Its a very nice place to spend time with friends, all te staff is so good. The beer is delicious and price is ok. You can have lots of fun in the karaoke and also you can play billiard. The only one think I cant bear is the washrooms (not clean).

A good little pub! I had never been. Always thought it looked a bit sketch on the outside. But inside - loads of tvs, a great selection of local craft beers, pool tables... Just bring your own fun. 🙃

The band was great but they had to stop playing because it was Kareoke night.Other than that: staff was cool and the place has a laid back atmosphere.

I was genuinely shocked by how good their late night food is. Besides that, its the best and only place to go for karaoke in KW. Theres a reason others dont compete

Place doesn’t feel clean at all. I just like going here for karaoke randomly. Some of the security is good, there’s a few bad apples (one a female, ofcourse😑but other than that, when I did get hungry I would order something that shouldn’t disappoint like chicken fingers and fries. Nothing too dramatic.🙈The atmosphere here, students, drunk, sloppy, and annoying. I haven’t been for awhile (a yearso who knows.

Came with a bunch of friends after an Oktoberfest at Concordia. We were quiet, we barely had any drinks there. Security didnt let my friend in because he was "too intoxicated", probably because he was wearing a funny hat he won at Concordia. I politely asked how he determined that and he denied entrance to me because he "didnt like my attitude". In no way was I rude or showing bad attitude. Very disappointing customer experience, it took us 30 minutes to get here. Not coming again.

Went with a bunch of colleagues on a Thursday night for karaoke and had a lot of fun. We were a group of 20+ so it was good. If I went with a smaller group it may have been not as fun for me as it is a younger crowd. But the younger people were still nice and was fun watching everyone sing.

Very nice karaoke bar with a nice atmosphere. However if you want to take a chance and sing you may have to wait for a long time and its very loud but still a place to go and try!

First time there, but Im a regular in the Winnipeg Karaoke circuit. My partner Beth told me that this was the place to go in Kitchener-Waterloo for karaoke. I wasnt disappointed! This will become my new regular karaoke spot once I move to KW next year!

Been many times, just barely missed (literally through the doorwaya famous wrestler and personality from my youth (and a legend then- often the unexpected at chainsaw - the food is unexpectedly good - and cheap ... Ive never had a bad time even going alone as well. The patrons are always interesting and well mannered and there is a wide variety of themed nights catering to a vibrant, diverse draw. Is my cheap night out go-to especially if guests are unlikely due to last minute planning being sort of how I do things :). Keep being great chainsaw and staff!

Great dive bar. Fun atmosphere. Generally polite staff. Great for students and you will see locals here also. You can’t graduate from university in this town until you have sang karaoke at Chainer.

We went for Trivia night at Chainsaw- it was super fun and great atmosphere! We ordered some "Dirty Burgers" because the website AND their special board said they were $2 on Wednesdays! We thought it was the best deal ever! Got a pitcher of beers as well. After ordering and seeing the change we got back we realized we were charged $5 per burger...When I mentioned the special, the waitress told me that deal isnt on tonight...Really disappointing to feel tricked out of my money. We LOVED the burgers too.. would have spent a lot more money if we hadnt felt so manipulated. I hope they rectify this for future customers.

Decent prices, good entertainment. Gets pretty busy with students after 11 and smells pretty bad as there is carpet in this bar for whatever reason but otherwise not bad.

Chainsaw is a great place to go for some friends for a Friday night filled with some dance and some very affordable drinks. Only downside was the DJ who kept cutting songs short just when everyone was getting into it.

On a saturday night I waited 2 hours to sing and then didn’t get the chance to. The DJ and staff, on the other hand, sang 4 different songs in that two hour span. This is a bad place for karaoke.

Good place to go if youre already smashed and wont remember your experience.Last time I went I watched the bartender disregard my order completely and just serve me gingerale. If it was because she thought I was too intoxicated, I would have appreciated being charged for only a pop and not a mixed drink.

Amazing. Wonderful. Great hot dogs. Talent (Sometimes. Hosts always 10/10). BEER DELICIOUS AND CHEAP. Staff is lovely. They allow doggos on the patio. What more do you need?

Great bar for karaoke, live music or kicking back to play pool. It is really busy at night times, especially Tuesday. Staff is great. The beer and food is cheap too!

Amazing value for the quality of food you get especially on the Toonie Tuesdays. We were going to load up on drinks but I had be the designated driver. We ordered 4 orders of wings and 2 burgers. Came up to $12 + tax = $13.56 + tip. Well definitely be going back again if were in the area. Only drawback is the lack of salads but you dont normally go to a bar for healthy food options. :)

Great spot for some drinks, not to badly priced. Love the atmosphere here. One of the best spots for some karaoke!!!!!! If thats your thing. Its been around town for a long time and hope its here for a long time to come. Staff were on top of things thru out the night and best of all we had a blast.

Yes " we live here " thats there moto and I know why its very social. If you like karaoke and a cold Papst Blue Ribbon beer then join the party not to mention lots of fun.

Good side of this place : the food is nice and cheap. Bad side : the prices for beer and shots are really high and the staff is so stiff. Especially with the karaoke stage. There are too many rules! Its a pub near university were young people are supposed to have fun, not the army!

Reasonable prices for drinks. House beer is respectable for the price. Staff are friendly. Kind of divey but a fun time if you enjoy karaoke.

