Centenary Park - Park and Garden in Plumtree, Zimbabwe
Great and wonderful indeed.
Relaxing and fresh air galore.
All facilities are in a state of dilapidation
Cool breeze under the trees
The place used to look very good than it is now
Lots of entertainment for children
Fun n peaceful place to go
This used to be a great place. Not so much now. The potential for recovery is there.
The place has been neglected for a while now. Its former glory days need to be brought back
Nice place to chill and unwind at zero cost!
Its a nice place and u can relaxing with u girls
Need a caretaker looks like a ghost place
Beautiful place great scenery
Woooow the place is so great 🌹👌
The playground needs urgent attention as some of the slides and swings are unsafe for children to use but nevertheless, my daughter Tanya enjoyed playing there and we had a good time time in the picturesque park.
Good space for events
Lovely deep green lawns , picnic suitable
Nice place needs some bit of maintenance
Fair place to be at it has lost its touch though
Visit the Museum, very interesting. Mind the snakes!
In need of sprucing up to make it more user friendly.
Looking abit better but very dark and dangerous to the public in need of morw lighying and security
Beautiful but not maintained well
Maybe it was a mistake going back down memory lane, because although its nice by the fountain the rest of the park has sadly been neglected with so much rubbish everywhere.
So sad the park is so neglected with rubbish everywhere, glass plastic food containers etc as far as the eye can see.The only area worth looking at is the fountain no further than that its too sad.
Have been doing a lot of evangelism and people have been hearing the message of Christ.
Best place to be....u could go there for photo shoots especially by the fountain u ll definitely love it
It used to be okay, but now its a den of thieves. You can get robbed if you are not carefull
The place has now dilapidated! Serious work from the council needs to be done. The benches are no longer functional, the grass is just too long 👎🏽 no longer beautiful especially the side where the theatres are and the area behind the museum.
It used to be the best place in Byo in terms of outdoor environment.I still give it a 3 star because I still believe in it and believe the local authority will do something about it
t was once the epicentre of entertainment and relaxation in Bulawayo with scenic views and lush lawns for people to unwind during their spare time. There was a miniature train that would move on scaled down rail tracks taking passengers around the park so that they could view the park. This is the Centenary Park in Bulawayo, a place that was once the epitome of picturesque and pride of the city. To show that it was a viable leisure spot, there is a tuck shop there (or what looks like onewhere various snacks would be sold to the general public.
The place is quiet, jus moderate in terms of security, not up to standard in terms of cleanliness, no food outlets, not being maintained well, a museum within the park with live snakes displayed in that museum, not enough seats to seat. Broken branches not fixed, walkable distance from CBD. In conclusion, it is not being maintained up to standard these days but a good place to spend time if everything was to be put in order.
Has to be kept clean and the gardens watered. Placing bins strategically will go a long way in controlling garbage
It was once a glorious place for picnics, studying, dates and all with its well kept vegetation and plants and the general infrastructure. Now its not even as safe as it once was and hasnt got much to offer as far as activities are concerned. It needs to be revamped and restored to its former glory and even beyond it.
Used to be a very nice beautiful public park, unfortunately its no longer maintained to satisfactory condition
BCC must renovate that park.....put pavements on those dust roads... And add some things that can entertain kids... A lot need to be done on that park
Still has the potential to be beautiful. As it stands, its cleanish but so very unkempt and overgrown. and a robbers paradise
A place to relieve yourself 🙂
Our park is lovely, its a good place to relax whether alone or with company, however, security is needed to maintain order and ensure socially acceptable behaviors are exhibited in the park. I have come across teenagers a couple of times in very compromising positions and that was very disturbing for me as the park is a public place for everyone to relax and unwind. I would suggest that if anyone wants to go to the park, they limit themselves to extremely public places so they are not offended by these naughty teenagers that are misusing the park.
The Byo Centenary Park is in a despicable state. The lawns that were always there since we were children have dried up, the famous fountain works intermittently and the sprays are abnormal. There is no more park except that it is real estate that was designated so
My favourite place ever
This is my favorite place to chill. Spacious park with beautiful flowers. Whay happened to the train though? Is it beyond repair? Is there something that a diesel plant fitter from the neighbouring Bulawayo Polytechnic can do to put it back on the tracks and gain the park some revenue, to pay its industrious workers whore trying their best to maintain the place?
Once the pride of our childhood. Very little maintenance. Ponds have mosquitoes, grass over grown, children play area covered in glass, swings and slides need maintenance.
A very refreshing place on a weekend on hot day, children had a good time playing, bird watching and listening to them sing all afternoon. Cant wait to go back once Christmas decorations have been done.
Nothing to see here anymore unless you are among those who got to see it and enjoy it when it was still the pride and joy of Bulawayo. All the infrastructure is still there and in fairly good condition.. needing a paint job obviously but that gardens and vegetation are pretty much dead. This needs to be taken over by a private entity that will know how to monetize and revive the fortunes of this place.
A lovely public place to have an outing. People often go for picnics with family. Others like to take wedding photos there. The water fountain is a lovely feature at the park that adds a beautiful picture. Around Christmas time they put up Christmas lights and there is a nativity scene that people love to visit. Generally, a great place to go and relax.
Fix the water fountain and utilise it to attract the community.Though city council is trying their best to maintain the lawns and plant flowers the park is not well maintained. Lacks innovativeness from the responsible authorities
I grew up in Bulawayo so the centenary park will always hold a special place in my (childhoodheart. Although it is quite run down I still enjoyed walking through the park and seeing the old putt putt/mini golf and train. The fountain area has some really well kept grass which makes for a great picnic spot.
Beautiful space though has down maintainance wise but still a great space to connect with nature read a book in and the Bulawayo Theatre and Amphitheater are close by, also the National History Museum is close by and if you are booked at the caravan park its a great place to check out, very tall trees, Birds, ducks and other colorful reptiles objects the small rocks and trees.Avoid this place from dusk till dawn because of the shades thieves love this place
Lovely experience at the switching on of Christmas lights
