Best fish and chips we have had for a long time. Generous portions and crumbed gurnard lovely! Highly recommend with friendly service.

Big menu. They didnt have all options from the menu but surely just means theyre popular. Food was good and despite the que our orders came out quickly.

After 10 days on the road this was a great change from restaurant meals. We dont do McDonalds etc, This was an excellent meal to enjoy with a beer at our motel.

Not bad, nothing to rave about really. Nice options for the misses with the Keto Chicken burger, I decided to treat myself with the snapper, overcooked and dry unfortunately. Chips were ok. Dont mind paying a bit extra if the foods taken care of, not in this case.

Excellent fish and chip shop for the price we paid, the best Ive ever had personally in my opinion. Excellent customer service and top quality food and produce. Cant get better really, everyone should buy here.

Best Chips in Taupo.Crispy on outside, fluffy on the inside.No sogginess whatsoever!A sign of good high cooking temperature, fresh oil, and a separate vat for potatoes.Everything else on the menu is great too.But the chips are addictive!

Amazing food bit on the expensive side but it was well worth it

Great fish and chips, unless your Gluten free. They don’t cater for celiac, however they do gluten free. The gluten free fish batter made the fish almost inedible. The non gluten free fish was great though, same with the chips too.

Tasty food and friendly service. There was a small mixup with our order, as it was missing a burger. We didn’t notice it until we got back to our motel, however before we could think to call, they phoned me (had ordered online), and personally delivered it promptly.Would highly recommend.

Fantastic little takeaway place!We saw that this restaurant does not discriminate so decided to try it out.The ladies there were really lovely and gave us a free cheese pizza sample! Little did they know, it was actually my birthday and they really made my day!The food was really delicious. Fries and potato fritters were crispy and cooked to perfection, nice meaty fish with tasty batter, super cheesy beef and egg burger and the cheese pizza was phenomenal!!Thank you so much for being awesome.

Last night I brought fish and chips at Catch 22, and not the schnapper, just hoki. Im 70 years old, so Ive had a few fish and chip meals all over NZ, but hey I can honestly say I tasted the very very best I have ever tasted, so here I am back at Catch 22 the following night, and have just placed my order, two nights in a row and thats a first ever for me. The Chefs were a young Maori girl and boy, and I say Chefs because thats how good they are, thanks very much.🐟😜 Cheers Wayne

Worst fish and chips weve had in a long time. Food was under cooked, hot dogs were disgusting the kids wouldnt eat them so we gave them both to the dog. Onion rings were under cooked. Chips were undercooked and their "scoop" of chips fitted into two hands (yes we tested it). Usually a scoop is enough to share around the 4 of us and have leftovers. Pineapple rings were *tiny*. Everything was cold, despite giving a time frame for pickup. Most tell-tale sign this place wasnt good... it was 6:30pm on a Saturday and we were the only customers; didnt know that when we rang the order through though. Afterwards food didnt sit well at all; we felt ill after eating.

Was recommended by some locals, to try the fish and chips here. Unfortunately our first attempt never went down great batter was thicker than the fish so we contacted them and they gave us a complimentary meal, which was well below par as ypu can see cheese was not melted and we waited 30min to get cold food. Wont recommend going there over busy periods.

We have dined from here infrequently over the last few years and have been happy with the meal. We were very disappointed with our meal that was costly for what we received, the terakihi was dry and chips were soggy and few and far between. No excuse even over the New Year period

The fish was awesome and the chips, but I wanted a mussel fritter and a hot dog. But no they dont sell them.... Sad.... Great place for a feed an a cold drink. We ate our lunch at the water fall man I cant remember its name.. Huka falls I think. Stop in to try the fish and chips. Big thick fillets of fish to.

I have now ordered a couple of times and am sure to remain loyal. I make my orders online which is easy and efficient and always on time for pick up. Being blessed to being raised for the most part on tangaroa I am quite fussy when it comes to kaimoana so for me catch 22 is of reka quality and service. Friendly service. Great burgers and loaded wedges. We also got a seafood boil, I think it was worth the $50 we paid. I would call catch 22 more of a "boutique" fish n chip shop. Good food but a bit pricey.

Hi Team at catch 22 Spa Road in Taupo.... I ordered one of the best chicken burgers from a fish and chip store when purchasing one at Catch 22 two nights ago.... The chicken was real chicken breast and was cooked beautifully, the young lady who took my order was polite and very well organised and relaxed considering by the looks of things, she was the only staff onsite. Catch 22 had all the correct signs and safety precautions onsite with correct hygiene facilitys. The price was right and reasonable. I also ordered some wedges which did not come with any cheese on top nor did i have any sourcream which was a major let down for the reasons i only awarded your store a total of 3 stars instead of 4 which i really wanted to be able to award. Well done to the team at Catch 22 and keep up the excellent work.

