Excelente hotel conectado con la naturaleza

An excellent hostel tucked away in a quiet natural area full of birds and great wildlife. The protected rainforests of San Lorenzo are close by. The hostel is actually near Achiote, about 30-minute bus ride from Colon city. One finds toucans (of course), owls, hummingbirds, sloths, several types of monkeys, many species of birds, etc. Actually, birders tend to make a special trip here. One of the good trails is just 2-3 km away; to get there, take the local bus or walk or rent a bicycle from the hostel. The place is run by a conservation-minded NGO. It has a resident manager who is extremely helpful and goes out of her way to show you the sights. The dorms are well managed and clean. There is a small trail in the woods within the premises too. The village of Achiote is a five-minute walk away; it has a supermarket and a restaurant. To top it all, the people are super friendly. I went to stay for a few days but ended up staying two weeks! Just marvelous.
