Wrecked cars have been arranged like England's Stonehenge at this public art installation.
What a great experience to finally visit Carhenge in person. Unlike other world class attractions, this pearl of Alliance, NE, was not overcrowded when I visited. In fact this unique site was empty of tourists and locals alike, permitting me to enjoy the place in quiet and solitude - an absolutely amazing experience
Nebraska Iconic. We don’t regret making the stop while we were in the area. It’s a short walk, self lead tour. Tons of photo opps!
Incredible! An absolute must-stop if youre passing by the area!
Interesting place to visit. Its out in the middle of nowhere. I wouldnt go out of my way to see it, but it is worth the visit if you are going by it.
Fun stop! If you enjoy funny and/or odd roadside attractions, do not miss this. (Wish we could’ve stayed longer, but weather turned from nice to absolutely crazy within 7 minutes of arrival)
Really cool place, especially if youre into cars just seeing all the different models and parts they used is cool. Worth a 5 minute side trip of youre near Alliance, I overnighted there.
First time to visit Carhenge! I was very amazed at how they took the old cars and made the cars look like Stonehenge!! Great job! So cool!! From a 57 Chevy, Gremlin, and Cadillac! Plus other vehicles from long ago! It was great to see and visit!! Plus there are other heavy metal artwork around Carhenge!
This place is a great road side attraction. Open during daylight hours with a little shop it was a perfect little place to stop for a bit while on the road. Its definitely not something to plan a trip around, but it is a great place on the way.
A fun and free stop in youre passing through the area. Theres more car art than just the Carhenge itself.
Cool exhibit! Souvenirs available for purchase. Bathroom and snacks also available on site.
Carhenge was put together by a local who had a love for the original Stonehenge. Loved this, I had no idea it existed until we happened upon it. Really neat and original artwork, nice to be able to get out and stretch my legs while viewing something unique. If you get a chance to stop and look its very interesting and there are a few time capsules in there as well.
Carhenge was a short roadside stop on our way to South Dakota. It was a nice change to stretch your legs, they do have an outhouse if you needs restroom. Over all its free, they do have a small store/giftshop which we did not get in. I would define this as an art exhibit. So if you not into that kinda of thing you may not like it. however its free and hard to go wrong with that.
its unique art made with old cars as the medium better than expected
this place was awesome, we were in the area, so had to go.
I have been twice. Both times were wonderful. Not crazy exciting. But why not check it out.
So cheesy. Yet majestic. Perfect road stop for our drive to Colorado. Cheerful staff at the tourist kiosk, too. Snacks available.
Very cool place to stop and stretch our legs. So very cool
Our stop here expectations! Our teenagers were excited about it.The cars are impressive in real life than in photos. Each car type is identified on a poster in the gift shop. There is a car to the north of carhenge that you can "auto-graph." I had a sharpie marker on hand and that worked well.Inside the gift shop, they sell some snacks, cold drinks, and gift items. We had fun putting a pin on their map to show our hometown. They also have a collection of Nebraska and United States license plates. And they have a restroom!
OK, Ill admit I wasnt expecting to find this interesting. Im a car guy so I kind of thought this was, oh, I dont know, sacrilegious or something to try to make cars look like something else. It was beyond anything I expected to find. It almost felt like it was actually honoring the various cars used to mimic the real Stonehenge. If it wasnt for the Nebraska Passport stamp, I doubt I would have ever come here but all I can say is WOW!!! Its not as breathtaking as Stonehenge but it sure will make you smile. Especially if you take the short stroll amongst the whole exhibit. Im really happy it was on the passport list. My favorite displays were the dinosaur and the salmon. Incidentally, according to the electronic counter, in one 24 hour period, July 2nd, 613 vehicles entered the area!
I enjoyed that you could add your name to the car. My child also added a photo to the car. They are an interesting spot to stop and stretch legs from long car rides. I looked at all the cars and it was a great experience. I had stopped on a good weather day also.
Very cool little place to stop along a road trip. There are no entry fees and a quaint little gift shop if you want to pick up a souvenir..
Good place to stretch your legs and see a very unique art display. Not alot to it but a good 15 minute walk around.
A great tourist stop. It is exactly what it is. Stonehenge with cars. Worth the stop for sure if you are in the area. There are some other art installations, but this is the main one to see.
this is a neat idea and very nice to come and see the car displays they have a small gift shop too so you can buy some souvenirs. I like the artists vision well worth the stop
Unique piece of art. The artist lived in Europe for 15 years. Measured and recorded everything about Stone Henge and made car henge the exact same dimensions. Only an hour from Scott Bluff National Monument and Agate Fossil Beds. 2 hours from Custer. Def worth checking out
Our family stopped here on a family cross country road trip and this place just gave me all the smiles. I love that the creator wanted to bring a piece of his own travels back to his hometown. Come and see this fun and wacky tribute to Stonehenge. Bring change to get your pressed penny from the gift shop too.
Interesting art sculptures surround the major parts of the exhibit. This experience exceeded my expectations & Alliance is kinda cool. The Central Park Fountain at night is pretty awesome. Food experiences were great. Big sky country with amazing dark sky opportunities too. Going to the Carnegie Art Museum next & Dobbys Frontier Town - yee-haa
Carhenge was interesting and quite a roadside stop. We specifically stopped there on our way from Scotts Bluff to Mount Rushmore, but it wasnt out of our way. It is just in the middle of nowhere. It is pretty interesting to see all of the vehicles, and it is free and entertaining.
Seems like a silly place out in no where, but Ive taken several people there and they really enjoyed it. I like it too and it makes a great photo stop!
This was really cool! We enjoyed walking around looking at this masterpiece and checking out the Pitstop Shop!
