Not sure if this is a “locals” place but we didn’t feel welcomed. We sat at the bar and the bartender was cordial but not real attentive. Another server kept stacking dirty glasses in front of me waiting to be put in the dishwasher. The drinks were ok, but the vibe wasn’t what we were expecting given the reviews.

Best bar in downtown. The mixologists are insane with talent. I love all of them and come not only for the amazing cocktails, but to see their lovely faces! The bar gets busy on the weekend, but they do an amazing job taking care of everyone. I am always so impressed. My husband and I sit at the bar specifically just to watch them mix and appreciate the craft. They deserve all of the stars in the world just for what they do. As for the drinks, my husband and I have been trying to order every drink on their menu, but we have so many favorites now that we might abandon that idea. I recommend the Cucumber Gimlet or Raspberry Collins if you want something light to start. The Green Horn and Paloma are tasty and give a quick buzz that is long lasting. If you are big into tequila like me, the Albatross and Nevertheless are my go to drinks always!

This intimate bar is a great must-stop bar in the downtown Sioux Falls area. Great staff and mixologists that will concoct the perfect drink for you no matter what your likes are.

The questions Google Maps asks are not really applicable here 100%. This is a fine craft cocktail bar. While there are snacks available: pretzels, spiced bar nuts, and an amazing curated cheese board, this is not a restaurant.The focus is on the cocktails. Make sure you try an Old Fashioned (or dont, it might ruin them everywhere else for you!). Definitely try the Common Knowledge summer ice tea. Its so good!

Amazing unique drinks in a great atmosphere. Had a fantastic cocktail called the Hot Ultra Violet, contains Deaths Door Gin, Green Chartreuse, honey, lemon, butterfly pea flowers, orange peel... absolutely delicious

Count on the ambience, well made cocktails and price. Grab a seat while you can it’s full most times I’ve been but also been times where it’s nice and quiet.

Pretty amazing little gem I found while in town! Friendly staff but weren’t quite attentive and only came back to the table once when I asked for the check, they seemed understaffed. Still- I would return when I’m back in town. The old fashion is amazing!

Small establishment with the best atmosphere in Sioux Falls for quality drinks. I cant recommend Carpenter Bar enough and I am so glad that Sioux Falls has a bar of this quality. Ive only been of legal drinking age for four years now but Ive heard stories from my parents about how dead Sioux Falls downtown used to be. Places like Carpenter Bar give much needed energy and life to our downtown! Thank you so much for your excellent services.

I LOVED this place. Bartender was excellent, great lighting, great music, great atmosphere and above all amazing drinks. I was lucky enough to enjoy one of the best presented and best tasting pours of Bourbon I’ve EVER had! The only negative thing was on the second pour I wasn’t asked if I’d prefer a new beautiful square ice block, which I would have. But that barely tarnishes what this place is. I’ve traveled around the world and this bar is EASILY in my top 5.Thank you:)

Impressive team! I love how everyone works so smoothly together in such a tight space to make the best cocktails together. Their cocktails rival some of the best of Detroit even! Such a cozy atmosphere with prompt service and a very impressive group of people. What a wonderful gem to find and a must try if youre in the area.

This is my first time in Sioux Falls. This place is amazing! I had the Long Island tea. It was so good! We sat outside. The service was very friendly! I highly recommend this place!

Stopped in a for a cocktail before dinner. I had the old fashioned and my wife had the cucumber gimlet. My drink was pretty good, but my wifes was really good! Server was kind and timely.

This is a great place. If what you desire is a casual yet sophisticated place to appreciate a cocktail crafted by people who care this is your den of iniquity. I appreciate that its owned by people from the community that have a good reputation for for finely crafted cocktails. Im a simple bourbon person myself and their list of available whiskeys is enticing to be sure. I miss smoking cigars here when it was a cigar bar but youd never know the history of the place if aroma is a concern for you. A well done local place with a classy demeanor.

