Captain Kidd - Pub in Brunswick, United States
Beautiful location, good selection of beverage and food. But I really miss some ambient music here.
Phoned to confirm when last food orders were taken and arrived 15 mins before that time. Stood at the bar with other people and we were all ignored by the staff who suddenly seemed to find other jobs to do for 15 mins so that by the time they served us they said the kitchen was closed. When we complained the barman told us we wouldnt get any food for an hour even if the kitchen was willing to take the order. The place wasnt even very busy. Appalling service. We walked out.
Nice pub with an amazing view of the riverThe pub offers a large selection of beers, some nice cocktails, and pub foodI tried the chicken burger and I was quite pleased with my choiceLovely place to have some beers and food with your friends
Lovely’s atmosphere and views. Good pub food 🥘. This is like a family house where everyone is welcome.
Wonderful place. Sat outside watching the Thames, eating and drinking with family. Very friendly and helpful service esp Noel and Judy.
We had a Great time at The Captain Kidd. It has a view across the Thames River with boats crusing back and forth and Very plesant outdoor area
Wonderful pub with a wonderful view. They also have fantastic beers, all Sam Smith which also means the very tasty crisps. Havent had the food yet but I definitely will go back to try what they have. Very nice location.
Lovely pub enjoy going here when ever I visit wapping lovely food only thing I’d like is if Samuel smiths done a zero alcohol lager only because I drive there but views are amazing Ashley and Roy brilliant at there job be back soon.
Stunning decor! The upper floor is even more amazing with fresh breezes and great views of the river and Canary Wharf. The food and desserts we had were delightful. We had a good time.
Very unwelcoming barman and £6 for a small bottle of pale ale, no pale ales or IPAs on tap. Garden with river views was nice but experience was already ruined before I got out there unfortunately.
Great pub right next to the river in an old building with tonnes of original features. Love the beers and atmosphere. It can get quite busy here especially on a sunny day and that makes some of the folks working there noticeably irritable :(
There are some amazing riverside pubs along the north bank of the Thames between Limehouse and Wapping. This, in my opinion, has the perfect balance of a large, dark wood, nautically-themed interior with a large outdoor terrace.Steeped in history, this building is a gem. On a very hot August afternoon, we got to sit in the beautiful bay window with a lovely breeze blowing over us.The only downside, as an ale drinker, is that it’s owned by Samuel Smith. The only offering that I enjoy is their wheat beer. Other than that the staff are friendly and there is a nice mix of visitors and locals.
I visited today whilst staying nearby and decided to come here as it looked nice. The outdoor seating area is nice and the general pub.Staff lack knowledge of what they serve drinks wise, I asked for the least fruitiest larger and then received one that tasted very fruitful, once looking at the drinks menu it confirmed that this was indeed the fruitiest larger that they sell.Ordered a chicken burger which I tucked in to straight away upon arrival and it was cold in the middle. The waitress then told me that I had left it too long and thats why it was cold, which I found insulting considering the middle of the burger felt to touch that it had just come out of the fridge. Also the waitress confirmed that these had been cooked from frozen which is ridiculous considering the price you pay, I would expect fresh chicken.Bad experience and poor knowledge from staff, in the right hands I feel this pub would be better. I would not recommend visiting here at all unless you like surprises!
Great location but… Sam Smiths pubs used to have low prices. The beer was (isso so, but at least it was affordable. Now it is not. £6.50 for a pint of lager. You could drink in Oslo, Norway, for less than that! Now wonder UK pubs are closing in record numbers.
Had to ask where the “vegan feta” that should have been added to my salad was, salad was taken back to the kitchen - my family finished their fish and chips before my new salad with feta was re-served. The cheese did not appear to be vegan. A refund was requested due to my meal being wrong and then extremely late as well as the vegan cheese being questionable, rude management refused. Overall pretty poor service for a very basic salad. Avoid.
Atmospheric and historic pub with terrace and views over Thames.
Nice boozer in a beautiful area. Great views of Canary Wharf from the garden, plus lots of independent or lesser known beers on tap.
Great riverside pub. Nice atmosphere, good beer.
Great service 👏 large seating area inside and out with amazing views. Really friendly team and they also allow dogs 🥰
Really Limited beer selections, pricey, dont do classic cocktails (they have their own cocktails that dont even come as per description).. my friends cocktail just tasted like juice, with a depressingly sad piece of mint. Im not giving 1 star only for the outdoor area... I live near by, but Will not be back.
