Calle Molina Lario, 9, 29015 Málaga, Spain, Marbella
Iconic national landmark with a 16th-century baroque facade & ornate choir stalls, plus a museum.
Incredible cathedral, it is an enormous space with the most ornate chapels as well as a fantastic architecture. Well worth the entry price. Book online to avoid the queue although you may want to get your tickets printed by your hotel as they prefer paper. A must see in Malaga.
This was an amazing Cathedral - different to anything I’ve ever seen. However, there is very poor signage and customer service at the entrance - due to the signs not being in English I requested a ticket assuming it included access to the roof as well. The staff did not ask me if I wanted access to the roof. I then did the tour of the church and waited for 20 minutes for the midday entry to the roof only to find out it was a separate ticket - you need to go back to the main ticket queue to buy. Except you have to book in for the session on every hour, which were already full. Very disappointed I didn’t get to see the roof - definitely ask for this to be included when you buy the ticket! As the staff won’t help you or provide assistance
Breathtaking - such opulence in stark contrast with the beggars outside...
A beautiful cathedral in the centre of the old town. You may be better pre-booking tickets to avoid the queues. There is no lift, but 200 steps to the rooftop. A must see visit regardless of your religion.
Amazing Cathedral, from an architectural perspective its overwhelming too see what they managed to build.
Absolutely stunning cathedral, unfortunately suffering bit from sandstone erosion on some of the statues .The interior is gorgeous and full of stunning antiquities. Depending on the time you arrive there may be a wait so would advise booking in advance and avoid the queues . Recommended using the audio guides to get the most.of the video visit
Worth a visit. Ive visited many cathedrals in several counties and a couple of continents now, never seen one with this floor layout. Theres some history behind the building that explains why its so different. Theres an incredible amount of art on display inside - more paintings and some wood sculptures (which are incredibly realistic.)
A typical church built during the 15th century Reconquista. Unlike the cathedral in Cordoba, you wont see original Arabian elements in Málaga. After conquering the city, the Catholic rulers decided to destroy the mosque and commissioned the construction of a new Christian temple to start. I consider the entrance to the Department for 9 euro an unnecessary expense. There are more beautiful churches in Andalusia🤷♀️
Visited as a last minute idea, but would recommend as a must on visiting malaga. Well worth paying the extra for the roof access (which is at pre determined time slotsand be warned nearly 200 steps to the top.....but worth everyone
Full of arts and history, Clean and €9 to get in to the cathedral and museum,
Glorious cathedral and if you can manage the 200 steps to the rooftop you get spectacular views if Malaga which is a lovely city.
Honestly, I think the cathedral is more impressive from the outside. Inside I didn’t find it anything special apart from the roof. The art is not great, but the organ is impressive. However, definitely add the roof tour into your visit (many stepsand it makes the trip worthwhile. €12 (concession ticketfor both.
We took a mid day tour with the rooftop. Really fascinating work if you admire cathedrals and architecture. The roof top was worth the hike up. The various bells in the courtyard were interesting
Nice architecture and not TOO expensive entrance fee. Unfortunately the roof part was not open when we were there, and that made the tour a little short in my opinion, but i bet that would be at least another star in this review if it had been open too. 😏
Little information, given at the entrance. Perhaps they assume we know what there is to see. But alas, they do sell you extactly what you ask for,e.g. entrance to the cathedral. No mention of audio guide, let alone an acces ticket to the roof, as an extra. So we admired all the antiquities all and went through to the gift shop. On exting this there is a small area with old bell hanging brackets and a sign. Saying wait here for the roof top trip. Do of course we weave our way back to gift shop, ask and sure enough we have to go out to the front of the cathedral to buy tickets firvthe roof trip. This was worth the extra 4 euros each. Extensive views of across the city, the port, the Alcazaba and Castle above. As interesting whilst standing on the roof walkways, was an interesting view of the domes of the cathedral and showing some deterioration bit fascinating.
Very detailed cathedral with a cool guide in many languages. They use a lot of jargon, so that can be a little distracting or even disruptive. They do give in depth information about the history of the artists as well as the spiritual meaning of the artists. Would recommend the tour!
Beautiful grand Cathedral. Very ornate and peaceful. You can sit on a bench and just take your surroundings in awe. It does cost to see the cathedral and there is also an option to go up the bell tower. I only wanted entry to the chapel as we did not have time to wait for the next tower, but man charged us extra for it anyway which I was a little annoyed at.. but we just ended up giving our tickets to someone else. Definitely worth a visit.
Wow what can we say by far the best cathedral weve been inside spent hr looking around got bats flying high up inside
La Manquita - popularly called as a one armed lady - and you will spot why this cathedral is called so. Its a massive and as beautiful from the inside as unique looking from the outside. Add in the 300+ days of sunny weather in Malaga and you will relish the view and get stunning pictures.Do visit the roof of the church - 360 degree views of the city.A must visit if youre in Malaga.
Nice architectural design and also worthy to hear the audio guide. Do ask for the terrace visit, the sights are beautiful. There are also discounts for students and 🇪🇺EU citizens or residents.
Beautiful cathedral in central old town Malaga. Was unable to see inside due to mass and restricted public access hours but really enjoyed walking around. I would definitely recommend stopping here if you have time!
Didnt get in but it was nice to pass by
beautiful city, good to visit. Very clean, nice historic buildings.
Our first visit to the malaga cathedral it was amazingSuch a beautiful church
Great art work. Es impresionante. I did not walk on cubiertas because it was too hot outside but its definitely a must in Málaga wood work at chorous are is really good.
