Castaway Cove Waterpark in Wichita Falls
Description
Privilege
I would love to give this place 5 stars. I planned on doing so until the end of our day. First I want to say my kids love this place. I love that it is small enough to see all around to keep an eye on my children yet big enough for several activities for them. The woman working at the concession stand was so sweet and kind. I haven’t seen someone with such great customer service skills in a long time. Here is why I’m giving this place 1 star. The park closes at 6 so we left around 545. I normally bring my kids across the street to change them because the bathrooms are cleaner. Well we walked over there and both of them were out of order. So I told the kids we would just go change back in the bathrooms at the park. I saw a lady employee and said hey we just left but the bathrooms over there are closed so we just need to change real quick. She said well I need to see you stamp and I said I don’t have a stamp but I just left a couple minutes ago. She said yes I know but you didn’t tell me that you needed a stamp and I said well I didn’t know I would need one (keep in mind it’s already about 550 and they are about to close). So she said well where is your receipt. So while I’m looking for the receipt she is tapping her foot impatiently. I found it and then she said “oh you’re military” and I said yes. I have no idea why that mattered but her bad attitude changed almost immediately. Then after we left my 8 year old daughter told me that she pushed her and told her to “come on now.” I did hear her say that but I did not see her push her. Had I seen that I would’ve spoken to her supervisor immediately. Her attitude and putting her hands on my child are totally unacceptable.
MoreVery nice polite staff. I have 2 toddlers and the baby area was great. The falling water throughout was way too aggressive though. And the womans bathroom smelled very dirty. The rest of the park was extremely clean.
MoreFun little water park, I have younger kids so they love the splash pad and lazy river.
MoreA nice little place to cool down and relax
It was amazing! Much better than we expected. Everybody is friendly and very respectful. Had a blast with my family.
MoreThis place is fine for young kids and older kids but those in the middle are left with the lazy river or diving board. My son swims better than most adults but hes short and 48 inches is a tall height requirement. He was able to ride everything at white water. We paid $30 for 2 kids 1 adult and they were ready to leave after 45 minutes. Theres no pool to swim in either. They dont allow outside drink containers or snacks. I drove 50 minutes to get here and we will just drive to castaway cove or hurricane harbor next time.
MoreHad a real good time and it was cheap to
My 6 year old son loves it!! His favorite is the diving board and Lazy river...
Zero Stars. We attended for a friend’s birthday party and they shuffled us around the pavilions, overbooked, & miscommunicated. Would not recommend for a party.
MoreIf -5 starts was an option it would be it. Management doesn’t know the rules when calling to book events. Rules change from hour to hour. Double booking pavilions, ran by high school children. Very unorganized, the lines are too long, one person doesn’t know the rules and then confronted the reason is that’s what I was told. DO NOT GO HERE
Moreemployees are rude, way too picky i’ll stick with going to Castaway. Had a very bad experience. Water was way too salty
MoreFirst time there Great pool for friends and family had Great time clean ,friendly staff, affordable price, plenty of quality life guards! Worth going to.
MoreCheep place but these kid employees are rude and not all there in the head. We asked two of the workers to take a family picture of us and one said no. And the other said no as well because she was to busy on her phone. We still had a good time water was supper salty tho.
MoreThe water park was a great experience. However the little red head girl with the curls. Needs an attitude adjustment. We understand its hot!! You knew that before you applied for the job. I asked her a question and she had an attitude as if I did something to her Jane the dragon looking behind!!! Please keep your attitude at home. Or find a job that suits you!!
MoreThe water was disgusting and full of chemicals that smelled awful and burned the eyes. The water wasnt even a little bit cold it felt like walking through luke warm pee and there are no actual lifeguards or adults watching people and making sure that people are following the rules and being safe. Just go to Wichita falls or Oklahoma City... Those places are actually worth the money.
MoreMe and my family absolutely loved this place., And we will be back and we will tell friends about how fun it was añd how kid adapted it is for little kids too., Your whole family will love this place.. and for the price of admission is totally unbelievable., Its great actually.!
MoreStaff are great.Excellent value at $6.50 a day!Our 14 year old with autism loved it.Free tubes to enjoy the lazy River.Slides weren’t bad the lines were short. On a Sunday the wait was around 5 mins or so.
MoreThe park and attractions was great. No outside food or drinks are Allowed there was 2 venders one selling food and one selling snow cones. The problem with this was the waiting time was outrageous, no exaggeration I waited in line for just over an hour to get 3 snow cones. This was a normal Saturday with no special events going on. I think more venders should be contracted out and spaced out throughout the park.
MoreA great family themed water park. Its definitely for younger children so dont expect your teens to be all too thrilled, but still had a great time. For the price ($6/personyou just cant be it.
MoreWent to this "water park" today, 7/20/2020 and it was not one of our better experiences. It was too crowded and the water was not only too warm it was dirty. You want to keep safe from covid19 but that water is a breeding ground for germs. Not worth the money I paid to get in or the gas it took to get there.
