Cella di Padre Pio - Place of worship in Foggia, Italy
Great experience, amazing scenery!
Simply amazing
Ok
Amazing holy and beautiful
I visited Italy in May of 2004 on a Roman Catholic pilgrimage. This was one of many stops. And was well worth it. I have no photos though.
Lovely calm and peaceful
Magical place, recommend to visit!
Francesco and staff are great
Peace & Tranquility at its best , truly a place of worship, highly recommend a visit when in the area
Kind staff, for the most part. It was a great spiritual experience. Having said that there are next to no signs in English. Makes me as a "westerner"/american unwelcome as if Padre Pio didnt want me there.
If there were ten stars to click, I would ad an eleventh one. This Shrine is the heart of San Giovanni Rotondo, were St. Padre Pio de Pietrelcina lived, preached, received the stigmata and died after performing hundreds of proven miracles and conversions. The main Shrine is seat over the crypt where the remains of Padre Pio can be venerated and next to the original sacristy and confessional he used during his long, suffering life.
It is the new church of our lady of graces. One of the largest churches in Italian. The crypt is decorated with gold foil made from the donations of the pilgrims and the art is by father rupnik. It presents the life of padre pio, saint Francis of Assisi and of Jesus.
Ive been there several times and every time when I was there, I had an undescribable feeling. I could imagine of every scene when Padre Pio was alive.
Amazing Sanctuary! It has everything and more about Saint Padre Pío! If you have the opportunity you must come!
Padre Pio, also known as Saint Pius of Pietrelcina (Italian: Pio da Pietrelcina; 25 May 1887 – 23 September 1968), was an Italian Franciscan Capuchin, friar, priest, stigmatist, and mystic,[1] now venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church. Born Francesco Forgione, he was given the name of Pius (Italian: Piowhen he joined the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin.Padre Pio became famous for exhibiting stigmata for most of his life, thereby generating much interest and controversy. He was both beatified (1999and canonized (2002by Pope John Paul II.[2]The Sanctuary of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina is located in San Giovanni Rotondo, Province of Foggia, Italy.
Beautiful sanctuary build around the small church in which Saint Padre Pio lived in. Beautiful and unique as the Saint just died 40+ years ago. A centre of faith and spirituality of the Italian people.
You need to visit the original chapel and the Church if you want to understand Padre Pios journey.
Another sacred place in Italy, is the church/shrine of Padre pio in San Giovanni, Rotondo, Italy. A famous pilgrimage site. If youre planning to visit i suggest you take a night travel or early morning to avoid a huge crowd.
I am a huge fan of old churches and their structures and even though this isnt an ancient one, whats inside its what attracts people the uncorrupted body of Saint Padre Pio Pietrelcina. This is an active church and not a museum but the lower floors you will find the crypt where the body is resting. Impressive to see a body that has not decayed since 1968. Note that photos are not allowed inside the crypt 🤭. Impressive to see.
Calm place in small and old village.
One of the greatest place to see
Such a beautiful place. Very clean and well organized. They also bless the things that you buy as souvenir😁
A place you find a man lived in the grace of God in simple ways... And you will get that grace too through his intersection. Viva padre Pio
Just parked outside of the church and got a ticket of 54 EUR due to be 25 min late. Did not have enough coins to pay. The credit card reader did not work
Everyone should visit the resting place of St. Padre Pio! His love for God inspired him to build a huge Hospital to care for those who suffer.
Very solemn and nice church. Lots of parking space around. I suggest you try the pay and display parking as its cheaper and closer to church entrance. See below where it is located.
This is the older church of the Sanctuary (as compared to the newer Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church). It was originally built in 1629, but expanded in 1959 by the Padre Pio to accommodate thousands of pilgrims. Here, you could see his cell, confessional, the crucifix from which he received the stigmata. But the highlight would be his tomb in the crypt, where his incorrupt body is displayed in a glass casing. While I was here, there was this great sense that lying there was a great and holy man.
His church (padre pioquaint good structure lovely architecture . Lovely for weddings as its devided from the main church all welcome ..
I am a non believer but Padre Pio was and is a great man for me. He realy was an example for each and everyone of us. Today I went to visit the sanctuary since it was something I wanted to do from long time ago but, it was sad to see that a great Man has become a speculative attraction for someones income interests. I am sure he wouldnt have wanted this."My past, O Lord, to Your mercy; my present, to Your love; my future to Your providence."St. Padre Pio
WOW! I mean WOW! If you can forget about the touristic aspect of the town that flourishes on Padre Pios legacy and can be over the top.
Words cant describe the sence of peace.
Visit to this place 15 years ago left a lasting impression on me. Wish to go there one more time.
Very spiritual place good for the soul and mind
Peaceful, February great time to visit
impressed to meet padre pio.
Beautiful church. Very humbling. Gorgeous Atmosphere in it. Fantastic experience.
It is a placet wherein the Mother of God is venerated as Our Lady of Grace. And p.Pio was too much devoted to during his life. Many people come to ask Grace through her intercessione. I love so much this place.
You feel the presence of God here. It is beautiful! So rich in history, the faith palpable!
Very serene a place of prayer and meditation ❤
Very beautiful and spirit place
5 Days doing security in the Perth Australia cathedral for the visit of the relics of father Pio was the most rewarding time I had for a long time. Thank you to the Padre who came 2016 and 2018 for his kindness .

So glad i visited this place. Rented a car from rome to San Giovanni Rotondo. Easy place to go. Italian highways are easy.Padre Pio is my best friend and i. Will forever treasure the experience of seeing you in person. I shed tears upon seeing you for reasons i do not know.Padre Pio Pray for Us.
This place is worth visiting even if you have to drive 4000 kilometeres. Touching, moving and changing your soul place
Kind, caring and professional. Very intelligent gentleman that keeps updated on all cancer treatments.
I dont care too much for the upper church but I enjoyed the mosaics and lower church. Padre Pios incorrupt body is on display in the lower level. Cant beat that.
Thanks to God, have always decided to celebrate holy mass in the sanctuary of Fr. Pio and my dreams came true.In the fot I met my Reverend priests whom we have celebrated the holy Mass together. Thanks to God for having listened to my prayers.
+JMJ...Visited to spend time in prayer and to see the home of a very beloved suffering servant/priest of Jesus Christ. Saint Pio was an amazing man of deep love for God and all of mankind. An example of Christian servitude, trust in Gods divine providence, and a manly man who wrought many miracles for the sake of the conversion of sinners. My visit was a pilgrimage to pray and to pay homage to the memory of this man of God.
Such a Holy Place to be, where St. Padre Pio one of the greatest saints of our times lived.
Final home of the famous Saint Padre Pio, with very much of his personal objects (including his room ir "cell"and information on display (no English translations available however). Unfortunately, at this time you CANNOT see Pios body itself, although it is an incorruptible. Still worth the trip, and his hospital is right next door.