Pretty cathedral, beautiful glass paintings and art. Very big and central
Stunning cathedral, superb architecture
Must visit when in Malaga. Very impressive. Also get ticket to visit the roof as you will see entire city from above.
It costs €6 to enter, this is the cheapest entry cost. Magnificent to see the inside but disappointed at the entry cost. The church have enough funds worldwide to subsidise this. The audio guide is quite dull.
It is a pretty cathedral with lots of imposing artwork. I found the two organs to be especially impressive. However I am not a fan of having to pay in order to visit a church, hence only 3/5 stars.
🇨🇦 review here. Happened by this Cathedral and there was no line so I went in not even knowing what it was. WOW what a place. They have an absolutely excellent audio guide for free (with wifion your phone. Great explanations. Lots of places to sit while listening. It wasn’t busy so there was lots of space when I was there on a Wednesday midday. I recommend it for the low entry fee.
Ive never seen a cathedral quite like this one before. Its wonderful. The architecture is beautiful, theres so much art and adornments everywhere. On a Tuesday, we queued for about 10-15 minutes, nothing too bad. The entrance is paid, but there are many reduced ticket options. The cathedral entrance fee for students is 4€ and if you want to go see the tower as well, thats 7€ in total. You can pay with a credit card there. I highly recommend bringing your phone and earphones, as you are provided with a QR code for an audio guide that you can listen to on your phone. Its worth it going around with the audio guide which shares a lot of interesting information about the cathedral. Absolutely worth a visit when in Málaga.
Good experience when it was rainy and windy, respite from nature whilst in the cathedral. Would also recommend getting roof tickets as well to see another layer of the cathedral from up top, more so to experience the stair climb 😛
Great experience for the price, definitely worth visiting the rooftop (if you can handle 200 stepswith brilliant views. The audio tour was fascinating
Impressive cathedral and the views of Malaga from the rooftop were incredible. Well worth the €10 a head price for the cathedral and rooftop tour.
Being Roman Catholic, it was sad to see that the cathedral has been converted to a museum.Entrance fee of €10 was not too bad to help run the church. Tour guide to the tower? Useless people, not enthusiastic to their job. Not welcoming at all and no interactions. They just bring you upstairs with no liveliness. Jobsworth.Would I recommend the visit? Definitely!
Nice historical catedral, beautiful roofpart with amazing 360 degree view of city and ocean. It has a 200 stair climb up with narrow spiral staicase.
This cathedral is amazing from inside and outside, even though personally im not a fan of churches and architecture but this place looked beautiful.
Awesome cathedral in the middle of Malagas old town. Mix of styles as it was build in 200 years.Build with only one tower, from two planned. Perfect preserved interior. Possibility to go for roof walk. Very good audio guide. One of must visits in Malaga.
Very impressive architecture and very good audio experience. The Cathedral of Málaga is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Málaga in Andalusia in southern Spain. It is in the Renaissance architectural tradition. The cathedral is located within the limits defined by a now missing portion of the medieval Moorish walls, the remains of which surround the nearby Alcazaba and the Castle of Gibralfaro. It was constructed between 1528 and 1782, following the plans drawn by Diego de Siloe; its interior is also in Renaissance style.
Malaga Cathedral is absolutely stunning. Its Roman Catholic and was Constructed between 1528-1782 in the Renaissance architectural tradition and the interior in Renaissance style. Located close to the Alcazaba and Castle of Gibralfaro.Entry to the Cathedral is €6 or €10 if you want access to the rooftop. The stain glass windows have been beautifully constructed with various art works displayed around the Cathedral. I highly recommend visiting this amazing Cathedral.
This was a fabulous place. The architecture of the building outside is amazing, especially as the place remains unfinished. The real splendour is when you visit inside. The Cathedral inside is better than outside. If you come to Malaga, visit the cathedral.
A must to see if you are in Málaga. The cathedral is impressive and worth the visit. It cost 6€ to enter and 10€ for a combined ticket with its roof. The cathedral also has a museum and WC in it.
Wow. What an amazing atmosphere and experience. Friendly family gatherings. THE place to be before Christmas to get into the Christmas spirit. The light display is phenomenal. Definitely head there with the family or friends for a truly spectacular display.
Impressive go this cathedral. I still hate paying to enter a church but it does need constant restoration. Beautiful to wander around and its not that busy
The hallmark of Spanish Malaga is the impressive Catholic cathedral in the center of the old city. And the rooftop tour is definitely worths a visit! An unrealistically beautiful structure with a million smallest ingenious details 🤯The cathedral is also called the "one-armed lady" because of the unfinished tower. To enjoy the architectural patterns in all their glory, I recommend heading here after sunset.Spectacular views of the city, sea, port, mountains open from the rooftop of the cathedral! Wow Wow wow! All in one!And as a bonus, you can look inside the cathedral for free. The usual visit to the cathedral isnt free. The entrance ticket for the rooftop tour costs about 6 euros + -, duration 30-40 minutes.
Beautiful Cathedral. We paid for the roof top tour too which is every hour but 200 steps to climb. Well worth the views if you can do it.
Beautiful cathedral. The space is very well organised and there is quite a lot (painting, sculptures, architectural detailsto see in it
Beautiful place! We took the tickets including the rooftops and where we had a lot of time to properly enjoy the views. Keep in mind the rooftop tour is guided and only once per hour. The interior of the cathedral is bautiful and well kept.
It is one of the most emblematic sites in the city. Its locals call her "La Manquita" because its unfinished tower. You can see it from almost anywhere in the town of Malaga. You can get there easily because the main streets are connected to it.
