Casablanca - Restaurant in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Excellent food, reasonable prices, quiet. Quaint old location on second floor, good service. Get the prix fixe menu, enjoy the meso.
Very nice atmosphere and great service. we had a very nice meal, with different mezes, soup, and tadjines. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for good maroccean food.
Been to this restaurant with colleagues for a business meeting of 11 people, mid October 2020.I have no idea of this restaurant would be look alike. I just follow my friends suggestion.Arrived at the narrow and small street, enough for two-lanes (it is normal for the fast-developing Phnom Penh city), I noticed the iron, blue stairs, affixed outside (yes, outsideof the old-fashioned building.I dont even notice the sign of "Casablanca" restaurant that gave hint to the people that there is a restaurant up there at second floor. So. if you want to visit next time, you may expect the same experience ☺️.Arriving at the second floor, my first impression was: nothing special, old fashioned with old and "rusty" ornaments, that will not ignite your appetite for lunch. The dark yellow and and "too noisy" pattern of its floor welcomes you in. There are two small toilets; one for man, one for lady, just behind the reception desk. One important thing, it is spacious and airy. Friendly and kind staff will greet you with smiles and politely show you and escort you to your table. Although it looks old-fashioned and "rusty" restaurant, but it is clean. This could be the owners strategy to keep this "humble" ambience for customers who look for a soothing environment in the middle of hustle and bustle of the citys "passengers". 🤪I am not a Moroccan food craver, and I dont really have any idea of what looks its culinary like, or its taste. I am not a lamb lover too. I even keep myself distanced from lamb-related dishes. On my friends advise sitting next to me, I choose set menu with the "goats-knee" - Lamb Mechoui - as my main dish. No picture of this dish in their menu. So I can not imagine what the dish will be presented or plated. Ive just waiting for the good-luck, if "something wrong" with my choice. After around 30 minutes waiting while chit and chat with my colleagues, the dishes came out one by one. And it was my turn. The dish was coming. Beyond my expectation, the "goats knee" was so big, in dark brown, with salad and fries. I just can not imagine, how should I finish the giant "goats knee". It looks like 500 gram of well-done beef steak, except the bone. Remember, I am not a lamb lover, and I tend to be a lamb-hater because of its high cholesterol level, and its stinky aroma and smelly. Frankly, I just dont want to eat it at all.But I have no choice. I must try to bite it. Just like a hero. And...WOOOWWW. It crazily delicious, man. I finished in no time. No bad smell too. Recommendable. Will be back next time with family. With $15 for set menu (bread, appetizer, starters, including this "lamb-knee" and finished with choices of ice cream), and tea, it is perfectly worthy. There is no reason for complaining.
I love this place!! It is a lovely place. The food tastes so delicious. I tried the $15 course. The staff is very nice too. I will definetly come back here with my friends.
There is no much choice, its unique food the best one from the owner. One set of food only 15$, but full enough for one person. There are many mezze for starter I like the potato one. The bread also yummy. Its a bit hard to park, but we can ask the owner to check for us.
Great lamb shank main course worth the extra $3. Friendly and efficient service. Only downside was the dirty crockery.
Excellent.Great food.Nice place.Friendly staff
I went there for differents occasions and I always had a great moment, the food is very tasty, the service has good attentions, definetly going back!
I really enjoyed my experience at Casablanca, the food and the service are really good.
Brilliant find with great North African dishes and lovely decor.
My third and last day in Phnom Penh before I head to Siem Reap.$15 for a $50 experience. Some dishes were infused with different fruits and juices that left my taste palette in shock and awe. The steak melted and the fruit ice cream concoction was largely consumed in one gulp. Again, shock then awe.Im still recovering. Will be back again if I return to this magical city.
Very good food, nice atmosphere and friendly, polite people! Definitely recommend it!
Its first time to be there really its very nice I liked 😊
Its first time to be there really is very nice I liked 😊
This was an incredible meal. We loved every dish, the pumpkin soup fabulous, the mezzes simply yum it was hard to pick a favourite. For our mains, my hubby had the duck tagine, me the beef, both were so tender it melted in our mouths. Well worth the $$, the best meal weve had in Phnom Phen.
Fantastic dining experience. It’s a surprise. Great food, nice ambiance. Classy.
My friends from Marocco and Tunisia came with me to this restaurant. They spend a month with me around Cambodia. We had been trying several couscous in town and this restaurant was the best! Tasty and enough in the plate for feeling full. The staff was friendly. For sure we will go there again at their next trip to Phnom Penh.
Great hidden little gem. They offer a set menu with a choice of mains or you can opt just for a main if you prefer. The food was all really good and the staff were efficient. One minor tip of the owner happens to be reading this :-we walked straight past the first time as theres not signage at street level. Might be with putting something down there.
I loved it, from the decorations to the foods. I had such a lovely experience having dinner here with my husband and my baby. Very good service, they even gave an extra portion of the soup for my baby without being asked. Just one small gesture but big score to customer like me.I ordered the set and had the beef filet as the main course and gosh it melted in my mouth like butter, my husband enjoyed his duck tagine very much too.Well definitely be back for more of tasty Moroccan foods.
Excellent service and excellent authentic Moroccan cuisine. I had their vegetarian dish from their lunch menu. Very good even for a meat lover like me.
Its usually a set menu where according to the chef, he wants the customers to feel like home n enjoy all variety of Moroccan or perhaps Persian cuisine. The taste n design is absolutely great. Totally recommended.
