Central Sandwich - Fast food restaurant in McKinleyville, United States
Showed up with my family to get sandwiches, walked up to the door to find out they closed early. The door, itself has a sign saying their hours,10:30-5:30 I showed up at 5:00 . Central sandwich is always my go to sandwich shop, it’s good quality for the price you pay. However I’m an unhappy customers this time. It was a bummer to have it closed early and have the employees standing in there hiding behind the counter.9•23•22
Sandwiches are great.
good sandwich I think, not sure yet
super nice. super yummy.
Delicious sandwiches. Just understand it’s going to be over $20 for two people. We love they are open at 10:30am! Everyone else that serves lunch is open at 11:30. Fresh ingredients. Fresh bread. Great staff.
Great place and friendly staff all these Karens need to calm down its priced for freshness, great service and convenience. Never had a problem in the 5 years of going here.
Big fresh sandwiches made to order! A bit pricey, but worth it to support a locally owned business and not a chain.
Ew how do you rate zero can you clean your store and actually hire people who look like they bathe and aren’t tweakers with juls I want my sandwich without diseases
I had the smoked stack sandwich and added onions and roast beef. All in the Dutch crunch roll. With Chipotle aioli sauce. Highly recommend it. This is not your typical Subway type. This is high end great taste awesomeness. Small Town great big flavor.
Awesome food. The workers are friendly and nice. I’ve never had a bad experience with them. I keep going back because of the service and how good the sandwiches are. Shoutout to the girl with the red hair, always pleasant and sweet whenever I come in to order.10/10
Omg I love this sammy shop! The girls can make a great sammy! And I would know. I managed a sub shop for most of my adult life. I liked how this girl made my sandwich. She seemed to care. Thank you to the girls working here. If you go TIP THEM WELL THEY DESERVE IT!
Good sandwiches. Friendly service and very clean
I never review any small business... i love this community but this is the 3rd time in two weeks i’ve had terrible service at Central Sandwich in McKinleyville. Some* of the staff are flat out rude and rush you. this was my tofu sandwich today. Burnt. and when i asked for a new one i got so much attitude and completely soaked my sandwich in aioli. Soggy and burnt. So disappointed. I loved this place. 😣 (and no she didn’t make me a new one)
Stopped by here to grab sandwiches for the MIL birthday get together with the 5 of us. Really good sandwiches. Friendly staff. Will go back next time were up that way.
First time there, the sandwich was amazing. Ill definitely go back.
Carefully prepared sandwiches with fresh local ingredients. Very satisfying! I also learned a new and better way to cut sn avocado by watching them!
Quality simple sandwiches. Your mind wont be blown but you wont be disappointed..
Always friendly service and they are pretty quick. The best is theyre sandwiches are tasty 😋
Great sandwich, best bread Ive found in Humboldt county. Most of the other places were all bread. Here it was a nice ratio.
My mom loves the variety of vegies that can go on sand. But a little pricy
My favorite sandwich spot, locally owned , fresh food with employees who practice proper food handling skills . I feel safe eating here Thank you
The sandwich was very good but not anything extraordinary. The cost for a basic sandwich is expensive and additional meats, cheeses and avocado are very overpriced, when I went there it was 3 dollars for additional meat and 1 dollar for cheese
Do you like sandwiches? I love a good sandwich. This place has great staff and ingredients. They know how to build a sandwich. They are quick and attentive. A perfect place for a lunch break or to prepare for a picnic.
This locally owned sandwich shop is hands-down the best lunch sandwich shop in Humboldt. Choosing between the turkey Smokestack with extra jalapeño, the Dinner sandwich, or the Cobbster, I never feel like I need to make any adjustments to their preset sandwich choices. You can always design your own too if that’s your thing. Just the way they slice the avocado and place it across the meats leaves no bite avocado-less! Make sure to start a frequent buyer club as it’s easy to fill a card and get your discount.
A really good sandwich shop. Great selection, quality produce and nice staff.
Just split a sandwich, the Ruebenesque, with my BF. After the first bite I immediately regretted it. Dont make the same mistake I did! DO NOT SHARE! Get your own! You will be glad you did. Great quality and friendly, fast service. I highly recommend.
I ordered the Rubenesque and I am so glad that I did! If I lived closer to town Id eat here all the time!
Great sandwich and worth the stop when traveling the 101. Locals favorite.
I thought - oh, its like Hole in the Wall but in McKinleyville. WRONG! It looked like they were closing up, but like for good. There were three or four employees there, but it looked like they havent sold a sandwich in months, and were shocked to see me. The sandwich was ok, but nothing I couldnt have easily made myself. Just go to Hole in the Wall for bigger and better sandwiches.
Great food! Not the cheapest place in town, but we get the punch card and that free sandwich every so often is a great treat. A family favorite is the smoke stack and the stonehenge!
