Beautiful Cathedral
I attended a mass for a family friend , I love this magnificent church, but the sound system is poor , it is very cold , and would be much cosier if it was reduced by one third with a glass decide that way the people would be closer to the alter would here what is going on & be bit warmer, that way more people would attend mass,Alternative Remove the seats from the rear of the Church, its worked in other towns & cities where numbers are dwindling, limited parking for people who have walking difficulties,Tommy Farrelly Castlebrock Ballinalee N39P2K3
MoreLovely acoustic.

Lovely place to visit.
I love our Lord home
Really interesting visit. Remarking on all the little side chapels
Very Peaceful place to pray
Nice venue / building, too many people crammed in and seating not comfortable
Impressive building was a great venue for Fleadh22 concert
Was amazed at the beautiful architecture with all the marble artifacts such as the alter rails with its gates and pulpit still intact.
MoreFantastic place to experience the All Ireland Final of the Senior Ceile Bands during The 2022 Fleadh Ceol na hÉirinn. Lighting and sound were superb. Atmosphere was electric in this magnificent architectural masterpiece. Congrats to The Grange Camross Ceoltas representing Leinster who won the silver medal coming second to the Deise Waterford representing Munster. No other venue could have topped the Cathedral in providing the people attending such a wonderful evening of traditional Irish music played by wonderfully talented musicians.
MoreAmazing Building. Acoustics 1st Class. Will definitely visit again.
Went to a concert last night. Acoustics are brilliant.
Beautiful church . Open 6th September 1936. It has a capacity of 5000 . It cost £275,000 to construct

MoreI was baptized made my communion and conferment and my father worked on the building of it 1932
MoreMagnificent old cathedral with ornate mosaics and museum
Beautiful Cathedral! Very peaceful
Beautiful local cathedral in Mullingar. Easy access and focal point from most parts of the town.
MoreWas here for another ceremony, wasnt as godly to be honest, might have been the fact it was a Monday afternoon, apparently its more holy on a Sunday
MoreA very peaceful place. Well maintained grounds and there is a secret path that leads on to the Royal Canal greenway. The building has exquisite marble flooring, the many paintings and sculptures are captivating. There is also a museum to the rear of the building. A nice place to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life and find some peace and quiet for a few moments in prayer. If you do manage to get a mass you will enjoy the music and singing.
Moreexecelent and alovely mass with father iganis
Great church. So big and mesmerizing
With a few hours to kill and not anything open due to the order from the Irish Junta for the Covid nonsense, there was very little else to do in the town but pay a visit to the Cathedral.A pretty big Cathedral for the town and not much to look at from the outside, inside was an air of tranquility, only a few people wandering around, some in deep prayer and contemplation, while I just took a nice walk by the pews to look at the beautiful murals and frescos, but also to gaze at the amazing mosaics on the floors with their intricate designs put in place piece by piece, how long it must have taken but very unique.Yes it was a good place to wander on a slow day.
MoreBeautiful cathedral well organised for social distance during the Covid 19 epidemic 🙏💜
MoreLove this place. Amazing mosaics by Boris Anrep
Grandiose cathedral for a place of only 20.000 inhabitants. One of the biggest cathedrals Ive visited in Ireland, and very different than the most. Writings on the floor at entrance door, flat and not round ceiling, St. Brigids cross on the pillars near altar, St. Jacobs shell on the monument outside the Cathedral are some of the details that are very different from other cathedrals in Ireland. If in Midlands and Westmeath this is a place to visit, no matter if you are not Catholic or Christian.
MoreHaving viewed Holy Thursday Mass and Good Friday Passion, I wasvery impressed by the wonderful Liturgies. Both Clergy and layparticipants all performed their roles to perfection. Well done.Happy viewer.Florence
MoreIt is a beautiful building the size and structure is fantastic. Even though it is huge inside and out the moment you step inside you can feel the calm and peace. There are smaller chapels inside where you can have time to yourself. There is also a museum and shop here also.
MoreBeautiful majestic building..painting behind altar is fab..and the catherdral shop is worth a visit too..just in the porch of catherdral...
MoreI recently accepted christianity and this the one of the best churches I found in ireland. Its always busy which gives a sense of good faith. Its very well laid out and ample parking. Big gathering on sunday mass hence the reason I have to come here every time. Love this church. God Bless
MoreI had to deliver a pallet of goods from Fatima in Portugal and had to go through the main gates to drive around the back of this amazing building and the priest gave me a hand carrying it in and thanks to Linda for your help getting a truck in and keeping the barrier up
MoreWonderful memories of growing up in Mullingar, made all my sacraments here. Beautiful place for quiet reflection
MoreSad times to visit a church or cathedral. But my overall feeling for the priest who conducted the service was very good . He spoke with a wonderful feeling for the family .
MoreBeautiful Cathedral, we were lucky as there was a traditional irish music group playing and singing for the mass.
MoreBeautiful cathedral, best in Midlands
Visited the cathedral to occupy myself on an hour long wait at the mullingar train station. Spent the time well. Inside the cathedral is a peaceful place to retreat. Prayerful atmosphere.
MoreWe visited this and attended early mass in this church on the 15 of October 2017, it was an awesome experience and definitely worth visiting and praying at. The interior of the church was very neat and well maintained . The sound was great and the priests voice could be heard clearly. There was adequate parking spaces outside the church as well. Over all it is a great and magnificent church and as I already have said , definitely worth praying at.
