Chan Chan Site Museum - Museum in Salaverry, Peru
A lot to improve. Large model map is good to show the scale of the city but could do with some annotations. Has some exhibits but no real explanation of the citys history. I came before going to the ruins hoping itd give some information about what Im looking at but didnt help at all. But its cheap to enter.
Definitely worth seeing.
A fair collection of pre-Inca ceramics and curios. If you have an informative guide then its a good experience and gives you an idea of what to expect if you visit the one (smallerpalace on site. Be aware that "small" is in relative terms. Youll be stunned at how large it actually is.
Chan Chan museum is a very interesting place full of history, all the things inside are really protected but in spite of that, you can take photos and also there are special digital platforms to take photos of you as a memory and then share them onto your mobile. The attention there is excellent, everybody is so gentle and polite and make the visit pretty comfortable and unique. Highly recommended 😁
Great archeological site!
Great place10 soles ticket top visit multiple places
This is a good museum but it is quickly visited , you can find a miniature model of the chanchan site in a massive room
Not interesting compared to the Huaca museum. They put in a few broken vases and call it a museum.
Blink and youre through...The site itself is worth seeing
Super knowledgeable staff, a great way to learn more about the regional culture. Muy excelente
Good historic place really unknown.
Gosuuuu
Nice small museum that includes a good size model of Chan Chan as it would have looked hundreds of years ago.
Ok
Fun and free with purchase of chan chan ruin ticket.

Goes with Chan Chan archaeological site. Visit that first then museum. At present open Fri Sat and Sunday till 3pm
Amazing
Great small museum that complements the ruins. I would have like to have more explanations of the articles but overall a great experience. Lovely staff and amazing value
Great small museum that complements the chan chan ruins. Bathrooms are clean and accessible. Grounds are well kept with ample parking. The only complain would be that there was a lack of explanation for most of the pieces shown. Otherwise, we had a great time and alone with the Chan Chan ruins its a must do while you are in Trujillo area. I was able to learn so much because during the ruin visit we got a guide who was lovely and knowledgeable.
Very interesting and cool historical place
Interesting
The ruins of Chan Chan are definitely worth a visit! Located between Trujillo and Huanchaco it is a quick trip here. Starting with the museum where there are original pieces of pottery and other cultural pieces, then you can either walk or take a ride for around s/5 to the ruins of Chan Chan. I personally would recommend getting a tour guide as there is alot to learn from these 2000 year old ruins. However, its also nice having a wander round as these ruins are so spectacular.
A rather small museum you can stop by before going to the Chan Chan ruins and get some brief introduction. If you are coming by combi from Trujillo, you can get off in front of the museum. After finishing it, walk to the ruins.
One of Perús museums that sre right next to its respective ruin, it offers some. insight on what went on in chan chan back when it was populated, with some. of the daily use pottery which represented their lifestyle, customd and traditions, as the fishermen they were, as well as their beliefs and the gods they adored. Theres a video on the second floor explaining all of these facts way better than I do. I thought the hologram was a really nice touch, showing their deities and mummys
Very nice archaeological site
Ok
Genial
Good pieces of Chimu Culture. Ask for the video presentation.
small place, but nice
Very impressive, interesting. The ruins are teeming with history and a lot of work has gone into its preservation. A must visit if you travel to Trujillo.
Very impressive!
This museum is included in the ticket you paid for visit Chan Chan. It will take you around 20 minutes maximum to visit around there and it’s not necessary a guide.
So very interesting! Well done!
Small and rich in artifacts! Will recommend seeing it before the actual chan chan ruins. And take the bicycles from the museum to the ruins.
Very big ruins. Mostly all the same but impressive none the less.
Wonderful place filled with artefacts and remakes. Telling the story of the orginial peoples they belonged to. Its worth a visit as the pottery has so much detail because that is how they depicted their history and stories.
Take a guide for Usd 15 who can inform about this interesting city and culture
Very cool place to visit. The size of the site is very impressive and some of the art on the walls is cool
An awesome little place where you get to see some artifacts. I recommend going here before going to the ruin.
Interesting place to visit
Magnificent historical site. If you already made it to Trujillo then visiting Chan Chan is a must.
Located inside Chan Chan, on the left side of the road to Huanchaco. It exhibits diverse original objects found in Chan Chan among them: wooden idols, ceramic, metal objects, building supplies (sun dried mud bricks or adobes, ropes, beams). In others halls the prehispanic cultural development of the Department of La Libertad is described, from the first stone artifacts to the ceramic of the great civilizations Moche and Chimu. There are also display cases dedicated to agriculture, with the instruments, irrigation techniques and the produce cultivated in the Moche valley. There is variety of scale models that allow you to get a better idea about the form and use of the citadels and others areas of the city. Finally, there is a multimedia room where every half hour tourists can see the Chan Chan history recreated with slides, lights and sound effects which allow you to clearly understand the development of the city.
The museum is a 2 bit add on to the Chan Chan ruins which may be Interesting but all you see is most of one of 9 palaces of a 20km site - the guide also tended to resort to the archeologists say .
Nice place
I went here first to skip getting a guide at Chan Chan. I bought the guide here that explains the rooms at the site. The museum itself is short but fascinating and the 10 soles for entry includes entrance to Chan Chan, Huaca de Esmeralda and Huaca del Dragon also. If you plan on doing the visit yourself get dropped off at the museum first. I got dropped off in front on Chan Chan and had to walk 15 minutes to the museum.
