table, our server Malakai came by to say hello and take our order. We were not quite ready, so he came back later. We really wanted The Big Cat drink but it was served over a big piece of ice; he told me he can see if the bartender can do it up, and they sure did. Malakai to the rescue! What a friendly and attentive server! He asked if we wanted to order any food but we said no, as we just had afternoon tea. I mentioned MAYBE fries a little later.When we were almost done with our first cocktail, the manager whose name I understand is ‘T’, stopped by to check in. This place is just overdosed with friendly employees with lovely smiles. I mean I didn’t mention Terry, who also came by multiple times to check up on us. You will not have an empty drink I tell you, bc they just make sure you order another before you’re done with the other. Btw, an hour later, Malakai asks, “Ready for those fries?”Overall, a lovely place to have drinks. The view is awesome, the cocktails were really good and service beyond expectations thanks to T, Malakai and Terry.FYI – I read something about a $65 min pp, but that only applies to guests of 3+, and it’s mentioned in the OpenTable reservation. For those that say it was not made clear by the server, that’s bc you need to READ carefully.Will definitely be back!

Charmines has a swanky/cool retro vibe and of course commanding views out into the city that come with a great rooftop bar. The drink selection is great and they dont skimp on the pours. Overall a great experience

As a native San Franciscan I can attest to this being one of, if not the spot to chill at on Mid-Market. Great staff and good vibes.

My Nr. 1 Rooftop lounge in San Francisco. You will find it in downtown on top of the Proper Hotel, separate entrance (not the hotel main entrance). Well organised already at floor, you will be accompanied to the right elevator. Arriving at Lounge you are already expected by your host who brings you to the table - either inside or outside. Outside you have obviously a breathtaking view over San Francisco downtown by night. Every lounge has his own fireplace to not get cold. Overall nice people, well dressed, good mix of attractive Ladies and Gentlemen. Amazing drinks, delicious finger food and all topped by super service - place to be!😊

They get 3 stars for the views and aesthetics alone. While its not located in the best part of the City, (Tenderlointhe venue itself is beautiful and the views speak for themselves. The food and drinks were not on par with the cost and they have a minimum that you must spend per person that you can easily spend on drinks with no problem. The food options looked great and the descriptions were great but the execution was not so great. Think cuts of meat with lots of fat. The firepits are amazing and add to the ambiance but the fabric seating was in desperate need of a deep steam cleaning. No idea how the seating could get that dirty just from people sitting unless its dirty from exposure to the elements. The dirty fabric seating really put me off and I am glad that I was wearing pants but had to remind myself not to touch the upholstered seating. Id definitely come back here for the views alone and choose to drink rather than eat and would likely choose to stand and take in the views while doing so. Great place for an hour or so stop for drinks before dinner or heading to another location.

There are not that many nice rooftop bar/lounge in SF due to the windy and relatively unpredictable weather. This one has to be the best one weve been. You get a nice view of Market St, and the city hall at a distance as well as the Salesforce tower on the other end. But its not the view that makes this place special. In a way, its moderate altitude with grassy surroundings is a nice get away from the dirty Tenderloin below.There are many gas-lit fire pits to keep you warm, and it add a unique vibe that you have to be there to experience it. The place is is well designed on top of the Proper Hotel (a Design Hotel collectionin SF. Its art deco style decor brings back the feel of the 80s luxury.The food was great, but not a huge selection. But their full bar can pretty much make you anything you can dream up, and make them to your perfection. We love this place and highly recommend it.

Good views of the city. Bad and expensive drinks overall. We ordered multiple different drinks including a basic margarita. Bad service. They started kicking us out at 11:20 even though they say they’re open until 12. Then they kicked us out at 11:30 without even finishing our drinks.

Amazing views. If you can come for the views but not for service. Burgers were good, drinks ok. We arrived there without reservations on Sunday night, we were told we could have a table for an hour since another reservation didnt show up. When we got up several empty tables with fire were available but they wouldnt sit us there, as they were reserved. We ordered food and drinks, and asked if we could be moved, they said theyll try. We got our food and 45 mins later the other tables were still empty. And were told they were still waiting on reservations to show up. We took some pictures by those tables but the somewhat rude hostess said we needed to move as people were coming.

Make a reservation! The food was tasty. Small portions. The view was spectacular. Drinks are high priced. Only down side was the waitress spilled our drinks on the birthday girl. Other than that the service was great!

What a fun rooftop bar! The views are great, the cocktails are fantastic and unique and the food was interesting and tasty. The fire pits really make a difference for outdoor sitting. I would definitely visit here again for cocktails and/or brunch.

Staff was great. Food was good. View was amazing! My wife got the Baja Tacos and I got the basic Cheeseburger and we both loved it! Definitely a must when visiting the City!

Giving this 4 stars because the ambiance/view is amazing and I would come back for that alone but I was really not impressed by the food or drinks.I LOVED that every group gets their own personal fire pit which actually did a good job of keeping me warm, and the music was nice although some of the other groups were quite loud (which is to be expected).I wasn’t really expecting the food to be good but the burger/fish tacos were really just ok and I would not get either again. The crispy potatoes on the side of the tacos were well done but there wasn’t really a good sauce for them (white sauce was not great).What really surprised me is that I didn’t actually like the drinks either. My grandma got kissing in the California sun which was just super not interesting flavor-wise and I got the crookshanks (bourbon, apérol, chai spice, and Cointreauserved hot which I had high hopes for because I like all of the ingredients but it was too much aperol in my opinion and I honestly debated not finishing it.Kind of disappointing but the vibe was so nice I would totally come back here and get wine or a gin&tonic!

