Calle Judíos, 14004 Córdoba, Spain, Cordoba
Small museum tracing local Jewish heritage with a variety of cultural & historical exhibits.
Try to get the guys chanting. He has a very nice voice and having this in the patio on a hot day is very spiritual experience.
Great experience at Casa Sefarad. All the people there is amazing but S3bastian was the one who made us feel the real Scents of Sefarad in Cordoba. Manu thanks Sebastian and casa Sefarad! ( Asoc. MAGUEN SEFARAD Almeria)
Small but extremely important museum. Many beautiful objects, remembrances and warnings about intolerance and ignorance.
Entry to this museum must not be waived.Entrance fee of 10 euros. The place presents the Jews of Spain before the expulsion from Spain.the clothing, jewelry, dishes, etc. There is a great similarity to all the culture you will see in Morocco, so the Moroccan Jews kept the culture they brought from Spain to Morocco? There is also a synagogue that was used by the local residents. You can see the posters of the Inquisition which call to harm and expel the Jews from Spain. The place evokes strong feelings about the harm to the Jews that is always so light to this day. There I also realized that it had already been said "never again" its a shame that the Jews didnt remember this in Germany.
Small private museum focusing on Jewish persecution. 4.50 EUR for entry. Around 30-45 mins to see and read everything. Not bad, not that great either. No aircon so was very hot throughout
Wonderful collection of artifacts that create a vivid picture of Jewish life in Spain historically and especially during to horrific Inquisition. You’ll have a much greater understanding of the story after visiting this museum. Lovely small gift shop also. Must see.
Nice history of Islam reign in Cordoba
Unmissable!
Well judas !
If you visited the Mezquita, you must visit this excellent small museum of Sephardic history for to balance what you heard and saw at Mezquita.
Let me preface by mentioning as a Israeli Jew of Moroccan descent who was taught about the Rambam briefly in school, nothing in that museum was really new to me and I was kind of bored. But I think anyone whos not in my demographic may actually really enjoy this museum and Id encourage you to go!Upon admission you get two laminated explanation pages in English since most explanations on the walls are in Spanish, which was kind of strange. If youre Israeli Jew or familiar in any way with Judaism or Jewish history, its not going to enlighten you much - theres an entire wall dedicated to a brief explanation on each Jewish holiday, which just isnt interesting if you have prior knowledge.
Very nice and informative!
very beautiful museum
Dropped in whilst the synagogue had a ridiculous queue. So glad I did! Learnt a lot about the Spanish Jewry and staff couldnt of been more friendly and helpful. One of them gave a singing performance in the courtyard which was excellent. They were happy to answer my questions also.
This museum is a must to visit. Only after this can you understand what Sefarad was/is about. The guide is fantastic, the way he sings will surprise you and charm you. Dont expect the Louvre, this one is a different kind of magic.
Great to know more of the Jewish History in Cordoba.
Beautiful! Helpful and friendly staff!
Some nice singing and exhibits.
The house is very wonderful, history, beauty and civilization
Temporarily closed due to COVID. Person at museum said it might reopen in September 2021.
Pretty patio & well written laminated pages on the Inquisition but otherwise, buy a book instead. This is, proportionally, the must verbose display in relation to exhibits - and what there are is of minimal interest- that I have ever visited. As to atmosphere, just before me a tourist entered, said Hola. The young chap on the desk said, disparagingly Hello. The tourist, presumably offended, said apparently in protest Hola and went off. An unfortunately common interaction.
Highly recommended. Enter here for a fascinating journey through the history of Sefarad culture on the Iberian Peninsula and beyond. OK, I admit I have an interest in the subject, but dont worry if you dont know anything about it. This museum is designed to offer you a manageable introduction to the subject, and I am as sure you will wonder how you ever let this rich culture and its people evade your attention and you will probably want to find out more when you leave. Staff here are very helpful and well-informed and some are multilingual. Enjoy!
A fine exhibition and thoughtful explanation of the Sefarad community in Cordoba and elsewhere, and the ensuing diaspora, located across the street from one of only three extant synagogues in Spain. Certainly worth a look if youre stroking the area, as its a small oasis of work in a thronging tourist neighborhood. A special emphasis is laid on Maimonides, the most famous of Cordobas scholars, as well as a dense treatment of the Inquisition locally -- although if youre not a Spanish speaker, ask for a translation booklet at the front desk in advance.
A nice small museum showcasing the history of the Jews, expelled from Spain in 1492. Theres a fair bit about Maimonodes, one of the most important intellectuals of the 12th/13th century- he died in 1204- who was a Jewish man from Cordoba. Its worth the small price of admission, though many of the artifacts lack full explanation.
Good introduction into the Sephardic heritage + judaism. The museum is located in a traditional house with patio. Info in several languages
Very interesting guided visit. The museum is small but has a lot of information.
Terrific museum worth visiting. Sad testimony to the persecution and destruction of Spains Jewish population.
Very nice place, a good surprise !The house itself is beautiful and more than deserve a glimpse. The museum is about 10-12 rooms, with very good explanations provided both on panels (all at least in 2 langages, except for the inquisition part which is Spanish onlyand in the document provided at the entrance. The topics covered are well chosen and give each time the appetite to know more, proof they are well pitched. Also, you can go with a baby trolley, there is an hidden elevator at the back.
Very Impressive and informative
Small but very good old dwelling. Worth the price for interested folk like us.
Very special place
A nice small museum that can be covered within 30 minutes of your time. It is a stones throw from the historic Synagogue and the Maimonides statue. Good history information to be had at the museum. See my pictures for some interesting information on some of the women (Muslim & Jewishof Cordoba at its zenith. Its only €5
Well worth a visit if not because Cordoba has a tradition Muslums, Christians and Jews living side by side successfully. The museum explain the Jewish community in Cordoba and the significance of the Spanish Inquisition.Very informative though the presentation is a little dry.
Museum of the Jewish history (sefaradof Córdoba, very interesting!
Excellent if you are interested if you are interested in the history of the Jews in Spain. Very helpful and informative staff.
Must visit for evrey jewish
Great museum! Wonderful staff.
The exhibition presents the old Jewish life of the city. The entrance fee is € 4. You can spend 30-45 min. in the casa because there are many rooms and interesting items. You get two larger laminated textual brochures to help your visit in the casa but you you have to give them back at the end. There is a lavatory at the end of the yard.
Impressive museum dedicated to the Jewish history of Spain, established by non-Jews who took an interest to the subject. The museum guide Ramon is very knowledgeable and has a profound understanding of this part of Spanish history. Beautiful Sephardic singing concerts are offered with prior arrangement.
Small but a good Jewish museum.
Very interesting but small museum.Much emphasis on inquisition.Would have liked more detail on the history prior to the inquisition.Still all in all it was very interesting and worth an hour to visit-mostly reading as displays somewhat sparse
An excellent small museum that deals with Córdobas Jewish figures and everyday lives, but also larger themes such as diasporas or the Spanish Inquisition. Cheap entry and a lot to see. Most information in English as well as Spanish.
Not many details, some are only in Spanish but theres a page given with translation
Very interesting and beautiful displays.
Moving and excellently curated
Outstanding small museum. Great display of the Spanish Sefard history.
Informative and eye opening
Pretty much the best place to find information and artifacts about Sephardi Jews
A really really good museum !!! It holds a beautiful exhibition of Jewish-Spanish (Sefaradimcolture. Very worthy visiting.
An excellent little museum well worth visiting for another perspective on local history with particular (but not exclusivereference to Jewish peoples living in Cordoba.