It was fine. The kitchen was closed. Nice view of the Thames.
Great pub on the banks of the river Thames. Amazing views of Canary Wharf from the beer garden. Larger was reasonably priced too (for London!).
It’s ok , the pub it’s really nice however the service is not good. I had a rose glass which tasted terrible however when I requested for another they said “it’s a personal taste! Friends tried my wine and confirmed taste horrible! Even worse I wasn’t offered for a change or discount!!! terrible service . Food was ok chicken was from the day before , pie was cold :/ . Great thing it’s that’s it’s big and great views . Go to another pub for food and of course never order Rose wine .
Really nice pub. Loads of space downstairs and outside. Yet to check out upstairs for food. Prices were £5 cheaper than I was expecting, so will be back very soon. Cocktails were quick and easy. The most orderly single-file queue for a bar I have ever witnessed!
Good pub, good location, lots of space outsideOnly downer was some rather unwelcoming team members..Price wise, its on the higher end.Samuel Smith pubs used to be really affordable, but now they are just as expensive as anywhere else, but with off brand drinksDefinitely worth a visit if you want to sit by the Thames for a pint, just dont expect a warm welcome
Lovely heritage pub with great views of the Thames. Decorated inside with lovely navigation maps of the river
It’s Saturday early evening and they don’t have what they mentioned in the menu. They don’t have some cocktails ingredients so that can’t make some of them. Asked if they have vegetarian food and staff don’t know and won’t find out, what a good attitude and service, if you don’t like your job, please find something you like. It is not VEGETARIAN friendly pub. After nearly 40mins they said they don’t have the food that we ordered. We wanted to refund all food and they said some of our food is here now so sorry we have to pay for it. It’s very bad to see your friends have no food to eat. What a good pub in London. Maybe I’m unlucky to be here the first time but honestly I won’t recommend this pub as there are some other nice one nearby.
Lovely traditional pub, with stunning views of the Thames.
Pub is very quirky & old, brilliant for a beer with friends. Would certainly recommend for a beer on the river 😊
Spacious pub with a lovely courtyard overlooking the river. Pub food was fine and the Sam Smiths beer was very nice.
We went for lunch on a lovely sunny day. I had fish and chip and peas. The portion of peas was tiny but this is my only complaint. Lovely river view from both inside seating and outside seating. Would definitely go again
Atmospheric pub on the water in Wapping. Theres a big garden Riverside that must be wonderful in Spring/Summer. Had lunch with friends with mixed results. My BLT sandwich was not very nice but my friends meals of fish gougins, and spicy prawns were delicious and plentiful. I will return but maybe have the hot options next time.
One of the greatest pubs I ever been. Amazing atmosphere of old classic British pub. Very interesting history of that pub. Its not far from there where famous Captain Kidd was hanged. Also the pub is located near Execution dock, where pirates were hanged. Inside you can find a lot of interesting information about pub and captain Kidd. Interior is very classic and beautiful. And the best thing is the view for the Thame River. I will definitely return in summer to enjoy the Riverside garden.
Arrived early Monday evening approximately 5:20pm into dim lit quiet atmosphere. Traditional old Wapping pub, lots of history and memorabilia on walls. Bar staff engaged in small friendly conversation whilst taking drink and food order, informed us kitchen opens 6pm, suited us fine. Ordered 1x beef pie meal and 1x fish & chips with mushy peas meal. Sat outside in lovely outside space, enjoyed the Thames Riverside seating. Returned back inside to warm up. At 6pm we were told they were out of beef pie, to order something else. Ordered scampi meal with peas. Meals arrived hot accompanied with tartar sauce, asked for ketchup and hot sauce. Meals were lovely. We shared a sticky toffee pudding with hot custard, good portion. Meals were great quality, value for money ratio reasonable. Overall a pleasant quiet evening tradional meal.
Brilliant old English style pub! The food was fantastic along with the lager and you can’t beat the view 👍
Ace place. Decent pub garden right next to the Thames, delightful to sit out in while the Sun shine. Fantastic inside with lots of wood and different levels. Had a tasty couple of pints of Samuel Smiths cask ale highly recommended.. Overall a great pub.
