name of this castle is Villa Bonomi; thought it also deserved its own recognition. This sequence shows how walking (along a path less takencan add perspective and capture imagination and interest by taking a few steps and adding a little effort to climb a little higher on one’s journey. Brown Castle in Portofino. During some excavations in the area, in the place of today’s castle were found traces of an ancient Roman watchtower dating back to the 3rd century AD. The fortress passed to the French in 1797, when Napoleon Bonaparte conquered it.

Very nice place to enjoy the scenary of portofino from the top. Castello brown is almost 150 steps above from down.You will have to pay 5€ for entrance. There is a small caffe near castello where you can enjoy a drink with the fabulous view of portofino infront of you. Really enjoyed it😀.

There is a nice view of whole Portofino. Really worth to buy a ticket. There is also a place to have an e while having a breath-taking view.

Interesting castle with amazing views. Worth all the steps

I have no idea why such a high rate since its nothing really, just a view to the Portofino Port.No discount for handicapped either. Very dirty and bad smelling toilette.Overpriced, not worth more than 2€.

Charging entrance fees for this is a rip-off of tourists. You only pay for the view of Portofino. Otherwise, the Castello has little to offer except bad toilets. However, the bar terrace is to be recommended. Here you get a friendly welcome at reasonable prices.

Awful management… We had a long ride by car to get there but the castle was closed for a private event with NO notice on their website!!! It was the only chance for us to see Portofino and it was totally ruined…Also working hours in Google are not up-to-date

Gorgeous castle with stunning views. Was privileged to attend a wedding in the castle and it was fantastic. So beautiful. Worth the uphill hike to get there but definitely not for the mobility impaired.

For those who are coming to Portofino it’s almost a must, the little effort to go up pays back. There are 2 ways to access, one shorter but with few “hard” steps and another one, a bit longer but easier.

5 Euro entry per person but worth it even just for the nice views of Portofino.

Castle is a museum which tells pretty interesting story how all the town came to be as is now. last 100 years story... Views are unbelievable!

Easily reached on foot by following a path past the church up from Portofino harbour (it is a little steep in places but is easily managed with an average level of fitness).The caste itself is probably not essential viewing the views back down towards Portofino and along the coast are stunning.I would also recommend continuing along the same pathway until you reach the Faro lighthouse for more spectacular views.

This beautiful castle is a work of wonders in Portofino, Italy. It provides artwork, sculptures, fancy furniture throughout it corridors. Getting to the castle, there are beautiful glimpses and views of Portofino. Truly remarkable and unforgettable experience. The artist living there at the time (Fall 2016), was an amazing artist, host, and person. Gratzi, Federico!

This is a not to miss 2hrs visit (including gardensas it offers the best views over the Portofino bay.

As the closing activity of our holiday we went to Portofino. We visited Castello Brown… wow!!! That was mind blowing. It is a bit of climbing, but it worth the effort. What a view over the bay, over the rest of the mountain, over the sea. This is definitely one of the highlights of our holiday. Menekşe and René

The Castello itself has a few small but interesting exhibits. But the views over Portofino and the Tigullio bay are stunning.

While Portofino itself is overestimated, this castle brought my visit a nice turnover. Even tough the path to reach the lighthouse was closed, reaching the castle was a nice idea. 5€ to enter is a bit too much, but the view is worthy, especially from the windows on the sea, than on Portofino where you can see just ships and restaurant.

Fantastic point of view. For the castle in itself: 5€ is a bit expensive. But the point of view is very nice.

Was expecting much more from Castello Brown. The only thing was the views which were spectacular and that was pretty much for the attraction of Portofino. History of the castle was not available. Information available was based on celebrities that visited Portofino. Quiet a number of the rooms were closed off not accessible. Very disappointing.

Castello Brown affords the most amazing views of beautuful Portofino. The castle itself is at the end of a rather long, winding and steep path. If youre not fit or just want to take your time to absorb the views, there are lots of benches to sit on along the way. The highlights of the castle for me were the gorgeous garden and the room full of photos of movie stars strolling in Potofino. All feels so terribly glamorous.

Thee place to view portofino from... Dark rooms and vibrant bright shuttered windowd frame picture postcard protofino below beautifully.... A must visit.. but about 200 steps to negotiate from the port

Castello Brown is very nice, me and my son we climbed up until we arrived inside the castle and looking through the windows gave us the most magical and beautiful views.

Views to and from the Castle - and what a beautiful place for a wedding!

If youre in Portofino for more than a day you really should spend the 5 euros and climb up to the castle. The views of the town and Rapallo from the patio were awesome plus the fee helps maintain the place. Nothing too fancy here but I dont get to walk around in 500 year old buildings very often.If youve come this far, go out to the lighthouse at the very end for more beautiful views but beware, the Lighthouse Pub is closed on Wednesdays. That happened to be the day we went.

Best view of the village of Portofino is from Castello Brown. You also get great views of the Ligurian sea and coastline. Dont expect to see princes and princesses in the castle its more about enjoying the beautiful flowers, ancient architecture and an unbeatable view!

Nice and clean toilet in this castle. It is possible to see breathtaking view of Portofino from the castle. Also has a very nice garden and atmosphere.
