It was a beautiful place, The campsites that I saw were relatively small but there are parking lots so you dont have to have your car where youre camping is important to you, There are clean hot showers plus they have Kayak and Canoe rentals plus all the safety stuff you need, if youre not a fisherman but want to fish for a day they also have a loaner program where you can loan all the tackle, rods everything you need to show off that inner fishing person thats been just waiting to get out? Several trails are available for everyone to enjoy from short hikes that are 1.7km to 10km hikes that are for and There are trails for the more adventurous types. Theres also a dog beach that is small but dogs dont seem to mind, make sure you stop and see the snake display in the discovery area? they also explain whats living in that area and what you could run into Poison Ivy was abundantly available almost everywhere you look so if you are one of those people who get Poison ivy easy I would stay away from this place and if you dont catch it then its a fun place to go!! Enjoy guys!!

This is another great Ontario Provincial park with plenty to do and see for anyone who likes the outdoors. There are multiple hiking trails of various difficulty levels and distances from a sort accessible trail to a more difficult 10k loop trail. Plenty of water for canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding and lots of rentals available if you don’t have your own. Most of the campsites are nice and there are a few that have their own water access which is super helpful if you’re bringing a canoe or kayak. There’s a small discovery Center with a small park store selling souvenirs. We saw some cool wildlife with various warblers, turkeys, snakes and a few garbage panda raccoons. There’s a good dumping station with two lanes that seems able to handle a reasonable flow of trailers. This is s favourite park and we’ll be back!

Did some backwoods camping for a couple of nights. The lots were clean and right by the lake, so the scenery was gorgeous. Its also far enough away from artificial lights that you can see so many stars in the sky!

One of my favourite provincial parks. Sites are a good size, offer plenty of privacy and the toilet/shower blocks are clean and well-kept.The lake is crystal clear but the parking for the beach is limited and fills up quickly. The dog beach is primitive but easy to access and my dogs love swimming with me.I would love to go back for a week or two.Note for those who use the dump station: bring a nozzle adapter to use the hose to flush your black tank in your RV.

Lots of nice sites, a few beaches and great hiking trails. Beautiful scenery, super rocky and some cool little islands. Great to just hang out on your site, hike, paddle, swim and fish. My site got raided by raccoons both times Ive stayed there.

Great park for some outdoor activities!Site:We stayed on site 124 in the meadowlands section. The site was spacious and shaded with a little bit of sun. We had more than enough room for our kitchen tent as well as our tent trailer. Privacy was good compared to other sites. Fire pit was in a good spot. Proximity to water and the comfort station was a big advantage. There was poison ivy around the site, which I think is common for this park. It was a cause for concern having young children, but not a dealbreaker.Park amenities:Ice and wood are available at the main gate. Not much else is available at the park. In comparison to other provincial parks, which offer a park store with basic food options and some camping basics, sometimes even an ice cream counter. Granted, these are all luxuries, but are sometimes handy to have access to.Discovery center is interesting, yet small and underwhelming compared to presqu’ile provincial park. Many activities are available to children with weekly activities. We didn’t participate in any of these, therefore I will refrain from comments. There is a play structure for kids, which is accessible by foot from meadowlands and bayside campgrounds.Definitely a hiking, biking, paddling and bisecting destination. Kayaks and canoes are available for rent at reasonable prices (beginning at 18$/4hrs to 40$/ 24 hrs).We tried the sandstone island trail and it was fantastic. I wouldn’t recommend it with young children because there are some challenging stretches.Beaches:Campers beach is clean and picturesque, sand is a bit hard. Swimming area is spacious and well identified with a gradual slope which is great for kids. There are changing rooms at this beach, no outhouses are directly at the beach and weren’t the closest ones weren’t the cleanest.Overall impression:Definitely a great park to visit with many different activities to do. Having two children (3&2it met all of our needs. I would definitely return and make sure to take advantage of some paddling next time we visit.

