Totally remodeled into modern accommodations. Very reasonably priced.

Extremely Poor Customer Service. We were denied check in on arrival and we were told to come back in 2 hours even though we already arrived an hour after our confirmed check in time. Couldnt cancel the room either. Would not recommend.

Great Location. Too bad owner doesnt seem to like people or running a business. Restaurant has been closed since new owner took over months ago, still has all signs to draw people in. We planned our visit for our anniversary very much looking forward to our stay. We were moved without our knowledge from king room to two double bed. Appears most tooms are being convered to this style however we were not informed upon booking nor of the restaurants closure. Additionally we were charged extra pet fee for our registered service animal. Very disappointing, not friendly or welcoming.

I really wish I could rate this as 0 star. First my ac wasn’t working and it took hours to fix now my toilet isn’t working and the rude obnoxious guy working at front desk told me it was my fault so now I guess I’m going outside! Thanks for ruining my vacation

Courteous owner and very cleaned room with a gorgeous view of Huron lake.

Room was nice and clean, door was very sticky and the wifi would not reach our room (room 12but absolutely stunning view of the lake, and beach access, was VERY disappointed that the restaurant was shut down, the website and out front of the motel it says it’s open… when mentioned staff did not seem to care. And most restaurants in general area close between 6pm and 8pm so definitely something to watch for. Overall average service and a nice stay.

Beautiful beach with an even more amazing sunset! I wish the restaurant would have been open for dinner and to watch the sunset. The room was very clean and the washroom brand new. Amazing beach to enjoy!

Location is good but the rest is all bad. The owner is rude, haughty and greedy beyond reason with a touch of racism. He charged 35 more for room without reason. Food was extremely overpriced and bad. Room was dirty and linen was unchanged. Bath tub was full of hair and nails. WiFi doesnt work. A horrible experience with only positive was the lake view. I will never stay at this place again and will advice others to spend their money elsewhere.

Benji living his best life. What a gem of a property. The new owners are making improvements, my room was newly renovated and our stay was comfortable, safe, clean and very Benji (and family, solo, female, LGBTQ+friendly with a deserted private #dogfriendly beach! Not to mention a great location to explore for a few days, 24 hour check-in for when you get stuck for hours on hwy69 and a delicious restaurant onsite.Anyone looking for a job? Theyre starved for help in such a small community.

The guy that checked me in may have been the cheap owner. No A/C in the dining room. It was so warm I ate dinner in my room. The food was of poor quality. I reserved 2 rooms for 2 nights but only needed 1 room for 1 night. He required that I pay for the full reservation. He had my credit card and hit me for the full amount. Never again.Also, he knew I was coming in a big truck. This means I can’t park near my room. My room was the second furthest room to walk to.Never again.

It is a wonderful place. If you looking for simplicity that a good hotel. No luxury but the view and the beach are fabulous scenarios.

Stopped here on our way to Algonquin for just one night. Check in was easy and the owner was kind and helpful. Upon first look it didnt seem like much, but the bed was very comfortable. It slept two tall adults well! The best part was the ability for us to have a fire on the beach. We watched a stunning sunset and roasted hot dogs until the bugs came out. Overall a great experience and stay!

Its a nice clean little oasis, I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were nice, the restaurant was great, with a beautiful view of the lake. And the view from the bedroom was like a postcard!I was with my son on motorcycles and would definitely go back in the car with my wife.

Arrived at hotel very late after a failed attempt at camping. Owner was super friendly and easy going. Room is bigger than most hotel rooms and very clean. Our room was 10’ away from lake Huron. Beautifull views right out the back window. Highly recommend.

We recently stayed here and there were some positives and also negatives to our stay. The rooms were freezing when we arrived. The heat worked but then to be turned off during the day(even though it was coldas no heat was produced by the baseboard heaters. There was no screen in the bathroom window so we couldnt open the window to allow fresh air in...lots of bugs...but thats to be expected in the bush.If your ordering food, its great if there only a few items or orders. If they are busy or many orders placed at once the quality definitely wasnt the same. Internet... the wifi worked outside....but NOT in the rooms and this is with the "New" Starlink satellite...and the owner would not hear anything different other that it was our fault/issue.The beds arent high end but no bed bugs!! Thats a BONUS!!! Bring your own blankets if you like the comforter type as the blankets provided are very thin and only one.The room cleaner works VERY hard and the rooms show and smell her results! The view is amazing and to have use of the fire pits and areas were clean and fantastic.For the price of the room and realistic expectations for a motel of the hwy.. I would definitely stay again I just would be more prepared.Also wanted to note...if you book through Expedia you WILL be treated differently ... this from experience with 2 nights..1 through Expedia which I paid less and 1 not which I paid 20$ more..

