Chafariz do Vinho - Enoteca - Wine bar in Lisbon, Portugal
Chafariz do Vinho - Enoteca in Lisbon
Description
The place changed management and now has swedish food even though for some reason they kept the old name. The food was OK but very small portions for the price and not so much variety.I think the owners forgot they are not in Sweden anymore! But the venue is great, so hopefully they adapt to the Lisbon culture and have success!
MoreGreat wine, great service and great tapas. Place with history and very charming.
Went here with friends on our last evening in Lisbon and I would say definitely best meal we had. The dessert was simply to die for and the waiter was absolutely amazing, both in recommending wine (to tasteand of course general service. Top ten meals of my life
MoreLove it! Everytime I go I learn something about the wonderful Portuguese wines.
This is a long-overdue, glowing review of the incredible Chafariz do Vinho, one of the very best restaurants and wine bars that we tried in Lisbon last year! The wines were, of course, exceptional and reasonably priced. The mussels were some of the best Ive ever had, and I grew up in New England! The interior, an old aqueduct and cistern, is intimate and awe-inspiring.Above all else though, I must mention the hospitable and warm staff, who took extra care to see that we enjoyed our time at their establishment. We tried to come back a second time in the few days we had in Lisbon. They were booked but promised to make a special arrangement for us the following night. Sure enough, they came through and helped us cap off an already excellent experience in of the most beautiful and most culinary-minded cities Ive ever been to. Cheers to everyone at Chafariz do Vinho!
MoreI came in there just to here that they are fully booked, though at that moment, there was not a single person to be seen. Strange for a "Enoteca" not to be able to give just a couple of glasses of wine to a visitor...
MoreAmazing wine from very knowledgeable people... While you sit inside of an old aqieduct with a view of the city... I mean... Its magic place alright!
MoreGreat wine tasting paired with an excellent board filled with sliced, cured ham and delicious cheeses. Knowledgeable and attentive Sommelier.
MoreAmazing place with the best collection of wine! You will be able to taste and choose the wine you liked the most. And it comes with delicious variety of food. Highly recommend!!
MoreWhat a great hidden gem. A fantastic experience sitting in an old aqueduct sipping superb wine. You should try this place.
MoreAttentive staff, incredible wine and lovely space. We also had the olive oil tasting with 3 different Portuguese olive oils and delicious marinated olives and bread
MoreCool high vaulted stone ceiling with a great cellar-style ambiance. great service who lets you taste multiple wines before buying and helps you pick! Def worth a visit for a nice glass and some charcuterie
MoreAfter 1,5 years in Lisbon, this was the place I enjoyed the most. The ambience in itself is well worth a visit. The wine is exclusively Portuguese, which for most people will be a whole new world. Dont worry however - the staff is extremely knowledgeable, and will help you out.The food is 10 out of 10. Get the prawns and bread for the sauce. You will never get this good a meal within the EU for this price.
MoreExcellent experience. We went after having had dinner so we only ordered port even though they have quite a wide selection of food as well. We very much enjoyed the explanation about different kinds of port. We tried four different kinds of port which were all very nice. Cannot recommend any more; it’s a great way to experience Portuguese culture! Do not be put off by the shadiness of the neighborhood (there is a lot of graffiti).
MoreWe had the most wonderful experience. Nuno brought us several bottles to taste before we chose. Most of the wines are served by the glass at the exact proportion of the bottle price. You can try different wines, paying no extra. The setting is amazing, an old aqueduct building. Cant recommend more enthusiastically.
MoreNice place of Lisboa History and.nice wines
Price was a little salty, but they offered us a great experience with their service. Also, cool space.
MoreDelicious wine, very knowledgeable staff, a great experience.
Love the mixed platter of cheese and prosciutto and salami from acorn-fed pigs. The two Douro reds wines suggested by the gentlemen there were stunning even though they are 18 years apart. The wines by the glass are slightly more expensive than other shops but one pays for the quality.
MoreExcellent wines, beautiful location, friendly and attentive staff, lovely food and great music / atmosphere. Nothing to complain. But wear a warm jacket and keep it as winter is coming ;-)
MoreInteresting venue.. poor service.. awful tapas... indifferent wines...drunk host... waste of a 100 euros !