What a beauty! Of course at the moment the best parts of it are shut to the normal drones but there are ways to find the fun.Great views over the Thames. It’s a sammy smiths pub so you’re greatly limited in what you can order and their salt and vinegar crisps have massively declined in taste! Just being salt now, such a shame.Staff seem to be some odd brand of hipster that think that being very blunt and not showing a single emotion is cool, I mean yeah, you’re worker drones but c’mon! Unless you’re really handsome ( which they ain’t then you’re just letting everyone including yourself down.Worth a visit for the view or go further down to the town of rams gate.Would be 5 stars with new management
Pub for 4 stars but the 5th star is because it’s Samuel Smith’s pub. The best beer for me. I recommend Wheat beer and cider. Awesome. Very nice place with an outstanding view on Thames.
The size of the burger and portion of chips was very average, the quality of meet was good. The beer - organic lager was very flat, not sure if it always comes like that. The highlight of our visit there was a view. Overall it was an average experience and will try something different next time.
This is a classic pub in the area of Wapping, in London. We only had drinks, so cannot tell you my opinion about food. There is a nice terrace just in front of the river that looks perfect for a sunny day (or, at least, not rainy day). The staff is not very friendly, though, which I thought was a shame.
Had a wonderful Sunday lunch - first one in months in the lovely little gem tucked away in Wapping - The Captain Kidd.Being the first customers of the day at the establishment we were lucky enough to bag the table with the best view (table 11- served very kindly by a cool guy that was managing the crowd coming in.Really enjoyed the Sunday lunch - they had 3 options: beef, chicken and vegetarian option (they usually have pork instead of chicken).Drinks wise it’s not to my taste as there were not very many choices of drinks on the sweeter side, however my fiancé was perfectly happy with the range of lagers they had! There’s also a lovely outdoor area with views of the river side of London!
We used to love this place but it has become horrible after the COVID. The service is nonexistent and the bartender is very rude. First they took our order and we paid for it, then they told us that kitchen didnt have key ingredients. When we got our order it was still missing half of what was supposed to be in it (except of what the kitchen didnt haveand instead of apologizing and acting as adequate service providers they acted like it was our fault and almost shouted at us.If you want to get treated like a trash feel free to visit this pub, otherwise Id advice you not to come here. There are a ton on lovely pubs around.
A typical wonderful English pub, excellent beers and delicious fish and chips! A wonderful view! I highly recommend taking a tour if you happen to wapping😍
Absolutely great pub full of character and located in the idyllic wapping area which is steeped in history. Went here for cocktails on my birthday and wasnt disappointed with either the drinks or the views. Everywhere you look there is a story to be found and history to be uncovered. Bar staff are friendly and prices are fair considering the premium location.
Great location for a pub by the Thames, the bay window looks out to the water and the outdoor riverside terrace is big. I had though this was a historic building by the look of the interior, but i think it’s built in the 80s, far more recent than I think.Definitely a nice pub to return to when I’m in the area again!
So found this hidden gem of a place completely by accident. The views are fantastic. The furniture and decor is rustic and related to a port. The food is great, fish goujon was amazing and I dont usually eat fish. Drinks were relatively inexpensive considering it was London. Go get some grub with a great view and friendly staff.
Fantastic space with a great selection of draft beers (all localand good selection of food and nibbles. I recommend the wheat beer and also the fruit beers if you like a sweeter one. Definitely would go back.
Well done, this is a great find. Very cheap beers, we had two for around £5.Great viewsFriendly bar staffHowever, in terms of the restaurant its all very disorganised. I ordered a pork roast dinner but was given a beef. I told the man and she was going to investigate. After 5 minutes he gave us some confusing answer, but I had no choice but to eat what I had. Which was now cold
Great pub with great view of Thames. Not the usual offering of beers and spirits only better. Pork pies with mustard as a bar snack is a great size dish to the drinks. Warm and friendly atmosphere.
An only very slightly tarnished jewel in Wapping’s wonky crown, The Captain Kid is a sensational venue - great views of the river, spacious outdoor seating area, quality ale and reasonably priced food. The only downsides are the lager (it’s a Samuel Smith pub, so fantastic for bitter or pale ale fans, but dismal for lager drinkers). It’s also a bit too child friendly (which is great if you have young ones with you but rather less so if you don’t).These are but minor quibbles though, and all in all there are no finer pubs within miles of this place. Highly recommended.
