Carolina Ale House in Wilmington

The good: the food was deliciousThe bad: everything else. The waitress never offered refills, never asked if I wanted a refill and didn’t even check in on me to see if I needed anything. She may need more training. The bathroom was a mess/disaster. Smelled horrible. Paper towels everywhere except in the garbage. The light in the parking lot needs fixed, burned out and the lot was pitch black.

The French fries are amazing! 😍 plus they have music bingo on Tuesdays 😄

Its just buffalo wild wings but for burgers. Cookie cutter same ole same ole mediocre kitchen w giant portions of terrible food. They have a lot of beer choices and TVs w sports.

Beer, service, and dry rub wings were great. Lexi rocks at the bar. Football Sunday as always busy.

I went here for the first time as part of a first date. The menu item I order general Tao’s chicken bowl was cold and sauce was lumpy (picture attached). I asked the server Collin if I could get something else which his reply is okay would you like this item taken off your bill. Which I replied yes and he had to leave to ask a a manger. If I’m not going to eat something why should I pay for it when it was disgusting. Then the replacement entree which was chicken tenders entree that came with fries and cole slaw. The best item was the cole slaw. The chicken tenders were bland and fries warm soggy. I just ate it instead of trying to get something else. This was a horrible experience and I plan to not go back nor would I recommend this place. I left a tip due to know how poorly servers/waiters are laid but the service received was not great. Hands down one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant. I would just say don’t waste your money going here just go some place else.

I still have yet to try the Carolina Ale house. We were seated with menus. Then nothing for 20mins, not even a drink order. So we left. Ill try the Ale house one of these days. Ill give it another chance.

Great place, good food, great drinks, and lovely atmosphere. However, the most recent time I went the server was awful. Her attitude was terrible. We were a big group and came in at midnight (I understand its late, but they close at 2 so it isnt as if we came in right before closing). I will be returning to this location but will ask for a different server if I get her as a server again.

Only 1 star because #1 The patio waitress was attentive focused & multitasking SO MANY DIFFERENT PPLS NEEDS!The guitar player really made my night. I needed to hear live music & he delivered!#1 STAR. NO FOOD!!! Never even hoy to order. It’s like ppl follow me in & I get left outGood luck

The staff is really what has me coming back!!!! Ms Adelynn is the best server, she was really sweet and a hard working young girl!!!! I just want to say thank you for everything, and thank you for the manager as well ( I think his name is Markthe food was quick and amazing ♥️♥️

Good service and great food. Cheesesteak was surprisingly good, and this is coming from a gal from Philly. And the buffalo chicken wrap was quite tasty as well! Fries were hot and crispy.

Food was great! However, I noticed that the management was not very nice to their employees. I noticed the manager tina seemed a little out of it and maybe under the influence.

I come to this place every week at least 2x. Today was the worst experience ever. Wings overcooked, salad was nasty and seemed old, and the customer service was not great. If I bring a concern to the staff they should investigate it and not make a clear mistake seem ok. If the chicken is undercooked its ok just remake it. Me being a GM I remake the food, apologize and remake the food. I work the restaurant as well and seeing this place that has been great for so long as of their management change and for it to go back to before was just awful. Nice run but Im done.Thank you to the new GM and if you was there today that food would have not came out the kitchen.

Service was friendly. It wasnt busy. But the food was just... No. The frickles were battered in nothing but salt it seems. Hardly edible. But thats where the flavor ended. I ordered the boneless zingers Carolina bbq style. They had absolutely no flavor. The celery that came with them had more pizazz. My husband had the southwest burger - no flavor. Ive never been so offended by food in my whole life.

From out of town and wanted a late night bite to eat. They delivered on taste everything was very good and fresh tasting and hot when it arrived! Give it a go!

Wow!!! It was sooooo good! The Best Cheese Fries, with smoky bacon. The best Shrimp quesadillas I’ve ever had! Grilled Chicken Sandwich. So tender or juicy! Even the sweet tea was perfect! Great service also!!!