We came to Casablanca after a long day of travelling, and couldn’t have picked a better spot for a beautiful dinner and a mellow atmosphere. The set menu is worth every dollar, and would definitely come back again! We had to have the entrance pointed out to us by a friendly stranger on the street, as you enter via a set stairs slightly in from the corner of the street. Look up and look for the lights and greenery of a balcony if you get lost!
THE RESTURANT IS WARM AND NICE. MENU IS SIMPLE, ONLY ONE SET, DOESNT TAKE YOU MUCH TIME TO DECIDE. I LIKE THE ATMOSPHERE AND DISH HERE.
The restaurant is at 2F. Lovely place, comfortable atmosphere. It’s all 15 USD set, so all you have to do is chose you main dish. I am amazed by the five little dish which you must try. Like this place. Worth coming for more than one time.
All as described in previous reviews. Great atmosphere, exceptional service and unbeatable price. Fine dining on a budget :will come again!
10 dollars and you can enjoy a very nice Morroco cuisine. Not many tables. Booking in advanced or coming earlier helps a lot. Highly recommended.
Relaxing atmosphere, great food with a set menu of 15$/ pax. Highly recommend this place
The prix fixe menu for $15 was great! A bit pricey, but you wont leave hungry or unsatisfied, thats for sure. The starter soup was delicious, but my absolute favourite was the five small side dishes with endless bread. The eggplant caviar was my personal favourite, very flavourful. The main of chicken was very tender, and dessert was nice and light to compliment the rest of the courses. We left absolutely stuffed, but very happy with our choice. Would come just for the side dishes alone! Thanks for a great dinner.
Great owner, free stuff, menu is restricted but they make it work.
If you are Mediterranean food lover, this is the Place. The best Morrocan food like it said in town. Lovely atmosphere and service. Cannot recommend more about this place. Just come to try.
Nice place and great food. The staff and owner is very cheerful and helping. Food is also very nice.I am glad i visited this place. Before you order, do ask for the recommendations. The Manu is set meal and choice of main course.
I love the environment and the super friendly owner and staff. We ordered a glass of wine and the owner offered us a taste test to see which wine we liked better. Very cool. I like the Mezze but the Tagine I did not find very tasty. The menu could have had more options on it. Went with my girlfriend, we had two couse meals and a glass of wine, my girlfriend opted in for tea, costed around 30-40$ I dont remember. Not too bad.
Am so glad i gave this place a try, starting from the warm welcoming, attentive service, delicious and authentic food to the piano background and the overall vibe... I just HIGHLY recommend visiting this place u wont regret it 😍
Beautiful food and very helpful staffGreat upper floor location off the street.Well worth the trip
The food is good and the staff is amiable. An unforgettable night!
First of all: the food (and drinkswere outstandingly delicious at Casablanca. I usually only do Cambodian food in Phnom Penh but this is THE exeption from the rule. Never ever tasted that delicious maroccan food from starters over soup to main dish (my mouth is still watering thinking of the tagines...and dessert. You can feel and taste the love with which the food was prepared. Everything was on the spot, perfect! The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, romantic and includes live gentle piano music. Speechless.Service is very welcoming and friendly and know (and lovetheir job.Just find the stairs leading up to the restaurant - A jewel in Phnom Penh!
Unusual to find moroccon food here but it was really authentic and very tasty.
great restaurant very nice home cooked style food. The clue to its success was just how busy it was compared to others in the area, but this was not an issue due to the efficiency of the friendly staff.
Tricky to locate without signage but well worth the search. Fixed menus, lovely food ans gracious hosts.
First off, your only option is a set menu but thankfully these guys know how to cook delicious food. We ordered 3 sets for a family of 5 and there was plenty to go around.Second, not only is the food good but so is the ambience. It really is hard to describe how this place is so tastefully pulled together.Third, nice touch with the piano.
Set menu with 15$ with main course, appetizer and dessert..Reasonable drink such as wine, cocktail and soft drink
Totally awesome food and extremely friendly staff. Get your girlfriend and go for it. 15$ menu with 4 courses in a lovely decorated restaurant with live piano session while we were eating. Food was really delicious - soup, variation of salads, main course (we had chicken), dessert plus a mint tea and water free of charge.Restaurant is a bit hard to find because theres no big sign or sth. You need to climb some blue stairs, then you made it.
After ready about it. All is correct. Hard to find place. Please put up some signs and you will get more costumers. It is upstairs and you have to look at pictures on maps. A set menu but no problem at all. Very good food. One of the most suprising food and menu i had eating at all the top 100 restaurants in Phnom Penh. Can certainly recommend and will be back.
Its like been in Morocco. Its also home cooking and comfort. Amine is the greatest host chef and makes everyone feels special. The food is absolutely fantastic.Dining is alfresco great for lunch and also dinner.A must. Just email or call as the menu changes which is why we keep going back. Ok Amine is adorable also.
Great concept, amazing food and service throughout, great value for money. Highly recommended
Foods there are super delicious and such a cozy atmosphere too. I love going there :D
I love Mediterranean food and especially Hummus. We had dinner with friends and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Without any doubt the best tagines and couscous in Phnom Penh. Worth a try and the prices are also fair.
Great location with great food! I didnt know much about Moroccan food before I came here, so it was a fantastic introduction. The eggplant dip was excellent, and the beef in the Grandmothers Tagine melts in the mouth, I wish my grandma could cook like that!
Nice little pleace in the heart of Cambodia Phnom pehn. Do lovely Morroccan dishes and fine wine.
A lovely place, nice ambience and beautiful garden, best restaurant in town. We really enjoyed the foods here very much. We love our main courses Beef Tajine & Kefta and the amazing dessert Tropical Tiramisu. Thanks Casablanca! We will be back again soon!!
