Casa Fofó - Restaurant in Bandarbeyla, Somalia
We really loved our experience here, especially because the chefs were able to cater for coeliacs with other allergies/intolerances. In some restaurants you feel like youre putting people out by asking if they have gluten free options, but here they were so accommodating. The vegan/gluten free courses were beautifully put together, and dont make you feel like youre missing out. Super laid back, but extremely special at the same time. 10/10
My favourite restaurant in London. Invariably inventive (clear Asian influence), high quality ingredients and well executed. Have visited this establishment and Head Chef Adolfo’s previous restaurant Pidgin a handful of times. Excellent food and experience, every time.
Overall food quality is good! Great service and chefs serve the food directly to your table and explain to you what youre eating😂 £62 per pax fixed menu.
An extraordinary meal. Each dish has a multitude of different flavours that blend and balance in such creative ways. Strawberry with spice, anise with basil, octopus with pumpkin, bread ice cream with fig. The list goes on. Have been twice and would definitely return.
Amazing food! I was there to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and we received a great attention and delicious food!
Sensational tasting menu. Such a lovely touch with the chefs coming over to explain each course, and very accommodating with dietary requirements. 🔥🔥🔥
I will rate this place with a 4/5 according to my scale.Food quality: 2.5/3Ambiance of the place: 0.4/0.5Authenticity/ innovativeness of the place: 0.3/0.5Value/Price of the place: 0.2/0.5Service of the place: 0.4/0.5Total: 3.8/5Casa Fofo was a very interesting experience for us. There is a set menu which was 62 pounds per person. The food, especially the starter, which was a fermented haddock with celery mint and beetroot sauce and the pasta dish were the highlights for us in taste and creativity. The third dish with tomatoes and sourdough crisps were okay. The main meat dish, a 60 day aged steak, was cooked perfectly, but otherwise a bit standard and the eggplant main dish was also tasty but nothing extraordinary. The pre dessert and dessert were delicious and different, but the overall food combination was slightly worse than some of the other Michelin star restaurants. still, this is a great restaurant with a very cute garden and great service that I would recommend for anyone living nearby.
My partner and I went to Casa Fofo for my birthday and loved the cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was just wonderful: each dish was surprising and delicious. I highly recommend chosing the wine pairing as we discovered some incredible wines with unexpected flavours. Highly recommend for a date and/or a celebration. Will definitely come back again!
One of the best testing menus I’ve had. You don’t see the menu beforehand, just stating any allergies etc so it really is a case of trusting the chef but the food is beautiful. Every dish blew us away with the complex but balanced flavours. Glad we chose the wine pairing as they were interesting wines we would never have otherwise chosen, and are all perfectly selected for each course and explained by the knowledgable and friendly server.
Absolutely loved our visit here. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing. Every course and wine pairing was described clearly by the staff. They also took into consideration our dietary requirements which was really nice. We sat outside on a warm summer evening and had a really special experience. I cant recommend the place enough.
Honestly, the best experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The setting was so intimate and the food was impeccable. Some of the best dishes I’ve ever had. I will for sure be coming back every time I visit London!
One of the best vegan meals I’ve ever had, I could tell you what it was but it’ll be different by the time you go.Just pop vegan down in the dietary requirements and they’ll server you an amazing tasting menu if vegan treats!
Very pleasant experience with simple yet thought-through dishes that focus on the ingredients. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of a gastronomic yet relaxed and local restaurant, which reflected both in the furnishing and the style of service. The food really put the ingredients at the center, without adding much spices or sugar. I particularly enjoyed the peas that somehow managed to bring back the long forgotten memories of tasting fresh peas at my grandmothers garden. The pasta dish and the paté amuse bouche were equally excellent. The other dishes were less memorable but still made to a really high standard. Including the service into the price is a great practice which further reinforces my positive experience at the restaurant. Very much recommended. My rating: 4.6.
Delicious and rich food. Satisfied also with the vegetarian tasting menu, didn’t feel like it way in any way lacking compared to meat option. Atmosphere sitting outside in summer is wonderful. This visit was a while ago so old dishes I presume.
