Casa Romana in Carlisle

Relatively close to Carlisle Station its a good spot to visit if youre awaiting your train. A great menu with a good range of pizza, pasta and other Italian dishes and good non meat/veggie options too.Price wise its reasonable and wont break the bank. Staff are attentive and friendly and I can highly recommend that you contemplate a visit here if you happen to be in the area.We visited at lunchtime so cannot comment on how busy it is for evening meals but weve never had issues getting a table.

Fantastic gluten free menu and the staff are very aware & knowledgeable about allergies. My wife is ceoliac and Ive got gluten & dairy allergies. Portion sizes a little on the small side. But then I do eat quite a lot.

This Italian restaurant has been in Carlisle a long time with very good reason. Lovely food. Excellent service.

Beautiful Italian food here today I went to have a margarita pizza and garlic bread my friend had a pepperoni pizza and a coke and he had a fudge cake for desert I had a lovely sticky toffee pudding with 2 cokes he had a coke my mam had a coke (330ml bottlesgood quality meal and good prices for the food and nice and quiet. Will be 100% back here at some point .btw it was happy hour we went

This is an excellent mid budget restaurant serving tasty and good Italian home cooking. It felt like we had been welcomed in the owners home for a meal.

Lovely food, dont be put off by the simple interior, the food was delicious, washed down with a nice glass of wine.

Couldnt ask for anymore for the team at casa romana ! Booked a 30th meal for 26 people and they were brilliant with everything. The party menu was very reasonably priced at £19.95 per person this included tapas starters a main and a dessert, the amount of food for that price was like nowhere Ive seen and the quality of the dishes was simply ace (tiramisu for pudding was beautifula big thank you to all the staff, we will definitely be back !

Decent starter and main with good dessert.The Bolognese spaghetti is slightly disappointed.Chicken Rissotto can be more creamy.

Service was good. Food was nice. May I suggest you put more space between tables. We had people on next table blocking us in they were that close. No privacy for a conversation 😕 I personally would prefer tables to be further away from each other.

My wife and I have not been here since covid began. We loved it when we have been in the past but were not sure whether or not to go out or stay in given the rise in prices that seems to be hitting everything. However since it was to selebrate our 12 year wedding anniversary we decided to treat ourselves. And Im so pleased we did.We booked last minute but we were fitted in with no problems. When we arrived we were quickly seated and drinks order taken. we ordered starters and mains which came in good time and were both delicious. After our mains we served we ordered some much needed garlic bread, (wasnt wasting any of the delicious saucethis was no problem and rushed out to us by one of the chefs who even apologised for taking so long despite it being our fault for not ordering it in the the first.The friendly attentive waiters checked on us and ensured we were OK with our meal. If I had to give one small criticism it would be that one young waiter was a little eager to clear our plates away as we had literally just finished but he was very polite and we just put it down to possibly being new and a little over eager to pleaseWe shared a desert and got the bill.We were shocked to find the bill came to only £65 ,around the same as pre covid.Im pleased to say I work for a wholesaler that supplies some of the food and drink to casa romana and know first hand the rise in costs so, to see they are able to turn out excellent food at reasonable prices is good to see.Over all,Excellent foodExcellent serviceVery reasonable prices.Deffinatly go back again.

Had lunch there last week to celebrate our wedding anniversary.The two young staff there were lovely and friendly and made us feel welcome.The food was delicious and I was especially grateful to find some decent vegetarian choices.The happy hour menu is great and very reasonable which means we shall certainly be back. Thank you for a great meal☺️

Visited with the family, I had the house tagliatelle with a lamb ragu, which was sublime. My wife had a seafood tagliatelle which she reported as excellent and our boy gave a thumbs-up to the childs pizza.The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive.Definitely worth a visit

Easy yo book. Menues available to download online. A very good choice of starter, main, and dessert dishes on the menu. Happy hour menu for the week night earlybird. Prices are competitive with similar establishments locally. The restaurant was welcoming and clean, the staff were helpful and friendly, dietary requirements were catered for. The gluten free pizza had an undercooked base on this occasion. Only two brands of gin to choose from, which was disappointing. Overall a good experience.

Outstanding vegan food. We had a three course lunch and the food was out of this world. Excellent service. Highly recommend!

