Central Market - Market in Tarabuco, Bolivia
Cool market. Overall it is cheaper and cleaner than the ones I visited in La Paz. You can find typical dishes and fruit for very good prices.
Authentic good for a good price, women in the stalls are very nice.
If you’re travelling and want cheap local food this is the place to go, is quality👍
Traditional market with a lot going on, friendly and interesting place not only for shopping but also to immerse in the local culture and life.
Great place to shop
A good example of a Bolivan market, with a few food court sections, meat vendors, fruit vendors, veggie vendors, and spice vendors.A good place to try local Bolivian dishes!
Good place to do some local shopping. They have all kinds of shops from fruits to clothes. I recommend going here in the evening as it gets more busy and more fun to watch.
Good to have a glimps of the local life
A very good fruit salad
3 floors of a true bolivian market place. Worth a walk to buy some fresh fruit or cheese. The top floor has Bolivian meals that are cooled without much attention to western hygiene and I think all of the menus are identical. Definitely worth a visit to explore, eat if youre feeling brave and your stomach has adjusted to the food
Very popular. Not a tourist thing. The fruit juices and salads are great and cheap
Typical south american market with meat, vegetables etc. On the little square they sell fruit juices for 6-8bs with milk / water or 15bs natural ones with just juice (either pineapple or apple with the fruit you choose). Upstairs there are several places to eat. They all have the same selection pretty much and its ready, so pretty fast to get served.
Yes, you can find almost everything for your cooking needs
The place is small but you can find all necessary for cook or eat. Prices are cheaper than supermarkets in the city
Cash only. 2nd fl. This is where the locals dine in either breakfast, lunch, dinner. Portions are huge, 2 people can easily share a plate. Prices are a fraction of what you’d pay outside of mercado. You can find anything and everything.
The best place for visit in the city, traditional food, fresh local fruits and herbs, breads and local desserts. Is a very local experiene.
Local food on the upstairs is my favorite. Soup with main only 12bs and was big and delicious
Like most places in Bolivia - be aware of pickpocketers. Otherwise - the vendors expect you to barter and enjoy the back and forth.
Everything you need to survive in one place, nicely organized, with multiple offerings. A real example of the best capitalism has to offer. I wish the USA had something like it.
If you would like to try national food and to be in local atmosphere, you definitely should visit for lunch central market 👌
Plenty of fresh products including cheese, fruits, veggies. There are some stalls where you can try local cuisine. Worth having a stroll and getting your groceries here (so cheap!).
A nice market in the center the town. Has a wide variety of local fast-food, regular food, juices, fruits and meats. Also offering school supplies, cleaning equipment and candies. Basically everything but clothing! A good place to try different foods and fruits.
Great place to buy local stuff from food to cleaning supplies, flowers and toys. Heaps of places for cheap hot meals.
Best place to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at just two blocks from the central square! Around it there are many shops where you can find almost everything. The exchange money shops are around too.
Rating is a fragile thing. At this market the local come and they love it. That it doesn’t live up to my standards as a spoiled European shouldn’t effect the rating. I had local food and I loved it. People were happy and helpsome.
What a beautiful, lively market place. You can find anything from good fresh fruits, vegetables, bread, cakes, cookies, meat, eggs and cheese to clothes and hygiene and house cleaning products. Prices are good, but make sure to query around a few stalls to get the best deal. There is not a lot of margin to bargain, but asking with a smile never hurts. Also on the third floor there are local restaurants, mostly with the same offers and prices on the menu. Notice that each has the name of the female cook! Please do try “sopa de maní” (peanut soup), BOB5 and mondongo (a local dish with corn, pork meat and potatoes), BOB15. There is also the menu for BOB12, including soup and a main dish. It gets really busy until 1pm. Slows down its pace between 1 and 5pm and gets the hassle again by the end of the afternoon. Around 6pm there is bread coming from a nearby village, for which locals line up.
