Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala, Santa Cruz del Quiche
Elevated spot with a 1930s cross & sweeping views, including an unobstructed view of Volcan Agua.
A beautiful view point, in good weather you can see the Agua volcano. The hike is very easy and you can get to the hill within a dozen or so minutes.
It was under construction when we went 10/19/2022 but I can’t wait to see it finished!! Great little walk well signaled and felt very safe (like everything else in Antigua!)
Even though it was being repaired and updated it was still amazing. The stairs was a refreshing walk in nature.
Beautiful view of the city Antigua. Was under construction when we visited but the view was still there.
We went during the day in March and this was an enjoyable, easy climb up with rewarding views of the surrounding area. Regarding the safety of the area, I cannot speak for prior to sunrise and after sunset, but going in the day is safe. There is police presence and plenty of other people climbing it. I did hear from a local to watch out for pickpocketers, particularly children, but I did not personally see or hear of any event; just something to keep in mind.
its a great place to orientate yourself in the old town of Antigua and feel the surrounding area being connected. During July 2022 it was closed due to renovation. I only got a side peak. So by the time you are visiting may be they finished the work and then definitely worth visit. you can take a taxi up and then walk down to town again. Best to visit early morning with runners on the way. gets you into a real sportive local ambiance.
Easy little hike which offers you a great view over Antigua and a nice view of Volcan de Agua. If you want some privacy, go early in the morning :)
Very easy hike, nice view and vibe on the top. BUT, unfortunately they were sound construction and we could even get close to the cross within 100ft. A sign at the bottom to let us know would have been nice.
Great lookout point onto Antigua and Acatenango. Its a fairly easy 10 min walk up some stairs, no need for a taxi/tuktuk. At the moment theres work going on at the top so you cannot reach the actual cross on the hill. Youre about 75 meters away from it. Theres a range of little shops at the top for eating & drinking.
As of today july 9th 2022 the place is under construction, you will be able to see some but can not see the full view
Beautiful view of city and can see Fuego Volcano erupting in distance.
Well maintained trails, easy to access and visit.
Nice little hike for views over the city and of the volcano on a clear day.
Beautiful place to see volcanos and the city of Antigua. The path down to the cross is steep and not paved. People w accessibility issues will want to skip the descent or go very slowly down and up.
AMAZING view of the city. About 10 minutes of stairs to get up there, so bring your inhaler! Have been advised by locals not to climb after 4:30 PM due to safety concerns, so just be cautious and go in a group if possible. Besides, you’ll want friends around to take pictures of you! If you like dogs, there are usually strays on the way up - careful with your food and don’t pet them (disease risk).
Its an amazing place! Well maintained, and hopefully, the people that visit just leave with beautiful pictures and leave only footprints. No fees to enter, but if you would like, you may leave a tip. We didnt ask why the tip, but we assumed its to maintain it. They have some local vendor thay sell water up there. We were lucky enough to park near the entrance and walk up the hill or stairs. They do have parking all the way up top, so if you have a car, go all the way up so you dont have to pay Uber or other transportation. Once you park up top, youll have to walk down to it. A must-see with your own eyes to believe its beauty!
An easy way to view the city structures of Antigua. It is easy to visit while go for a walk and is well worth a visit one time.
Very close to the main city, its a ok place to be away and take some fresh air. Nice view to the city.Pretty touristy and not to much nature. However is a Clean & safe spot. It takes only 25min by walk from Selina Hostal/hotel.Enjoy!
One of the best views in Antigua Guatemala 🇬🇹 a must see if you come to Antigua have to stop here great place for pictures
Awesome viewpoint to view the city and volcanos! I recommend going at sunrise while it’s still peaceful & you get beautiful lighting. Quite a few stairs to get there so make sure you’re ready for that. IG @ericaisevolving for more travel tips and pics :)
Beautiful view of antigua and Volcan de Agua, especially on a clear day. Took us about 8 minutes to climb the stairs, which were in surprisingly good condition. Once there, we met some nice locals who were happy to chat and take pictures of us.All in all, its a must-visit for anyone in antigua, especially if youre looking for a chill 2 hour trip.
Great place to get beautiful views of the city and Volcán de Agua on a clear day. Its best to go in the morning for a clear view.A whole team of people can be seen early in the morning keeping the park clean and maintaining the landscaping. The perfect spot in Antigua to get some exercise in with a rewarding view at the end.
Fantastic place, the view and the different options to have a good time with family.
nice walk, not too strenuous with a great view. felt very safe at all times
A great place to enjoy Antigua and Agua volcano’s views. Just make sure you’re coming when there’s good weather!
Go and watch the sunrise at Cerro de La Cruz. You can see Antigua, surrounded by (eruptingvolcanoes, it’s amazing!
