Casa Zamora Restaurant in Albert Lea
Description
Privilege
I love their chimichanga have to get it every once in awhile
Enchiladas, with extra onion, topped with their hot sauce is the ultimate comfort food for me. Lupe is so sweet, and Casa Zamora really is "home"
MoreKind servers and delicious meal.
Whenever my husband & I are "back-home" visiting Albert Lea, we pickup Casa. The red sauce is unbelievable. Best hot sauce Ive ever had, hands down. We pick up pints of it at a time, to bring back to the metro with us, and its gone within 2 days. These guys know what theyre doing with food, thats for sure.
MoreFirst time tonight and it was WONDERFUL! our waitress was great! Will definitely eat there again !!!
MoreTypical Americanized Mexican food. Rather bland tasting. No chips and salsa with meal. You have to buy chips and salsa.
MoreIf you like american style tacos, enchiladas and burritos, this place is for you. If you want other Mexican favorites like carnitas or tamales, youll have to go to a Mexican restaurant.
MoreExcellent food and service. The bean dip was the absolute best ever!
Pulled up and thought it looked sketchy. After everyone who came in after us got their food, waitress finally realized we didn’t have food yet. It was not hot but ok. The best part was the food poisoning I experienced later. I wouldn’t even give one star but not a choice.
MoreAmazing Mexican food, been going here for well over 25 years. Favorite Mexican place of all time.
MoreI dont think people in Minnesota really know what good Mexican food is cause I have lived here for almost 2 years and have not found a good Mexican restraint yet
MoreService was a little slow, but food was great. We were not in a rush. Portions were small, bit have been here before and always had great food.
MoreLove Casa Zamora! Best authentic Mexican food! Awesome food and service. Queso enchildasa and Chimichanga with mushroom gravy are my favorites - but all is great!!
MoreEvery time I am in Albert Lea and want to pick up some Casa Zamora queso and chips to take home with me - they are closed. EVERY TIME I want to spend money they are not open to accept. Today is a Thursday at 4 PM I would like to pick up but they are not open until 5 PM. Closed on Sundays. So I am done trying to find times that its convenient for them to take my money rather than convenient for me, as a customer, to get what I am looking for.
MoreSimply some of the best food in the state, absolutely amazing.
Good service, but the food was very plain, very bland and had absolutely no flavor. Was expecting something much better after seeing the sign that said, "Voted best mexican food 10×. Very disappointing.
MoreSorry but this in not authentic. Just because you use beans rice and throw a tortilla in the mix doesn’t make it Mexican food. Needs more flavor. Not sure what part of Mexico they represent but not authentic
MoreVery poor.. beans were more like soup.. rice was mush and tasted burnt and dont ask me about main corse...no chips...long wait...never again 😒
MoreOMG I love there food so authentic and delicious, the salsa makes the meal really love it
MoreI love casa zamora, great family feel and amazing customer service:))SUPPORT LOCALLY OWNED!!
MoreExcellent food. I was coming in from out of town, ordered during my drive. They had my order hot and ready to bring out to me right on time so I could continue my drive seamlessly. Also ordered pans of enchiladas to bring home
MoreFood is excellent. Love the margaritas and hot sauce. Staff i s very friendly.
The “salsa” is almost the equivalent of tomato sauce with the same pungent smell and taste of ketchup. The chips were just like tostitos dumped right out of a bulk ordered bad with no true Mexican love. We decided to try 3 separate dishes including steak tacos, beef burritos, and soft tacos for an appetizer, the presentation wasn’t bad and I couldn’t wait to get the tacos into my mouth. As soon as I bit into it I realized there was something terribly wrong. The beef had no seasoning and tasted like cafeteria lunch meat served on a rubbery cheap store bought tortilla. I got the steak taco meal and the same went for the steak, no flavor. Whoever is cooking is ABSOLUTELY NOT tasting as they cook. Bland, bland, bland. We were excited to try a different place and are heading home disappointed.
MoreI am from Clear Lake IA and have not been to this restaurant since the 80s. I loved it then and happy to know it is still going strong. Excellant good and margaritas.
MoreThe food was ok. The shrimp in my salad had been frozen and not properly thawed. It was very tough to eat. The staff was excellent!! Very nice and friendly and fast service!!
MoreGood food and service.
The chips were store bought round tortilla chips and the salsa was the consistency and flavor of straight up ketchup. I ordered the rice and beans, believing it to be a relatively safe bet, but the portion was tiny and the food looked inedible.
MoreOrdered shrimp enchilada. It came with a diner salad (sprinkling of shredded lettuce with dressingbeans and rice. Menu description said 4 shrimp, I expected large shrimp not salad shrimp! Also bathrooms are disgusting. Check out other options before eating here.
MoreWorst dinner we have ever had. Regardless of the other reviews from family members, unfortunately we can not rate this restaurant well. We travel the country and stopped here due to the high rating and hungry from 10 hours on the road. The tortilla chips were cold and definitely the cheap ones from the grocery store. The "salsa" was store bought and tasted like canned taco sauce. The tacos were shells from the grocery store box and served cold. The rice was a ball of mush. The meat is flavorless. The enchilada was a soggy mess and dull in flavor. The server seemed inconvenienced that we came to eat. This restuarant is NOT worth stopping at in its current state.