Good rooms and a nice view on the lake. But if you depend on internet to plan your trip - there is WiFi but its not connected to the internet. Sadly the manager doesnt understand the difference...We had a short stop some days later on the way back (after the brand new internet was installed). Sadly there was nothing changed. Still the same network, with the same passwords and the same missing connection to the internet.

Lovey spot that’s easy to find right off the highway, yet still has a lovely view of the water. We stayed one night and had a lovely dinner that was very good. The TV in our room didn’t work and the owner was very apologetic and went above and beyond to fix it for us. Rooms are clean and bed was very comfy. Highly recommend!!

This is one of our regular stops going to and coming back from the east coast. The owners are exceedingly kind-hearted. The rooms are clean. The food is delicious! I highly recommend the fish and chips. The best I have ever had. The very best part is the location. The view from the room is unbelievable. Highly recommend.

Clean and comfortable room with a beautiful view of the lake. Affordable and friendly, just off the highway but felt very calm and quiet. Perfect stop on our roadtrip west. We had dinner at the restaurant, and it was excellent. Highly recommend for an overnight stop!

Stayed here in fall of 2020, decent clean place. Prices were good, food was good. Met some fellow bikers. Recommend stay for the start of hwy 129 north.

We were arriving late and the owner was more then helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Great view of the water. Price was very fair. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

We are driving across Canada and this is by far the nicest place we have stayed. Very clean. The view from your room is fantastic. Nice little sandy beach. And 30 dollars cheaper than any other place we have stayed. About an hour outside of Sault St Marie. Its worth it to stay here.

Beautiful views of Lake Huron from the room, and excellent location off the highway for travellers. Our bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaned really well. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant when we arrived.We weren’t especially impressed with the potent smell of smoke that was throughout our room even though it was a non-smoking room. Unsure of the cause- a rule breaking guest prior to our arrival or someone down the hall? It didn’t make us comfortable with our 4 month baby and the smell didn’t go away. Only one lamp was working in our room so lighting was limited after dark. The room could have used more outlets or an extension cord. The restaurant had great food but the pricing confused us!! Liquor was dirt cheap, but the meals were very pricy. Overall though we had a good rest. Would recommend if you can get a room that doesn’t smell like smoke…

Looks like it was recently renovated. Bed was comfortable. Food was a good portion. We were able to call ahead so that the food was ready when we arrived.Price of the room was reasonable. Price of the food was a bit high but ok.

Great location right on Hwy 17 on the North Huron Shores. Room was very clean and well decorated. Beds were very comfortable. Owner greeted us with warm and friendly service. Ordered dinner from the menu and had a fabulous spinach dip with warm naan bread and the Caroline Burger-highly recommend both! Pet friendly room available was important to us. The view from the rooms was amazing - enjoyed a fabulous sunset! Great stay overall 5 STARS!!

Really great spot with an awesome view. I dont understand the negative reviews. The owner was very nice and the room was clean. If I ever drive this was again Ill be sure to stay here.

Owner was fairly nice I guess but room was very very cold ( windows left open in winterwith no heat on. Blanket on bed was paper thin. Smelled like a toxic cleaning product. The bed was not nice . I would only stay here if you are just passing through and need to crash.

Was charged for two nights.Only stayed one night.Wants me to send my credit card statement proving I have not received refund.Says they do not have proof of payment and want me to send statement.Not likely!!Completely scammers.Mr. Khan is the person Ive been trying to deal with and is a completely unreasonable, chauvinistic person.

Very pleased with our room and view. We were upgraded to king size bed, which was nice. Sunset was beautiful last night. Only complaint I had was the drain in tub didnt hold water for a bubble bath. Other than that it was clean and comfortable.

We had a group of 11 riders stay at the hotel, it was a great stay! The rooms were very clean, the owners were friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to coming back again.

What a beautiful setting, all rooms face the bay and lake, lovely venue and we rounded off our day into the evening with a social fire on the guest dog walk part of the beach. Will return and definitely recommend you spend al least one night here. Amenities are rather sparse in the vicinity, but a nice walk to Tim Hortons, a gas station, rooms are clean and tidy. Just a lovely little beach front hotel. Motorcycle friendly, watch the gravel parking areas but compact enough not to be a concern.

The Carolyn Beach Inn & Restaurant is set in a very beautiful location on lake Huron. Just the location is enough reason to stay here. But they should remove the name & Restaurant from their title as they have closed down the restaurant at least at present. The rooms are good, spacious, clean and have the obligatory coffee machine and a fridge. But they dint give you a bottle of water so please carry one. I was unfortunate that the new owner decided to upgrade my room without asking me and I was charged a whopping 30 dollars extra. Still trying to get that money back through Bookings.com. But the view. Oh what a view. Will go back just for that and the beautiful small beach attached to the hotel.