It was a good experience overall, the side salad was a great size for how cheap it was to add. The burger wasnt bad, nothing to write home about but it satisfied me, I want to go back for wings and a buffalo chicken sandwich. Great fries and drink selection

The server, Amber, was very attentive, good service. Food was very good. Four of us ordered different dishes and all were excellent. Onion strings as appetizer were the best. Overall, very good experience. Will return.

I come to this place because of Mike and Aaron and some of the other great bartenders that work there. Last time I was there the GM came up and shook my hand and recognized me. This is the exact thing this place has been missing since I’ve been coming to Ale House on and off Kudos to the bald gentleman in glasses who I still don’t know your name. You made a great experience better.

Food here is fantastic. Service, as usual, is terrific. Today it was extra terrific because Kally was our server. What an outstanding young lady she is. We thoroughly enjoyed her. We also met the manager, who is very cordial and likable and helpful. Strongly recommend this restaurant and its staff.

This was my 1st experience with this restaurant. It definitely won’t be my last!!!! I am in town for a few days and the last night of my trip I ordered from this restaurant. We ordered a Philly cheese steak with fries, side salads with shrimp tacos and also burger and my 3 year old loved the fish and fries!!! Overall the meals were amazing!!! Management was wonderful & staff were on point when checking out. We picked up our meals to go and everything was hot & delicious!!!! I believe the individual who took our phone order was Matt. Thank you for making my last night with family awesome:)

The past several times I’ve been to the Carolina Ale House the women’s bathroom has been filthy! Toilets not flushed and door locks on stalls broken. Unfortunately, my visit to Carolina Ale House in Wilmington today was even worse than my prior visits. The bathroom was filthy and the sink had a busted pipe underneath that kept the floor flooded. However, nothing prepared me for what happened next…….. I was sitting at the bar enjoying my wings and beer, when a baby cockroach crawled right by my food. Needless to say, my appetite immediately was gone. The waitress informed management what happened and took my food off my bill, but still charged me for the draft beer I was drinking, that I did not finish drinking, because let’s face it I just wanted to get the hell out of there. What made this entire experience worse is the staff and management acknowledging they have a roach problem and have for months now. Sadly, I will never return to this filthy establishment. It is sad to see that over the years that this restaurant has gone downhill so badly.

Great manager and waiter. Love the grilled shrimp and vegetables; steaks are good too! We eat there almost every time we come to Wilmington.

I normally love going here but this time was unfortunately pretty terrible. We orded the plant-based boneless wings and not only were they real chicken but they were completely raw and pink on the inside. They did correct this and bring us our right order but there was no discount whatsoever. Like? We could have and still could get very sick from biting into raw chicken. What the hell?!

Dined again with friends May 3rd. Had fried frickles. So good. Also Chicken burrito and chips. Alot of chicken and good. Hubby had nachos. Huge plate of beef nachos. We both took leftovers home. Cheeseburger was great! Had fried pickles...yummm Waitress was alot of fun!

First time going here, and it felt like a neighborhood pub. The bartender Mike greeted me right away and asked how Im doing. I got a burger to go because I was tired and wanted to get back to the Hilton. It was delicious, fries were warm and crispy. Great place, Ill be back!

If I could give a ZERO, I would. I understand about having limited amount of staff, but that was not the case. Ordered a drink special rum and coke, they seemed to have put vanilla rum in it. We orered salads, only to be told 15min later they didnt have the ingredients to make them. After we re-ordered and spoke to the manager herself and explained the drink snafu, other rum and coke came to the table, however it was lacking any rum at all. Our waiter never asked if wed like another drink. The waiter finally brought out our food, clearly there was no rush on getting it to us. The waiter came around to ask how the food was, I said not good. Didnt eat, but two bites of the fish & chips and the coleslaw was half of a serving. The waiter never asked why. Paid the lovely bill, waited 10min to get my card back and told the manager on the way out. She just replied, oh you paid already, sorry. Ugh....huge disappointment, we will NOT be back. Go elsewhere, this place is horrible including the mens restroom that had pee all over the floor. (My husband told me it was gross.Were new to the area, and eat out often. We shouldve went to one of the other restaurants, that weve been to before and loved. We tried.