Worth the hike! They “close” at 6PM but we were there till about 7PM, assuming park rangers won’t be available for assistance after hours. It was a very dark walk back.
Around 30 mins walk from the town to the top. Easy way to walk up and nice view, worth to go up there.
Amazing view of the city Antigua and the Volcán de Agua! Everyone just has to visit this place to really take in the city.
It is a beautiful place to go and think about life i would recommend to you to arrive walking, you will enjoy it.
This place is hard to get I. Top but when you are on top km/h the view is amazing the nature is very nice and beautiful, you can take so many pics , they are cleaning the place and try to get the walking easy , I took a lot of pics . Can’t wait to go back.
Great spot to get a good view of the city and take cute pictures! Dont do what we did though: Take the same way back because the paths that look like a trail dont lead to the city. Youll end up in a persons backyard in the woods and its very awkward to ask them to go through their private property.
Nice view and different perspective of Antigua. I went there several times while exercising. At around 5.50 pm a guard will stand in the lower entrance and wont let you go in, so I recommend going there before.
Most of Antigua is very flat but this is a pretty good climb and the view is well worth it. Advice I received was dont climb after about 3 as there are sometimes criminal activities later in the afternoon. And the area closes at 6
Perfect place for getting an high point view of Guatemala and Volcan Fuego. Go here early in the day or late in the day if you want to take good pictures and avoid too much sun.
Excellent view of Antigua from there, definitely dont miss a visit there.
Lovely place with a nice view, just a few steps away from city center of Antigua. Entrance is free. :)
Simply the BEST viewpoint in Antigua. Stunning views of the city and Vulcan de aqua. You can also see volcano fuego from here as well. Make sure you come early in the morning to avoid clouds and see clear skies. Also come at night because the sunset here is amazing. You can grab some souvenirs and granizadas up here as well. The hike only takes 15 minutes but it is very vertical. Some people also drive up but I love the workout. Perfect place to run as well. Bring your camera for terrific photos!
Great views of the city and is a relatively easy walk/hike that you can take to get up here. You can even take a cab more than half way to see the cross and there are a few other statues in the area. Seems to be a local hangout space as well people come to walk their dogs as well as just enjoy the view. And its definitely one to be enjoyed from the site.
Super nice place, super nice to relax. There are a lot of places where you can get some good food.
Gorgeous, the craziest part was coming up through a village on the mountain that roads are extremely steep I cant believe how many cars can actually make it.
This is a very beautiful vista overlooking Antigua. Been here a few times over the last three years. Never gets old. We went there in a Tuk Tuk had no problems with parking . They charge 15 quetzal for parking very good price.
This is worth the stop when youre visiting Antigua. It has a beautiful view of the city. There are also quite a few vendors selling souvenirs and snacks. You can park near the cross if you only want a short walk, or you can walk up the pretty trail if youre in the mood for something more strenuous.
Great vantage point to take a photo from above the city. Two things to do here, take a picture and visit some of the souvenir stalls that ppl set up. Came here on our last day and actually found here to be the cheapest vendors for souvenirs, actually had a better selection than the old market place, the new market place, and the square. Would recommend doing your souvenir shopping here. Can take the stairs to get up to the cross or drive up to it
Beautiful view from atop a hill, which is worth climbing. It’s only a 10 minute climb or so, with a very clearly defined path/stairs, so you don’t need hiking shoes or anything like that. Recommend it on a clear day so you can see the volcanoes surrounding Antigua. Beautiful vista.
Great place to visit when in Antigua! Beautiful overlook! It wasnt too difficult to hike up, and it had a nice stairway. It was a cool free activity to do while walking around.
Wonderful view of Antigua and excellent photo opportunity. Pretty easy hike to the top and no cost of admission. Make sure you take the time to see this, it’s well worth the visit and to see the beautiful view.
Its a must-visit place in antigua, i love panorámica views and you will see these are great views... You Will see the volcano on the background, catching your sight the old houses, walls and gardens and rocky-roads... Bring sunglases and cap/hats, the SUN Will hit you hard! Enjoy And welcome!
Beautiful little town with many gift stores and bars/restaurants. Amazing old church and many art work and local gifts. Follow street to end of gift/souvenir stalls and path begins for climb to cross. We drove but you can walk to the mirrordore / viewing area.
Its great with a guide (the first time you can gain a history), for running for exercise, or to hike with friends for a picnic. I always meet new people here and the view never gets old. Always vendors to buy a drink, candy, or a headband. Weekend music, or Sunday youth worship, keep things lively. 333 steps up (and down). Guatemalans from 2 to 92 climb this... and you can, too.