MoreTop
Excellent food and great vine cellar, I friend from Spain recomended to me and in my trip to Portugal we decided to visit it, it is dificult to get there but is worth it.
MoreWonderful Treasure in Lisbon. We had great wine cheese and pata negra presunto. Will be returning there soon.
MoreWe stumbled across this place whilst looking for dinner. Its a wine bar set in an old aquaduct and we had a €38 set menu with matching wine. The food was actually delicious (cod, quinoa duck salad, mousseas was the wine, given we dint know anything about Portuguese wine. They need to ventilate it though as it was a bit stuffy.
MoreInteresting place. Its in an old tower, part of the ancient Lisbon aqueduct. Its very cool. We had a wine degustation with paring of small (in reality they were quite bigbites. Excellent wines and creative food. The combination worked very well. I would recommend the staff to open the windows in summer though. It was quite hot and humid inside ruining a bit the all experience.
MoreReally interesting building, cool in the literal and physical sense but the food and wine is very over priced for what you get-each dish shown cost between €6-8 each and one glass of wine cost us €7.75 -always check the price first before asking the waiter for a recommendation! The place is more style over substance and there are better value for money places in the street nearby.
MoreImagine a place in the backstage of an ancient fountain, a space inside thick stone walls and a single prominent exit, a tunnel that connects to the patriarchal water reserve where the wine is stored fresh and safe from the light, no add some of the best Portuguese wines for pleasing your palate.Amongst the wines I recommend is Soalheiro Primeiras Vinhas ir as a lesão expensive offer Allo, one of the most elegant and perhaps feminine wines I was offered to taste.
MoreLoved the wine, Delicious food, nothing too complicated.Just great Portuguese food and overall an enjoyment of the setting in this old aqua-duct.
MoreVery nice place to taste good Portuguese wine
Love this spot. Deep wine list and simple tapas food with soul.
More than 250 wines and possibility to taste 4 of them for only 10 euros. Place is very original and romantic. Its a wine bar more than a tapas bar...
MoreA really interesting place, built into one of the old aqueduct columns. Lively choice of good wines and attentive service. We had a flight of wines for EUR15, two white, two red, definitely recommended.
Morevery interesting location. wine by glass or bottle. food too.
We had a superb visit. Its an incredible building and the wine was wonderful.
Very unique wine restaurant. It is inside of the city old aqueduct. Great wine list and food.
MorePretentious but a cool setting. Smells a bit like, well, old aqueduct. Nice wine selection, weird service.
MoreEnglish speaking waiter. Octopus and ham salad quite good. White chocolate moose with passion fruit sauce..
MoreBeautiful ambiente, great service and wonderful food!
Was squeezed in by the friendly & helpful staff after walking up on a whim - despite there being a large booking taking up the upper floor. Had the tasting menu with wine pairings - tremendous quality and a unique venue
MoreA nice place to dine. Maybe some of the dishes is a bit too advanced for the chef. Since you can select a few dishes you decide the amount of money you wish to spend. A nice selection of Portuguese wines and ports.
MoreTry the wine tasting and you wont be disappointed. The staff is unbelievabley knowledgeable and friendly. The location is great and the building is spectacular inside. Also try one of their cheese boards.
MoreSuper sweet - awesome food - and great port pairings! N
Great food and great wine. The prices are a bit steep but do try the "tasting" menu
MoreGood food and service. Great for tapas style light bites
degustation menu was a little disappointing. individually the wine and the food is great but the combination of both was lost and most of the times the food overwhelmed the wine
MoreGood wine and nice service!
Not sure how anyone could give this place less than 5 stars. If you love wine and fin yourself in Lisbon, coming here is a must! Truly a once in a lifetime experience. The staff was great, the food was fantastic and the wine (go for the "best" wine tastingwas awesome! BUT, the location / ambiance is what really puts it over the top.
MoreGood food and wine, and great value and super friendly staff
The food was excellent, and with stunning wine pairings. The service was amazing, and the location is something in itself (it is in an old water tank). While certainly not cheap, it is not absurdly expensive, and I think I got more than what I paid for.
