Centenario Park - Park and Garden in Cartagena, Colombia
The Monkey are the only ones not try to sell you anything. Needs more monkey business.
A great place to catch a pick up game of basketball or soccer with the locals. There are also sloths and monkeys swinging in the trees.
Cool place to walk around. Lots of iguanas running around. They dont attack you (so i was toldunless you chase them.I was also told that there were monkeys and sloths in the trees at this park. But i did not spot them. Only iguanas. There are a lot of small spots to one side of this park that makes it easy to just grab a quick bite or do some shopping while there.Prepare to use mosquito repellent in the mornings and late evenings
Nice park to relax
Small unremarkable park next to clock tower. I saw a squirrel there. Not much to talk about but some refreshing part of very busy area
OK park. - 2022/08/18
Great park to cool off. Plus you’ll see monkeys, sloths and iguanas!
It’s full of sloths! We saw this one, it was so cute.
Not the great a park in of itself, but bring able to watch tamarins and iguanas just roam about a public place and try to spot the sloths is quite wonderful.
What a wonderful place in the middle of the town, with free animals all around you. I want to thanks that gentle ice cream’s guy who was so kind to show us the animals and explain to us everything about them.
This park was created in 1911 in commemoration of the declaration of independence of Cartagena de las Indias. The Indian village was located in this park, but was destroyed upon the Spanish arrival. The park is currently inhabited by a variety of animal species including: Iguanas, pigeons, monkeys, wild birds like Mary Mulatas, sloths, and squirrels, among others. You can also find storytellers, street vendors, bookmakers or elderly retirees who come to spend some time under the shade of the trees.
Beautiful! Look for the sloths and monkeys!!!
It was hard to see the sloths/monkeys people talked about. Might’ve just been bad luck. But there’s lots of vendors around here too for souvenirs or street food! Worth checking out, in case you luck out with spotting the animals.
Beautiful park in the middle of Cartagena city with wild monkeys and parrots. Take a picnic and sit near the trees.....lovely .
Awesome to look for the animals in it. You will find sloths, iguanas, turtles, squirrels, and so many birds.
Sloths and cotton top tamarinds in the park
Sloths 🦥 are here and super close and really friendly.A nice park with multiple entrances, lots of trees so plenty of shade if you wish to sit and relax. Good for people watching an animal spotting.People pay a lot of money to see a sloth and you can get one for free here. There are reports of monkeys loose too.Appears quite safe in the daytime not sure about the night time. Be safe.
A very nice, well-maintained urban parque located between the walled city and Getsemani. The main attraction for me was the tiny tamarin monkeys and sloths - there are eight of them currently but they practically impossible to spot. A friendly local who either works or hangs out in the showed a few of them today, all spread out on different trees. There was a mother with a baby and a couple more that I saw. Made my day!
Relaxing, if you can find a chair in the shade. Sloths, monkeys and iguanas can be seen.
We saw seven cute little monkeys 🐒 in a tree, four sloths 🦥 and 4 very large lizards 🦎 eating flowers.
Snall park full of cute animals (sloths, monkeys, iguanas,...)
Nice park. Needs maintenance. I didnt see any lizards 🦎 or animals What happened to them. 😠 😡 😥
A Central park that you can be appreciate nature feed chipmunks, listen to multiple types of animals sounds feel the breeze and have restful moments away from the heat of the sun.
This place has sloths and monkeys!!!! And birds. And people playing basketball… and people rollerblading, not sure why, but they are! It also has a bathroom that’s about as nice as your local garbage can, but it’s a bathroom!
Great park where you can see all animals there
One of my highlights in Cartagena. Just relaxing and watching free living animals like sloths iguanas
Gets three stars for the history and the fountains. Aside from corvids and pigeons, I didnt see any other wildlife as some have mentioned.
Very nice park to sit with a lunch and watch locals pass by.
Nice little park near the port, great spot to take a break in the shade... And while you are there, check out the sloths, monkeys and huge iguanas hanging out in the trees and bushes!
Has lights right now. But this time of the year its very crowded. You have almost unlimited thinks to do there
No exotic birds, sloths or monkeys like other reviews mentioned. Just iguanas & crows, but still a nice park!
Tiny monkeys, sloths, and iguanas. 5/5 would recommend.
Very nice park. Conveniently located in the heart of Centro, adjacent to Torre. Relatively clean, sparsely populated. Biodiversity is reasonable...safe, pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle.
A cozy park right in the Historical Center of Cartagena where you can relax, enjoy the shade, dance, skate, and even buy a good book.
This could be better, and local people should take advantage of this place as an economic resource. I did not feel safety enough when I was there.
Be careful here, police setups are common. Locals can often harass you. It is a pretty park, but be wary of locals and police alike here. Mind your own business and youll be fine.
This park is a must visit. Iguanas, monkeys and best of all sloths!
I was disappointed I couldnt walk any of the grounds,,because of construction. Maybe in the future do it by sections so the nature lovers could have a place to see wild life..by the way your other park "Marglar"was close too.
This place has iguanas, little monkeys and birds. Its such a treat in the middle of the city.
Green Paradise ! The most beautiful women in the Universe give you an inviting smile ! You feel like in Paradise ! You act like in Paradise ! ... One thing though ! ... No public wifi connexxxion in this Paradise ... The historical Downtown City is at only 200 meters away ! ... In the night, the gates of this park are closed ... safety in daytime is a guarantee !
Nice place to check out, saw a sloth mama and her baby!
The park itself is not very good looking. Its brown and dry. There are iguanas, monkeys, and sloths in the park tho. We saw 3 out of the 4 sloths that lives there. There are guides that work in the park that will show you the sloths, as they are almost impossible to spot.
An amazing park, though the place is really shabby and needs a little renovation. Atmospheric place. Lovely street sculptures. Monkeys hiding in the trees. Squirrels jumping in front of you. The park is surrounded by historic places like the Walled Town, the seaport, and the church at the border of the colorful Getsemani neighborhood.
Park was a lot of fun. Very small and free to walk around. There is a few sloths there you can see up close. When we were there some one saw that we were looking for the animals in the trees so he came over to help us find the animals. Of course he asked for a tip when once he helped us find them.
Centenario park is a very cute place to go for an afternoon walk with a surprising range of attractions. There are numerous stands selling books on one side of the park, and if you go during the day you can find sloths and little monkeys dangling from the trees. If youre lucky you might spot an iguana or two. The park also has a skateboard park and rollerblading track so its a perfect place to people watch.
This park is beautiful, filled with different creatures like sloths, monkeys and vultures! There is also an outdoor library on one side and a souvenir market on the other side.
Great place to walk with taste of nature and urban life , we have seen a bunch of wildlife at very easy pace , monkeys , baby sloth and adult ones, squirrel and many parakeets ! There use to be there a local guide who helps to find the animals , tip him as usual !
A busy place but somewhere to escape the heat of Cartagena. Lots of wildlife around which some of the locals are keen to point out (for a small tip), sloths. Tamarins, Iguanas and birds.
Old park next to the old center of town and convention centerNot clean or well keptHas iguanas, birds and ,(not seen by memonkeys and sloths.Better early in the AM or late evening ( like anything else heregets very hot during the day
As you walk through, if you see other people looking up in the trees, stop and take a look! We saw a sloth, a giant iguana, red squirrels, and little monkeys in our walk through the park. Its a pleasant way to get between the walled city and the Gethsemani neighborhood.
