Cayo Blanco Seafood Restaurant - Seafood restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
The manager (Alexand our beautiful, gracious hostess (Camilaensured that our very 1st meal (on our very 1st visit to Puerto Ricowas a meal worth waiting for. The purely fresh, locally sourced ingredients used to prepare this feast left us breathless. Thank you for setting the bar for superior excellence - in taste/presentation, service, and ambience.
Came in on a whim on Tuesday Sept 13 at about 8 ish the hostess was extremely nice and lively we were seated immediately. The waitress was very friendly n nice. Shoutout to the bartender the drinks were excellent food was so delicious we decided to go back the next day big mistake. The hostess was rude and only was concerned with this one table and watching movies on laptop. Bartender was excellent drinks were great food was not the same quality
Upscale, smaller restaurant with fantastic food. I had the Fried Redfish with Seafood Mofongo.
The appetizers, hospitality and drinks were incredible, sadly disappointed by the quality of the entrees. Bland and ill prepared, we found broken shells and unclean shrimp in the pasta and the swordfish and potatoes were bland as they could be. Very unfortunate considering the price. The vibe was amazing, they just need some better cooks for the entrees!!
We saved the best for last ❤️ We had a delicious surf & turf and a paella for one, finished with a Flan de coco for dessert
Delicious to the last bite. Starting with the empanadas we got the assorted that included crab, lobster and steak. All three had their own powerful flavors that makes you think about ordering another round. We followed it up with swordfish and lobster. Both had flavors and textures that combined to make a lasting impression. Both temperatures and wellness were to perfection. The restaurant is small so check a about reservations. We walked with no reservation but they asked if we had one. It was also a Wednesday night. Most of the seats were taken. Dress accordingly, no swim wear allowed. It is fine dinning. Would definitely visit again.
Amazing food, drinks and service. We had Sangria to drinkAppetizer crab cakes (omg! And octopus (amazing!)Main dish Swordfish with asparagus and veggiesNo pictures because everything was so delicious 😂A must visit!
From the appetizers, to meal, to drinks and dessert. All amazing. They are very strick with time management which was great for us since they had our table available from the moment we got there on time.We ordered: octopus and jumbo crab cakes (the best crab cakes Ive ever had), and the sword fish. All very good.Service is also excellent, was full on a Saturday night and we felt very well taken care of.Highly recommended, i will be back!
Honestly the Service and treatment was top notch. Way better than expected. 5 star. I think the name of the waitress is Christian or Christopher, he is excellent.
Best stop we made while in Puerto Rico. After trying numerous dishes, we were more than pleased with EVERYTHING! Alex was our bartender and server, we were amazed with the impressive service.
Had the BEST Mango Sangria 🥭....The Snapper and Plantains were EXCELLENT. The service was EXCELLENT also...
Amazing food, great service, great bartender. What more do you want. The last time I was here was 2 1/2 years ago, so glad the restaurant survived COVID. Restaurant was as good as the last last time. Thanks a million Alexander. For the great hospitality!
The Snapper is hearty and filling and the pasta is a delicate dish with great favors.
Food & drinks were very good! The only thing I didn’t like was the wait for the food. Took over an hour to receive our main dish. Seems like this a Puerto Rico thing because other restaurants took long to bring out the main entree
Very pricey, that definitely goes into this review. The presentation was good and the food tasted pretty good. However, Id expect it to be cheaper or taste better for more stars. If you dont want to walk far from a hotel on the beach and dont care about the price, would recommend.
Had dinner and drinks here last night and wow!!! Drinks were fresh the seafood was amazing I had the halibut the boys had the popular pyiea im sure I spelt it wrong lol but it was all so good. Our waiter was nice friendly and spoke good English if u want good seafood go check this place out
The food / alcohol and ambience were all excellent. The flavors of the alcohol and food enriched our dining experience . Alex who tended to our food needs was awesome in terms of promptness, cheerfulness and suggestions
1000% recommend this place! My husband & I checked this place out on our honeymoon - first night in PR. Right down the road from our hotel, reservations on open table - it’s a small place (but we got 2 seats at the bar). We had the skirt steak mufungo with garlic and OMG - delicious! Will def be going back before the end of our stay - & our bartender, Angel, was great too!
Food was fantastic. I was especially impressed by Johnny, our server. He was attentive, fun, and made the meal an experience. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks Johnny!!
It was uncomfortable in the small restaurant. The door did not shut well so it was hot and humid. The waiter was nice, but the waitress was short with me when I asked for water 3 times. They were short staffed, the food was ok, but not worth the price. The drinks were watered down and the service was extremely slow. Not worth the money.
