Catford Bridge Tavern - Pub in Wete, Tanzania
Great pub right next to the two Catford train stations! Fast service and kind staff.
I wont be going here again after the landlord was rude to me.You can tell he does it to many patrons as the pub is always just a fraction full despite being in spitting distance of 2 mainline stations!
Best pub in SE. Good Music amazing food
Its a nice pub. Plenty of room and a nice outdoor area.
Really lovely place. My first time in Catford. Girl behind the bar was really lovely n sweet. If we didnt have a job to go to we wouldve chilled out there longer. Such a great space to sit outside with a pint n relax.
Nice pub on the bridge over the railway as the name suggests. We went there to watch the Aviva rugby semis. Plenty of room and lots of TVs. Sound wasnt on the TV but the landlord switched the sound on. The bar maid was lovely and made a big fuss of my big dog. V enjoyable afternoon, early evening.
Lovely little pub with a really nice outdoor seating area with heaters to keep you warm.
I visited here on the basis of its location. Its a huge pub with interesting seating and decor. The young barmaid was extremely pleasant and the pub is dog friendly, both winning points for me. So why do I only rate it 3 stars? The extortionate cost of their beers and the abysmal lack of any actual beer. They only sell lagers and IPAs! Little wonder then that the place had no other customers in the middle of the day! How this pub can justify its crazy prices I dont know. Its not located in Mayfair or Knightsbridge but scruffy old Catford where theres huge poverty and unemployment. Why pay £5 per pint for a poor range when theres a pub not far from it where one can buy real ale at £1.50 per pint? Id really like to be able to drink here with my little dog in tow but Id need a mortgage for a session. This is not a pub for locals but a trendy place for yuppies passing through. Truly disappointing.
A gem in a world of chaos. A place of calm in stormy times. Im so glad this survived the pandemic. It has been beautifully restored, making it full of character but sensitively and aesthetically so.
Decent decor but rude staff. I really hare the fact they serve you in plastic cups, Ive never had to drink from a plastic cup inside a pub before - not only does it affect the taste but its extremely bad for the environment - the customers here are loud and rowdy so Im guessing this is the reason why!
No food football on the box and karioki all stuff I hate enough said
Great local pub. Burger and a Guinness on Saint Pattys Day! Service was spot on.
Just had roast beef probably the best roast dinner I’ve had out in ages definitely recommend
Large pub with a mixture of locals and passers-by friendly and happy staff
One of the most beautiful medieval looking pubs Ive ever been. I lived in Catford 22 years and Ive never come in for a meal. Me and my boyfriend had the vegan roast.... Really really good, potatoes were lovely and the vegs were beautifully cooked. That gravy was to die for. Only thing wrong was the size of the Wellington... A bit small for £13.I loved the fact that the owner and chef came to the tables to say hi and check on the food.Definately coming for a meal more often from now on ♥️
At the time I visited the pub. It was very quite. Not a problem. Its may have been the wrong day and time of the week.
What a friendly owner Karl & staff named Dotty, popped in on the Way out so good we came back later. Would definately go back for their Ska Music night on a Date nite soon
Decent all-rounder with friendly staff, but Im baffled as to why they let people dump cars in their car park for literally years! A good impression starts from the outside..
Great place - good prices and excellent staff! Will check out the food next time! Cheers!
Liked it. Very friendly vibe and great decor. Menu looks good too, didnt get a chance to try it but there is a specific vegan section.
Really not good. Beer was ropey.Bloke behind the ramp serving with dirty fingernails too. Rank.Shame. Was a nice spot years ago.
Lovely pub, really friendly and attentive staff, amazing food, and hands down THE best Sunday roast around.
London boozer. Bit ropey, bit of a wait for a pint, probably could do with a few more bar staff for a Saturday, otherwise nice enough.
My favourite local. Beautiful old building, amazing food (best Sunday roast in the areaand lovely staff.
Best customer service!! They even changed, well updated my meal foe me because of an allergy. Nice people xx
Always friendly service in here. Had food from Daves kitchen - delicious wings, fries and pickles. Everyones portions were more than generous. Great little outdoor terrace at the back, events throughout the year and a cosy fireplace in winter.
Pub was ok and staff too go and try it for your self
The best Sunday roasts ever, the pork belly & crackling is really something else! I’m so lucky to have such a great place as my local - highly recommend
It was raining and I decided to pop in after a wet walk greeted by an enthusiastic barman, very friendly and helpful as was his female colleague who appeared after. My visit though was the day before restrictions are being lifted.I hope to see this place busier next time.
This place has upped its game since the last time I visited. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Prices were acceptable unlike some pubs that forget theyre in SE6
Bank Holiday meet up with friends - to be honest we didnt have a lot of choice as needed somewhere convenient for all. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the roast. I had pork belly. Could only fault the crackling (burnt and not crispyand the presentation a little. The carrots and roast pots (with extras from the chefwere the highlights on the plate as was the gravy - plenty and it was tasty. Good prompt service to the fairly small terrace. A couple of us had trouble with the app but I thought it worked well. Also we werent pressured for time - like the good old days!
First Sunday Roast with new chefs. Whatever theyre doing they are doing it right! Absolutely amazing traditional Sunday roast. I had an incredible and tender lamb shank in a pool of delicious gravy. Also, the whole serving team was incredibly attentive and friendly. Thank you so much!