Good and cheap food. Also at night in the comedor nocturno. Definitely worth a visit, also as an alternative to the overpriced tourist restaurants
Great place to buy fresh products at the right price with plenty of choices. The surrounding streets are a must to see and purchase numerous products
This market is a must visit in Sucre. Go and have a fresh juice, buy incredible food and have the cheapest lunch on the second floor.
One of my favorite places in Bolivia!! You can find the freshest, most beautiful fruits, vegetables, meats, and almost anything else your mind can imagine!!! It is better organized than Mercado Campesino. Definitely worth taking a stroll around, and if you are here for a longer time the best place to buy everything you need for cooking!! And dont forget they have amazing offerings for lunch on the third floor!!
The place may be dirty but you can find everything you need here. They even serve healthy lunches at a very cheap price so its good.
Its a good place to know about reality and culture of sucre, is not clean as Wallmart, but is kinda healthy. If you dont visit Central market you werent in the city of sucre.
Grab some delicious mango or avocado, and then head up to the top floor for cheap food, about 15 bob per serving. Looks dirty for europeans, but we ate there twice without any issues whatsoever.
If you are looking for local and cheap food, thats definitely the place to go!! moreover there is everything you need, from clothes to technology, to meat, vegetables and fruit! There are 2 different food yard, a bigger one open for lunch time and a small one for dinner.
I love the markets in Bolivia. This one is very manageable when the markets can sometimes be overwhelming. Everyone was always patient with me & poor Spanish. Could get everything I needed here.
This is the heart of Sucre, it cant be missed. You will find everything here from fruit and meat to personal care products to juices and food. A must see
Its a classic south american big market with fresh fruit, veg, meat, eggs and all the other goodies you need. Not the cleanest I have been to in South America...
Heres the lowdown on the mercado central;Breakfast; get some bread from the inside area by the fruit stands ask for "caspitas", get some fresh and delicious cream "nata" it comes in a little cup for 7bs. from the fresh milk area, next to the cheese vendors.Lunch; chorizo chuquisaqueno sandwich - at the "7 lunares" spot inside the market, or head cheese sandwich - dont freak! take the sample it is awesome!Late night, try tojori con leche and bunuelos.
One of the most important markets in Chuquisaca where you can find almost anything to eat in large amounts and cheap prices. The bad thing however is the lack of hygiene and terrible state of the toilets.
Bolivian local market. Meat, veggies, fruit & lots of stuffs inside at inexpensive price.
Great source for local produce and natural juices
This is an interesting cultural experience of youve never seen a market in a developing country before. You can buy lots of fresh veggies and fruits. The best part is the route of stalls selling fruit juices for 5 bolivianos.
Very big and colorful market. A lot of different types of food. Many areas available to order and eat on site.
Great selection of fresh fruit and veg. Perfect for cooking a veggie meal when youre in Sucre. Be careful to negotiate prices. Dont accept the first price - you may be paying a gringo tax.
One of my favourite markets in South America. They have food day and night (try Api and a pastry for breakfast). The fruit juices are great and the fruit salads are insane
We went there a lot.. 3 weeks long. Typical Bolivian Market. Good prices. Also to eat. Nice. But typical and with that I mean also qua hygiene :-(. Not high standard of hygiene..!
Super cheap food and juices, all freshly made and in front of you, so you can see what you can take and what you shouldnt take. Nice place to visit when in Sucre!
Big market with lots of options. From any body part of a chicken to tons of fruits and vegetables to random housewares. Filled with locals, great experience.
Definitely one of the nicer major city Central Markets in Bolivia. Prices are only slightly higher than those in Mercado Campesino. It is, of course, an outdoor market in a developing country. With that in mind, hanging slabs of beef and pork and whole chicken carcasses out in the open wont seem out of the ordinary. And after a while youll stop noticing all the dogs wandering around. The vendors are friendly, although some seem to be jaded to the presence of foreigners.
El Mercado Central is the best place to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. It is also the recommended place to have tasty authentic Bolivian food. E. G.: Sopa de Mais for 5 Bolivianos or several local lunches for 10 to 18 Bolivianos. For dessert I would recommend fresh made fruit salad for 8 to 12 Bolivianos.