Enjoy the temper of the owner, being hung up on if you call, unclear communication, inflexible bookings, loud traffic all night, few amenities on site or in the town, few things in the area except traffic. Bad choice to book here, a loss of money to be treated like dirt. To avoid at all costs.We booked here far in advance for our return trip but had to adjust our camping plans due to forecasts of a week of torrential rain. So we decided to move the reservation a few days ahead. We sent the request 3x on Booking while the hotel still had availability for our new dates. No answer except “owner to confirm change” for 14 hours, so we called to have a conversation. We figured maybe we could negotiate and arrange for 2 earlier nights at his place, as long as we didn’t have to hang out a week in the rain to meet the original date.That idea went out of our minds when he picked up the phone. He yelled at us to talk to Booking.com about our booking, said all we had to do was send the request and he accepts it. When we said we’d done that, but his “settings” in Booking implied that he needed to approve our request, he said that we were a waste of his time and he hung up. We later messaged him on the platform asking him to clarify about the change, and after a number of hours without response, with a call to Booking.com for help, and still no response, we asked him to cancel and waive the fees. All while driving through mountains with spotty connection. The day after - (now the same day we had asked to reschedule to), he finally said no, he’s keeping our money.The last month everything West of Sudbury has been getting too many people requesting too few beds, so this man is just taking away my money and someone else’s chance for a needed bed. We ended our whole vacation early because we couldn’t afford exploring while paying for rooms we won’t sleep in.We’ve now driven through Thessalon, seen the motel just meters from the highway, the closed diner, the closed businesses in town.I can’t imagine how many times this man’s greed and avarice have cost his community, but this is now a place I’ll avoid the rest of my life for the stress he put us through, and will advise my friends to bypass.

I booked it for my parents on Expedia. To be honest, the scenery is really great, and my parents like it very much. Until they checked out, everything seemed perfect. But when they left the hotel, my bank sent me another deduction message, saying there was an expense of $30. Ive been calling the property owner, but I havent got through. Later, I had to contact Expedia to contact the owner.My parents travelled with another couple who lived on RV. I think if the hotel explained to me that their RV needs to charge a certain parking fee, I would accept it. But when they deducted money, they didnt give me any reason at all and directly deducted the fee.When I contacted them, maybe they were so busy that I wanted to ask the reason. They told me, "anyway, there were four people and not sure if they will stay in the hotel. They have to charge according to the hotel regulations". When I repeatedly said that they did not live in the hotel, the other couple lived in RV, and I did not understand the rules of the hotel. Their answer is: "try to understand"!!!My parents and their friends have told me that they like the scenery here and will come again when they have a chance. Although $30 is not a big deal, I feel so disappointed because of the way they handle things.

Wow, what a hit for motels. Never had a room this close to the water before. As far as aging motels go we loved this one. Had all the little amenities we wanted from coat hangers to microwave and fridge with a freezer. Great water pressure and hot water in the shower right away! No hair conditioner and missing a screen on bathroom window though.Wed make a point of stopping here again :)

I phoned to cancel our reservation but he was too busy to do it right then. I was told to send an email to cancel. I clicked the link on the website and it said link was invalid. So I clicked contact us on the website and left a detailed message when we reserved and to cancel. Well my credit card got billed and he went berserk when I explained just this. Went on about how I didn’t email and kept interrupting when I was trying to reason with him. So I paid for a room and didn’t stay there. No refund. Terrible Customer Service.

This is a beautiful place to stay at in Thessalon, Ontario. Arrived with 10 friends on motorcycles and loved it. So picturesque and inviting situated right by the lake just off HWY 17. I would stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much. See you soon. Rooms are clean and fully equipped.

I stayed for one night with partner and a dog.The cons:1. I waited 10 minutes to be checked in. The cause: the phone was ringing non-stop (two linesand the attendant (who I assume is also the ownerwould pick up one phone call after the other during check in process. — I was the only person waiting to check in, and he was more invested in getting new business rather than retaining his current customer.2. Room #33 was horrid. — and the attendant knew. He had a moment of hesitation before giving me the keys after I communicated point #1^ to him. Why was it horrid? The toilet was broken. It had a broken tank that wouldn’t stop draining water. The inconsistency of the water sounds wound keep anyone awake all night. It did us.3. Broken door. Yup. The windscreen’s lock was loose. I spent a good 3 minutes wiggling it awkwardly in order to open it. I had to prop it open thereafter for fear of not being able to open it again.It’s a motel, I get it, for 100$ a night in a small town that accommodated dogs, I didn’t expect much. — but I didn’t expect poor service, plus broken facilities.Pros:Undeniably, it is on a beach. It did offer great views of Lake Huron.It is clean. As reasonably clean a reasonable person can expect.Would I stay again? No. If I can find alternatives I would rather not subject myself to this motel.