MoreBoomtown is the perfect place for children ages 1 - 12! They have a few smaller slides for younger children and two bigger slides for children over 48". They have an actual pool with a diving board and a lazy river that was fun to chill in. The staff was very friendly and helpful! This is a great place to hangout on a hot day if you need to get the kids out of the house. Regular admission is $6.50 per person, but offer a military price of $5/person and dont charge tax! The only complaint I have is the speed of getting people tickets at the entrance and the knowledge of the front cashiers. It took about 40 minutes to get inside after waiting in line. I would get there around 11:30 and get in line around then.
MorePros:-it’s tiny, so you can see your belongings pretty much from any point of the park;-it’s perfect for little kids, no long walks like at large parks;Cons:-not too fun if you’re an adult;-it’s tiny;Overall:-3 or under (potty trained or notneed to bring a swimming pull up, if you don’t have one, you must purchase one (I believe they’re $1 each);-we didn’t bring our own floaties because of the info we read online, but there were plenty of kids with their own floaties (life jackets are provided by the park free of charge).
MoreThis place is pretty cool. It has a little bit of everything EXCEPT an actual pool. I would give it 5 stars if it had one. I mean the slides are fun and all and theres lazy river but gets boring. I wanted an actual pool to swim in. There isnt anywhere you can just swim and chill or just play in the pool. You have get out of the pool after you slide and when you use the diving board. I just dont feel like the price is worth going down two slides and a lazy river. This place is meant for kids and teens. Thats mostly what you see there. I think they should take out that back parking lot and build an actual pool there. Then it would be worth the price and 5 stars.
MoreBest addition to friendship park. Well worth the money to pay for it. Great family fun.
MoreI will probably never come back to this place again! The management staff didnt follow up with one of the life guards that prevent my kids from going down the slide, when a girl the same height went down just before her. The height requirements are terrible! You can ride a ride at castaway cove for a short requirement!
MoreMost disrespectful manger ( I assumeas he told my friend her bathing suit was skimpy and not allowed. I understand that it’s a family park but if they needed my friend to where shorts they should of provided some, as we only brought swim suit cover ups. At the very least they could refund us our 35$ we just spent to get in. Will never be going back, just felt very disrespected.
Morestaff was incredibly rude called my friend skimpy for wearing a completely normal 2 piece swim suit. told her she needed to wear shorts, but when we asked for some they told us it’s not their job to provide shorts for her. when they’re the once’s that have a problem with her swim suit. we decided to leave to solve the problem and asked to get refund because we were only there for 30 minutes and paid $30 to come have a fun day with my nephew, but they refused to come to an agreement. I highly don’t recommend coming here.
MoreCool place with fun stuff for kids but I do not recommend for a party. We picked up tickets the day before that turned out not to be the tickets. Still dont know what I picked up. Told us coolers were allowed with water, but got to the gate and were told theyre not allowed at all. They wouldnt even hold tickets for a few guests coming later at the window! Theyre policies seem to be centered around making your party annoying and difficult.
MoreVery casual crowd. Many kids and families, as the name suggests. Decent sized water park with a lazy river, several pools and slides, and a number of covered tables. Facility is pretty clean. Lifeguards seem good.Parking can be very difficult on weekends. Be prepared to park & walk up to 1/2 mile away. Be careful, some parking areas have no outlet.
MoreLove this placeEven my 12 year old had a great time. Wonderful prices. Has a beautiful park next door for picnics. Not over crowded and great for toddlers. Very clean.
MoreLifeguards need better training/supervision, a lot of the times youll see them laid back, talking, or just not paying attention to the water. They often look irritated, tired, and like they really dont want to be there. Otherwise... the park is clean, fun, and family friendly! Its big enough for adults yet small enough that the adults can watch their kids from anywhere. My only other concern is that the only actual pool is at the diving board but they wont actually let you swim in it. Lifeguard said they had to many near drownings. Which really goes back to my previous statement about the lifeguards needing more supervision and actually paying attention.
MoreIt was a great place to take my 6 and 7 year olds. It was fun the only issue was when my 7 yr old needed assistace from a life guard she yell at her to get back in the water tgen when i tried to explain the life gaurd said my 7 yr old sgould have told someone else she also became very hostile and rude. We spoke to het manager and the issue was resolved. Even after that we noticed the same woman being rude to others as well so even tho it was a nice place to go and gas more to offer for smaller children we will not return due to the way the life gaurd was allowed to treat the people there.
MoreA lot of fun. If youre from WF, its worth the drive and much better value than Castaway Cove if you have littler ones. Older kids might get bored quick. It does get crowded quick, so the earlier the better.