My absolute favorite bar. Great Food, Drink and Atmosphere. Great to go with a group of friends and the karaoke is the best! The staff is always friendly ( which frankly is rare for most uptown Waterloo bars and clubsand there are pool tables and games in the back! Definitely my friday night go-to

I didnt have a great expierence but only because of one person. The bartender is great and so is most of the security except for one. My wife and I came in once and ordered a pitcher of beer played some pool and left to go out and have dinner at our favourite restraunt down the street, later we returned in hopes of enjoying some of the live music and my wife very much wanted to try the food. we walk in first set of security guards super nice , guy at the door very nice. We walk in line up to order and ask for menu not even 10 seconds after lining up this one security guard comes up and says "I think you guys are done , I will walk you out" mind you her tone was not very nice. So my wife and I dont argue and we walk out making no issue at all and leave. I was really hoping for this place to be one of my favourite places to go on a saturday night but sadly if I am going to be thrown out for wanting to sit and talk and listen to music with my wife I will not be returning.

Go here if you wanna be kicked out for having a smoke on premises. Rudest customer service iv ever had. Didnt even get drunk and was ripped of for our drinks. Even had security spying on us in the bathroom. Like you wanna see my man piss good job. Hes hotter than all of you.

Fun times, relaxed atmosphere open and friendly. Everyone is totally welcome, and everyone from a drag show to a Ramones cover band. Drink specials cheap beer!

You either like karaoke or you dont. If you arrive late you dont stand a chance of getting up on stage on a busy night. Daily deals are great value for food, but not the bar for someone that wants to minimize cost on high quality beers.

Ive been to Chainsaw twice now. Two VERY different visits yet both especially fantastic. I highly recommend this place!1st visit was for last call on my bachelorette night. By the time we got to Chainsaw we were highly intoxicated and super obnoxious im sure! Staff was especially awesome to us and the crowd was real fun (Even at last call).2nd visit was this past week during the UW Drag Club performance. A friend and I shared some pickels which were great and we had such a fun time!!For a bar, the bathroom was very clean.

Great fun , lovely bar flies to talk to and delicious bar snacks. A must visit place to experience the pulse of Waterloo !!!! This is a must visit spot. And the patio is the best in the summer.

Simon is what makes Chainsaw, Chainsaw! He is one of the greatest karaoke DJs of all time with a hilarious sense of humour. All around a good bar. Karaoke is just a bonus. The bouncers can be especially annoying here, not assholish like at pub, just plain dumb.

Great bar, theres a pool table and foosball, you can also play ping pong sometimes. They organize tournaments and karaoke.I took out one star because the music is a bit loud so sometimes its hard to hear your friends and also, if youre going there for a busy night, youll have to pay the entrance ($3)

The beers are lousy and the crowd is typically super loud and smashed... but if youre into karaoke, its the best spot for that in Waterloo.

Always come here on a Tuesday whenever I can. Two dollars for everything. But, even on the weekend this is a great place for karaoke, however be prepared for the wait time to get longer as the night goes on. This place is a great place for a casual, low-key night out, as opposed to the loud, flashy clubs nearby.

I attended on a Wednesday late evening around 9 PM a few weeks ago, expecting it to be a relatively quiet night, but to my surprise it was packed. So much so that there was a line up outside that took nearly 30 minutes before gaining admission. Upon entry there are lineups for washrooms and hardly any place to sit. Normally, a nice place to relax with some friends when the establishment isnt over flowing with people.

One word, karaoke. This place is fun, the drinks can be cheap (go on Tuesdays). Oh and the burgers here are actually pretty decent, would recommend them if you get the munchies during the night.

Not the worst, not the best. Pool is awesome and karaoke is great. House beer tastes like equal parts PBR and sweat. Atmosphere is okay.

Chainsaw is a noisy, busy, messy bar full of young students who want to be noisy and fun. If you are one of them, you will enjoy the atmosphere (perhaps even try the karaoke)If you are not one of them, you may get in the way of others fun.The prices are fairly cheap. There is no waiter looking after you, you have to go the bar for your order (which means no tip :P). Very casual.

security was really bad, drinks arent allowed in bathrooms which is concerning because people can roofie drinks. Nice games room at the back, cheap drinka, average crowd. And there was a cover.

Depending on what you like Chainsaw can be a great stop in uptown Waterloo to hangout with friends and listen to widely varying ranges of competency karaeoke enthusiasts. Because of the university population its usually filled with students on any weekend nights and can get pretty packed.I wouldnt go there for the food but for some drinks with friends it can be a good stop on a tour of the uptown bars.

Fairly cheap drinks and food, with some typical bar type game tables (foosball and pool).Open karaoke can offer some fun until people get drunk and it becomes just a jukebox with people yelling the chorus.

This should be your last choice for bars in Waterloo.The dive bar theme is only matched by not so cheap drinks, and over aggressive bouncers.Avoid unless you have been kicked out of every bar in town.

Four stars for experience, but a -1 for the migraine inducing nightly karaoke. The beer, while served in big mason jars or pitchers, is not especially cheap considering this is truly a divey college bar, though the specials are good. The chainsaw beer is ok, though without any type of body or fullness. There are also pool tables and foosball tables. The karaoke is run every night and the trashed local college kids, while getting high grades for enthusiasm, lack something in the pitch area.

This is a dive bar, but its a pretty good one. The prices arent particularly low, but they have a variety of specials. They have karaoke nightly, and pool tables you can pay to play. Their Chainsaw beer is very light without a ton of punch, but its not bad for an in-house beer. The place is very large and seems to cater to a wide crowd, including local college kids and older generations. Its worth a look for a beer or three.