Nice park! Has a nice Beach the Discovery center was kind of cool with the 6 ft long snake 🐍. Only thing I dont like is they dont have a park store I think its the only provincial Park Ive ever been to that didnt have a park store. The park officers dont harass you at least not on my experience, unlike some. 5 stars!

This Provincial park has everything you need. It has your clean comfort stations, electrical hook-ups, challenging trails, 2 beaches, amphitheatre, and a dog beach(big bonus). The three campgrounds are unique to satisfy your individual camping style. One is more in the woods, another situated along Charleston Lake, and the third kind of in between. We have been here several times and enjoyed our stay each time. We do love the dog beach, very few provincial parks have such. Its not far from Kingston and about 1.5 hours from west of Ottawa.

Lovely couple of beaches, with a small area near the second beach that is designated as dog friendly, multiple trails, including a long 10km loop trail. One trail includes unique rock formations that were briefly inhabited by people circa 500-900AD. Negative is lots of campers and the parking lots being almost always full. But the lake scenery is breathtaking. Beautiful park.

Went here in the early morning with family. It wasnt as packed until the afternoon so expect to not have too many spots in the picnic area, parking, and beach if you come too late. Its definitely a good place to kayak, paddle board, and canoe with family. You can definitely take pictures of the picturesque views, very pretty! You can bring your dog, but be sure to clean up after their mess as there are some bear proof garbage locations. The washrooms are absolutely disgusting and it doesnt help that even in daylight its still dark to see in there. Also to bring yourself toilet paper and hand sanitizer as theres no running water.

Awesome park, excellent hiking trails, many access points to boat launch. It was very pretty. Washrooms and showers were clean. Many bugs as is expected in a heavily wooded area around a lake but thankfully did not run into issues with ticks for myself or my dog.

Did some interior canoe camping here. If youre looking for an introduction to it its not a bad spot, but Im not a fan of the tent platforms and the lake isnt as quiet as youd see elsewhere. We could see the neighbours on their site from our site. Not bad for a quick night out, wouldnt be my first choice though.

Lovely park, mature forest full of different chirping sounds. 7 trails : Shoreline Trail and Sandstone Island, unusual rock formations and wonderful views, along an irregular shoreline which makes them interesting and really beautiful picnic area.Tallow Rock trail quite muddy at this time of year.Must give it another try!Boathouse Cove is a nice haven for a picnic at the end of the day. There was no one. So peacefully green and blue.Such a lovely quiet park in mid -June but teeming with wildlife. We saw fox, osprey, hawks and amazingly when kayaking around the islands, spotted 2 swans with cygnets!! In another section of the Lake Charleston area, close to the Park, several egg laying turtles. We also saw a big fat snake, I think a rat snake :)!!Most of all, awesome staff. Thanks very much to Tim, the Superintendent , for finding us when we were confused, unable to locate the trailhead ( we called park warden numand and also thanks to Alex, his colleague .Rental equipment clean and in very good condition, including life vests . Two pretty sandy beaches. Kid-friendly.We were not camping, but campers we spoke to very pleased.

Really Good Provincial Park. The washrooms are clean and maintained. The beach is clean. The lake is clean as well. We did kayaking and trekking. The treks are well maintained. We stayed for 2 nights and didnt face any problem. If you are planning to camp be cautious about raccoons and poison ivy. Follow the rules. The place was well maintained, cleaned regularly. The staff are kind and helpful.

Lovely beach with an island, kids were fascinated with the big sea shells. Nice clear water.Park was adorable with slides, swings, seesaw and two other rides (dont know the name), surrounded by beautiful trees, quite far from the beach though and a ton of mosquitoes. They had what my kids call a bucket washroom 🙊 dont know for sure what they are called but they were outdoor with no sinks.