Best snapper ive had, best chips perfect, excellent spring roll, decor on point, great staff. All in all best fish and chip shop by far, and ive been around many places in NZ

An actual fish and chip shop that has chips cooked perfectly and decent size pieces of fish. Non greasy. A little bit on the pricey side but made up by the quality of the products served

VERY DISAPPOINTED. The website needs updating as the menu has changed and it seems to be under new management? We spent a lot of money on our kai and couldnt eat any of it. It was inedible. All the chips were soggy and greasy (3 types). The cheese on the cheesy weeseys wasnt even melted. The batter on the crabsticks didnt cover the crabsticks. The hoki, cod and muscles tasted stale and were overcooked. The meat in all 3 burgers was RAW and the home made tartare and aioli sauce didnt taste like tartare and aioli sauce. I dont know what that was. Tried to call to give feedback and kept getting the engaged dial tone. According to their website they were closed. If your looking for good fresh tasty fish n chips, this is NOT the place to go. If I could give no stars I would.Update. I managed to get a hold of the owner who was rightly appalled. A refund is being processed and assurance was given that these concerns will be followed up. Great outcome.

Very small portions halfscoop about 20 chips. Staff didnt know what was in stock as ordered and payed for fish for them to come out and say they didnt have also happend to 3 other customers on the same night with other items. Dont know how it has award winning on the doors. They should probaly take those signs down.

Traditional means not too greasy fish and chips. Yummy. Worth a visit

Great fish and chips , well cooked and crisp without too much oil. Good stop off in Taupo before or after hot pool swim. Seating in outdoor area and plenty of parking

Had heard this place was nice so tried it twice unfortunately, fish was awful, not fresh, and was very thin. Chips were nice. Burger was over seasoned, no lettuce or coleslaw, way too much sauce. Would not return.

YUM! I had the keto fish burger which was juicy, flavorful, and very substantial! I see another review saying their keto-fish burger was dry.. dunno if theyve listened or there’s a different cook, but mine was dripping in delicious tartar sauce and had delectable caramelized onions too! Can’t recommend it enough. Plus, very friendly service and amazing fries :)

These guys have delicious food! Their chips are always yum and I recommend trying the onion rings and kumara chips. The staff here are all great. Edit: One year later and this all still applies! My new fav is their amazing fried bread. Highly recommended if you can get it, its so good it sells out fast!

Great friendly service, clean tidy shop. Fresh and delicious food - Chicken Burger, Fish, and some of the nicest chips weve had for a while. Certainly will be back to try out other items on the menu.

The worst take aways we ever had in Taupo.Nobody ate their fish absolute disgusting went straight to bin, chips was average and sausage not nice at all.They are way over priced sorry you wont see me again.

Battered fish really nice and fresh, chips were nice but a little greasy for our taste. Lovely outdoor seating area, spotlessly clean.

Went here Friday night. We ordered burgers,hot dogs and chips. The burgers and chips were nice. My kids ate the hotdogs and ended up getting I called the place to let them know and they were extremely rude to me on the phone, will never go back again.

Went there today ordered some fish burgers and chips fish was hoki 🤮. Was so dry smelt weird wasnt nice and soft was rough feeling and discoloured. Im pregnant so you better hope you dont make me sick!DO NOT GO HERE HOW GROSS!so disappointed.

Stopped by for a quick bite after a long wet drive to Taupo. Egg Burger and chips to go.Really enjoyed the meal nicely cooked beef pattie with tasty sauce. Took a bit longer than expected and from conversation in the kitchen some staff sounded a bit inexperienced. Will come again and try the fish

Best fish and chips I have ever tasted, definitely be back for sure , and the staff were so friendly and welcoming, we had the nuggets and omg REAL CHICKEN and Real meat patties in the burgers just like the ones you make at home 5***** from us nice to see a upmarket fish n chip shop in Taupo

Id heard some good comments about this place sadly it didnt measure up. Very lucky to get 1 star. The fried bread was very hard and so overcooked, not far off when I said theyd pass as rocks. Chicken burger was passable, just. Fish was overcooked tho ok in size. Chips were very soggy and crab sticks undercooked. First and last time going there...just sad.

Great fish n chips, scallops were great, you get what you pay for, batters quite rich, we definitely over ordered.

Best fish & chips we have had in a very long time. Come to think of it, it would be the best fish & chips we have had. Their burgers could give a gourmet burger est a run for its money, quality fish & chicken that was insanely affordable. Everything was cooked to perfection. Looking forward to our next visit to Taupo.

Has lots of good reviews which is why we went there. Oh my goodness me....what a disappointment. 2 toasted sandwiches with an hour wait time! True! One hour for the same. Then got home...opened the sandwich, onion burnt and got wholemeal bread when we were not asked if we wanted wholemeal. Saturday night arrived 6.10pm.....got sandwiches at 7.15pm and they were not the nicest toasted sandwiches :( Wont go back!

Best Fish and Chips weve had since returning to New Zealand last year. We read the reviews and glad we ignored a few minor comments and experienced this for ourselves. The young lady working was amazing, friendly, tentative and her cooking was outstanding. We had Gurnard, Snapper, Scallops and Mussels with chips!!! Stunning