Staff have always been nice inside the pub and beers have been great. Unfortunately I will never be returning (it’s my local for watching football & cricketdue to the ‘doorman’s’ absolutely awful attitude towards me as a lone person trying to enter the pub at 10pm. The people hired as doormen can really tarnish a pubs reputation with how they act.
Just returned from a late lunch here. Its a nice spot. Had the loded Jerk fries which were all right - could have done with a little more chicken. Mum had the falafel wrap which was tasty. Staff are lovely - well deffo be coming back.
Great selection of drinks, had a gluten free menu for drinks too. Does cocktail deals at certain times. A few different screens dotted about showing sports and a pool table. Prices are very reasonable and lots of seating. Close to the station which is handy and close to the centre. Look out for the food specials too if nothing on the menu jumps out at you. Food menu is your pub favourites with a few others thrown in. Recommended.
Visiting relatives from Australia introduced us to this gem of a pub. My relatives found the welcome there warm and inviting. We had a fabulous family gathering to wish them Bon voyage. Would highly recommend this pub. Food is great too
Spent Christmas Eve at the Tavern with family. Meal was tasty, plentiful and good quality. Ambience was relaxed and chilled. Staff were friendly and very hard working. Will be heading back soon!
Warm inviting atmosphere with friendly staff (chef checked how our food was). Great prices for food and drink although the menus (food/drinkisnt as vast as other places. Worth a visit for a quick drink get together. Food is average but wont disappoint.
Fantastic venue, we came here yesterday for a friends meet up. We all loved the friendly atmosphere, the waiter was very attentive and we got serviced in no time.Food was good, reasonably priced and very large portions!Live sports was playing on the tv, but the football supporters were very nice it adds to the warm atmosphere. The seating area were spacious, because two of my friends had child buggy and it easy to move around. The wait on food was a little long, but this may be due to how popular this place its!Its worth the wait. All in all, we all had a fantastic time.
Great pub. Lovely food and waitress service and its one pub chain that has managed to avoid homogenising the clientele.Local drinkers are comfortable and happy at the bar and theres a nice dining area for those who want to have the restaurant experience. They get the balance just right.Really cool balcony and the pub is right next to the station with bus stop outside, so it couldnt be easier to get there. Will return!
Dont go here often, and I think I caught it on an uncharacteristically poor night. The first three beers I tried were off, and the lad behind the bar didnt seem that concerned, though they were eventually removed.I had a slightly disappointing veggie special (mushroom tart), but my friends had steak and salad which they enjoyed. We shared a good cheese board whilst listening to a slightly shambolic guitar and vocal duo at the other end of the pub (open mic?), which was at an ok volume. The restaurant staff were friendly and the place still has a pleasant retro atmosphere, but I prefer the Constitutional.
This was a bit hit and miss. There was a good mix of people, the staff were friendly, the prices were OK. My Vege Wellington was a bit of a let down, it was icy cold in parts, yuk. When I mentioned that this was the case the waitress deducted my meal from our bill.Despite, this problem Id give them another chance. The kitchen is under new management, and Im in a forgiving mood
Great space. Sports with a very respectable crowd. Not what a lot of people would expect going into a bar that plays the big sports.
Great place if theres a crowd of you as very spacious. However, drinks and food overpriced. Never seen so many plates with uneaten food on different tables. Real shame as they charge £11 for a chicken burger with either salad or fries - not both! Salad was a lettuce leaf or shredded cardboard for fries. Wouldnt mind paying for good quality food but this was disappointing. Toilets are a disgrace so dont sit by them either as youll get an organic smell wafting over! This place could be so much better and I doubt if well be back. What a shame.
Friendly place. Good choice of wines and beers and the odd seasonal cocktail. They have a lot of stuff going on, pub quizzes, etc, and show most big football games on a few big screens. Youll pay about £4.20 for a keg pint or a fiver for a posh cask one.Lots of room in here if youre with a big group. The beer mats reference Labours 2017 election campaign so you cant really argue with that.
Popped in a few times to try different items on the menu. Each time was not disappointed. Theyve done an amazing job since reopening. The foods superb.. Service is friendly and prompt; and the general layout and ambience is inviting. Would I recommend this joint? Hell yes!
Its amazing the work they have done on the new Catford Bridge Tavern after the fire. Definitely worth the wait. The interior still smells a bit like paint and new furniture but nothing that will bother your stay there. The staff are fantastic and the food delicious. Cant wait to go back and try the beer garden on a sunny day as it was a bit chilly and cloudy during my last visit.
The staff seem very nice and friendly but the company that does the food also provides school meals and its fair to say that the food is a lot like a school meal. Fair enough if youre paying school meal prices but customers arent. Ale selection isnt up to much and one of them was on the turn when I visited. The decor is ok but a little bland. They should really entice the chef from the Catford Constitutional.
Super friendly staff. Nice selection of drinks. Pleasant inside and outside spaces.
Been in here a few times now, but today was the first time for food. Had the dry aged beef burger with truffle mayo (picturedand I have to say, it was really tasty. Cooked medium rare, and on a fresh bun. The fries were also great. Theres some good beers on tap here, enough to satisfy those that like craft beers. Theres also a lot of space, so theres a good chance of getting a table. Fantastic addition to Catford.