Best dessert Ive ever tasted! Really nice and relaxed vibe too, nothing like the usual pretentious Michelin star restaurant, except top quality food. If you sit inside, you can see the chefs cooking, which is super exciting. The garden outside is really cute and quiet, in case you would like to have more space. Overall, one of my favorite places in London, really enjoyed it.
I’ve been to Casa Fofo twice. Ambience is 5 stars. Service is 5 stars. However, the food is a bit hit and miss. I would give it a 5 for the first time I went and a 3 for the 2nd time I went. Some of the dishes were amazing, some were okay, and some didn’t taste good (example: the mushroom dessert…innovative but was not pleasant). I wouldn’t have minded that I left hungry if everything was tasty.
Incredibly slow service, tables that came in after us somehow managed to get their compete tasting menus served before us and managed to leave before we got our last two courses. Just very long waiting times between some course compared to others and when we mentioned if we were forgotten about to one of the serving chefs he laughed which was bizarre. The tasting menu was just ok, presentation was lack lustre and nothing to get excited about which was disappointing. I informed the restaurant of my dietary requirement and that I could eat fish but was provided a main of pasta which was unfortunately on the raw side of al dente, and some courses were very over salted.
We came here because my partner saw that they had just earned a Michelin star and wow, this was some of the best food we’ve had in London. We do a lot of fine dining and this was fantastic. Every course had a certain twist and was original, it was an amazing experience. Together with the lovely service and the great price - an experience to be repeated. Make sure to book well in advance, this will soon no longer be a secret - if it still is! 6/5!Edit: Went again for my birthday. Spectacular. Adding some photos this time.
We had a tasting menu and it was a great experience with nicely balanced flavours. Our dishes included cattlefish dish, asparagus dish, pork loin, bread noodles, yoghurt and seaweed ice cream. They kindly took into consideration that I do not eat beef. We had kombucha drink which I would recommend and their homemade bread was perfect!+ the interior is very friendly and casual and makes you feel like home, especially the look into the kitchen is a personal touch+ tasting menu is very well balanced flavour-wise- the place is pricey with a recent increase to 55 pounds per menu (+12.5% service chargebut okay for Michelin Star restaurant
Perfect. Top quality food at a reasonable price.Every dish was inventive without being gimmicky and above all delicious. All 6 courses (with a few little extras which were a lovely surprisewere top notch.Service is genuine, friendly and attentive. Restaurant has a cosy neighbourhood feel to it. The menu changes each week which makes me excited to go again but sad I might never be able to eat some of the dishes again.
It is twice that I have now enjoyed the amazing food at Casa Fofó! And each time I have been surprised by the creativeness and boldness of the dishes! 🤩 I quite like the idea of not knowing what you are getting until it’s explained by the chef serving the dish at your table 😎 The menu had the same concept both times yet with completely different flavors. Even desserts are just not what you expect, challenging your taste buds with each bite! You just have to try it 😊 I strongly recommend trying the wine pairing as it’s a perfect complement to each dish with very surprising flavors (and colors!!). I shared one pairing with my partner at each occasion and it was a great experience with different wines each time. I have also had a chance to sit downstairs in the wine cellar and upstairs with the open kitchen. I enjoyed both, while downstairs is probably more intimate, upstairs you have the opportunity to see the chefs put the dishes together. Finally, the restaurant has a perfect ambience, very relaxed and friendly atmosphere that fits the neighborhood perfectly. It is definitely one of the most interesting places I’ve tried and looking forward to coming back already! 😊
Went there for the second time and was just impressed and blown away as the first one. Each dish is incredibly simple and complex at the same time with your everyday ingredients tasting like you’ve never imagined that they could. The quality and the creativity of the head chef never ceases to amaze. This is an experience worth going out of your way for! Will definitely be back again.
The best! lovely cosy and relaxed atmosphere and very friendly and attentive service. Food is fantastic - every dish is unexpected and delicious w wonderful choice of interesting modern wines. Have been twice and was amazing both times, will definitely come back again 🥰
Simply fabulous. Go and then book to go again. The food is exquisite. Service is charming. Only downside is you can’t buy the salted caramel butter to take home.
Fabulous dinner. We had a unique experience and we definitely come back. Casa Fofó doesnt have a menu and every dishes is a explosion of taste.Eating here is not cheap, but do not expect a normal restaurant price.. rember this is one star Michelin and unique experience.
