Its a good place and I love the beer selection. I wish the sandwiches were more original and it had a higher standard for ingredients and flavor. Id pay 15 a sandwich for that but its plain and the price seems high for these reasons. I go back, but not as often as I would if the bread was fresh from a quality bakery and the meets and veggies were crafted with care. Just my opinion, might be unpopular

Liked the beer-on-tap selection and cans to go, nice little hidden back patio. I thought my sandwich was decent.

Awesome signature Reuben and Mexican coffee stout. Couldn’t believe it wasn’t busier on a weekend.

Sandwiches were good but the experience was ruined by the rude staff who kept trying to rush us to order and then made a racist comment about not accepting Mexican ids ( we are not Mexican and our ids were USA government ids.. yikes . Don’t tell people it is okay to come in and order and then go out of your way to make them uncomfortable.

Sorry for the low rating but the reuben had nothing do with an authentic reuben

Basic, overpriced. 12 dollar ruben was delivered soggy and untoasted.

Incredibly rude staff ! I said hi 3x to this lady and she truly acted like I bothered her and I should just hurry up and tell her why I’m here ! Then when she gave me my food she sat it on the counter, no here you go, thank you, or have a good day pretty much just a get out. We all know ho the south siders feel about black people though so probably just how she feels. Either way when behind counter she represent restaurant so that’s the experience I received from the restaurant .

Great sandwiches on the Southside. If you are there afterwork, they have an excellent beer selection.

Showed up at 8:25 on a Sunday. I tried to order a cocktail that was on the menu, and was told it would make too many dishes. I tried to order a sandwich and was told "Look, Im the only one working here. Kitchen is closed." Delivered neither a deli or bar experience. Will not be back.

My favorite local spot in Southside - great sandwiches and even better beers! Wide selection of bottles and drafts, love going for happy hour 5-7pm weekdays.

Absolutely phenomenal. Been here twice now. Great selection of very tasty beers, and both sandwiches I had were delicious.The staff is friendly, kind, and FAST. Even when theyre a little busy.Whenever I return to Pittsburgh, this will be my place. Thanks guys!

Fantastic deli. Really enjoyed the beer selection. The sandwich selection is absolutely massive so I asked the bartender what his favorite was and absolutely wasnt disappointed. The Beast sandwich was wonderful. My friend got the Italian sandwich and it was wonderful as well. Ill definitely be back at some point in the near future

This is a fantastic place for lunch or dinner. We usually get takeout and grab a six pack to go. They have a large beer assortment, with a lot of unique beers that I haven’t seen in the Pittsburgh area, as well as a lot of local options. Portions are huge for a great price.

Nice place, clean and they serves clowns. I have an Italian hoagie which was good. The staff was nice and I got my sandwich quickly.

Great sandwich and beer. I got the New Yorker which had pastrami, corned beef, Swiss, and spicy mustard on rye. They had good variety for the beer flight, and were also giving out free samples from local places.

Large beer selection and awesome food. Our party had the Reuben, Grilled Cheese, and Dizzy Lizzy and everything was very good.

I had the “Three Little Pigs” sandwich and it was amazing. It may be the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Really cool spot for lunch. Just don’t forget to pay before you leave! You order cafe style, then sit down, eat, then pay.

I just moved from Newark, NJ and am currently 9 months pregnant. I was craving a little taste of home and wanted a hot pastrami sandwich! I found this beautiful deli based off the other reviews and was not disappointed at all! The hot pastrami sandwich literally satisfied every ounce of craving I had and then some! Mommy and baby were extremely happy. The peanut butter cookie was also delicious! The staff are super nice and friendly. The whole environment is very welcoming. I honestly wish I could give more stars.

It was so good I forgot to take pics of my sandwich. Really causal place and they have a HUGE craft beer selection in bottles and cans. I was a bit confused how the ordering works, but my friend whod been there before helped me out. You order at the front and then have a seat wherever you choose. They bring it to you and you pay at the counter when you leave. I got the Montezumas Revenge. It was chicken, peppers, spicy cheese all in a grilled pita. It was so so so good. Definitely a must try.

Best Reuben Ive ever had!

This is the best kept secret of the South Side...right when you come in, super chill music, friendly staff, extremely relaxed atmosphere.The food? I had The Beast, a hot roast beef sandwich with roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, and a Chipotle Mayo...it honestly took me back to the nineties, when there werent so many chains and there were a lot of mom and pop sandwich shops. The bread was toasted and crispy, all of the ingredients were perfectly prepared...you could tell the people making this sandwich cared whether you liked it. I was in heaven.Great drinks too, with awesome weird niche alcohol selections, like really crazy sour beers, mead from Apis (another Pittsburgh best-of), flavorful stouts...much more adventurous than the tired selection of IPAs most places offer up.On top of all of this, the prices were really reasonable. I got out of there for 20ish dollars plus tip with a great sandwich/beer combo that left me feeling well-fed and energized.Definitely check it out. This place is incredible. One of the real hidden gems of the Burgh.

I love to come here and never had a bad experience until tonight. I double checked your website for your hours of operation and checked the door before walking in. It was posted on both places 10pm. I came in at 8pm to grab a sandwich and was told they were closed and got turned away. Im very unhappy, if your hours have changed you need to post them.

No clue what happened here. Me and my girl are not going to change our previous reviews, but Ive been going here since I was a teen. My sandwiches showed up, they forgot the egg salad and lettuce. So I got two chicken and tomato sandwiches. Not a big deal. I called the store. Got hung up on. Then some kid named Steve who is the manager started getting flustered and screaming for no reason. I figured it was just a one off thing, then I saw that its a whole new ownership group of the shop. Terrible. This is NOT your mamas Carson Street Deli

How have I not rated you guys yet?Carson street deli is amazing. Their food is absolutely amazing. Eveything is always fresh and made to order.They have a TON of great local craft beer on tap, and a fridge with cans /bottles to make your own 6 pack.If you have friends from out of town visit, bring them here. They will love you.Veggie tip: the veggie burger is my go-to! Its a blackbean southwest style with tomatoes, lettuce and honey mustard. I add red peppers and 15 pickles.

