Best curry I’ve had in New Zealand, probably best since I was last in India. Excellent!

We had party in this restaurant and the food wass not really good and even the hospitality was bad and waiting for long hour for our food and when we said that some food had more salts in some recipes and they didn’t accept about anything.

I got sick both times i visited there dont go there they had old food

The food was delicious and more authentic than most of the Indian restaurants Ive been to. The service was fast and very friendly. The venue is in need of a tidy up and the bathroom was very dirty. Unfortunately, as much as I enjoyed my food I was very sick a few hours later. Upon closer look at the menu my husband spotted prawns. As I am very allergic to them, I can only guess that there was cross contamination with my food. I would like to encourage the owners to make the necessary improvements because really, Id love to give the restaurant a 10 out of 10.

Have ordered three times and something has gone wrong every time. The first time, they didn’t follow the order. The second time, they didn’t start making it until 20 minutes after it was meant to be delivered. The third time, I called 15 minutes after it was meant to be delivered and they hadn’t started making it yet. When it was delivered, they sent a drink that we hadn’t ordered, only sent two naan instead of three and got the spice levels wrong in all of the curry. Food is tasty but only if you’re interested in not receiving it when you should and when you do, no receiving what you ordered

Meh, first time there as our usual Indian Restaurant now closes for Mon/Tues Lunches, got a Butter Chicken Combo, asked for Medium Hot and there was zero taste to it at all & received the classic lots of sauce which was quite watery and hardly any chicken (6 very small pieces), the naan was like rubber and again zero taste, gave it a shot but not one well be returning to.

We got there quite late travelling from another city, inspite of closing hours they packed us tasty takeaways. Thanks so much guys for feeding our hungry tummys :God bless!!!

Butter chicken sauce and chicken was really yummy and there was lots of chicken but my partner had the beef vindaloo and there was only about 7 pieces of beef in it which was rather disappointing. However the cheesy garlic naan was very good

I have always enjoyed Indian cuisine and Castle 91 has never disappointed me in the 4 years I’ve been eating there. The house curry is very good and can highly recommend.

Great food loved it, the best for me was the chicken 65 and soybean chaamp and chefs special chicken was worth eating. 🤩👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻Really enjoyed the food and the drinks as well, Mrs. ordered the RED FORT which was awesome and tasted great, the service was great, friendly staff we will be back for sure.

Today I was get Parandhas from here. I really appreciate to chef and their food It was really imagining. Taste and spices really according to the demand. Thank you giving to us food like our mom’s parandha

Hi Robinpreet i am regular to Castle 91 and i got shop opposite of this place if you dont pay your bills you are not gonna get services for free. you owe money to my shop as well. i was there last night when you entered without Mask they didnt allow you to enter and you are lying .we were sitting on other table. they told me that you havent paid for your food last time for takeaway.it is awkward and not acceptable in NZ.

Extremely poor service via uber eats. The order is usually late by 1 hour or so even when the restaurant is only 10-15 min away. I am sure they only start making your order if you bother to call them and find out whats going on. Has happened to me twice, I thought they would understand good service.

Lovely food. Always nice when you get hot plates for your main course.

Really had a hankering for some curry on this wet and windy day so ordered from Castle 91. Absolutely hit the spot and was so fresh and amazing. Delivery exactly on time too. Would give 6 stars if an option. Thanks team!

As soon as I sat down I remember why I dont like thisplace. The food is meh and the service is bad. Theres somany other places around, dont bother. Rude hostesses,pushy servers who leave you waiting. Bad, bad, bad Iwont be back.

Yesterday I was ripped off by castle 91 through Uber eats placed an order and paid for it but it never came called the restaurant for details around our food as Uber eats suggested, our food had already been sitting around in store for an hour waiting pick up and the guy refused to help us cancel our order we told him that we cant eat old food as its a safety hazard for me and asked for help to cancel he refused and came over to my house to deliver cold old butter chicken and soggy naan bread that we couldnt eat we looked at it said sorry and sent it back to the store with him and asked for the refund as that wasnt fair to receive such old and cold food (order placed a7:45pm, due 8:45pm latest, random guy arrives at 9:26pm). The man agreed then went back to the shop and lied that he completed our order have been ripped off by castle 91 twice now I high key dont recommend this place to anybody. The delivery driver was angry and rude because we were concerned about our food and so was the guy on the phone disgusting service. If you go through their reviews it doesnt take long to see how disgusting they are to their customers

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!! Id rather cook a Ready To Eat Curry at home.We were there around 12:30 pm on the 27th of December and everything we ordered was just a disaster.Chicken 65 - Looked nothing like chicken 65, looked more like a dry sweet and spicy chicken. Tasted not that bad but IT WAS NOT CHICKEN 65.Seekh Kebab - Dry, hard. Tasted like it was frozen, thawed and then just heated and served.Kadai Chicken/Beef - Since when did Kadai chicken/beef/paneer taste sweet. It was sweet and tangy and just very bland.Goat curry - While the curry itself tasted OK, when I bit into my third piece of Goat something seemed a bit off. I took another bite and immediately realised that this meat was off.Lassi - Weird tasting. We ordered three mango lassis and all three came out with a different colour, a different sweetness and not cold. Horrible and really putting off.Majority of dishes were just left 80% full because we couldnt dare to finish any.Most dishes were priced $20 and more. That is a decently priced menu. You get a decent curry at other Indian takeaways for $12-$15.Do not recommend this place at all.

