Compact paleontology museum offering exhibits of dinosaur fossils, artifacts & educational programs.
Worth to visit
Nice museum!
A little small but worth to low price
Enjoyable visit. Inconsistent English translations slightly detracted - some interesting exhibits lacked them but many did have them
You get the original stuff here in Mongolia only. A must visit.
Very thoughtful place, great exhibition and intersting facts about the countrys fauna and dinosaur findings. Its mostly written in Mongolian, so have your translator app at hand. They offer student discounts and elderly/disabled people and children free access.Loved the funny eyes on some of the animals haha.
Absolutely worth to see.The entrance fee is 9000 mnt but if you want to take photo you have to buy another ticket and it costs 10000 mnt. So i paid 19000 mnt for entrance and photography. There are hundreds of frozen wild animals and butterflies beside the dinosaurus skeletons and fossils.
Very interesting displays on Mongolian history and culture.
Nice place ! Kids love it, dinosaurs are amazing, two very big ! Nice place on two floors
A lack of English descriptions on many of the displays makes this museum lose marks. But otherwise a good place to learn about Mongolian history.
Interesting and surprising the dinosaurs skeletons that you can see in there, real fossils and a lot of information for learning
This museum contains two big dinosaurs’ fossils. If you’re interested in dinosaurs, it must be a hot spot to you. It takes about 45 minutes to look around. It’s worthwhile.
Actual fossils vs. copies. Small exhibit but very intetesting. Site of former Lenin museum.
Its very inexpensive to get in. The photo ticket does cost extra. I got a personal introduction from a docent. And, the fourth wing is now open.
Haven’t actually gone in. Apparently opens only from Thursday to Monday from Sept 15 to May 15. 😢
Small but interesting. Some pretty cool fossils
Small and interesting museum with some good explanation in English. It contains specimens returned from the USA in 2016. Useful before or after a Gobi trip.
Its a great museum specially for young kids. I visited the with other more than 40 people and service there was pretty good.
Though the appearance seems old, the exhibition was awesome and definitely surprised me, staff in the shop was also friendly and helpful. Worth a vist for sure!
Short and inexpensive visit. See everything in about 30 to 45 minutes. Interesting bones and fossils with quite a bit in English which is helpful.
Great displays, most have English as well as Mongolian. Be prepared to pay an extra fee if you want to take pictures of the displays. Wish they had a gift shop.
Well worth the price for introduction to fossils found in Mongolia. Although the exhibitions are limited, the museum is well organized and staff are friendly and accommodating. Student tickets are also priced at 1500 tugrik which is a steal for a museum in the city.
The museum is much smaller than you would expect. However there are enough pieces in here that will make it an enjoyable visit. To be able to see parts of these prehistoric creatures is quite the sight.
Pretty nice one, but the "khunnu mall" shopping center has bigger dinosaurs.
Finally a real home for the (returnedstolen dino fossils! The caretakers and curators are knowledgeable and proud.
Three rooms with dinosaur bones and info about them. Not very expensive, for student 1500 tugriks. In 30 minutes you are probably done.
Does not describe spices as well and also Its a small meuseum for Dianasors.you can find a better one at Hannu mall.
Can’t really say anything. I walked over there during the hours they had posted for being open. The door was open. I walked inside and was promptly told they were closed. I pointed to the hours on the door (which were within the hours I was thereand they just said sorry, closed. So perhaps call ahead first. The monastery is about a 10 minute walk up the road from here.
The museum is small compared to what you would think of as a museum. The entrance is closed so make sure u open it (though it has no sign). I stood a good 5 minute wondering if it was even a museum before braving to venture in.Inside is a different word. The dinosaurs are unique and well displayed. The fossils are well labeled and explained. The moderate collection is definitely worth a visit.
The museum is smaller than I would have expected. The cost was relatively cheap however, about $2 usd.
Not a big museum but interesting to visit.
A couple cool skeletons name most is translated into English but not very large only 3 rooms.
Small yet highly interesting museum with real dinosaurs!
A small museum but definitely worth a visit to see palaeontologic history!
Wonderful. Like it. Absolutely visit this museum.
This little museum is a hidden gem of Ulan Bator (for me at least!). If you are lucky enough to find the curator on site she will also give you a free detour in English in the prehistoric world of dinosaur and explaining what the job of the scientist is for the conservation and reconstruction of the bones and the skeletons . There also are a lot of dinosaur eggs. welcome to jurassic park!
It is a small museum but very interesting. We spend around 20 Minutes there.
Enjoyed the visit; staff are friendly and speak good English. Caveats are that it was quite a small museum and some daplays werent translated to English
Very small, only will take you about fifteen minutes inside. Some interesting displays but a overall a bit hokey. If youre in the area, it is quite cheap though and you might enjoy poking around.
The new exhibition room has been opened recently and another set of dinasaur skeleton fossil added. Good to see these high quality exhibits back to Mongolia from US. (Earlier illegally exported to US)
The museum is very nice, but very small. They have two new halls, (only one was open when i was thereand i think more is to come. The staff is very friendly, and if you are lucky they speak english
One of the better place to visit in Ulan Bator city . There is not a lot to see, but you can definitely spend at least 30mins here. They have 2 full set of dinosaur fossils
Smaller museum, but good displays. Needs better lighting.
Very small, only two rooms. A few good pieces, but mostly disappointing. Dont expect spending more than 20 minutes (and Im usually very long in museums).
This place couldnt be a bigger pile of dino dung. I was so excited to see this place and was so let down, there are a total of 5 piles of bone. Mostly either fake looking, or un covered from the hunk of soil they were buried in. Save your money and go to the national museum where they have hours of information on Mongolia with thousands of artifacts.
Hidden gem. A small but interesting collection of dinosours skeletons. Interesting history behind Mongolia getting that fossils back from American expeditions. There are plans to make the museum even bigger.
Very nice place, you can see dinosaur skeletons , fossils and also dinosaurs eggs, however it is quite small.
The smallest muzeum I have ever been to, nonetheless probably the best dinosaurs one. Spent like 30 min there
Very small but if you need to kill 30 mins and want to learn something about dinosaur bones, this place has you covered. The displays have English and are well done. It is just very small so be prepared.
Cool museum, albeit small. The guy at the front first said 2000 tögrög (even the ticket says 2000but refused to let me in unless I paid 3000. I paid the extra 1000 tögrög finally just to get the guy to quit hassling me.