Casa Fofó is that restaurant you want to come back every month knowing it will be surprisingly delicious without breaking the bank. This restaurant is that comfy treat you need every now and then, in a small place and yet not too intimate, not too quiet. With Chefs serving you the food it gives a warm and trusting feeling, removing that distance between you and the kitchen. We loved it.
Certainly an experience, warm and cozy inside despite the door opening so many times with cold air. I found the dishes made sense together and there is a clearly high level of work on display. The chef loves fermentation and it shows. Would be a great date spot for two foodies.
Absolutely fantastic experience, amazing value for money. Been waiting to visit that place for two years, and wasnt disappointed. The Michelin star is well deserved. There is just the set menu. I counted 6 or 7 dishes: starter, two vegetable ones, soup, main dish was lamb, and 2 or 3 different desserts.
This is hands down the best restaurant Ive been to in London. We got the tasting menu and wine pairing and felt it was very fairly priced for what you get. I also love the laid back ambiance. Highly recommend checking this place out!
🔮Potential. The tasting menu was lovely.. but not adventurous enough for the price nor the ingredients. X3 stars also becoz - the final dish/dessert wasnt nice a finale delivery sadly. Both of us were disappointed. It was almost like baby food from a jar with an over powering cinnamon flavour. Just not good sadly. Like, at all. Some people will be disappointed with a single carrot. Some people will be impressed. As far as Michelin star goes.. im not super impressed. Money to blow on ridiculous experiences sure. Try it.Service was lovely. The waitress was very attentive and clear. 👌🏾 and the wine 👌🏾 the Red Cabernet was lovely.
What an experience!Casa Fofo took me on a journey of flavours with their amazing courses and wine pairings.
Visited earlier this week for a bit of a special occasion, and can confidently say this was the best food I have ever eaten!!Absolutely superb! It really is gonna take some beating!Sat in the front part of the restaurant with the open kitchen which was really cool to be able to see all the food put together and the man himself working on the pass!Wine selection was great (didn’t do the pairingbut the food was just something else… unfortunately can’t remember what every course was but hopefully the picture do it justice…It’s a little out of the way for me (Hackney Downs v Waterloobut it was well worth the 3 tubes and an overground to get there… I’m gonna try and get back this side of Xmas for another bash!!Divine!!
Indeed an extraordinary experience. Food prepared with the highest standards of technique, flavors and textures . A cozy ambience with an open kitchen right by the entrance. The Service was impeccable. My special thanks to Marika who served us and went us through the wine pairing with all the patience and a lot of knowledgeThanks for the whole team
Great value for a Michelin star restaurant. Laid back vibes. Inventive menu designs with lots of Japanese, Korean flavours, non-tacky fusion flavours. Super delicious.
An adventure in fermentation, organic unfiltered wines, fermented fruit and vegetables and the best 90 day aged beef I have had in a long time.
A wonderful experience. Very good value for a Michelin star restaurant , a six course (although there were two little bites asidetasting menu for £45. The chefs came out to describe each course, which was beautifully presented. The flavours were incredible, they make their own pickles in house which were used in some courses. Can’t wait to go back and try a different menu as it changes each day.
Ive had this place on my radar for a while and am so glad we went when we did. Its absolutely tiny and has such a lovely vibe. I wish wed managed to get a seat in the garden as that looked gorgeous, but the main dining room is good for people watching the road outside. The menu seems to change daily and was a steal at £45 for 6(ishcourses. We started with sourdough and dreamy whipped caramelised butter - I couldve kept eating that all meal but it wasnt refilled (probably a good thing as Id have filled up on bread.First dish was a gorgeous sea bass ceviche, then aubergine cooked in lamb fat, followed by truffle pasta. Main was perfectly pink lamb with a side of congee (textured like a risotto rather than a gloopy breakfast dish). Dessert was a highlight with a refreshing yogurt jelly with sweet strawberry ice, followed by treacly black garlic ice cream and crumble. Portions are small, so its definitely not a tasting menu where you leave stuffed, but we were very satisfied and loved every dish.We adored the wine pairings as well and I absolutely recommend getting this. Its super affordable at £38 (less than a bottleand you get 6 really interesting glasses. We split one between two of us, as Im a lightweight, which made it even better value. We started with an Italian sparkling, then a refreshing white that paired beautifully with the ceviche, then a light red, then a super interesting palomino white (tasted like sherry), then a very dark red and finished with a gorgeous French dessert wine. Some of them paired better than others, but the entire experience was the absolute highlight of the meal.Definitely some areas to improve. The service isnt quite spot on and seamless although it was clear one of the waiters was new. The pace of the meal also slowed down a lot at one point as it was clear the kitchen fell behind, but this didnt bother us. We also were never given a menu with the dishes that day (there was one up by the door, but it was an old menuwhich was annoying as we never saw what we were eating. Im sure it was increase in popularity (and pricesoon though, so I highly recommend going now.