MoreGreat place for littles. Small enough you can watch them from anywhere and big enough they have plenty to do. I wish they would post a height measurement stick at the bottom of the bigger slides. You have to be 48’ to ride the bigger slides but littles can jump off the jumping board into the 11 foot deep in without an issue- this does not make sense to me. Plenty of lifeguards which is great. Wish you could bring in snacks. Overall, a very adorable and great swimming hole.
MoreSo much fun! The kids area was perfect for my six and three year old.
The family loves going to this small waterpark. It is great for the kids since they are younger. The price is really great as well. The lifeguard staff seem to be fairly attentive and interact well with the patrons.
MoreWe are not from Texas and we enjoyed this park so much!!! plus it was cheaper for my entire family, so that was a plus!!!
MoreNot very big , the price is very reasonable. Great place to take small children due to the size. Limited amount of attractions
MoreDefinitely worth $5, but Id never pay more than that. Its small and over crowded. The lazy river it FULL of people who run into your face with their tubes, and you find yourself getting groped. The area for young children is always packed and the slides are small. I have a 5 years old who is too big for those small slides, but too short for the big slides.
MoreUsed to love this place but theyve raised their prices, have not provided any more seating. We had to sit in a non shaded area in the grass. There are many people who dont watch their kids. The older kids just run over smaller children. The life guards were flirting with each other instead of watching the kids coming off the slide. The bathrooms had a really bad odor and did not appear to be very clean.
MoreHad a really fun time and the place was very clean, but we were kicked out of two seating areas because of a previously booked birthday party. Had we been informed in advance we would not be so disappointed, however the staff just sprung it on us at the busiest time of the day.
MoreNormally we have an amazing time. However, this year has been terrible. The life guards on duty have zero reguard for the smaller kids. The kid area is for small kids not bigger kids. It was a terrible experience for my little girl. She was pushed out of the way and almost ran over by these bigger kids.
MoreAmazing place for young kids. Its less than six dollars for each person and my kids played for two hours straight. We could have stayed all day, but my two and a half year old and one and a half year old were worn out.
MoreEven though the price is great there are many downfalls. First the music is way too load the lifeguards dont even realize when a child is hurt. This has happened on two different occasions that I am aware of. My friend and I asked them to turn down the music and they wouldnt we were screaming to talk to each other and we were sitting right next to each other. The bees are horrible and the bathrooms are always dirty. They have a family restroom that cant be used because its always locked. When asked about the family bathroom they say its in use but when you knock no one answers and we watched for someone to come out for awhile and no one did. The last thing is that when they are short staffed they could move lifeguards around better. For example instead of two lifeguards for one diving board put one lifeguard to regulate kids going down the slide so they dont go down on top of each other and the littler kids dont get pushed under the water.
MoreAlways so crowded and not much room to float around. Its nice to have in our little town but I would rather go to Castaway Cove and have more room to move around. Also, would it kill them to get better lockers?? I can never get them to work, ever! Such cheaply made. For the price its ok I guess
MoreGreat fun for every age. Admission price very reasonable. Went there on a Tuesday not extremely crowed, closer to the weekend very crowded with older kids. Lifeguards positioned through out park. Not a large water park but has wonderful lazy river and smaller children play area. It is a must try !!!
MoreNice little water park. Usually crowded because its the place to go when its hot out. Has a lazy river, slides for adults and kids, and a diving board. Last year they had food trucks there, just opened for the season yesterday so I think theyll be back soon. Pavilions are available for parties.
MoreThis place is pretty fun. One of my favourite pools/waterparks I have been to. My last visit was around August 2015 and I really enjoyed it. Good staff, not that expensive, and most of the stuff there were awesome. The Water Trail (I guess thats what that iswas probably my favourite, either that or the slide. If you ever get a chance to, you should definitely go here because it is a fun place to hang out in. I give it a 7.5/10.
MoreThe park was a blast. Great staff, family fun and entertainment, at a low cost of $5. It was my first time going and I had a wonderful experience. The park was cleaned, controlled, and the pool was cleaned. The set up couldnt be any better. The life gaurds was professional, but fun. I enjoyed watching them enter act with the kids. They were firm about safety rules but playful to the kids. One life guard was being sprayed continuously by the younger children and had a great attitude about it. She was young but knew how to be positive but safe with the younger children. The slides was very fun, a diving board to jump and splash, a lazy river to be pushed in a circle and a chance to be showered by small sprinklers, a play area for smaller children to slide and spray you... Lol, tables to sit at with shade to sit and watch or read, chairs to sun bathe and relax. They have huge tubes, life jackets to the ones who need it. Swim diapers only a dollar for ages 3 and younger. A great staff, who keep it clean, safe, and controlled. I cant wait to go again. I would recommend any family to go for a family activity. Caution: may have lots of fun... Will make you feel like a child all over again.
MoreA great place for the price. Plenty of things to do for the little kids. Plus a diving board and 2 slides for the bigger kids/adults. There is typically at least one food truck there to provide food, however of there isnt be prepared to eat from a vending machine or bring an ice chest to leave food in the car.
