House museum built in 1520s for Spanish conquistador Ponce de León, who died before its completion.
Beautiful place for a wedding!
Be sure to walk around the premises and not just the museum.
Beautiful space with lots of history
Loved this place! I am puertorrican and did not know this place exist. Beautiful gardens, interesting historical place and very nice tour guide at the museum.
Really beautiful place. Fascinating history. Worthwhile stop.
Such beautiful place but laking maintenance. I hope its brought back to its original glory.
Interesting house, with parts of the house dating back to a fort originally built on this site in the 1520s. The house was repeatedly expanded over the years. The museum signage speaks exclusively to the construction techniques used in the house. There is only a small amount of furnishings. I would have loved to hear more of the story of the people who lived here and their role in the history of Puerto Rico. What would it be like to visit the Troche family in 1700? Great views. Some reviews mention cats; the cats are in a nearby park but not on the grounds of the home.
Very cool place, very clear and simple history, great looking, and cool looking garden.
Beautiful, historical building with a lovely courtyard.
Highly recommend! Great little museum with spectacular views and gardens.
Easy to explore the inside museo and gardens in front and back of house in less than 2 hours. Gorgeous grounds with spectacular sights for picture-taking. Very nice staff.
I saved the best part for the last day is absolutely amazing, I am tried to visit a lot.Note: I have no idea why Google suggests 1,5 hours … including an extensive stay in their wonderful Gardens, it took me about 45 minutes
Not worth the ticket. We love museums and exploring but this one was very disappointing. You can explore the grounds and the exterior of the building without the $5 ticket. The ticket gives you access to I side the building that has some of the old furniture there and an exhibit upstairs deacribi g how the casa Blanca was expanded over the decades.
Great piece of history. Bring cash for entrance. While not expensive, they will not take a credit card. Do not miss the garden.
Very nice location went in Dec 2021 gardens are nice but not in full bloom. Condition of building are good to very good. The property and buildings have a long and interesting history that is over 400 yrs old.
Beautiful grounds to walk around for free. Peaceful and quiet. You can take a paid tour if you choose.
The grounds are beautiful and expand well beyond the museum itself. Many different views of the bay and Old San Juan. The building is restored in a way that tells the full story of its construction, expansion, renovation, and uses over the ~440 years it was occupied. In each part of the building, one or more sections of wall are exposed to reveal the original construction techniques of the corresponding time period.
Enjoyed the tour of the house and the historic information provided. Worth a quick visit.
First time visiting Puerto Rico and it was amazing. So me and my wife visited Casa Blanca the last day before we fly back and it was really cool, around the area is a cat park, where they are many cats hanging around and living. And also there is a musuem which is free and have a lot of cool things to see and a lot of pictures to take
This beautiful house is one of the first houses in Puerto Rico and it was built for the first governor Juan Ponce de Leon. It has a awesome view of the bay
The admission fee was $5 per adult, but the exterior ground is open to visitors without the admission fee. I didnt have time to do the tour of the interior, but it was great just to be able to stroll the garden and enjoy the ocean view. Its a quite place to relax and take a rest, and I recommend it if you want to get out of the more crowded touristy areas.
It was interesting to see this historic home where Ponce de Leon once lived. The best things were the ocean breeze through the open windows to cool down and the quiet, secluded garden with fountains and benches to sit quietly, listen to the birds and water and cool off. The restroom was clean and the docent was pleasant and knowledgeable.
Beautiful and tranquil. Worth $5 admission. Built for Ponce De Leon, but he never lived there. However, three generations of his family did. Built in 1521 for the first governor of PR. Then a tiny one room wood abode serving as a refuge from Taino rebels. Burnt down. Rebuilt with stone, clay.
A fabulous historic house with informative wall texts about the history of the building and an evocative (if sparseselection of period furnishings. The compound offers gorgeous views of San Juan Bay and the surrounding streets; you wont find many other visitors, and we had the place to ourselves during our short visit. Highly recommended as a supplement to Morro fortress!
Great old house. Would have liked more info about the items on display
The oldest building in Puerto Rico. Yes other guns running on to the area forming the 4th there.
Beautiful historic house. Ponce De Leon ancestors lived in the property.
The White House in old town San Juan
We really enjoyed this self guided tour. The property is the old family home for Ponce De Leon, but it was not completed before he died so he never actually lived there. It is situated overlooking the San Juan bay. As you can see from the photos, it is just a beautiful place to wander. Well worth a trip. Please consider liking this review if it was helpful.Enjoy San Juan!
one of the best venues in Puerto Rico. It is unique, well taken care of. A colonial feel and an insane view over the bay. A beautiful long fountain is the perfect backdrop for an outdoor ceremony. Every corner is filled with greenery. Definitely recommended if you are getting married.
Wonderful historic place right in the heart of Old San Juan. Build in 1521 it was the house of Juan Ponce De Leon. It has great view to the bay and romantics gardens.
The hidden garden is just delightful. A peaceful respite in the shade!
This place was being beautiful! Im all about plants and nature. Being here brought me back to my roots and peace. I loved going through a time lapse and history of casa Blanca. My now finance and and got engaged just this year on September 28th, 2019. It was a beautiful moment and view!
A beautiful house once home to Juan Ponce de Leon et al that now serves as a museum. Enjoy the peace and quiet and fabulous views of San Juan from the balconies and walk through the surrounding gardens. Easy to get to and inexpensive to go in. Well-worth a visit if you want to soak up some culture without overloading.
Nice views and the tourist guy was very informative! Lindo El tour y Las vistas
A small entry fee to see this Beautiful castle, view of the ocean and gardens..
Cute historic house in the middle of Old San Juan. Definitely not busy and it’s a nice escape for a few relaxing moments from the crowd. You can find some great views of the ocean and city from its windows.
Its small museum with a lovely garden.Unfortunately exposition doesnt have a lot of explanation or comments
Beautiful area in Old San Juan. Very nice gardens.
Ponce de Leones house in Old San Juan.
Great little historical site with charming gardens and fountains.
Nice sight. I would recommend on a city tour of Puerto Rico. Awesome spot to be when you are walking down and trying to catch some of the sights that this amazing city has to offer. Great spot - much more quiet as well - compared to the more touristy areas and the stores on the way to the cruise ports.
Beautiful views! Amazing Gardens! Wonderful expierience everytime. I went here with my art class and it was phenomenal! I would totally recomend to come on down here!
Loved this place! Its nice to see this historical site and read the story behind it. The staff are knowledgeable to answer my questions.
Gorgeous colonial palace with sweeping views of san juan bay and a serene water garden.
I absolutely love it! Great learning experience! Also, the garden is to die for!
Beautiful hidden gem in old san juan. Romantic gardens with gorgeous views of the harbor and el morro. Lots of history to offer in the museum buildings as well.
Got a tour of casa Blanca for $3. Tour was given by José David, who was very knowledgeable about the history of the building and Puerto Rico in general. Come visit Casa Blanca while in Old San Juan. You will learn about Puerto Rico and some of its history.
Reached this place by accident. Never had heard of this museum. Although facilities need improvement I have to admit that essence of it is outstanding (well if your a history geek). Definitely will visit again to see the different artistic movements that take place here.
A quieter museum in Old San Juan. The interiors were basically undamaged by the storms, and the gardens have since been returned to an appreciable state. Excellent for learning about construction styles changing over the centuries. Also great for picturesque views of the water and old town in general. Lovely cats roaming about too!