Wonderful, delicious tasting menu - thoughtful food and so many interesting flavours! Started with wonderful homemade sourdough with the most amazing caramelised butter and just got better from there. Unpretentious, friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend!
My fave restaurant in London since open. Would love to return now that they had their 1st well deserved Michelin star. Cozy place, they have a back garden that they plant some of their green, taste is amazing, food and wine are delicious. A Michelin star tasting menu that you want to eat more!
Wow wow wow! Had the best night and the most incredible food here (pictures dont do it justice!). Wonderful Japanese touch, perfection in each plate and super special dishes. Cozy neighborhood atmosphere and extremely welcoming staff. Loved it!
Wow! What a special dining experience! Went to celebrate my boyfriend and a friends birthdays and was not disappointed ; beautiful food both on taste and presentation, wonderful wine pairing, excellent non pretentious service and lovely atmosphere sitting in the covered garden area. Highly recommend for a special meal out.
Nice neighbourhood restaurant with a Michelin star.Only set menu - when we visited.Tasty food , all servings were one-two bites. The value for money is reasonable. The prices on wine are very good.Service is ok , but def not a 1 Michelin star level ( front of house working with their normal clothes, never refilling your water, not so attentive etc).
Didn’t realise this was Michelin until after the meal and the whole time we were saying it should have a star! Cute little unsuspecting place with inventive menu - loved the little Japanese bits!
An amazing culinary experience in a beautifully set garden. The set menu was divine, in particular, the second pollock dish. Highly recommend.
Incredible food, fantastic wine pairings, friendly knowledgeable service and all for a great price. Highly recommend getting a garden table if the great British weather holds. Will definitely go back and have already recommended to a number of friends.
What a find! The menu was incredible and such good value. There wasnt a dud dish on the menu and that rare place where the food makes us so happy
Tiny and cozy, nice atmosphere that feels like a dinner at home. Would recommend for a date - better suited for couples, only had space for a few 4 table spots. Food was good and the menu was very interesting and reasonably priced. My favorite was the french toast with liver pate. The main was ok but not mind blowing - pork that was well prepared but nothing extraordinary. Very good wine list as well, recommend pairing, generous selection too!
Looking for a cosy, romantic and authentic restaurant? You’ve found it here. Thoughtful and tasty food, with alternatives for specific dietary requirements. Selection of wines. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Take your girlfriend, wife or mum, they’ll love it. Delightful.
we had one of the best tasting menus ever at casa fofo. every dish was a winner in terms of flavour, but really blew us away were the very unusual yet utterly delicious combinations. in particular, the jerusalem artichoke ice cream with vietnamese coffee (really!!!and the tortellini filled with almond paste (and if an Italian says it works, it does work! :). nice vibe, super service, 5* through and through!
The food was ok. Some dishes were really good, some ok and some we did not enjoy much. Its a tasting 7 step menu with the option to add 2 extras (charcuterie and cheese). Dishes are quite small and we left feeling still hungry (we added the charcuterie but not the cheese board). I think that the major problem is the delay in between steps. It took way over 2 hours to go through the steps. This delay did nothing but make us hungrier and hungrier. The best dishes were by far the ex-dairy cow (way too small thoughand the tomato. The grape, raspberry and mascarpone dessert was very good as well. We did not enjoy at all the pasta dish. The pasta was undercooked and chewy and the fish overpowered the whole dish. All in all it was a mixed experience but unfortunately do not feel the need to go back for more.
