1 de Mayo 1230, Chancay LIMA 1, Peru, Huacho
Former castle now hosting 2 hotels, several restaurants & attractions such as live shows & museums.
It was cool to see it once. It was a bit busy on a Sunday but we had reservations so we walked right in.We stayed the night. The rooms are old and outdated. Our first room smelt like cigarettes and there was some mold on the wall. They had availability and switched us with no problem. The second room was better. Unfortunately when we returned to our room for the evening there was no water. We let the staff know but we were still without water at 11pm.I think this is a day trip from Lima as there isnt much else to do.
It was ok
Its a beautiful place but nothing s another language, my husband doesnt speak Spanish n i had to translate everything n the guide was talking as i was trying to translate n listen to him.
Nice
Was amazing.....
Very neat experience, lots to see and do
I didnt go in. I just looked at it. Looks fun for families. Bring money.
It was fun but too expensive, less proces will let us spend more in Castel.
The castle is beautiful. I loved the decorations. Bathrooms are clean. Staff is friendly. Theres even a hotel inside the castle where you can stay. Food is delicious. I highly recommend it ;)
Top top
Its a great tourist place. Its in front of the beach. There are also restaurants and swimming pools.Tickets: 25 soles adults
This have had improve a lot since last time I was there. I highly recommend it.
Its very beautiful 😍
Great
Wow where do I begin...this place was just way too amazing for words. I absolutely loved it. I want to go back already! So basically through every area is a theme throughout history with actors interacting with small groups on tours throughout. Some themes include Peru, Egypt, Camelot, Aztec, Babylon, Greece, Rome, and many many more. There are too many to really remember to be honest. My favorite was Egypt. And being able to see Anubis I was just in awe. I cant obviously ever go to the real Egypt so this will be the closest I can get for now ☺️The only major complaints I have are there is a TON of stairs...oh my gosh! I am unsure if we just missed where the elevators were to go back downstairs or if they were going for the "old castle" theme and there are none. Next time we go we are having my daughter either walk on her own or ride on our shoulders. Also we went to a beautiful restaurant and they had cats meandering around while we ate. It was kind of weird and Im not that into cats. Make sure at least they arent where your diners are eating at least please!Among all the attractions there you can also:*Swim: (they have a huge pool I think its 10 soles a person to get intake a swimming suit and change of clothes!*Shop: there are many artisan places to shop inside and souvenir shops as well. I love that about Peru, support the artisans and small business!*Eat: there are a few restaurants inside you can pay in the entrance to make a reservation. (People outside are too pushy and it freaked me out they practically swamped us in the car yelling at us with thier menu papers)*I think there is also a hotel. I would love to stay there.*Parking: its 10 soles a day total and they only take cash (just a heads up)You can also hold a hawk for 10 soles and take pictures with it. That was so cool and it was such a pretty bird too!Overall it was a great experience. I cant wait to go back!
Need more atractions , package to high we do not need use hotel . Please included more atrractions.
Good things first:+ Lots of variety+ Lots of fun+ Many things to take photos of+ Some animals+ Great view of the ocean+ Very interesting entertainmentDown sides:- Pool closed- A little too commercialized- Sometimes too crowded- Some very poor maintenance in some parts- Would be better if they hid their speaker devices in walls instead of having a huge chunky boombox with sound coming through it, in a setting intended to be historicalThe show with the dancers and magicians was one of the highlights for me. I also loved that I could take photos with some wild birds.
Was a really good experience I did enjoy all the journey
Too crowded.... Its became very comercial.... Money talks
The place is very beautiful and safe! 😃
Good place to share time in family
It is a nice place but there were too crowded and I couldnt enjoy because it seemed a procession of the lord of miracles.
Cool place. Some of it was under contruction but most the exhibits were still pretty cool. Huge potions of food..beware. Service was pretty good at hotel but our sink was leaking a lot.
Nice place to take day off . You can get amazing views
Great place to have fun with the family and friends. Good quality of the food and great staff.
Good place for entertainment, like a thematic park, pool, seaview. Parking lot. Guided tour every 10-15 minutes. Easy to do the visit with your own group. Full day and part-time packages including lunch.
