Description
Brilliant museum. Fantastic exhibition 5⭐️
Hidden gem. There is so much to do here. We had 3 hours but could easily have spent a whole day! Staff were welcoming and helpful. Wide variety of history presented in a factual way.
MoreI really enjoyed the museum, I went especially to see the Sheela na gig pieces they have, which are excellent but was pleasantly surprised with the large collection of historical artifacts it holds. Adults and children enjoyed it and the little room of broken things was an unexpected, slice of joy 😊
MoreA feast of historical information in a superb location that is full of its own history. Well worth visiting where the very helpful staff will steer visitors in the right direction. Very good value in my opinion.
MoreFabulous building (previously a Convent Schoolin BallyJamesduff housing a cornucopia of artefacts celebrating Cavan life especially, and then, theres the replica of a World war 1 trenche. Very impressiveMy favourite space, The Museum of Broken Things on top floor.

A place I always wanted too visit but with all things C - related I couldnt until now. The WW1 trenches can be eerie especially on your own just imaging life back then in them.Inside the museum, its well decked out! And you wont feel the hours fly by.
MoreAmazing museum in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan. Theres something in the museum and outside grounds to keep eveyone interested. There are great displays on Gaelic football, Camogie, ancient Irish artefacts, life in a World War 1 trench, Irish Independence and rural Cavan life. The exhibitions are based on 3 floors and outside in the grounds at the back. Wheelchair users were visiting the same day that I was there and were able to use the lift to access each floor. Youll need to allow at least an hour to get around the exhibitions. The museum has a lovely cafe serving coffee and snacks, a good shop, toilet facilities and free parking. The staff are very welcoming and pleasant, I left my money in the cafe and one of the staff found me to return it.
MoreThe museum presents a large piece of Irish history ... here we can see how bravely Irish soldiers fought, you can see various stuff and costumes that have accompanied people for centuries. The building is surrounded by a garden. Each piece the museum takes us back into the past.
MoreVisited the museum as part of an Active Age Group of 38, it was very interesting for the majority of the Group, some of who want to return for another visit, refreshments were served, well worth a visit.
MoreThis museum makes for a great day out. Very well presented & steeped in history. We hope to return again, as we didnt get to see everything in detail, as we were a little late arriving. Friendly & informative staff 👍
MoreLovely museum with a large trench system built out back. Family ticket only 14 euro. Has irish, GAA, gailic, WW1 and uprising history. Worth it alone for the trench experience.
MoreA wonderful experience enjoyed by the whole family and very affordable with a family ticket costing €14.
MoreFantastic place to visit. Some artifacts from thousands of years ago combined with more modern militaria from the great war. Was fascinating and beautiful gardens to view. Absolute steal at 6 euros.

MoreLovely well maintained attraction, lots to see and read about. The Broken things experience was curious and nostalgic, beautiful gardens and grounds. The lady at reception was friendly and informative, she was doubling as the tea lady when we visited so fair play to her.
MoreCouldnt recommend more highly..Experiences the trenches was amazing as is the museum of broken things . Go you wont regret it ..
MoreAh just the fact its in Ballyjamesduff is worth a visit alone. We loved the World War trench experience is a must and the reflection garden so peaceful. A lovely addition to outside. So much to read about and learn about. Somewhere to go when you are discovering Cavan.

MoreIve lived just 40 minutes away and have never been. Today I went with my 7 year old. Fantastic the trenches and GPO a frim favourite. We did outside first, returned to house, playground, nuns walk and coffee in cafe. All impressive. A good 2-3 hours would be required.
MoreA great place to spend a day, good variety of exhibitions to take in. You do need to give yourself time to wander round as there are three floors and an outside garden and area where there is a replica WW1 trench to explore. Lovely little cafe to have a bite and a cuppa as well. A really great experience, we will definitely be back.

MoreAn amazing place. Museum big enough to not lose interest. Kids get to dress up. The Seine trenches are amazing. The kids adored it.
MoreA fabulous place to visit!!!! I particularly enjoyed the World War One trenches!!!! The guide was brilliant!!!!!!I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!!!!!
MoreWe went camping in Virginia and took my boys to the museum. We all enjoyed it. There is also an outside area where you can go into ww2 trenches. Inside was interesting and dressing up clothes which we all enjoyed. If you are in the area to and see it. Entrance was €6 for me. Boys went in free.
MoreLove it! Very interesting place. The guide was amazing.
Very interesting range of exhibits. The WW1 Trenches are a sanitised reminder of the horrors of the Somme.
MoreVisited here with my wife, father-in-law and kids from the USA. I’m from Ireland originally they’re not. My brother lives in Cavan so he brought us down to it. Some interesting things but some really boring things. I was just meh by it all. I brought my drone with me and took some of these. If you are a history buff and like to read over everything you’ll love this place. For me it wasn’t interactive enough. Maybe have bomb sounds going off in the trenches or have some interactive person running around in the trenches, or some live show. My suggestion that’s all.
