Lovely fish and chips , staff friendly and nice atmosphere

This is a takeaway restaurant. I called ahead of time as I wanted to request gluten free batter and I also wanted the vegan vish as Ive never had it before.Service was amazing. Food was ready on my arrival. Food was delightful. Im not from Bristol but im hoping we may have a branch in London as I would definitely eat there again. Thank you 😊

2 portions of fish & chips with some sauces should have been £20.50 (already pretty expensivebut card was charged £25.50.I luckily looked at the receipt & did the maths. The cashier went straight into defensive (a clear sign that somebodys telling porkies), saying that Id counted wrong: its the sauces - for £5?! & when I showed him the receipt then said he has big fingers & had accidentally pressed 5 instead of 0. I find that hard to believe, since 5 is two keys away from 0 on card machines. Also, it wasnt even busy so not like they were under pressure where a mistake like that could happen.They have some renovations going on at the moment, and it being end of summer, it wouldnt be a stretch to think theyre dealing with some financial challenges, although thats pure speculation on my part.The cashier eventually gave me a £5 from the till, but it marred the whole experience, and I wont be going back there or recommending to anyone. Fish & chips were okay but nothing special; would recommend going somewhere cheaper.

Classic fish n chips. Decent portion sizes - large cod was indeed large and came with a good sized portion of chips. Wasnt hungry after. -1 star for use of palm oil.

The size of the cod was ridiculously small, plus the batter tasted horrible and rancid (probably really really old oil). The chips had no salt and vinegar seasoning and they were really mushy. Both my partner and I were very disappointed, and the meal ended up in the bin. Would not recommend whatsoever, especially for how pricy it was.

Amazing take away fish n chips & mushy peas, with a slice of lemon too. Perfectly crispy batter & chips, perfect amount of salt & vinegar. My daughter loved her Vish n chips with Seaweed and Samphire 10/10 for the polite, obliging service too.

Great service with large portions and some of the best fish and chips Ive had in Bristol. Atmosphere is really cozy, great for chilling with your buddies. Prices are quite low, given the portion size and food quality. Definitely a favourite of mine!

Paid £7 to get awful food poisoning from here. Not happy. Warning people to avoid unless you want to be glued to your toilet for a few hours.

Ordered via Deliveroo - best vegan fish Ive ever had by miles. Perhaps not as flavourful as real cod but the texture is spot on which is what I miss from real fish. Would highly recommend to all non-fish-eating peeps!

Friendly staff and nice be food is all it has going for it. I went back in today for a standard cod and chips and got charged £8.90. I can be get the exact same order elsewhere for around £6. The price is the biggest rip off Ive ever seen at a food outlet for takeaway.

Used to be my favorite seafood place in Bristol. I understand the need to have vegan options on the menu but why did the shrimps have to go 😭 they had the yummies shrimps 🥺 and now they are gone. But to be fair everything I’ve tried was great, never tried any of the vegan additions to the menu though.

By far the best Fish and chips Ive EVER had! And the closest vegan fish and chips to Unity diner we have in the south west.The chips were done to perfection, crisp with a subtle crunch on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, the batter for the banana blossom vegan fish was the right balance of sweet and salt, and the blossom itself was tender and moist, all dressed with not just salt and vinegar but nori seaweed, samphire and a lemon wedge, not just cooks but food artists!The charming owner and his lovely mother capture the warm welcoming and familiar character of Bristol with a friendliness you can expect from this great pro vegan city, a happy experience from order to last bite, thank you.

Amazing experience at catch22, customer service was fantastic, partner put so at ease by the whole gluten free anti contamination process (separate tongs/separate fryers etc). With gluten free condiments too! Thank you for a lovely meal and will definitely be going back next time we visit Bristol! A++++

The best Fish and Chips I have had, the team are spot on nothing is too much trouble for them. Curry sauce id delicious as well :they are open at the moment for takeaway or delivery through Deliveroo. Well worth every penny and would recommend 110%

If your in Bristol City Centre and fancy Fish and Chips. This is the best, absolutely delicious. There is a restaurant area, with a beautiful movie and sea theme decor. I have been here a number of times and on this occasion I had the grilled cod, with chips. Taste was sublime. The service is second to none. The prices are more than reasonable.I also saw a picture of Lou Ferrigno the hulk in the restaurant apparently he only eats here when hes in town.So if its good enough for Lou its good enough for me!

