Casa José Port Casa - Spanish restaurant in Casablanca, Morocco
The waiter tried to force us to buy food even when we told them, very seriously, that we were only interested in stopping in for cocktails. Finally the waiter "asked permission" from the manager to allow us the "privelege" to spend money there on cocktails only (the place was completely empty other than one other table of customers, btw)!
I was hungry that I didnt manage to take good pictures of food. The staffs were very welcoming and the food was delicious.
The fish soup is salty and the crème brûlée is cold.
I was eating alone so I asked about tapas. There is no English menu, only Spanish or French so I cannot read. The waiter said all are tapas. He suggested seafood salad so I took it then I will decide what to eat after. In the salad there is only one shrimp and one small fish, all the rest is squid (cheap and hard to digestI left them over. Then I asked if any tapas in beef or pork, he said no, all are big dishes, no half portion. Ok goodbye ! All waiters with unhappy faces, sad !! And smoking is allowed indoor, sad !!
I was denied entry asked for a reservation, the place was empty I even asked to sit at the bar, he mentioned food, well I want to eat of course I’ll order food. All I wanted was a meal and a nice glass of wine, apparently a female by herself isn’t welcomed. ( the place was recommended by colleagues that they never had a reservation before)
Mediocre food and the service is something that needs help. Restaurant was fairly empty was a challenge getting cocktails and water. Ordered seafood pasta, sauce was heavy olive oil, little garlic and seafood severely over cooked, squid was tough and conch was like rubber pellets. The fresh bread was the best thing we ate this night. Also ice was is short supply, had to request several times for ice.
Delicious foods tapas and drinks...Good service..so chill
Medium quality food that never stop getting more expensive. Portion getting smaller in the meanwhile. That said, not a lot of choice in old city center 😅
Yesterday (Friday 5th Augustat around 2p.m, i went to Jose. As i was entering, 2 staff members were at the front. Didn’t want to let me in, were being condescending in the way they were treating me. I was prospecting and i’ve let them know from the start that i want to know what you guys serve cause i might come some other day. They didn’t greet me as a customer, they didn’t ask me what i was looking for, their only thing in mind was to escort me from the entrance (i think they did that because i wasn’t dressed properly, since i was just passing by and was just trying to discover bars in the area that i might go to)I will be honest i felt like i was profiled from the first sight of the staff in the entrance.Basically, poor educated staff and we are talking about the front face of Jose which is supposed to give a first good impression to any customer. After this experience, the last thing i would think of, is going back to that restaurant.
Undercooked tortilla and liquid crema catalana. Paella was ok.
Great seafood paella, but it would be really nice to have a non-smoking section to eat. That really detracted from the overall experience.
Trafalgar Group lunch. No enquiry as to what we would like. Food came fast and furious. Paella or oysters not offered. Hard to enjoy it through the cigarette smoke!
We had the paella and it was good. Had a hard time enjoying it though because people are still allowed to smoke indoors.
A bit loud Spanish music but food is OK. The staff is polite and helpful.
Very testy paela and shrimp pil pil ... setvice quite good, I ll highly recommend this restaurant.
Best paella ever
Very bad experience here very bad service even the food was good
Normal place. Good service but no good food.
Excellent service. Very reasonable prices. Nice food and atmosphere.
Everything that we ordered was fresh and delicious. I will come back here again.
It was delicious
Their fresh seafood was awesome especially their Black Ink Paella!. We had a few other items like the fried calamari and they were also nice!
Called to check if it was open due to eid holiday, we were told yes without any mention of any restrictions, when we arrived, after spending taxi money because it is a little bit out of the way but always wanted to check it out, we are informed about restrictions that make a tapa bar not worth a visit, which is fine but the management obviously deployed deceptive marketing strategies to attract customers without full disclosure of restrictions or just really bad customer service. Either way Casa Jose lost a customer.Had they fully disclosed the restrictions and limitations we wouldve rescheduled for another day and not written them off our list of "go to" restaurants in the centre de ville.1 star for lack of transparency and bad customer service.
I usually love this restaurant but I need the attention of management. I tried to put an order in today but staff called me back after taking my order to inform me the delivery person might be late. I told them I understood and was ready to be delivered later in the afternoon or evening but they refused to. Why take my order in the first place and present excuses instead of being clear and professional with customers ? I hope management gets back to me so I can change this rating that the restaurant actually does not deserve.
Food is good because the city lock down, we only can have take out service. I think food will be more delicious eating inside the store next time.
It was much better before now all the food is oily and not up to the standards it was an epic place to visit but now its just got like average level and many times below average i highly recommend other options, but no harm to explore but please expect oily food with over priced menu.
Very beautiful setting with clean environment.Food is very delicious and staff were very helpful too. Wide selection of beers, wines, and non alcoholic drinks.Definitely worth the visits... Prices r OK too..