First time eating here, the server was courteous and prompt. I liked the amount of food we got for the kids menu. The burger was good so the fries.

Upon arrival, everything was going smoothly. We got our seating with no problems, and the staff was being nice. Unfortunately, that all changed when our server came. Initially, she was nice and answered all of our questions. However, as time passed, she started having a certain attitude that I am well aware of. (I used to work as a server, and I have had coworkers who behaved the same way. They hated doing extra work to provide customer service. This is why I call it a “certain attitude”). She started developing a rude behavior and forgot some of what we ordered. She then said she would get the items missing, but completely ignored us and started tending to others and herself. When she came back 10 minutes later, she asked if we needed anything, thus, forgetting again about the missing items. This is when she started showing her true colors and being disrespectful (and honestly, it started feeling prejudiced because she wasn’t behaving like this towards other non-colored individuals). When we got our food, some of it was cold and part of the seafood was undercooked. The chicken was also very dry, and the fries had a weird aftertaste that only comes when they fry chicken, fish, and potatoes in the same fryer (I was also a ServSafe restaurant manager, so I am familiar with the policies of restaurant business). After getting the food corrected, she kept on trying to rush us out by asking if we needed the to go boxes and the check. We were still finishing our food, but she persisted on us leaving the restaurant so she did not have to deal with us. This behavior is unacceptable. I understand it is mainly a bar setting, but I highly recommend that families do not eat here due to the poor quality of food and service. (This is especially true towards colored folk).

I really enjoyed the food, the wings were amazing and I loved the loaded mash. I got half garlic Parmesan and half honey Buffalo. Our waitress was so sweet and had such a good attitude!

My family has ordered takeout from Carolina Ale House approximately 5 times and, overall, have been satisfied with the quality and accuracy of our orders. I didnt give more than 3 stars because we HAVE been "shorted" a salad or side here and there (about which I DIDNT call the restaurant to complain, so maybe Ill do so and, depending on their response, increase my rating to 4 stars from 3). The food and prices are mediocre to good. I cant say Ive ever CRAVED any of their dishes, but well still continue to occasionally patronize C.A.H. when we dont feel like cooking/cleaning up the after-dinner messes. 😊

It was great. Matt our waiter made the night he was great. Pascual had the salmon and said it was very good I had the crispy cod sandwich it was real good.Thank you Matt for a great evening!

Weve eaten here often and this is the first time weve been disappointed.When entering we were greeted by the hosts and seated right away. We asked to watch the hockey game and they turned it on for us immediately, which was awesome.We ordered a couple of beers and some cheese curds to start. The cheese curds arrived and were underwhelming. Light in color it was obvious that they werent cooked long enough. They were super soft and kinda mushy, with no crunch to the batter. The dipping sauce was cold.I ordered 6 wings, grilled, Carolina BBQ style, with just celery on the side. When they arrived the came with only carrots and no celery. It wasnt a big deal, we reminded the server about the request for all celery and she apologized and went to get it. When she returned she gave us a small plate with three sticks of celery and said, "sorry thats all they gave me".The wings were ridiculously small, Ive never had wings anywhere the size of these, and they were nothing like what we have received here in the past. They are so small they were over cooked and dry. It was akin to eating crispy burnt chicken skin. Ive provided a pic with my finger for size reference.My husband ordered the Varsity burger and it was also like nothing weve received here before. It was small and sad, something you might get in a school cafeteria. He asked for medium and it was well done, probably because the patty was so puny.We would normally stay the whole game and drink beer, but we were ready to go only 20 minutes into the game.The server was ok, nice and attentive enough, not memorable, but not bad.Overall the entire experience hasnt inspired us to return anytime soon, its really gone downhill.