I cannot recommend this restaurant. While I recognize the price hikes, the prices here aren’t reflected in quality food. The wine list is meager and the selections mediocre with a very short pour. The empanadas are made in house, the beef was better than the seafood but the crust too thick and heavy. The paella is bland and overcooked, light on seafood and vegetables. The tuna though pink was dry and mealy, nearly tasteless. The Caesar salad is romaine with bottled dressing and boxed croutons. All appetizers, salad and mains were served simultaneously. The service was polite. There’s a lot of possibilities here if they do better in the kitchen.
Arrived on time for my 830pm reservation. Three girls who were already waiting for the same time said that they were told to wait. Fifteen minutes later the server/host came out. I expressed that some communication on the wait would be nice. We can take a walk, come back in 5, 10, something... The server argued and said he did not understand our frustration (at this point 4 reservations were waiting outside with no idea what was going on). Of course I left. No apology, no customer service. He simply did not understand what we all were expecting... service... Very disappointing given that we had heard so many good things about the food. Will never know....
Amazing seafood meals and very friendly service that helped us navigate the menu.As a family we love octopus and the 4 variations did not disappoint. The Caesar salad was a little underwhelming, but combined well with the leftover Octopus salad to make a nice lunch the following day.
It has come to my understanding that all restaurant services in Puerto Rico took almost an hour. Waiters and service was friendly, however the food was not the best experience. I have had many seafood paella in my life but whats on their menu definitely not a paella. Its more like a super dry fried rice with regular rice grains (not bombaand a bland taste. Avoid this one and hopefully youll be lucky with other menus.
Reasonable restaurant but you definitely need to order carefully. Octopus appetizer had a nice fried coating that wasn’t too heavy. Skip the Pasta mare…tasted like canned tomato sauce with frozen seafood medley
The food was terrible, the paella was extremely salty and we had to send it back, one of the appetizers wasnt fresh. The lady next to us didnt eat most of her steak dinner. On a positive the guy loved the whole fried fish. The mojito was good as well. We wished we went anywhere else.
Oh my oh my what can I say about this place aside from delicious strong drinks and very tasty food. Employees are very courteous and accommodating. I do recommend it for an elegant and simple dinner date or family time. For Covid19 concerns know that (at that time10/2021employees ask for vaccine card and they do wear mask.
Very good price point for Condado area. Waiter was attentive and beverages delivered soon after ordering. The fresh red snapper was delicious; well prepared. I would come back here; small venue but socially distancing the guests at tables. Very good dining experience!
Lobster and octopus are fresh and good. Pina Colada is very good. Seafood Paella is fine, and it would be better if it has less rice and more vegetable or other ingredients. Crab cake is very special but I dont like it. Want to try Shrimp or mixed seafood stew next time. A little expensive.
The dinner was okay. We had the red snapper which was fried and looked really pretty. But was a tad bit overcooked and thus was dry. My son had skirt steak which was pretty good and my daughters had the seafood pasta and seafood Mofongo. Both said their dishes were pretty good. Honestly the best thing that we had were the crabcakes. I’d recommend those. Atmosphere was really good they seem to care about safety which I really liked. Overall my reaction to this restaurant is that the food was average and terribly overpriced so prepare yourself. Our server Alex was very good. I’d recommend this place for their ambience not necessarily their food.
We had an absolutely marvelous time at Cayo. Located just steps from La Concha and across the street from Condado Vanderbuilt Hotel its very convenient and easy to get to. Our server, Alex was such a great host! He was the only server but he handled every table like they were his only table. We didnt have long wait times either. He gave recommendations and described the menu items as if he cooked the food himself. Every item - food & drinks - that hit our table was excellent, flavorful and filling!
Came for the trip advisor recommendation. The octopus is great, but really a small dish.Don’t try the swordfish fillet, not delicious at all, even worsen than a homemade one. In general, it is a small fine dining restaurant, but the price is slightly higher than the values.
Amazing ambiance & experience overall. We ordered paella, mahi mahi mofongo, truffle mash, maduros, chef salad & the sampler as an appetizer (not all good pictured). Was really great! Make a reservation if you can to avoid waiting in a long line.
Crab cake and red snapper are so good! Salad leaves are not fresh…service and vibes are good
Absolutely Wonderful ! Super tiny yet loud and inviting. The food was the best we have had in San Juan. We ordered the clams to start, they were amazing and so flavorful. We proceeded with avocado salad, the Halibut and the Seared Tuna. The fish dishes were phenomenal and cooked perfectly. My two year old had rice and beans, although basic the beans were so flavorful and had a nice broth. We will be back for sure. Support this little gem!
Came here for a Saturday night dinner. The place is small and they have a person limit, so make a reservation to secure. All the food, especially the seafood is really good. Get an appetizer & drinks, because the entrees take a minute. I got the crab cakes to start, then the seafood stew w/ a side of mofongo. For drinks I got sangria, which was excellent. Service was great & attentive as well, but I did sit at the bar, FYI. In walking distance to all the major hotels in Condado on Ashford Avenue.