Very nice good. Good atmosphere. Slightly pricy but worth it. Very close to markets. The staff are professional and very hospitable. It gets busy during lunch.Paella is superb.
Simple reasonable cool fresh and tasty plus i looooooooooove spanish music
Great atmosphere, great freshly cooked meals .. great restaurant ...I will be back
Good taste, good service, but little bit expensive
The place is attractive but their menues are all in Spanish and French and no English translation which makes it difficult to decide what to eat. Spanish dishes are more prominent and with exception of Stake I did not enjoy it. Staff are friendly but have noe idea how to serve or respond to requests or monitor customers.
one of the employees doesn’t respect Arabs only people from Europe and Moroccans and they don’t have an English menu , the atmosphere is nice i liked the songs playing on the background while the food is average , the shrimp tagine was perfect. Unfortunately we didn’t feel welcomed we never come back again . Wish the manager speak with his employees.
Great atmosphere, excellent food and great service
The ambience wasn’t very nice because the owner was shouting few times during dinner on his employees. Everyone could hear it from the kitchen in the restaurant. Another black point, I ordered the small fried fish (smeltwhich I always order when I’m in Spain, here on the menu it’s called “Eperlans frits”. In Spain it’s delicious and tender, here I had to remove the bones from every single one of them as the bones were already hard and big enough to feel it. I had to ask for cash back as they didn’t do it automatically. The server was slightly reserved.
Friendly, good food, good prices. Speak French and English. Serve alcohol. Whats not to like! Definitely recommend the beef - very tender, served with chips and small saucer of pepper gravy.
One of the best restaurant in Casablanca
Excellent food! Excellent service! Authentic..loved it!
Good food, but the waiter is not nice to English speakers.
Great place to enjoy Spanish food and have a drink in Casablanca. Quality of food and service is fine, nothing to complain about it, but not much to complement either. The seafood is very expensive, more so than in Spain at least. Not possible to park and the the neighborhood is quite noisy and lousy, as it’s located close to the casa port and have a few 5-star hotels nearby.
The food was good, but the service needs work. However, we dis go during Ramadan so that may have accounted for the sluggish wait staff. The prices are very reasonable and the wine selection is good. We actually went twice in one week. I ordered the cordon blu the first time and it was good, but could have used some kind of sauce. The second time I ordered the chicken brochette and they were great. It was a lot of meat (almost too muchand it came with vegetables and potatoes and rice. It was tasty and healthy.
Its not easy to find a really good restaurant in Casablanca. This one I liked. It has also Alcohol but better bring your passport with you if you are not Maroccan and if you dont look western. They dont serve alcohol to people like me, that look Arab even though I am not Muslim. but I dont complain. Every country has its... Things
Very bad experience with no services being provided and the waiter is rude. Be noted that they will force you to give them tips that is up to 20% of the meal, in which this is not stated on the bill. We were only been told about the service charge until we had waited 15mins for having back the change and asked the waiter. We had been Casa Jose in Rabat a day before, but there was no compulsory service charge and the time waiter is nice.Besides, they will force you to order food that they recommended by telling you what you want is not available or not good. If you stay firm in choosing what you want, they will make fun on your taste.. horrible dinning experience that will ruin your night.
Would be 3 stars but food is expensive. For half the price it’s 3 stars. Paella was nothing special and service is not really good. Had to ask for a fork 3 times. Wouldn’t you think you’d need one ? Also server asked for more tip. I just gave it to him but nothing was good really. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Much better spanish food around.
Good food, lots of flavor though the portions are a little small. The biggest problem is the indoor smoking that the country is perfect ok with, made me leave sooner than I wanted, couldnt take all the second hand smoke.
Everything is great at this place! Music is superb!
A very nice restaurant with great service, really nice food at quite good prices. The restaurant has a good feel to it, however it can be a little noisy when very busy. The staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient as well as being able to converse in a multitude of languages. We really enjoyed our food and were impressed with the dishes others had ordered.A great place for a casual and relaxing meal.Just been back for the third time in 2 days - I was not disappointed. The grilled seafood platter is well worth trying and is delicious, although it was too much food for 2 of us.
The food here is excellent. I have eaten here four times in three days. The Grilled espadon is just so juicy. Also had few tapas and everything was great. Would come back here any time am back in town. Staff also very friendly and service is good
Really good food and a good value for the money. I order the shrimps in garlic and they are excellent. Good proportion plates, plenty to chose from. A bit disappointed with the choices of desert menu and there is non-smoking area, so a hit hard coming from non-smoking environments, but I do strongly recommend this place.
High price, low food quality and terrible service. Sauce was not bad but the rice was not cooked completely. And a normal bottle of water (0.5Lwas 15DH!! Waitors were indifferent. Extremely disappointed after 45mins waiting!
