Attraction offering wooden walkways & ponchos for an up-close & wet view of the Bridal Veil Falls.
You can get closer to the Falls when you descend 175 feet into the Niagara Gorge and experience the power of the Falls from the Hurricane Deck at Cave Of The Winds.they provide you with a poncho along with the ticket. this is one of the best experiences in the world. You wont be disappointed if you ever plan a trip to the Niagara Falls. It is worth a visit just for the sheer thrill of seeing one of the worlds best waterfalls that attracts over 30-million visitors from across the globe, every year.
One of my favorite experiences when it comes to the falls. I do recommend water shoes and some weather pants as you can and will get wet, if not soaked from ankles down. It can be crowded but worth the stop.
While this was a fun and interesting attraction, there were a few qualms in my opinion. To start the price, paying $19 per person to go watch a video and then go down to the bridal veil falls to walk around on a board walk type set up just seemed a little outrageous. Its not like you can spend a lot of time doing things when youre there, mostly just walk the path they have and look at the sights from a different viewpoint. While it is really cool getting close to the falls and experiencing the force coming off the falls, its not $19 worth cool. Second, there is a good potential of getting SOAKED. They do provide a poncho but there is no place to store a bag if you have one so be prepared to fit it under your poncho. Lastly I didnt find the workers there all that pleasant, the one scanning the tickets was especially miserable. When I said thank you, she responded with "good bye"... I get people have good days and bad days but about half the staff were noticeably unhappy and not engaging at all.Again its a neat little attraction, but its over priced for a 20 minute experience.
You’ll never experienced something better with Niagara Falls like this. The wind is so strong and crazy that it’s the only way you get to “feel” Niagara Falls!Prepare to get soaking wet all over. Views are better from Canada side BUT experience is better in US side!
$17/ticketOnce you enter into the building there is a museum on the history of the falls and a small video about the waterfalls thatis interesting. Then you will get a yellow poncho; that is when the real fun begins. There are stairs to go up and down. Its self guided. The further up the waterfall you climb; the more you will get wet. There is a section called hurricane and it is the most wind and water of the whole experience. You can avoid that area if you choose. Some tips are to wear the poncho from the maid of the mist (if you go to that experience first), wear sandals that are able to get wet (no socks), dress lightly, waterproof your cameras and/ or phones and most importantly have fun.We enjoyed Maid of the Mist more as a tour and the ponchos were better. Goat Island was beautiful!
Amazing experience! Make sure to wear proper clothing because you will get wet. Ponchos are provided after you walk through the cave upon exiting the elevator.
Narrow walkways, so one feels the constant press of tourists who are oblivious to whats happening around them (painstakingly posing for family portraits on the scaffoldings slippery stairs when other people are shoving their way up the stairs may be unwise). At the beginning youre shown a short documentary extolling governments efforts at muscling out competition by coercing previous tour operators off the falls through eminent domain, justified as eliminating "crass commercialism"... not like that $15 photo Cave of the Winds funnelled us into buying at the outset.
One of the great experience in Niagara fall. We had parked our car in Parking Lot 2 at Goat Island and ticket counter is near by from parking area. You’ll see the small video to see the history of Niagara before actually going down to Cave of the winds. You’ll get the rain ponchos at the down but they stopped providing the slippers so plan accordingly.
Totally worth it. We loved it so much and it was so much fun. You’re literally under the water fall (US side). You can actually feel the intensity of the water. My heart was pounding. We went pretty early so there wasn’t long waits or long lines like some people say here. And we were able to spend as much time was we pleased under the falls. Totally worth it and recommended.
9/15/22Must do activity in Niagara Falls!Total cost per person is $19. I enjoyed the intro video as it was informative and interesting. Definitely grabs your attention. I advise you to wear water shoes. You will be drenched too. It gets very windy so water starts to pour into your poncho. Looking forward to coming back.
To be honest, I was a little disappointed... I guess I didnt read the part about there really is no cave. You take an elevator down then walk through a tunnel and out onto a boardwalk very close to the bottom of Bridal Veil Falls. There is a great deal of spray and depending on how close you want to go you could get soaking wet. The walkway along the Falls is very cool and it was fun. Just know there WAS a cave, but not now.
Wow! Just amazing.the power of Mother Nature on display.prepare to get soaked to have best experience.once you enter the building there is museum on the history of the fall and then watch small video and then exit on back side and that is when real fun begins.what an unforgettable moment! This is must visit place.