The food and service from the staff member was very pleasant.

We ordered (takeawaya chilli chicken and chicken 65, got 2 chilli chicken. Disconnected the call when we tried to call. Really a bad experience and won’t recommend this place.

The food and service here is always 10/10. Hands down the best curry in town, and I love the community focus of the owners.

Goat curry was amazing. Drunken chicken was so nice, moist and tender and flavoursome. Note have as a starter rather then with mains as it becomes over shadowed with the stronger flavours. Naan were crisp rather then soft.

The restaurant was overbooked when we arrived with a large party being accommodated. We had booked through an external site, not directly through the restaurant. Despite the lack of space, the staff made a good effort to accommodate us and the food and service was excellent

We used to frequent this restaurant often, as well as have food delivered. Last night we ordered and picked up food ourselves. It was prepared in a timely manner, but sadly, the food was "less than satisfactory." Third time still unlucky lately. Butter chicken curry verrry sweet and watery. Rice was leftover from whenever and reheated, with water added to try to soften it up. So disappointing. Naan was crunchy. Just not the standard it used to be. Weve blown $300 over the past 3 times. This place used to be our go-to curry place. Now well just go to another.

Would give them zero for the food and rude customer service. Had really bad experience a year ago but thought I should give it a try this time, they must have improved their services but had a big disappointment. Never ordering from them again. They do not know the authentic taste of Indian food. Talk about the customer service, the girl there was responding our queries in a very rudely way. The owner should give some training to his staff in regards to providing the good customer service.

We used to love this place, but sadly its really gone downhill.Arrived for dinner to find NO Covid sign-in displayed anywhere in the restaurant (which I believe is a breach of the law). Asked where it was and we were met with total indifference.Service was very indifferent. Place was very cold ( we had to keep our down jackets on and we were still cold!and completely lacking in any ambience. Loud, intrusive music was playing.Food was pretty good, but we came for an evening out, not to eat takeaways served by bored, indifferent staff in a freezing barn. We wont come here any more, but rather give our custom to the lovely people at Royal Taste Indian up the road in Pyes Pa.

Bought curry with Naan bread just now curry was fine had Naan bread burnt so I called Back Restaurant and spoke to Manager he said it’s just a Normal So it’s just so called crispy Indian style NaanI feel these Naan they gave it to me were definitely cooked longer than normal time.Restaurant Manager Never admitted until I told him that I belong to Indian Restaurant background too.

The food at this restaurant is pretty great. But the naan is always a bit too crunchy for my level of chewing experience. And always end up with a wee crust wedged between one of my teeth and gums. But the curry and service is excellent!

I ordered a fish spread. Mix platter was ok but the crispy calamari was covered in not good spicy red sauce which then made the calamari soggy. Called in to try sort it and they said thats the way they do it. Soggy bad food literally throwing it I the bin. Yeah good one boys.

Since moving up from Wellington Ive been struggling to find a really good Indian Restaurant, until now. Every curry Ive gotten from here has been great and service has been happy and friendly. Would recommend to any friend.

Took us ages of many Indian restaurant tasting to finally find what we believe to be the best Butter Chicken in town. Very friendly staff and a nice comfortable atmosphere. We will always come back because of the excellent service and awesome taste of the food. Thank you Castle 91.

We have a delivery meal, it arrived piping hot and everything we ordered was so good. Amazing flavours, we had Butter Chicken and lamb sagwala, both curried were delicious. We had saffron rice also which was lovely also Will definitely order again

This restaurant presents authentic Indian food in the heart of tauranga. The staff are friendly and the food is exquisite. I cannot recommend this restaurant high enough. If you are visiting tauranga please make the effort to come here, you will not be disappointed.

Lovely Indian restaurant with good ambience. Food quality is really good but the service is little bit slow. You have plenty of parking spaces in front of the restaurant. Prices are bit high when compared to other Indian restaurants at Tauranga. But for the good food quality this can be affordable. Overall nice and good place to eat.

This is probably the best Indian i have had in a long time. Really fresh. The samosas were crispy and delicious. The kids butter chicken properly marinated instead of the sauce just poured over steamed chicken like most places. The staff were so lovely. The mango lassi so yum!!

This has got to be the best Indian food in Tauranga. Ive tried at least 5-6 other places and always been disappointed. I had the chicken korma and my husband had the butter chicken. Both were tasty and the rice and naan bread were both good as well. The staff were friendly and our food was ready promptly. Definitely try if youre looking for a good Indian place.

Great lunch deal $13 for a lunch portion curry and rice, naan bread, poppadom, and a drink. Butter Chicken tastes amazing and they also do a Butter Beef! Very friendly service and nice atmosphere.

Our first time eating here, but we will be back again. The food was excellent. The menu had lots of choice including many vegetarian options. The service was very good and the owners were keen to know whether the food was to our liking. They didnt just add chili to get extra heat, they added various spices which matched our taste buds.

What a great place. Such lovely helpful staff and amazing food. The best i have eaten since emigrating from the UK 7y ago. Highly recommend