This park is quite a surprise as it’s much larger than most provincial parks in Ontario that we’ve been to. We’ve camped here for three nights with our trailer. It was easy to setup tarps as the campsites have a lot of trees around. The size of the campsites are decent as well.A lot of trails (30 mins-2 hoursto go and some of them like sandstone are with very unique views. The lakes are beautiful. We have seen a lot of wild animals like a mink, deer, raccoon and even two SNAKES!! Staff told us there are many snakes in the park. Good for someone who loves snakes. It’s also easier to pay a visit to 1000 island national park when camping here as they are very close.

We went for a quick trip. We stayed at site 256 and it was right on the water. The bugs were not bad at all as long as you had some bug repellent. The beaches are beautiful, all sand and the lake has a sandy bottom for easy wading. They have a decent area for the dogs to go swimming. My dog absolutely loved the water and we mostly stayed at the dog swimming area as it was easier with our dog. The park is kept very clean and maintained. I was able to catch a beautiful sunset. Will definitely be returning for future camps!!

Nice park, beautiful drive getting there and loved how many trails there are. Unfortunately, I didnt stay long enough to try them but im sure they were beautiful. Our campsite was SO muddy which sort of put a damper on things. I mean it did rain but that was A LOT of mud! I wondered if they offer woodchips to some of the campsites that were struggling with the mud.

Charleston Lake Provincial Park is one of my favorites! Conveniently located approximately 40 minutes from Kingston, and only 15 from the small town of Landsdown. Its a large park with everything you look for in a camping get away. Beautiful hiking trails of all distances and difficulties, tons or waterfront activities and lovely campsites. Bathrooms were all well maintained and everyone I encountered working was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

Charleston Lake Provincial park is definitely a park that I will return to again in another year. It is beautiful. It reminds me of Grundy Lake Provincial park. It has many activities including swimming canoeing and hiking. The water is crystal clear and warm enough to swim in immediately. Our site was very close to the campground Beach and very accessible for canoe launching and early morning swims. There are 7 trails, one of which is a canoe and then hike trail. That is the trail I have yet to do on my next visit. The washrooms were very clean and the drop toilets were kept from any smells simply by the park maintenance staff asking us to keep the lid closed. I will return again next year.

The park has great beautiful trails. Beach is good. We came there daily, so have no idea about campsites. The biggest advantage is that its not overcrowded and we could always enter at any time, unlike other parks near high population density regions.

The Good:Beautiful and scenic park! Great beach for kids. Rent a canoe for 8 hours but make sure to show up at 7:30am to secure one. Tour the nearby islands by kayaking or canoeing, cliff diving from the islands. Wonderful wildlife to see, we met the famous 97 year-old turtle. Great hiking trails, fun little roads for biking. Fireflies, chipmunks 🐿 ... so cute! Very few mosquitoes unlike Muskoka area. The Bad: Invasive gypsy-moths constantly tickling you, and some black flies on the beach. Comfort station washrooms dirty even right after cleaning crew finished. The shop only sells firewood, ice, and icecream bars. Horrible internet and phone reception (in case you were planning on being available for work purposes). The Ugly: Major racoon invasion overnight!!! BEWARE. First night, racoons opened the zipper to our tent (while we were car camping), went in and made a huge mess because we had a little sealed package of crackers! They also tore up the table cloth and clean dishes we had left on the table. Second night, we brought anything that might have a food scent into the car with us. Racoon climbed on the roof of our car while we were sleeping at 4am and terrorized us. Everyone that camps here seems to know about the racoon problem but doesnt seem to include it in their reviews!?!All in all, great place to go with the family, but be prepared for the above 😉

I have been camping since I was a year old. Been camping with the kids for 25 years ( they are all adults nowand I have never stayed at Charleston Lake. But my first wont be my last. Beautiful spot. As a northern boy it reminds me of the mid north area, like French River area. So I will be back. Nice beach, nicewater! Swimming in June is a rarity, but it was lovely. And I have no clue where the people who state that it was over run by catapillers, but we counted 10(maybe). Anyway, hoot owls, fire flies. Great spot. Clean facilities. Attentive staff. Will be back soon!