Order the Carson St. Reuben. It is out of this world. All of the sandwiches in this place are delicious. Plus, they have great craft beers on tap as well.

Best tap list in Pittsburgh and the sandwiches rival anything Ive had anywhere. The staff, though, is the best part of this place. Cant wait to sit at the bar again.

I LOVE The Carson Street Deli! I have been getting food from there for many years and the quality is always consistent and never waivers. For the longest time, I ALWAYS got the the Carson Street Reuben, which is really their staple sandwich. But, I have since branched out and now move around the menu like it is a dart board. From the Mark Cuban to the Bourne Farm to the Real New Yorkers New Yorker to the Cheesy Beefy to the Dizzy Lizzy and on and on......this is my go to for an amazing deli sandwich. Located in the heart of the historic district on the South Side of Pittsburgh this hidden gem never disappoints. AND, if you like craft beer, they have a very nice draft selection and a great back wall filled with an amazing selection. Oh! Everyone that works there is top notch. Support local and please go. You will not be disappointed.

This place is so good! They are one of the best places for a sandwich in the Burgh. The bread is really a selling point for me. It is always fresh and delicious. Really a great restaurant.

Always a great spot for lunch. The sandwiches are delicious as is the wide selection of draft and bottled beer. I don’t live in the area anymore but I always make it a point to stop when I’m in town. On my most recent visit the PoBoy said sold out outline. In my notes I requested if somehow they had one I’d really appreciate it because it is my favorite sandwich. It was a Christmas miracle! Thanks for some how fulfilling this request!

Always one of my favorite places to get food!The sandwiches are so delicious — The Balboa is probably my favorite.The 1/2-sandwich + cup of soup Combo Deal is fabulous. If they’re ever serving the Thai Carrot Ginger soup, GET IT!Their sandwich features are also not your run-of-the-mill sandwiches, but delish.I’m also a fan of their Broccoli Carbonara. I’ve been known to walk down just to get a side of the Broccoli Carb to go. 😂I don’t drink, but I am really impressed by the collection of beers they have available to drink there or build a 6-pack to take home. You may even discover a new favorite microbrew.Also, during the pandemic, they have been adhering to all guidelines to keep their staff and customers as safe as possible.

We have eaten here several times and it is always delicious. Weve only done carryout but looking forward to eating in and having a beer. Their sandwiches are great, the best pickles, and their soup is so good. We are always looking for places to get soup and their soup is our fav. So far weve had vegetable (my fav), chili (so good), and jambalaya(husbands fav). Go here if you havent!

I have been a fan of the deli for years and visit at least 3 days a week. The beer selection is by FAR the best in the entire city. The food is awesome. I have eaten almost every sandwich on the menu and they are all made with quality, detail, and only the freshest meats and veggies. The staff is amazing. Over the years people come and go, but they get it right. If u like a quality sandwich good beer, and the complete package just come to THE deli in the Southside

Stopped in for dinner while on a week long trip to Pittsburgh for work. Great menu with the always exciting "build your own" option (which I chose, so I cant comment on any of the predetermined sandwiches). Everything you need from a sandwich shop was present; fresh bread, fresh meat, great selection of toppings, and a variety of condiments. Add to it a plethora of beers and cocktails and fantastic, friendly service, and you get a place thats worth visiting more than once.

We dont live in Pittsburgh... but we have been there 3 times for various reasons. Found this place the first time there and have come back to it each time. All 3 times, it would 5 stars for food and service. Its actually my favorite sandwich shop in the US

Not one to do reviews but after being there a few times I had to. I got the Reuben and it was delicious. The hummus and pita is like crack and I keep finding myself there to get it. The establishment is very nice and they have a great craft beer selection as well as 6 pack craft beers for sale. The staff has always been friendly when I’ve been there. Recommend it to anyone who wants great food, good beer, and a great atmosphere.

I decided to stop in for a deli sandwich today. I chose the Balboa. What a sandwich!! It included sopressata, imported dilusso genoa salami, prosciutto, spicy capicola, and hard salami on a french baguette with provolone, oil & oregano, roasted red peppers. Talk about a great deli sandwich! The sopressata reminded me of the first time I ate it as a teenager. The roasted red peppers were very sweet and paired well with the spicy capicola. My sides of choice were macaroni salad which was very tasty and a bag of smokehouse bbq chips. All that was chased with a bottle of water. If you want a top notch deli sandwich they have a large menu to choose from. The ambiance is matchless and they played a good selection of music as well. You owe it to yourself to stop in!!

This is the best place in town to get a sandwich. Wonderful selection of beers and a great variety always on tap. The environment is relaxed and quiet. Their staple sandwiches are the best Ive ever had and customers can also customize to make whatever sandwich they want.

A Pittsburgh treasure. Their beer list is legendary, not for its size (although it is not smallbut for its quality. I sometimes get two consecutive flights of 5 beers each and still leave without trying all the beers I wanted to try. And their sandwiches are really good!!

Love this place. A little pricey, but you get HUGE, FRESH, sandwiches. This should be the sandwich joint people in Pittsburgh freak out about, not Primantis. Their food is locally sourced and always taste so, so fresh. They have a great selection of beer and the friendliest service. I come here often for lunch with my boyfriend and when I move away from Pittsburgh, this will be the one restaurant I miss!
