Casablanca - Karaoke bar in Utrecht, Netherlands
They have a really mean bartender, he had problems with the whole group for various reasons
Bartender is a d**k. Ride AF and pretty useless
Ive always been curious to go to this place but wow...very very rude hospitality on so many levels. My friend wanted a glas of water, got an empty glass and was send to the restroom to tap her water there!! Like what????? We left after 5 minutes. This place is an absolute disgrace for Amsterdam. Im surprised it is still open. Take it from a Dutchie never go here, I certainly wont and let everyone I know, know they shouldnt.
Great place, great DJs, really fun vibes
Amazing vibes, great & friendly staff. The best birthday party thanks!
Great night out!!
Team here are absolutely amazing! Thank you always for looking after us and giving us a great time. We fly just to come and see you.
Fun place with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. One of the few places we could find in the area that stayed opened late and where you could actually stand and interact with other people
Lovely this place best Karaoke in EuropeStaff warm and friendly including the security...All legends!!We have been back several times over the last few years excellent nights every time.
Please don’t go if you are a tourist. You will be treated with lots of hostility from the staff. Looks like a great time if you are Dutch though.
Very very bad service. You have to wait 30 minutes for a beer, and they help people first that arrived after you.
If you have an injury they treat you like second class citizens. They think you’re drunk despite you’re in pain. Honestly the most unhelpful and untrustworthy people I’ve met
The man behind the bar is mentally unstable; don’t waste your energy, time or money.
This review is -100 stars … DONT EVER GO THERE!!! This is the shiftiest place in Amsterdam! The man behind the bar is RUDE, mentally unstable & incompetent. We got removed from the bar and shouted at because one of us was wearing a jumper supporting Ukraine 🤯 Please dont ever go to Casablanca! Disappointed and disgusted beyond words.
Good vibes in the Karaoke
It was great! Amazing staff And friendly atmosphere)
Bartender looked like he was on illicit substances. Very tense atmosphere. Bartending could use a training in customer service. Geen aanrader deze plek.
I would not recommend this place at all! We tried it on recommendation of another and when we entered, we were the only three people in the bar. The guy managing the karaoke told us to stop requesting songs and get out as we cannot request more than one song at a time because it is not good for business (which he has been in for more then 30 years - he screamed this at us a few times). We then sang our last song and left to which he responded very sulkily as we did not thank him for his “great” services. We told him we left because of his rude treatment and he yelled at us to never come back and leave the worst review of the bar. To end this bizarre behaviour, he slammed the door in our faces and stormed off. In conclusion, really rude staff, worst drinks and the bar is nearing a going-out-of-business stage as we were the only three people in the building. Stay away and have a great night in Amsterdam else where!
Playing the songs was really bad at 30th of June 2022, Thank you to the guy at the sound counter as he couldn’t play the songs which were ordered in real order, it were random songs out of the list which people order
We were in Amsterdam for a weekend with friends and were looking for a nice karaoke bar. We liked it quite a bit on the first day. The bar was crowded but had a nice flair, the staff was nice and the prices comparatively very attractive. We had a nice evening, but were annoyed that our song requests were lost in the queue and we had to go to the DJ and ask where our song was. Thats the only way to have a realistic chance of really being able to sing karaoke. Unfortunately, this is not a very fair organisation, especially when you consider that some guests were allowed to sing 3-4 times within an hour. But because we were satisfied with the evening, we went again the next day. It was pouring rain and we literally ran to the bar. After the first three of us were in the bar, the bouncer said that the other five were not allowed in. The reason for the exclusion was ridiculous: One of our people went up the stairs to protect himself from the rain. The bouncer asked him to step back. He did so at the drop of a hat. The bouncer didnt see it that way. He explained that the person would not get in because he had not behaved properly. What he specifically meant by that is still not clear to us. It was a pity because until then he seemed quite nice and understanding, but in the situation he behaved very stubbornly and childishly because he was not even ready for an explanation. Perhaps this gentleman should be educated again about how to deal with guests. We have never experienced anything so unfriendly the whole weekend. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to give this karaoke bar one star. Cool bar, but unfortunately an extremely unfriendly bouncer, so not to be recommended.