Amazing experience. I loved it so much. The cost is about $19 for adults and about $14 for kids. There was a line but it went quick. You are able to pick a time slot.Once you enter into the building there is a museum on the history of the falls and then you watch a small video about the waterfalls. You then will exit and get a poncho; that is when the real fun begins. There are stairs to go up and down. The further up the waterfall you climb; the more you will get wet. There is a section called hurricane and it is the most wind and water of the whole experience. Some tips are to wear the poncho from the maid of the mist (if you go to that experience first), wear shoes that are able to get wet (no socks), dress lightly, waterproof your cameras and/ or phones and most importantly have fun.*PS you will get soaked*
My daughter and I went on the cave of the winds tour. There are some really good views and quiet a bit of wind when you get close to the falls. They give you a nice plastic rain coverall with head piece. If like what happened to us the wind uncovered our heads. Quite a few stairs. Cost 19.00 for an adult.
Such a life experience! You get to be super close to the falls, seeing them pouring down from above you, and touch the water. Be prepared to get wet if you plan to go close to the water (could be pretty intense on the hurricane deck). Consider wear hat + sunglasses or even swimming goggles to keep eyes open.
Had a wonderful time!! The closest you can get to the falls and so reasonably priced for the experience. Kids under 6 are free. Get tickets early in the day, as all ticket booths (I think there are 9sell simultaneously and the time slot you want may sell out. There’s a nice little intro film you watch about the history of the falls before going down the elevator to embark on your journey. Wear waterproof shoes!! You’ll get soaked. The ponchos help keep your shirt dry, but the rest of your clothes will be wet. The hurricane deck is insane, don’t miss it!
Unbelievable experience. Wonderful views, and literally, within the splash zone of the Bridal Veil falls. Worth Avery penny of the trip down to see the rush of the water up close. Do this last as you will most likely have soaked feet the rest of your stay.
This is the best way to experience the power of Niagara Falls !! We got there in the early morning around 9:30 am and there was not wait ! But when we came back up about an hour later there was a huge line .
This is a must visit place. You will get drenched on Hurricane deck and the experience is so much fun. I absolutely loved it here. We got the tickets on the site, we didn’t find them online so you can do maid of the mist tour and then head here. If you are driving then park in parking lot 1, that’s closer to maid of mist and this place. Carry a waterproof case for the phone and keep change of clothes in the car if you’re staying far away. Amazing experience!!
Highly recommended. This is probably the best attraction in Niagara Falls. Be prepared to get very wet but it will worth it for sure.We also went to the Behind the Falls trip on the Canadian side later on and we would prefer Cave of the Winds. There are so much to see and you can feel the power of the power of waterfall directly.
What an unforgettable experience! You will get wet. Bring a plastic bag for your cell phone if you want to bring it along. There was about an hour’s worth of lines throughout the experience on a July weekday afternoon. However, they were necessary as I’d imagine the park did not want to many people out on the boardwalks. This experience makes for a wonderful compliment to the Maid of the Mist tours. Kids older than five would enjoy this adventure also.
One of the best attractions in Niagara Falls (NY). To us it was the closest you can actually get to the falls. The force is really something that amazes you and it was beautiful.Definitely is a must do if you are in Niagara Falls. Just a heads up, there are steps that need to take to actually get the tour. So, be mentally prepared.
A must see place when visiting Niagara Falls! It’s on Goat Island and they charge extra for parking but it’s an awesome experience to stand under a waterfall! Make sure you go on the Hurricane Deck. Even kids love it and make sure your phone or camera is waterproof. Make sure you also bring some shoes you don’t mind getting soaking wet as they no longer give out sandals. The views are amazing and this experience is definitely better than the Journey Behind the Falls on the Canadian side (which is good but not nearly as great as the Cave of the Winds). An awesome way to experience Niagara Falls for sure!
Our family decided to do Cave of the Winds on a recommendation from staff at the Marriott we were staying at nearby. Were also all afraid of heights, and abandoned plans to do the Maid of the Mist after seeing the glass elevator tower you ride up and the bridge you have to walk across.Once you officially enter, your group piles into a room for a very quick history recap of the Niagara falls. Thankfully, this video is only about 5 minutes long and is entertaining so it will not bore the kids (or adultswith a history lesson. After exiting you walk through a tunnel and to an elevator, which takes you down to the base. This is all truly self-guided, you get whatever you want out of it. It can be as quick as you want it to be. We were in and out in about 20 minutes, took some great photos and videos at Hurricane Deck and got out. So glad we did this instead of the boat ride, I feel like you really got to feel the power and take in the beauty much more this way than viewing from a boat.