Great drinks. Customer service could be worked on though. We were the unfortunate bystanders of watching the wait staff tell a small group, which included parents who had a young child with them, that they weren’t welcome to sit outside because of said child. The staff could have been more discrete about sharing their policy. All it did was make the rest of us and them uncomfortable for no reason.

Mortified. A small group of friends and I were looking forward to having a beer on their patio. Our friends, that we haven’t seen in year, that rave about this place, have children (well behaved). As we began to sit a bartender came out and loudly announced to my friends that children aren’t welcome, turns out it is their policy not a law. Our friends felt embarrassed and frankly, discriminated against. We agree. If it isn’t a law, then it is the owner’s preference, which is discriminatory. Not how they see it apparently. We went somewhere else for a drink. People can have unruly animals on the patio but quiet children aren’t welcome? Right. In addition, our fellow beer drinkers didn’t have an issue. We even began swapping tables with another couple to allow for our large party. I am blown away at how they (up until then-repeat customerswere approached and treated.

I went there with my significant other in a Saturday afternoon for a couple drinks and we ordered some cocktails czwe love to see what bars have to offer in terms of mixed drinks. The outside seating area of the bar gives a nice view of the area. The drinks are well made and the albums is great for summer evening! My personal favorite was the bar nuts that one can order with the drinks! The charcuterie board was also a very nice addition to handsome devil and the hummingbird cocktails! The bartenders are very helpful and check on you regularly. We went again the following week! I think we might become regulars there everytime we visit soon falls!

Loving atmosphere, astonishingly friendly staff, an intimate warm patio, with phenomenal drinks. The bartenders and servers make great recommendations if youre not sure what to have. They have a variety of signature cocktails that change with the seasons but will still blow your mind with the classics. Wonderful experience every visit. The drinks may be a few dollars more than youre expecting, but the quality more than makes up for it by a long shot. 10/10 highly recommend.

Stopped in for after dinner cocktail and so glad we did. This small classic bar has a nice intimate atmosphere and friendly knowledgeable bar tenders. They make classic cocktails as well as specialty craft cocktails with house made mixers. Nice outdoor patio that is pet friendly.

Best place for a basic G&T in town; staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and make drinks like no other; Lukas has made me many a gin cocktail and they are the best, drink selection is divine, everything from cocktails to wine to beer, come here if you like a classier place with a more casual vibe!

Cool spot, but a bit cramped when its busy. Excellent selection of top end spirits. I do wish theyd make the beer offerings more obvious- I seriously have no idea whats on tap here. That isnt their focus, obviously, but it would be nice. The three quarters nelson is my go to here.

Amazing cocktails. It is a quaint cozy little cocktail bar with great mixers. Not to mention the bartenders are beyond amazing and definitely knowledgeable. For some the drinks may be on the more expensive end of the spectrum but definitely a go to place.

Great cocktails here. Just know going in it takes time to make the drinks, so service may be slightly slow (not bad, but its not like they just go pull every drink out of a cooler). Most drinks they make are made from scratch and are fantastic. One of the better places for a cocktail in town in my opinion. Nice place with great ambiance.

We were just passing through town and stopped here for a drink. The cocktail menu was diverse and I easily found something something that was slightly outside my comfort zone but still sounded good. I had the Raspberry Collins and really enjoyed it. The decor is dark and stylish.

Great addition to downtown Sioux Falls! Inside is beautiful decor, bar seats, some booths, and intimate tables. (Mix of modern and vintage feel, so well done.They offer a unique craft cocktail menu with seasonal drinks and table service. Also on the menu is a whiskey/bourbon/scotch selection your grandfather would be proud of (or grandmother...), great bottled wine list, an at least a few local beers on tap. Definitely a destination for a quality drink! Limited food for now but stay tuned as I think they will be adding on cheese/charcuterie and such. Patio seating outside is lovely and cocktails are priced below what Id expect for the quality. Service is awesome - so professional and knowledgeable!
