Chaesik juiija - Vegan restaurant in Seongnam-si, South Korea
Was utterly disappointed by the staff. She charged me 30,000won for 2 person and insisted that I did not give her money. I felt gaslighted but paid her anyway because it’s my husband first time experience here. This was so different compared to the experience here pre-covid. Food wise, not much options as before but tasted ok. 7 pieces of tiny rice cake at 3 coins (supposedly 3000w).
A unique experience. Tasty food and fun process with the tokens and picking your choices. Highly recommended.
A small traditional market but price is not much affordable.
small mkt and has few good eateries but not much to see imo. also it is quite a walk from the subway station.
Its a traditional market, nothing special food we are was average and seemed a little over priced.
There are some stalls here that are not in most traditional markets in Seoul. Its worth the walk and explore some of those places.
Very good to experience the traditional market for lunch. You buy the coin and give them to the store owners for food.Kind of buffet for lunch but you can choose your own style.
On the small side. The food was average and a lot of items that should be hot are cold. The experience was nice
The traditional market is small and nice, the food is much affordable than the outside area.
Sadly due to COVID, quite a few stalls were not open and the selection was not as large as some of the other markets. They operate based on a coin token system, where you can get 10 coins for 10,000 won and pick food from the stalls with a particular sign to fill your lunch box. Great for sampling but sad that there wasnt as much variety as I had hoped
The 기름 떡볶이 or Oil-fried Ddeokbokki is delicious! It’s a cute little market that offers a special lunchbox program offered during lunch. Closes early (around 4:30so get there early in the day.
Well-known with the dosirak cafe..you can buy all the food by a special coins
This place is located near Gyeongbokgung Palace. It is not a big market in size. But you can see many kinds of Korean style street food. I recommend you try oil tteokbokki. It is the most famous food in this market. It would be easy to find a good store. Find a crowded place.
Many great food stalls, fruit stands, and other interesting booths. Not too big and not too small. A blend of traditional and contemporary cultures.
sadly we came 40 minutes before it closed so the ahjummas that were sold out rudely told us to go somewhere else.. The man at the hotdog stall was very nice!
Here is no parking but can seeking park on the road if u lucky. Price is cheap.Everything is follow of culture or traditional style like food and snack. Inside have many shop is famous like tv star come for enjoy and owner take a photo for show. :The people so kind 💕
자 떡 집 rice cake shop price is really high. Small pieces of rice cake cost 3,000₩, if they show the price is understandable. If no price on be aware. 부여 떡 방아간 is reasonable price the mugwort rice cake taste so good at the time I brought it’s still warm, the big square white tteok was good too a lot of black beans and pumpkin. This market have a lot of food shop that you can try. Their greasy & spicy tteok( rice cake is famous here but for me one time is enough
I love Korea,First time to travel I come from Thailand. Here food is good and You can eat many things,My meal heal me from Migraine
From 1100-1500, buy 10 coins for 5k won, then pick different items for a couple coins at any stand with the red cafe sign. Great way to taste many dishes and theyre all great! Vegetarian options are also available, as shown.
Old traditional market, quite small size but good place to take a break from Gyeongbukgong tour.
Rainy day 4:52 pm there is no vendors even open.
Really nice traditional market. You can find korean food in this. Change your korean money with coin at the second floor, and you can buy food with that coin. You can eat at the second floor (free water to drinkor near the seller. Try japchae, its delicious. You can walk to here from gyeoungbokgung palace or gyeongbokgung station exit 2.
Fun and yummy. Buy coins at the entrance and use a tray to sample all the street food. It wasnt too crowded on the weekend, and everyone spoke English.
Nice experience to taste a lot of local steeet food...
It was nice experience to have lunch there buy exchanging money for traditional token. There are variety of korean foods to try.
Very beautiful market, where you could enjoy all the traditional delicious Korean food here without costing your arms and legs. We spent 5000w to buy 10 coins, and my partner and I walked out with terribly full and hurting stomach haha. They gave us a bento tray to carry food, and after food shopping in the market, you can either eat the food wherever you are, or go back to the tourist centre and enjoy the food there, where they have a/c running, pretty good during summer time.Totally a must go place.
Pretty good concept, and a great way to try different dishes in a portion and price-friendly way. There’s a dining area on the second level you can head over to to have your bento!
Very fun interesting marketplace where you can buy small amount of diverse Korean food for a very reasonable price. Very good experience for non-local folks looking to get a snapshot of Korean food in a local marketplace.