Very hot bar... Need AC
Weve been there as part of the red lights Jazz festival and it was really good!
A fantastic place to catch up with friends and have some great sing along sessions
All the workers are rude but specially the man at the door very very rude! I do not recommend it to anyone, Amsterdam has many places with much more to offer than this.
Was way too busy and packed, which might signify that its popular but staff was quite grof and rude: everything from ordering a drink, to requesting a song, to trying to step outside to smoke we were met with unpleasant experiences. Planning a fun night out? Totally worth skipping in my opinion.
Pretty rude bartender. I think they hate their job and have some personal issues. You might have fun in this bar but things might also get a completely different turn all of a sudden. Stay away if you don’t want to risk your night.
A proper dutch night out experience. There is a small stage with 2 or 3 mic to sing together. Hang your jackets downstairs. Cheap drinks, great fun!
Not nice Bartender. Actually nice but never had such a bad experience with the stuff. Dont go there
Unfortunately, I couldnt take pictures but I enjoyed my time there. Bartender was nice and spoke English. Bathrooms were a typical bar status. I would just suggest that they update the karaoke songs on their system to also include current songs (at least until 2020). Other than that, good experience!
Just passed by this place today and had to remember a terrible experience about 7 years ago (yes, it was that bad that I still remember). Do yourself a favour and dont even set a foot here.
This was the worst experience I have had in Amsterdam. I went there will a small group of friends and an extremely rude manager asked us to leave after we asked for an extra glass of tap water. He claimed that there is only one glass of water allowed per person. It also seemed like he had something against people who are non-Dutch natives. Would never recommend this place.
Most of the staff are incredibly grumpy and unfriendly. The guy who controls the music for Karaoke was discarding the song that he doesn’t like and kept flirting with all the girls in a rude way. In the picture you can see all the discarded song cards. If you are not careful they think you are drunk and they charge you a lot for a bottle of water!
We went with friends and one little girl from our group was pushed to the ground by a bar worker(carrying beersand didnt apologist reacting in a very arrogant way. She told him that it was not a shame for say sorry once in a while, and the result of that was all our group "invited to leave".I must say that in Amsterdam, because it has so many tourists that there is no need anymore from bares to provide a decent service(something they should be proud of), they will always have customers. Advice: avoid touristic places.
Im reading at a five-star although I dont think you should go there. Im only because I want it to be available when I come through town and went to go myself. There are points in time when the bar is too full to invite any others inside. This really is a hidden gem in Amsterdam. Some of my most favorite memories are in this bar. Great karaoke or in reality not so great karaoke with awful voices but yet lots and lots and lots of fun. Great spot.
I never write reviews, but this experience was particularly bad. The bar tending was fine, but the person responsible for the karaoke was so rude that I had to leave my group of friends. When I tried to find a song, he dropped this massive book of barely legible text on my face. And when I said anything in response he got super aggressive despite my attempts to calm the situation. Thats the last time I will go to Casablanca and I recommend everyone else to look for another karaoke bar (try the Endin Amsterdam. No point wasting your night here when there are 10 places nearby where you wont be belittled and shouted at.
Amazing little bar hidden away. Well worth seeking out if you love karaoke. The beers are excellent and the staff are extremely friendly
Really bad experience, me and my colleagues where kicked out because I touched their DJ gear... If you don’t want people touching your stuff, don’t leave it out in the open and unattended, even better, put something there to block them. I was drunk I didn’t know any better and I’m sorry for that. But they where rude to begin with anyway, especially the bouncer/ DJ whatever he was. If you want a cool karaoke experience, go to The End around the corner. They have books with all the available songs on every table and you can just pick one and submit it at the bar, no DJ gear touching involved 😂 and the staff didn’t look like they hate their jobs and everyone around them. ✌🏻
Incredibly bad experience, the bouncer took my bag and wanted to charge me 2 eur. He then threatened me that he would forcefully remove me while I was looking for my route home on maps. I will not return on principal.
Stumbled upon this place and couldnt be happier. The music was incredible.