We had an extremely unpleasant experience with pet fees at this inn. The owner is really shady about that and has one information on booking sites and then forces a different fee on you once youre there. We booked our stay via booking.com. When we booked our stay, the additional information section on booking.com said the pet fee is $15 per stay. We were booking for a week to use this place as a base exploring the region. At the check-in the owner said that he will charge the pet fee later. On the third day he calls us to pay for the pet and says its $20 per DAY! We pointed out that this is not what is said on booking.com. But the owner said that stay = day. When we said that this is not mentioned anywhere, he said that he will call booking.com and cancel our stay all together. We contacted the customer service ourselves and they agreed that per stay means per stay and in our case it should have been $15 flat fee for the whole week. They owner still refused to acknowledge that, so booking.com had to issue a refund for us for the additional amount. It was a really unpleasant experience.Its really sad because the place is good otherwise. Its quiet at night, the lake is gorgeous and having a lake view right from your room is so nice.But the owner really kills it all. When we had to ask for a receipt for a pet fee that clearly stated pet fee (for booking.com to issue a refund), we we grated with "What now?" and "When are you leaving already?". So much for a customer service.The food at their restaurant is mediocre and I dont really know how they got to the "where to eat" list they refer to in the ads we saw on the roads in the region. Upon arrival, we ordered burgers, chicken wrap and spaghetti with meatballs. The meatballs and the burgers were super dry, tasteless and inedible. The spaghetti themselves were ok, especially when youre hungry. The wrap was weird. Just chicken pieces and lettuce in a pile on top of the tortilla. It was impossible to make an actual wrap out of it all, there was too much of the chicken and lettuce pile. I know this sounds like a good thing, but if you think about it, when you order a wrap, you expect to get a wrap, not a pile of the wraps stuffing on a tortilla.Other than that, the place was clean, spacious enough. But the customer service and their fraudulent behaviour about the fee really killed it for us.And before they say that there was no such customer, I have a photo of the pet fee receipt and the chat with booking.com customer service screenshots to prove and show to anyone who asks. If youre not aware, you can only chat with booking.com support about your active bookings/stays.

The app said facing the garden. Reality….all units face the garden and the beautiful lake. The grounds are well kept. The location is gorgeous. The rooms are super clean. The staff are over the top accommodating. I have no problem giving this location 5 stars and wish the owners and staff all the best.

Stopped at their restaurant for dinner. Worst food I have ever had. Even though covid restrictions for indoor dining are lifted, we were not allowed inside or even on the outdoor patio. We were forced to sit at a picnic table out in the full sun which had seagulls droppings all over it. We waited an hour in the sun for our food, which arrived cold and soggy. The server dropped the bag and told us we could figure it out ourselves. My clubhouse had dried up tough dark meat turkey on it and was gross. My hubbys burger was awful. It was $44.00 for This horrible meal. Our friend with us was not happy with his meal. I would skip this place if you want to stop for a meal.

Beautiful location. I stayed here for 1 night with my 3 kids.Had a warm place to sleep, but the room and fridge was pretty stinky. Ordered over $100 worth of food, and left more then half when we left as it was absolutely disgusting.Will not stay here again.

Very clean and comfortable rooms with a spectacular view! The restaurant has great food with good portion sizes and a lovely patio! Beautifly run motel and if you want proof of that just check how the owner expertly handles negative reviews that had no justification!

Rooms were clean and ok but certainly not worth the price.they said non smoking but the neighbors sat outside and smoked like there was no tomorrow and it filtered into our room . Apparently they say non smoking but they dont enforce itRestaurant was very good. Great food and service but VERY slow... Took over an hour to get a burger but when we did get it it was very good. Other people arrived after us and ordered after us but got served well before us... I guess the "regulars" get priority.Great view and location but an overnight is all we could take

Convenient location in close proximity to the highway and within walking distance of a new Tim Hortons, convenience store and gas bar. Remarkable hospitality. Tastefully updated rooms. Beautiful water view. Small sandy beach and picnic tables. Fantastic food options. Highly recommend the delicious Butter Chicken.

We were moving and needed a place to stay while transitioning from Thunder Bay area to down south. This place was above and beyond what we expected and was such a wonderful stay. The new owners are very friendly, accommodating and served dinner even after the kitchen was closed. We wished we could have stayed longer; easily a comfortable and clean place to stay for any occasion. Would definitely visit again, and could consider it as a potential wedding destination!

Great stay, felt safe for a solo female traveler. The sunsets were just gorgeous, the staff was very friendly and the food I ordered was great after a long day of motorcycling. I also like the privacy it provided being a little bit off the highway. Much quieter than the other options and felt safer leaving my bike out overnight. Did I mention the sunsets?!