Really cool market! Go earlier in the day, vendors start to close by around 6pm.
Very interesting i can se sooo many lunch box
Its a traditional Korean alley market well worth a visit!Everything here reminds me of street markets of old... vintage signs, food, and atmosphere.A bit disappointed with rude merchants here and there, but overall an exciting place to visit.
U can buy 5000 won worth of coin and then buy all the great dishes ,and its really make us full, try the oil ddoekboki and mayak kimbab plus japchae
Best place to have cheap, delicious and traditional food. Also for lunch time from 11 to 16pm you can buy a dosirak and fill it with the food in the market.
You can exchange old generation coins to pick up what do you like foods in your meal box!
Variety of Korean food and snacks here. I love this market! You got to explore this market if youre street food hunter.
It is very near to Gyeongbokgung palace. So if u have time just come here. May be better around lunch time. if too early morning some shop havent open yet.
Definitely a must come for tourist! Go exchange your 5000 won with antique coin located in front of the main entrance, then explore the foods. From tteokpokki to hotteok, every little bit is a must try! Be prepare for a food coma after eating all those delicious food haha. For moslem, remember to always ask if there is a meat in it “Kogi isseo yo?”
Cheap and good! For 5,000won it is not that bad. You can fill up your plate easily. Quite a lot of selection of Korean food! The spicy Tteok-bokki is so nice and dry haha.
One of the main reasons I came to Korea was for Tongin. The coins for food was an amazing experience! I walked up and down the isle a few times trying to pick things to get. I ended up finding some amazing food that Ive never had before. I highly recommend this to people visiting Korea!
The food here is cheap, good and tasty and thats why I finished them before even taking any pics of it.Most tourists here would pay 5000 won to the cashier next to the exit, then you will get 10 tokens like this, each represents 500 won, also, a plastic black meal tray will be given to you. Most of the shops have the sign of “通cafe”, which means you can purchase their food using the tokens, for those that do not put up the sign like such, you have to pay in cash.Would like to highly recommend the fried soy sauce rice cakes and stir-fried korean style vermicelli and the sweet traditional Korean Sikhye Barley Malt drink, which helps your digestion
A typical Korean traditional market that you can have different experience to taste the local food in the same street. Only 5000 won per person. People are friendly and easygoing.
Not worth going, it’s just a very very small local market & made famous by this tiny restaurant who linked up with a tempura shop in front of shop to buy foodstuff using these these copper coins & he’ll provide rice & soup for a price. Variety not great !
Super good market experience. Let me explain how It works:You change 5000 won for 10 coins, grab a tray and spend the 10 coins on all the street food stores you want. Then you go back to where you changed the coins to eat at a lunch room (with rice, soup and water if you need). Its a perfect korean market brunch!
I would recommend everyone to come here! You can get the lunchbox and 10 coins for 5,000 won at the West side entrance to the street. Look out for a sign on the shop fronts to tell which shop accepts the coins, which is about 80% of the shops. Most dish costs 2 coins and you can always pay with cash if you run out or if you only want one or two and didnt want to get 10 coins. Note that you can go to the eating area at the 2nd floor around at the middle of the street if youve got a lunchbox. You can get rice or soup/broth at the eating area for 2 coins each. I used up all 10 coins for 5 dishes and just had to get the hotteok so I paid with cash. Please do get the hotteok as you leave after your main lunchbox meal and eat along the way as you walk the alleys around the area.
Its different type of experience to buy food.😀. We were there early, so we spent some time walking to the bottom of Inwangsan mountain. After eating, we walked to tong-gui dong hanok village. Its worth the time.
The lunchbox deal at Tongin market is tasty and affordable. Highly recommended. It costs 5000 won to get a plastic lunch box tray and a string full of coins. Find the participating vendors and eat delicious banchan (side dishes).
It was very nice. They stop giving out coins trays at 4pm. We were late but still a great experience and tasty food. Many of the stalls have been featured on Korean TV.
Tourists will have fun time here to experience Korean traditional market. However, the place where we buy lunch and go eat is somewhat disappointing, mindless and not that clean.
Love the famous fried toekkpokki that appeared in many tv shows in Korea. The spicy version is awesome if you can take it.The old granny frying it will serve you quick and you get complimentary tea on the side as well. Fuss free and simple set up. Worth the walk here from the palace, and you get to explore the shops around too.
Partake in the lunch box with the many tourists that visits this place purely for. 10 coins which is not really enough for a good variety of food. Considering many places take 2 coins at a time. Food not the best and tolerable but otherwise interesting experience.