The food was quite pricey, but in my opinion worth the experience ! We had the Mahi Mahi, Grouper, and the octopus appetizer. It was off the hook. This is a great example of fine dining. Really good drinks too, I recommend the tropical frozen drinks. The snapper looked really good to and was the catch of the day. Don’t get to try it as I had snapper the day before but I’d think it’s just as good if not better as the other dishes ! The staff and owner are also very nice and accommodating. Great place to stop by for a fancier night out !
The fried red snapper was THE BEST meal I had in PR, and that includes dining in Piñones and at Mortons. Trust me, its AMAZING. The red snapper is on a bed of sweet plantains and beans and rice was on the side. Finish it with tres leches.
Food was really yummy. Paella was good but 3 orders for our table, I got the 3rd dish and could tell, it was pretty sad, missing most of the seafood the other 2 dishes had. Appetizers were delicious. The cocktails were good.
The service was perfect along with the food and drinks. My friend and I wanted to sample so many items on the menu, they all sounded delicious.
This was the best dinner on my girls trip in Puerto Rico! Everything was absolutely delicious. The food was cooked well and filled with flavor. The truffle mashed potatoes was so creamy & rich. The show stopper was definitely dessert. Hands down THEE best Tres Leches Cake I have ever had. The service was also top notch. My only drawback is that making alternations to things didn’t happen unless there was an allergy. So like when we asked to make something spicy they wouldn’t and instead brought pepper sauce. Overall I would highly recommend as a must when in PR.
Our server Camila was amazing! Very thorough and sweet... The food was to die for! I had the NY Strip and Red Beans & Rice and my fiancée had the Crab Salmorejo which she throughly enjoyed! For dessert we had cheese flan.. Esta muy magnifico!! This place is a must have when traveling to Condado Puerto Rico and for half the price of its competitors...
One of the best Restaurant in Puerto Rico. The Food was delicious as well the waiters were very Courteous. I came into town with family they were able to accommodate us total 16. [I did call in advance and they were able to sit us all of us] I appreciate their hospitality as well they did inform us of the curfew hence why their hours were limited. If your looking for an intimate setting this is the Spot! 😊
Hands down one of the best places to dine on the island. Make sure to make your reservations if you plan to eat during the busy hours of a weekend. They make gastro magic so make sure to enjoy every bite.
My daughter and I visited #Cayo_Blanco_Seafood_Restaurant while in Puerto Rico. I was celebrating my birthday. The place is small, so reservations are definitely needed. However, once inside, we were greeted by an amazing staff! When seated the waiter was equally amazing. He was full of cheer! He provided recommendations on food selections. Great choices. The food was DELICIOUS. OMG! If I ever returned to Puerto Rico this is a place I would definitely return to. From the beginning of our dining experience to the end - PHENOMENAL!
Incredible food👌🏽We had the Mahi Mahi and Alaskan Salmon dishes along with Crab cakes (available without dairy and eggs!)Carlos was an excellent waiter and host. Simple place in Condado with several refined food options. They make great drinks as well. The seating area is limited due to Covid since tables have to be space. Make sure you call ahead to determine whether you should make a reservation.
Went here for my birthday while visiting the island. I must say the food was amazing, especially the mussels best Ive had ever! Staff was polite and attentive as well.
At the recommendation of our hotel staff, we made our way to Cayo Blanco for dinner. It did not disappoint us at all. We had a very delicious meal of various appetizers and entrees. The Tiger Shrimp, Green Plantains, Empanada’s, Scallops, Octopus and other items were all fabulous and beautifully presented! It was interesting service as they seemed to only be able to fix a couple items at a time and so, our food was brought out randomly whenever something was ready. This was actually a bonus as we were not overwhelmed and could spend time trying different things while they were fresh and hot.
The food was sooooo good and the service was amazing. Its a small place with a nice vibe. You can sit at the bar or table. The best option is to get a ride here because parking in this area is limited. The waitstaff was very attentive and made sure I was taken care of. Would recommend this place for a date or with friends. I was solo but still enjoyed every moment.
I love this place The service is superb, and the food is truly great. I have eaten at Cayo Blanco at least 5 times over the last 3 years, and the excellence in service and the cuisine has been consistent. My wife and I had the reception dinner for our small wedding here, and everyone in our party loved the food. The calamari appetizer is the best Ive ever had, and Ive had EVERY calamari appetizer on Ashford Ave. The steaks are all superb, but the seafood is the reason to eat at Cayo Blanco. The chef is a master of his art, and the wait staff is second to none. If you find yourself in Puerto Rico, do yourself a favor and go to Cayo Blanco.