The restaurant has really nice ambiance. The staffs were very friendly. I had the fish & chips (friedand they were great. The prices were quite reasonable as well. The place is really hygienic. Takeouts would be cheaper than dining in. Regardless, the value they offer is pretty good.

Nice place to have a traditional fish and chips. There are two tipe of fish (cod and haddock, merluzzo in italiano). The chips and the onion rings are really really good! The only negative thing is the smell of fried...

The food here is delicious. The staff are friendly. The place is clean and has lots of room to sit in. Their vegan menu is brilliant as far as chip shops go. Their vegan fish is a good attempt and I will keep occasionally trying it in hopes it gets more fish like but no other standard chip shop has even attempted it so they are miles ahead.

We came for fish and chips lunch, tried both haddock and cod and absolutely loved it. Exceptional service and according to my family the best f&c they had in uk :)

This place is the nuts. Really fancied some proper chips and this place delivered (metaphorically). Around £6 for a lunch meal, I went for Jumbo sausage, curry sauce and chips. It was delicious.The staff were really busy as this seems a popular place but they were very friendly and were cooking the food as quickly as possible.I had a take out but seating is available.I would recommend and I will for sure be going back there again.

Very cute and cozy. I had the calamari and it was very delicious! A bit more in the expensive side (~9£ a mealbut very worth it! Loved the atmosphere and service was great!

Freshly cooked food, one of the best cod in Bristol. Friendly and helpful staff. Due to being located within the city centre, parking is a issue though.

This isnt so much a Restaurant, more a Chip shop with seats. Admittedly its a bit trendy with some fancy lighting but it isnta Restaurant where you would want to indulge over a bottle of wine and a three course meal. In fact, Im not sure there was a desert menu at all.This was more like a Fish and Chip shop on the end of Weston Pier, it was brightly lit, with hard metal seating and a menu that lacked anything other than the basics.The menu offered a small selection of Fish including Cod, Haddock, Plaice and Sole. Either fried in batter or tossed in a blend of Herbs and Spices.“How hot can you go” asked the Menu offering a choice of no heat, mild or Hot.But what was it they were offering to spice up?Surely no one would want their fish tossed in Lemon and Herb dressing, Extra Hot?This could only relate to the Cajun Mix which was academic as they had run out anyway.What surprised me was their boast that all the fried food is cooked in Sustainable Palm Oil.Dont they cut down Virgin Rain Forrest to make way for Palm Oil plantations?So, my friend chose Cod in Lemon and Herb, which looked fresh, was well cooked and nicely presented and was probably the best choice on the menu.My Partner, Whole Tail Scottish Scampi (£8.95was a selection of over cooked balls and a portion of chips whilst my mate went for Cod Chips and Mushy Peas (£9.95which was perfectly adequate but we have a chippie in the Village that serves a much bigger portion for half the price.I decided to buck the trend and went for something on the Dog House Menu.I wanted to be the first to try these delicious Hot Dogs from Bristols new Hot Dog Company, The Dog House, exclusively at Catch 22.I went for the Bull Dog (£7.45which was advertised as A Breakfast Dog Served with Bacon Beans and a Fried egg Plus Chips loaded with Jalapeños.What I got was a hot dog sausage in a white roll, covered in Baked beans with some chopped bacon on top, served in a plastic basket. On the side were a portion of reasonably well cooked chips in yet another plastic basket. My bread roll turned out to be a flattened burger bun.Ive had better from the burger vans at Ashton Gate.The Chips werent smothered in Jalapeños either but were well cooked and it was a good size portion.Drinks too were disappointing.The girls had a bottle of white wine at £13.95 a bottle and there were no complaints whilst Steve was very excited about trying the Bristol Draught Cider.Sadly when it came it wasnt Bristol Draught Cider at all.In fact, it came in a bottle.When we asked why they had served a different Cider to the one we ordered they said they “didnt do Draught Cider.” but confirmed it was still the same price.It didnt take us long to finish our meals and we paid the bill without leaving a tip even though the server was pleasant and friendly but she really didnt have any idea about the product she was promoting.In summary.If you want a portion of fish and chips this place fits the bill.If you want to eat your Fish and chips sat down, this place fits the bill.But if you want to go out for an evening with Friends and enjoy a meal and some good wine in a nice environment, forget it.Unless you really do want the smell of chip fat on your clothing, stay well away.

Great atmosphere! Lovely beer and cider. Pies and pizzas are generally good. Bit crowded some times but people is nice.

Excellent fish and chips, very tasty and with excellent service. The milkshake is also really good! In my opinion the standard option is already a lot of food!