Definitely the experience of a lifetime! We went on a Tuesday so the crowd was very reasonable. Id imagine its packed on the weekends tho but still would have been worth it. If that hurricane deck doesnt make you feel alive then check if you have a pulse! Needless to say but wear clothes and shoes that can get weight. The poncho helps very little but I knew that going in. Neat little movie before you go down to the bottom as well. Reasonable price and my toddler daughter was free.. If youre at the falls this a must!
Honestly a great experience if you are in this area of new york. Beautiful story and history to go with it as well. Definitely recommend coming. You even get to stand under the waterfalls and feel the power.
First of all, you aren’t actually walking through any caves. Be prepared to get soaked. You walk up steps, get soaked. Walk up more steps, get more soaked. Rinse. Repeat. The family had fun. The little kids cried a bit. Lol. It was a great experience. We got some good photos.
I never found any cave, but there is this red board walk you can walk on next to Bridal Falls, and the ricochet of water hitting rocks sprays on you - feels almost like youre in a hurricane at the most intense upper spot! I got tricked into getting some third party $50 ticket - you apparently can just get a ticket directly from the provider for cheaper.
Honestly a great experience if you are in this area of new york. Beautiful story and history to go with it as well. Definitely recommend coming. You even get to stand under the waterfalls and feel the power.
It is pretty amazing! Prepare to get soaked to have the best experience. Theres a portion of the decking that puts you pretty much under the falls (this can be bypassed tho). Theres a set of stairs that will drench your feet. It was super fun!
Awesome!!! Great feeling of the Falls. Wear appropriate shoes. They will be soak and wet. Flip flops not a good idea. Something like water shoes or waterproof sandals would do. Have spear clothes in the car to change. Unforgettable experience!
Its the best thing that everyone can enjoy in US Niagara Falls. Its worth experiencing the hurricane. They dont provide sandals anymoreyou might get wet; so, I would suggescarrying extra clothes and crocs/ sandals with you.
The power of Mother Nature is on display here, up close! Get ready for a wild ride, this isn’t for the faint of heart but it is doable. I enjoyed this immensely and was totally awed by the experience. The water pounding down the rocks/over the stairs and platforms, the sound was tremendous! Be prepared to be wet, they give you a poncho and they gave us free water sandals but I’m not sure if the sandals are given away all the time, but I know the ponchos are. We did this right after the Maid of the Mist boat ride, we were already soaked so why not? Dress accordingly for sure, and girls-forget about hair and makeup that day for sure! Oh, and the seagulls are all over, you have been warned!
A must see attraction at the Niagara falls state park .. its a beautiful and thrilling experience getting to go under the bridal veil falls .. kids enjoyed a lot... You can feel the force and freshness of the water... I also love the fact that you can take your own time to walk slowly up the stairs.. take pictures and enjoy the falls without time limit...
Unbelievable experience ! hurricane deck was so intense it’s enough to push you over. Careful holding your phone as well it could easily get washed out of your hand. Will do this again for sure ! The line process is quite long on a busy weekend. You also watch a short movie clip in a theater before headed down to the decks.
Dope. If you go to the falls you HAVE to do this! Worth the money and the wait! The entry video room is SUPER sensory overload and I would not recommend it for anyone with sensitivities to sound and lights. Also, you get selected times, dont buy tickets until you are right at the gate ready to go! DO NOT BUY TICKETS AHEAD. if you miss your slot you are out of luck.
You have never experienced the Niagara Falls truly if you haven’t gone here. We booked the total tour package with a third party tour agency, and they organised everything for us. It was a summer long weekend, so everywhere it was packed. We had to wait in line before getting the elevator access, however this is worth. You will be taking stairs to go actually almost near to a branch of the Niagara Falls. You can touch the water and feel the force. This is magnificent. They will give you rain Pancho and a belted flip-flop. Make sure that you can take a few stairs. The stairs are wooden and can be watery. Everything is worth when it comes to the experience. I can’t recommend enough .
Awesome!! The falls are so beautiful! It’s crazy walking the wooden platforms and staircases but it’s perfectly safe. You can walk right up to Bridal Veil Falls and get drenched! It is a very cool experience. You get to keep the cute waterproof sandals and rain poncho. Bring a plastic bag and 2gallon size zip bag to put your shoes in. Also you must have a waterproof pouch for your phone to get unbelievable pictures. This is an unforgettable experience!