Always way too crowded, and the way the speakers are set up means if youre stuck in the wrong spot theyre right in your ears. If youre a club type person its probably fine, but for a quieter person this place is a bit much.
It is a beautiful bar and they offer karaoke but not really the athmosphere I expected, at least when I was there. It could have been better, more attractive to the costumer. Probably much better any other day.
Way too crowded and practically impossible to get a place in line to sing. Maybe on a weekday itd be more accessible, but dont show up on a Saturday evening and expect to sing and be able to move around.
Good karaoke bar! Nice atmosphere and a lot of choices for songs. The DJ was interactive at the right moments. Apart from the some of visitors the overall vibe was good. Would certainly recommend whenever you feel like singing.
Gives perception of closed place for locals. They have really limited set of songs, most of which are quite old. Surprisingly quality of sound is so much better than in any other karaoke Ive been in Amsterdam.
Great karaoke place, many locals. Its one of those places where you still can really get some stage time and practice your singing skills, or sing along with the crowd and have fun.Place is run by real Amsterdam folks, so expect Dutch straightforwardness and humor thrown at you.DJ is no expectation. He is honest and straightforward.-If you go on stage and give it your best shot (regardless of your skilllevel), you will likely get an applause.-go on stage, not really carrying, singing in the air instead of the mic, or too busy with taking selfies, expect to get a funny comment at the end of your performance. Dont shoot the DJ, he is just saying what the whole bar was thinking anyway.-try to destroy peoples ears and break the equipment in a drunken madness, he will throw you of stage and likely out the bar, and rightfully so.Because this is exactly what keeps this place a place where sincere singers get what they deserve. So go here:-If you like to perform on stage and enjoy karaoke-Enjoy party and sing along with others-Want to meet a lot of singing Dutch, learn Dutch song and experience a real ancient Amsterdam bar that survived the ongoing tourist boom.Dont go:-If you are drunk and just want to trash-if dont come for a drink but just stand in the middle of the crowd with jackets on, not fun for anyone.-if your large ego is not resitant to some Amsterdam straightforward comments, which is often reflecting what the whole bar was thinking anyway.
I honestly cannot stress how rude the door guy here was. This is the first review I have ever written because I just HAD to say something. We were a group of six. Not drunk. Very polite and calm. And we came up to the door to go there for my birthday and before we could ever say anything the door guy said: its full. One look inside and it clearly wasnt even remotely full - he just wanted to be rude.We politely asked when we might be able to enter and were met with multiple blunt and rude remarks... ending in him basically outright saying my friend was fat (at which point we decided they did not deserve our money and walked away)Horrible start to my birthday night. Dont know if they just have something against British tourists on a Saturday night or if he took a disliking to us (???but most likely hes just a bored power hungry doorman! Avoid, as the "fat" remark knocked the wind out of our sails for quite a bit of time before we could enjoy the rest of our night. Its a shame.
The staff of this bar should really work on their basic skills of being friendly to customers. That was the worst experience I ever had since I live in this city. We were treated as if we were a bunch of totally drunk idiots. Mean and aggressive all over (except the women at the toilets and cloakroom). That was my first and last time at this place.
This place could be where I want to spend every weekend. However the workers are unbelievably rude. The person looking up the music was extremely rude. If the staff situation changed I might be moe inclined to go back and enjoy the music and karaoke.
Me and my fiancée entered the restaurant to enquire about the karaoke. We where rudely approached by a blonde woman basically telling me to get out because I had a drink in my hand.Maybe if this lady was a little more polite I would have went in and given it a try.Very rude and obnoxious will not go in 🖒
This bar really doesnt worth your time..Except the fact that there is no heating in the bar one of the microphones was broken. Furthermore we were the only customers during that night and the manager/ bartender was really reallyyyy rude! I live in the Netherlands and I have never seen such a rude and mean person who does not respect the female gender. He basically threw beer at my friend whom he was flirting with before while he knew that she was really really drunk. I understand that her behavior was not good but he knew that she was drunk and basically he took advantage of the fact that she was a woman and started screaming. Last but not least he threw us out of the place when we were neither drunk or rude with him. It was my birthday and I got really dissapointed....NEVER AGAIN IN THAT BAR.