This small urban spot is a must go to while visiting San Francisco. Me and my wife visited for brunch, it was amazing. I can’t even imagine what it must be like for dinner. The food was to die for, and the views were gorgeous. My wife got the waffle and I got the proper breakfast. Every bite was incredible, the service was excellent. I will be coming back for sure.

Make reservations ahead of a visit to the city if youre looking to get in here. It was a really busy place. Beautiful views and very cool outdoor seating and fire pits. The staff was really cool about letting us switch tables a couple of times. There is a $75 min per person on Thurs, Fri and Sat, but thats not hard to do with dinner and a couple of drinks. I had the fish tacos and loved them! Cocktails were great too! There was a mix of people really dressed up and people in jeans and running shoes. Would love to go again!

This restaurant is listed as a “top 20 trendy restaurant” experience, it is indeed an overpriced restaurant with average to below average food. I have never been served a champagne drink with a straw in it, the salad dressing was described as a bacon vinaigrette, it was literally bacon fat with some vinegar splashed on top. The tables were all flimsy metal and unstable, I have seen better at the YMCA. The greenery is overgrown and unkept, it could use some beautiful agapanthus, and a little bougainvillea to add some life to the place. The crowd was young and really thought this place was great, also be prepared for people to take selfies all around you. As for the bill, you can leave no less than 18%, and you will have a 6% surcharge to pay for employee health benefits.

Very nice atmosphere and ambience to go and relax with a friend or two. Extremely friendly staff. Good food. All comes a premium price, but youre in a Rooftop bar in SF. Adjust your expectations. Youre not supposed to come here every week. Save it for a special occasion and its a lovely place.

I was very impressed. The restaurant is beautiful! Food was great! And, the waitress was extremely nice. I had The Proper breakfast and a grapefruit mimosa. I reserved for 8:15 a.m. and sat out on the rooftop. The fire pit was great as it was a little chilly with me being there so early. It was so peaceful out there. I loved it.

Amazing view!Found this place when I stayed at the Proper hotel and liked it so much that I went everyday!What attracted me was the view - I had heard from a friend that I should check it out and it did not disappoint.The drinks were good as was the food. Everything I ate was scrumptious.I highly recommend as a place for drinks and a few nibbles.Note that they dont really have an extensive menu of entrées so if youre looking for a full dinner, this may not be the right place for you (but at least stop in and get a drink while taking in the view 😉)

I really love this place. It is so unique and feels like it belongs in New York or Los Angeles. Its funky, eclectic, modern with a clean but well-aged, vintage aesthetic. After a bit of a wait to get into the elevator in and up to the 9th-floor rooftop patio, We were greeted by the friendly Charmaine staff and escorted to a gorgeous table that could seat 6 people with a large firepit at its center. We were there for a birthday celebration for my girlfriend and our waiter Sasha, and the manager, Jesus, pulled all the stops to make her day special. Let our Bruch begin! We had the smoked polenta, proper breakfast (amazing), Mr. Jinx cocktail (recommend), and of course a mimosa and a champagne 🍾 toast to round out stay. During the day, the roof patio top was warm and not too windy. I saw they had blankets for people who were cold, which is a nice touch. Im looking forward to our next visit in a few weeks for our anniversary dinner, so I will be updating this review soon!

Great rooftop view. Chill atmosphere with fire pits. Cocktails are.pricey, but youre paying for the view.The skewers and charcuterie were good but I wish they had more extensive menu. Definitely a place to go for drinks with out of town guests.

My partner and I each had the Proper Breakfast for brunch, and let me tell you it was absolutely fantastic. My scrambled eggs were perfect. The potatoes, bacon, and chicken sausage were exactly what I needed and the toast was 💯. To drink I had both the Proper Cup and the Fifi the Flea... the Proper Cup was much better.Also, this hotel is lovely as is the rooftop. I’m a big fan of the Proper in Santa Monica and their restaurant so I was not let down with this experience in San Francisco.Last, I appreciate how diligent the hotel and restaurant staff were with social distancing and overall safety.I can’t wait to come back here for more meals.

I loved how careful they were at this time! Staff fully jet stylishly masked. Temp taken at door for all patrons, online menus and tables really well spaced throughout. Beautiful setting and great food. During this time you can only go with a reservation and minimum purchase. Fire pits and cushy chairs made me feel on top of this world! So enjoyable 💜

The best rooftop bar in SF! It has an amazing and incredible view of the city, they have indoors and outdoors tables with fire to keep you warm, it’s so charming and cozy!Amazing playlist (the DJ knows what he’s doing), great service, many options to drink. It’s kind of expensive but totally worth it.My tip: try to go early to watch the sunset, and if you’re planning to go on the weekend, beware because there might be a long waiting list.

Really beautiful rooftop bar in the hear of SF. The expensive prices are worth it. The staff is friendly. We had to wait at the standing section, but we got a table in about 30 minutes.Drinks were fantastic in taste and quality.I would absolutely recommend Charmaines to anyone traveling to SF.Also the bathroom was super clean.