Wow just wow!!! ¡Bring a reusable poncho please! This was definitely my favorite activity while visiting the Niagara Falls! We had to wait 3 hours for our tour but we found other stuff to do in the mind time. Let me tell you the wait was absolutely worthy! Make this your first stop even if you get completely wet you will be dry by the end of any other activity. We visited by the end of May so the weather was hot during the day and the water was cold. The beauty was breathtaking. I do wish we visitors would be more mindful of this natural beauty we get to come in contact with. Please pick up your trash, don’t leave your ponchos behind. Don’t dispose of your plastic trash on the ground. They are ring-billed gull nesting and leaving there. All the trash around was sad to see.
I loved the introduction and history of Niagra Falls. I found it interesting. The experience was fun! Although I am not sure why they call it Cave of The Winds...you are outside on an observation deck that loops. It is beautiful.I hated the amount of seagulls and bird poop. Once I got over the overwhelming sight of birds... I enjoyed the rest.
Must bring the following, if you want to enjoy to the fullest.SlippersA water proof bagIf possible water proof mobile coverA ponchothey havent provided us poncho because they said its off season although it was 3rd week of May, but luckily we had it from Maid of the mist, so that wasnt a problem for us.
This is the best attraction in Niagara in my opinion. There was a long queue when we visited. But the wait was totally worth it. This is perhaps the closest you can get to the falls. We carried our backpacks here without knowing that we would get drenched by the sprays. Nevertheless, a very refreshing experience.
Great view from the bottom of the falls. They were still putting together the pathway which they take down every winter, but it was still great. It cost $12 USD per adult
I’d strongly suggest to visit this place only in the summer. During the Winter and early spring this is a scam we paid $12 per person only to get down to the ramp and not behind the falls. But the view was nice ( not worth $12. I am surely going to visit this place back in the summer and I will write about my experience. ✌️
The best experience of Niagara Falls. I have done all the attractions and I think Cave of the Winds is the best among them. In the summer, youre under the bridal veil falls. In the winter, youre a bit further, but can still feel the mist from the falls. Just make sure you take waterproof and fog proof camera or cover as our pictures ended up foggy.
One of my favorite spots of the visit. Youre going to get soaked. Please forgive the water on my GoPro lens. This was just incredibly awesome. The winds got so strong and the force of the water is just beautiful. A lot of stairs but worth the climb to see the fall at different angles. Every level was so unique.
Absolute must visit while in Niagara Falls. To be able to feel the awesome power of these magnificent Falls is just breathtaking. I was awed at the flowers growing in between the rocks in the Falls, no soil?? And the history behind the Cave of the winds.. how it was built, how many times it had to be rebuilt, etc. Just an amazing experience overall. Very much worth every penny.
We absolutely loved it. Summer and spring is probably the most busiest time of year. End of November is chilly and not many people. It was super quick to get in. Go into to y museum type area, then watch a 8 minute movie then take a 175 feet journey to the bottom of gorge and stand by falls. Great pics. Very interesting and breathtaking.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this attraction when visiting Niagara Falls, as it was my favorite part of my visit. This is guaranteed to be your most memorable experience with a waterfall and is completely worth your time and money. (Please note that you need to buy tickets only at the ticket counter when you arrive on Goat Island, and you cant get them online. You begin the encounter by learning some history on the falls in a read-as-you-please diorama room, then continue to a small theatre to watch a brief movie that is very well put together. From there you are offered a pair of water shoes (your feet WILL get SOAKED on this adventureand are advised to swap them out for the shoes you’re wearing. (Your shoes can be carried with you if you have a wear proof bag, but most people leave them in a shoe drop along the trail and pick them back up when they are doneAt that time, you get to venture to the caves to board and elevator dropping 13 stories and are issued a yellow poncho (You’re going to need it). I suggest bringing a waterproof phone case to take photos and to wear shorts because anything sticking out below your poncho will get completely drenched. The path along the Cave of the Winds is a suspended wooden walkway with stairs and platforms. You can get as close as you want to the falls, even close enough to experience the hurricane strength winds or feel that water itself pounding down on you. There’s no time limit on this venture but allow yourself at least 30-45 minutes for the full encounter. You will never know an experience quite like this. IT’S A MUST SEE!
Awesome experience. It was a perfect day, you learn some cool stuff about the history of the falls. There are lots of stairs but plenty of hand holds, sturdy steps, slip resistant pads everywhere so people of all ages can enjoy.Note on the process:They provide sandals so your shoes dont get wet but make sure someone has a bag to put your shoes in under the poncho so you dont have to leave them on the trail. Or if youre a fanny pack wearer strap your shoes to it under your poncho.