Carhenge is what it is. Honestly, its more funny than anything. You will be standing in the middle thinking, "Who would have thought of this?", but also glad they did. Although, it was more than I expected and also much bigger than I expected. They have a few other sculptures and art work to look at. The gift shop was nice with a clean bathroom. You will probably spend about an hour there but its free which makes it a good stop to stretch your legs.
Its a fun place to walk around and see something different. Dont go too far out of your way unless you really love driving through hours of rolling hills. Though, thats also quite scenic and Zen if you havent done it too much yet. Check out the photos and stop by to get a closer look.
We found this gem as we were driving through Nebraska. It was a pleasant surprise, we really enjoyed it!
On the return trip from NE New Mexico to Olympia Washington, I specifically routed to Carhenge ....just cause. Way out of the way. Fine.If youre a Car Person and love secondary road side trips, dont miss this. Interesting sculptures but the part I enjoyed the most were the other tourists. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. Strangers saying Hi and commenting on the other displays.Yes the Gift Store was closed and so was the snack bar. I didnt go there to eat or to buy stuff. Alliance seems to be a friendly place and well off the beaten path. Eat and shop in town. (Theres also a Military Museum there.)Or you can stay on the interstates..... Who doesnt love guessing which mile marker youre at or reading bilboards?
Quirky attraction weve been wanting to see for awhile. Its worth a stop if your in the area. If your into cars stacked on top of each other in the shape of Stonehenge stop by. Everyone enjoyed it!
After driving for hours through the Nebraska Sandhills this was a nice stop. It’s free!!! Can see it all in 15 minutes or so. Open all hours even if the shop isn’t.
Definition of a Road Trip Stop. So bizarre and so well designed. We made it a part of our trip as we were driving from Rapid City SD to Chimney Rock NE. Also had more than just carhenge with some time capsules and benches as well. Wouldn’t go out of the way to get here but if it’s on your way I’d stop here!
Very cool place to stop as youre driving by. Nice people at the little gift shop. I recommend to get some cool stuff in there because it doesnt cost anything to view the cool "Carhenge."Thank you all for keeping this open, its a pretty neat story too. I highly recommend it, its pretty cool! 😎👍
A place I wanted to see for a while. Happened to be on a travel route, so I stopped. Glad to see most people are respecting artists graffiti request. Not an attraction I need to see again, but glad I had the opportunity.
A fantastic stop if you’re heading to Wind Cave NP! We were in and out within 15 minutes. An interesting and fun sight to see perfect for photo ops.
It’s not like the real stings henge, but it is a must stop place for anybody driving through Nebraska. The staff are friendly in the gift shop and it’s free to walk around and park. You can even touch the cars, none of which is true at the original stone henge!
Okay dude straight up! this place was awesome! Its free too were are on our way to Mount Rushmore and decided to pit stop here and we have no regrets! I had some much fun and the cars are super neat. Its such a creative replica of a one of the most renowned structures on earth and I cant compliment it enough! I highly recommend paying a visit.
This is a really cool place. After hours and hours of driving through empty roads in the Nebraska Sand Hills, it’s really bizarre to come across this big piece of artwork sitting in the middle of nowhere! Every car is positioned in a neat way so it looks sort of like Stonehenge, and there are other sculptures surrounding it as well. The surrounding scenery is awesome too, especially during sunset. It’s worth visiting if you’re anywhere in the area - it’s free, and doesn’t take too long! 😄
Nice little tourist attraction. Doesn’t take more than 30 minutes to visit. I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area, as it is unique to see. Great interpretive signs to explain what you’re looking at and the process that was involved to “build” the site. Small gift shop that sells gifts and souvenirs. Five stars because it is an attraction that doesn’t charge to visit (we bought souvenirs to help support their operations and upkeep).
Its beautiful, its a very nice, Walk. I didnt get all the pictures that I wanted, however, its a wonderful place to go experience. The gentleman has also made dinosaurs out of car parts, & there are many more cars, partially buried in the ground, in all states of deterioration, or rust! Then, believe it or not, its all free to come in & see! Just remember that theres a lot of walking to see everything on the grounds!Theres also a little store that you can purchase merchandise, all kinds from Nebraska about Carhenge! Its a very cool place to go & visit for hours at a time. Even when we were there, it was very warm & we were there from FL.
It’s a drive but worth the artistic experience. In the summer of 1987 Jim Reinders, and a few family members, built a replica of Stonehenge. Jim at this review is in his 90’s It has a memorial to his father and that it is created on his fathers land. A quiet little spot that was a hidden gem and in now is the talk of those who crave the quirky and fun. Photographer fun and is best when you can see it in a few different lighting options. Kids can run free and it’s just an hour to enjoy the whole experience. photos by me aka #ProsperityHabit
We drove here during our recent vacation trip and it was definitely well worth the drive out of our way to see this! Didnt know there was a gift shop here too, that was a pleasant surprise! Awesome place to visit and western Nebraska has some very unique and beautiful geography with stunning views. :)
What a weird and strange place in the middle of Nebraska. If you get the chance, its definitely worth a look see. Just be prepared to drive at least three to four hours to get there if youre in a large city. The drive is going to pay off! The curiosity will be assuaged, and you will have seen, a fantastic reconstruction of Stone Henge made with cars.
What a great experience. Its one of a kind art you wont find anywhere else. Completely free to visit, you can take your time walking through, no one bothers you. Theres a gift shop there, you can support them.
Wowwie what a fun place to visit. Plenty of great photo opportunities. We went on a windy day with blue skies and puffy white clouds. Enjoyed walking around all the cars and seeing how they were arranged. The gift shop had plenty of fun stuff too. Things to see, buy and learn about how this magical place came to be.