My family and I decided to stop at this Ale house for the first time before leaving back home. We usually love eating at Ale house by our house because of the good food and service. This one had nice service but had to remind the waitress and few times about things I asked for she spilled our drinks and I had asked for napkins so I could clean the drinks and the tables. She should have offered to clean it since she said “I’m sorry I made a mess” but we do not want to cause a scene I just cleaned it my self. The next we received our food the steaks were so burnt that was the only thing I could taste was burnt steak my husband asked for medium rare and I asked for medium well and both were passed well done. We told the waitress about our steaks and she said that’s how the chef cooks the steaks sometimes it’s comes out more cooked then you asked for. She did offer to give us new steaks but we had to kids and didn’t wanna wait any longer for our food. We just ate it as is then we ate the vegetables and they taste off to us and we could see that our vegetables were cooked different from my sons because our had a different color and a bad after taste. Then within less then an hour after eating here I got sick the whole car ride and the next day I still felt sick I have a weaker stomach then my husband. As soon as we got home I had to take medicine. The only thing my family enjoyed was the Pool table. In overall we didn’t have a great experience here what a shame because we love coming to eat at the Ale house. We won’t be coming to this one again. Hope others have a better experience then my family and I did.

My wife and I visited Carolina Ale House to try the French Onion Soup. We ended up ordering the Cheese Curds appetizer, the Steak House Burger, and a bowl of the French Onion Soup. Before discussing the food, I need to mention the server and Manager as well as the physical restaurant. The server was Haley H and she provided fast and friendly service. With her perky upbeat personality and suggestions for items, it was truly enjoyable being served by her. The manager actually walked around the dining area checking to see if we and others were happy or needed anything. That was very impressive. The interior is clean and appropriately lit, decorated, and maintained at a comfortable temperature. My wife reported that the steak house burger was cooked perfectly to medium as she had requested. The burger is massive and well put together. She shared the burger is worth the price and that the fries were well seasoned and crispy. The Cheese curds were slightly oily and with a slight pressing of the napkin made them perfect. They are served with a wonderful slightly sweet and spicy red sauce on the side. The French Onion soup was good. A nice balance of cheese and bread. They top the soup with swiss however, mixing some Gruyere in would have boosted the intricacies of the flavor profile. Not the best French Onion in Wilmington but certainly not the worst. At a price point that is lower than many places (5.49 per bowl), it is well worth the price. The soup is made in-house and has a bold flavorful broth that has several seasonings including thyme and pepper. Sherry is also added to the stock. The beef stock is rather bold and seasoned but works well for this soup. There was a generous portion of onions in the soup however, they could have used a few more minutes of cooking time. They were a little firm for my taste, with regards to expectations for French Onion soup. Overall, the soup gets 3.75 out of 5 stars when compared to other local competitors. (Paddy’s Hollow, Brasserie Du Soleil, etc...)NOTE: The photo of the Cheese Curds is AFTER approximately 25 percent were consumed, the portion is larger than shown.I recommend the Carolina Ale house. A great place for lunch or dinner in a fun, sports-centric environment.

Ordered a DoorDash order from here tonight. According to their app, my dasher had to wait around 30 min at the restaurant to wait on my food to be made. I ordered the vegetarian flatbread, chips & salsa and spinach artichoke dip. Upon opening my order, one box contained a few tortilla chips and what looked like pita points?, which had been cooked to the point the were rock solid and pretty burnt. Theres no way an employee didnt see how bad this looked when they haphazardly threw my order together.. The flatbread looked delicious upon opening but when I went to grab a piece I realized the entire bottom of all four pieces was burnt so badly that most of the bottom was black. I ended up scrapping off the toppings to make it edible. The spinach dip was delicious and the salsa is super spicy if thats your thing. The queso you can add to the chips and salsa also has a nice kick to it. I just wish I would have read other reviews before spending over 40 dollars on a small flatbread, chips and salsa and spinach dip.