We traveled from the United States of America to Lima, Peru. While here, we were told to go an hour north to see the Castillo de Chancay. In which we did. There is only one toll between here and there at 7.90 sols at the time of this review. Parking will cost about 10-15 sols and entry is 20 sols per adult and 10 sols for children 10 and younger. It has a water swimming pool, shops, live entertainment and restaurants here. My only suggestion is finish up the construction and put an ATM for foreigners who need to get money to buy items for sale. The food was marvelous and the view spectacular. They even have their own wine from this region.
A place if youre in the area should visit. Entertaining with friendly people, great food and awesome views to the ocean. Ill go back for sure when in the area.. I stay overnight and I enjoyed a lot, especially the wine 🍷 recommend 💯🤗😍
A very well kept theme park. North of chaotic Lima on the Pacific ocean. Family oriented. Lots of iconic replicas from around the world restaurants and games inside the Park. Entry ticket 20 Peruvian soles.
Its a nice castle, although a little cheesy with all the decorations and medieval shows, but I give them an "A" for effort. I would go back for the view, the wine and the fact that its only about 15 minutes from the best firewood pork chops, "Chancho al Palo," Ive ever had --> See "Fogon de Huaral" Restaurant
Love this place, good and big hotel with lots of entertainment
Its an okay place, its mesnt for local tourists, so they havent made a huge effort on it, the attractions look cheap, the shows are local, so the level is not the highest, just like the food, which can be gotten st much better prices and quality outside in the same city, but it does have certain appeal in its mediocrity, and though most things may ne cheap looking, the overall experience can be quite good, especially if you are in good company
It was a big place, the entrance includes a tourist guide. There is a museum. And a hotel. Lots of different things to see. Nice ocean view. I definitely recommend this place.
This a good place to get out of rutine, share with your friends, family and yourself...Your mind will go back a couple thousands of years!!!🤴
Great place to visit and know more about the castle, now with the hose of horror...
If you put first food and entertainment, you will enjoy it - not too authentic though, most of it replicas, but not bad.. Food is good, Cheapest way to enter is 20 soles each and expect at least 20 more for food. The place is private owned and some parts under (re)construction, but the attention for details is low due to poor Peruvian constructions skills ( I am now in a hotel room missing a little part of a wall...It is build initially about 100 years ago - not antic- but it should provide enough entertainment for 2 to 3 hours. Kids will love it! The outside city does not look safe ( nothing new for 🇵🇪but inside walls it is. It looks like the owners are involved and care.
It was a nice experience. Its a traditional castle with a touch of modernity and trendiness. There is a lot ot activities to do. A lot of places to go. Maybe you will be exhausted before you finish go down all the place, but anyways, whether you see evwrything which is in, or not you will feel good!. Hope you enjoy it!
Beautiful place,my grandkids enjoy a lot
Good place, but its crowded. Great business. The beach is funny.
Be aware you have to pay 15 soles just entrance fee. The place is great! A few restaurants pools and different kind of live events for kids
Super trippy tourist attraction - a Peruvian theme park vibe I was happy I checked out. For 3 soles you can take a mototaxi and.its 20 s. for entry - but the crazy sandcastle art and mix of themes - pirates, Greco-Roman history, colonial props, Game of Thrones to name a few - all mashed together is trippy and great. Wear sunscreen & like at any amusment park, eat ahead of time!
Nice place, museum, swimming pools, restaurants good food! even hotel
Beautiful place... Enjoy it.
Fun place. A little run down but verry nice.
Beautiful place, Just do not trust the sellers of offers in the entrance of the palace.
Amazing historical building ever to have a rest while remembering the old Peru
Its an interesting place where you can see many different information about the middle age, prehistory and history in Peru and around the world.
It was my short trip but We enjoyed too much!!
I liked it very much. The only thing I didnt like was variety of food, it was quite delicious, mostly pork though. The castle is about 60 km from Lima, less than 2 hours driving. It has some small museums, several restaurants and a swimming pool. Prices are ok, Id say. Its a good place to expend a day with family.
Chancay castle is a beautiful modern folly, it embraces several ancient cultures Romans, King Arthur and India. Inside is a small but interesting collection of ancient artifacts including mummified bodies. It would appeal to children and adults alike and I for one am glad I stopped by. The views along the coast are magnificent. It doesnt cater to English speakers but its still a lot of fun and cheap. Think Disneyworld meets Incas and King Arthur. Good old fashion cheesy fun.