A few big steps to access but was worth the struggle I had to get in. Would probably do a take out next time as access was an issue but the food and service was so so good

Waited long time for food and it was ment to be happy hour food was rubbish my hubby pasta had no taste at all and only small portion my pizza had no taste too not how l recall the lush pizza had a couple of years back tbh my hubby is a chef and his pasta dishes r full on taste 😋 the pasta he had was ment to be pasta alamatricana its was dry not much of it too ☹️tbh l came home and cooked my self a fry if as l was hungry still 👎

Went at lunchtime which was happy hour. 2 courses for £12.95. Meal was excellent. If we are back in Carlisle will definitely go again.

I absolutely loved this place. It was a very last minute decision to book a meal here after somewhere else didnt have a table for me. Obviously their loss and my fateful gain. The food was delicious. In particular, I had the chef special lamb and aubergine tagliatelle which was definitely the best Italian dish I have ever eaten. The staff were lovely and friendly, the wine was also very good. I would definitely recommend this place if you enjoy hearty Italian food.

This is our 2nd time eating out here. Good place. Will definitely go again. Some plates were absolutely lovely some were a bit faded but overall was a good night. Though it wasn’t a particularly busy evening, there was a longer than expected wait time for drinks and we had 2 extra coffees added to our bill, which we never ordered. So keep your eyes open when you get the bill.

Dined in. When doing a recce, my good lady looked on and place was heaving. When we booked a table for later, it was quiet. Very pleased as the food was excellent. Portion of main course meant that we couldnt manage a dessert. Definitely worth a visit

My husband and myself try and come here every month. It is our favourite Italian in Carlisle. The staff are amazing, Andy(the head waiter I think and if not should beis wonderful , always has a smile on his face and makes you feel so welcome The food is absolutely fantastic,we have never had a bad experience and we have been a few times. Just absolutely amazing,thank you all again for a great night x

We loved it here, Id booked in advance knowing they had a gluten free menu. When we arrived I was greeted by name and shown to a lovely table by the window all very covid secure too. As a party if two both eating gluten free we were really impressed with the menu options and the food was equally as impressive.

Some of the best food I’ve had in my life. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. Nothing ever seems too much. Would come to Carlisle again just to come here.

Incredible! Staff were so friendly! Service was excellent, and food was incredible quality, arancini, pizza and tiramisu to die for! We would have loved to have come back for lunch tomorrow but they are closed unfortunately! Great for the staff, responsible owner who cares about their staff! Amazing authentic Italian food!They have an extensive menu and they also have a VEGAN menu which is still quite hard to find in restaurants even these days!The food came out very fast, literally 10mins of ordering our starters came and after that our mains came in 5 mins.The pasta tasted so fresh both of us really enjoyed it.I would like to say thank you to our waiter who made or experience even better and was very accommodating. (He was the young lad on friday night, great job!!! )

Food was good. Tasty as always. Fresh, enough on your plate and we ate it all. Its recommended you book as it gets busy and full quickly. Staff were friendly and tried their best. I think their covid prevention methods need a little more work (possibly seated too near othersbut they did take our number for track and trace.Overall, nice place as always

What an experience! Came to Carlisle from Aberdeen for three nights and couldn’t resist to go twice in a row. Had the vegan pizza and apple crumble, which is the best dessert I’ve ever eaten! Will be back!

Ive been back at my accommodation 5 minutes and knew that this review was the first thing I had to do! Just got back from Casa Romana having eaten one of the best meals of my life - and as a vegan too. Massive menu, and a huuuge choice of vegan options. I went for the Vegan Gustaso pizza and it was the richest, most flavoursome pizza Ive ever eaten - surprisingly (and deliciouslycreamy...Could have any extra toppings too which was an added bonus! Couldnt resist their big selection of vegan desserts either, so went for the sticky toffee pudding - yet again, superb quality.All in all, stunning food and at a fantastic price too. Casa Romana obviously put so much effort into making their food entirely inclusive of all diets (vegan and gluten-free specifically), and as a vegan, it is truly appreciated! The service was also incredibly good, and the chef himself brought out my food and spoke to us personally at the end.Very very sad that I am only in Carlisle for one night - this place is certainly a reason to come back! Food and atmosphere was superb, I opted for the salmon with veggies along with some red pepper soup. Salmon tasted fresh and had a nice bed if spinach under it. The staff was friendly and was able to accommodate our party of 16. Would highly recommend for dinner and drinks.

Had an awesome experience here. Salmon was cooked perfectly. Staff was very quick and prompt with service. Fair prices and a very nice setting. Appetizers were fabulous as well! Would recommend this place to anyone!