Honestly, I dont understand how this place gets such good reviews. Ive eaten here twice (I had to give them a second chancebut I just cant bear to pay $10 for a sandwich I make FAR better at home for about $2.50!The fact that they handle cash between making sandwiches without washing their hands or using gloves is the final straw. I wont be eating here ever again. If I had noticed that little detail on my first visit, it would have been my last...The bread was the same Franz bread that I use at home (read: CHEAP), the roast beef was edible but sub-par, and the lettuce was shaved so hair-thin that it was actually mushy in texture.Has to be among the most overpriced and disappointing meals Ive ever had.Really, if youre thinking of getting a sandwich here, Id suggest trying Murphys up in Trinidad, youll pay about 1/3 less for a sandwich thats 3 times better.
Its a sandwich phenom, Earl of Sandwich would be proud. [google "vsauce sandwich" if that reference doesnt do justice.] Great atmosphere. Also im hungry...
Great local sandwich shop. What they dont have in variety they make up in quality.
I go here at least 2 days a week. They tase good but for the same price you can literally get twice as much sandwich for the same price at Hole in The Wall, down the street. A 6" sub costs around $11 at Central.
Great sandwich shop in McKinleyville California they have a variety to choose from they even have gluten free bread and some awesome specialty sandwiches highly recommend if you wanting a sandwich chips and a drink
the sandwiches here are so freaking good. im typically bored by sandwich shops, but this is the king of sandwiches
It’s nasty they don’t wear gloves...they take money then go back to making sandwiches without washing their hands. They should take the order put gloves on then take them off to take the money then wash their hands and repeat. Or have one person take the money and the others make the sandwiches. One girl wore gloves to make a sandwich then went and took my money with gloves on...so who knows how long she had been wearing those gloves. So NASTY! WEAR GLOVES!
Delicious! Fresh ingredients. We were helped right away. The place was really clean. I had the Cobbster on a spinach wrap and it was awesome. My one wrap was big enough for 2 meals. Great job guys!
I got the smokestack and it was very good, very large; easily two meals. Theyve got plenty of drink options. The ingredients tasted very quality and fresh. One of the few downsides is the price, it is definitely more expensive than subway for example however it tastes much better. Prices are comparable to Hole in the Wall but I would choose Central Sandwich over Hole in the Wall any day.
Super tasty sandwiches in the $10 range. Solid happy hour special from 2-5. If youre in a rush call ahead
Very pleasant workers, clean and pretty quick. The Dinner sandwich is VERY good!
I love their gluten free sandwich wrap and their sandwich options. Theyre very tasty and worth the price!
I literally just left there and I cant even believe the experience I just had. They are RIDICULOUSLY over priced first of all but I still continued to go there because their food is good. My fiancé and I were ordering and the lady at the counter ask my fiancé if he wanted a half or a whole. My fiancé is a quiet and reserved person but I can clearly hear him say that he wanted a whole but she continued to stand there for another minute and then threw her hands up as in if she is done with his behavior for whatever reason and said at him do you want a half or a whole. He said I would like a whole please. I then asked her to put a little lettuce on my sandwich very politely and she proceeded to pile about of mountain of lettuce and I asked her to take it off because I asked for a little lettuce and she then acted like I was requesting a huge in great thing. If she would have listened to me in the first place she wouldve known that I only wanted a little bit a lettuce. Then when we were paying at the counter I told my fiancé please do not to because that woman was incredibly rude with her behavior the gentleman at the counter overheard us and basically threw the receipt at my fiancé. They will not be getting my business EVER AGAIN!
They have good sandwiches and seems like a good local joint. I dislike the prices though and wish they were cheaper. I usually get "The Cobster" and theres just no way the sandwich itself is worth $11.
Good food and service, nice clean and cozy place
One of the best sandwiches Ive ever had. The shredded lettuce is so good.
Delicious sandwich for a good price. Get what you pay for, and fills you up when you need a quick bite. Definitely recommend.
A Great place to eat - great food and great staff. The "Dinner Sandwich", and the "Bacon and the Beast" are so amazing. Their chipotle sauce is awesome - they need to bottle and sell it! They are so much better than "Hole in the Wall."
Awful service. Have to agree with the other guy who said "The food feels like they are trying to be hole in the wall but not quite there. Their prices are just as expensive as hole in the wall for a lesser sandwich." I ended up getting a wrap because they were all out of both dutch crunch and sourdough (during lunchtime..?). It was the smallest wrap Ive ever seen for $7.50. Probably never going back, I dont think Hole in the wall ever disappointed me like C.S. :(
Really good selection of fresh ingredients & breads. Its a little more expensive than some other sandwich shops, but we got a lot of tasty food for the money.