I was really excited to try this place, and I placed a delivery order for a Philly Cheese Steak and Bacon Cheese Fries. The cheesesteak tastes a little burned, and the bread is soft and squishy. And the fries would be great... Except theres hardly any bacon or cheese... I paid !$3.39 extra for this? Wont be ordering from here again.Edit: they fries also taste frozen, dont really have much batter on them, and have a chemical taste to them

Service was decent, food and drinks are over priced!Crowd is a version of tweakers and college kids that dgaf.80+$ for few beers and two burgers.. not to mention couldn’t get a booth because they were working on things, yet workers were at the bar then on top step of ladders 🤦🏻‍♀️

First time here even though I live 2 blocks away and it was fabulous! Outdoor patio is the place to be! I had the pub burger it was delicious and perfectly cooked. Morgan was wonderful and graced my party with amazing service and a bubbly personality! I will be back!! Thanks Morgan!!

Victoria did an amazing job making us feel so welcome for my birthday from ensuring we could see and hear a specific hockey game to making sure we had delicious food and drinks! If youre ever headed to this Carolina Ale House, ask for Victoria!

You know...I have lived in Wilmington for 3 years, live in close proximity to Carolina Ale House but had never given them a try. Since I recently signed up with Postmates and their unlimited delivery service, it was Memorial Day and my wife and I both wanted to have that classic burger without the hassle of having to make it myself (yes...I wanted to be lazy), I chose Carolina Ale House for delivery. What transpired after placing that order was very good but also a bit disappointing.FOOD: The Steakhouse Burger (Chargrilled with signature steak seasoning, aged Swiss, grilled mushrooms, beer-battered onion rings, roasted garlic aioli on a toasted brioche bread, according to their current online menu). This burger confused me a little since it tasted so good, but was missing some ingredients and replaced by others?!? As you can see in my previous pics, there were no beer-battered onion rings nor grilled mushrooms on my burger. The roasted garlic aioli was a pleasing spread on the burger, as was the steak seasoning, as advertised, but my burger included house-made pickles, tomatoes and lettuce, which was not supposed to be on the burger. Toasted brioche bread? Check! It was just an odd FrankenBurger that was surprisingly good. Pros: sensational steak seasoning on the patty, garlic spread and cooked a perfect, medium-well...just as ordered!! Cons: Not sure what happened with the mixup of ingredients on my burger?? The other area of opportunity noticed: lettuce on the burger was soggy and limp. Regardless if the excuse of...the lettuce had been exposed to an abundance of moisture from the ingredients, coupled with the time it took to deliver, the lettuce, it was still a topping that should have never been. The patty was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the Aged Swiss cheese....oh my!! Those were the standouts of the burger for me and although I did not get what I ordered, it still came out tasting good. Just to ensure I did not mixup my burger with my wifes, I checked hers and confirmed it was just a patty and cheese, plain. The star of the meal were those fries!!! Dude...seriously I could eat a bucket of these. Wonderful flavor, cooked perfectly and the seasoning is extraordinary. LOVED the fries. Overall, it was very good food, just not what I ordered and paid for, scoring shy of 4 plus stars SCORE: 3.5 STARS!!SERVICE: I used Postmates for delivery service so there was no direct communication between myself and Carolina Ale Houses staff, however, the food arrived hot, nicely presented and on time. Since there were no encounters with the staff or restaurant, directly, I cannot offer up an honest score for service, as it would only benefit Postmates. N/AOVERALL SCORE: If only that burger would have been the true "Steakhouse Burger" I ordered, this score could have been substantially higher. The patty was cooked exactly as ordered and offered up balanced flavors that packed a punch. Maybe next time, we can try this again? Thank you for the meal! 3.5 STARS!!

Service was friendly and prompt. Food was fresh, quick and tasty. Nice portions. Happy to see they offer the Beyond burger, will order that next time. Played two rounds of pool while watching a baseball game was fun.