MoreTacos, and a burrito. All was delicious. I enjoyed that the beans were actually homemade and not canned! Pretty reasonable priced. Would absolutely go back whenever in the area.
MoreFood wasnt bad but seemed more out of a can than "authentic". Granted it was after 7:30 PM but even the chips were like what we buy at Aldis.
MoreWe ordered a burrito and basically got a soft taco. The rice had no taste , the burrito was ok. The waitresses didnt seem to know what they were doing
MoreFood is good, serve was odd, they made us feel like we inconvenience then to be at there restaurant. Oh yeah, they out of many things that we tried to order. 😣
MoreAn OK restaurant. Small in size. Atmosphere was plain. Menu prices were reasonable. Staff friendly.
MoreBest Mexican food I’ve ever had...I would travel two hours for it and the people that work there are the sweetest people I know! Love you grandma and grandpa! Uncle jay! Auntie B and auntie Sarah!
MorePlease dont stop here. Salsa tastes like pace picante. Menu is basically plain ground beef in a shell with shredded cheese melted on top. Enchilada sauce is yellow? Or some unidentifiable color. Rice is a ball of goo. How in the world is this place still in business? It was literally the worst excuse for Mexican food Ive ever had. Ignore all the good reviews on here. Im hoping I dont get sick.
MoreNo, no, no. An awful disappointment. I dont know what is remotely Mexican about this place. I think theyre coasting on the good old days. Nothing we had was worth eating. Nothing -- fajitas, salad (pile of lettuce), "salsa". Go to Taco King. Not great there either, but at least 60% better than this place.
MoreI’ve gotten food here twice because somebody offered to get me food. The the first time I got the taco salad and the taco meat was plain and sort of dry, otherwise the taco salad was alright. The second time I got the enchiladas hoping for a gooey mess of deliciousness and their enchiladas seemed to have corn tortilla shells instead of flour, which I don’t prefer, and the enchiladas just had cheese on top and meat inside. I was hoping for some sort of sauce so they’d be less dry. The taco meat was extremely dry and crumbly! It had no moisture what so ever. Disappointed. I’m not one to complain or leave a bad review right away but after the second time having their food, I wish the taco meat was less dry. And maybe there’s an option for flour tortillas... I just thought that would be the primary option instead of corn tortiLlas.
MoreAre you kidding me. These reviews must be friends and family. We stopped here and the 50/50 ketchup/store bought pace salsa are an indicator to how terrible the food is. It is the worst!!!
MoreOne of our favorite places to eat!. We always end up getting our corn enchilada dinner with beans and rice. As always it was wonderful.
MoreThe service was a bit slow so if you are in a hurry it might not be the best choice bit the food was really good. Me and my girlfriend were both happy with our visit and will be going back in the future.
MoreGreat food, warm atmosphere, and the Zamora family is great! Authentic Mexican dining, with down home feeling.
MoreFar from authentic Mexican food, as the sign says. Gringo style hamburger meat for the tacos, store bought tortilla chips. Store bought taco shells. Im not impressed. They did have authentic Mexican paintings to make a dull dinner short of expectations.
MoreIm originally from Texas, so I know my Mexican food..lol..and Casa Zamora is by far the very best Mexican restaurant in Freeborn county, MN.
MoreNothing great, Nice Food and OK. service . Very bland for Mexican food but for Albert Lea MN nice place to eat. If your looking for spicy look else where.
MoreIf youre looking for Mexican this isnt it. The chips and salsa they start you with are stale and the salsa is this side of ketchup. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and they are served with a brown gravy type sauce, which I have never encountered before. The ketchup sauce helped a little. My companions ordered the chimichanga, and couldnt eat them. We also tried the margaritas and they didnt seem to have any alcohol in it. Do we waste your time or money.
Moredecent service, portion size, way small (with some mealsi ordered the nachos *the meal, not appetizer* and was served a medium plate with maybe a handful of stale tortilla chips on it, not enough chips to cover the plate lightly covered in melted cheese with 5-6 sliced jalapenos on it, not worth the $8-$10 (this visit was about a month ago)have not been back since and if not for my wife liking their food, probably wouldnt ever go back!but their cream cheese chimmy is awesome (only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1)
MoreLove this place! Great authentic food, friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Most definitely the best Mexican food in town!
MoreI have been eating here for as long as I can remember. The Zamoras were neighbors of my family in Austin before moving to Albert Lea. We make a trip over for birthdays and special occasions. I havent found a Mexican restaurant that serves the same style of food and I really enjoy it. I recommend the Chili Con Queso Enchiladas but everything I have tried there is top notch, thanks to Jake and Lupe for serving my family all these years.
MoreLove the Zamora family. This has been my favorite Mexican restaurant for pretty much my entire life. They have a different menu and recipes than what most other places offer, and I wouldnt trade them for anything. My only regret is that since I moved to the Twin Cities, I only get rare chances to stop there any more.
