Cape Point Rd, Cape Peninsula, Cape Town, 8001, South Africa, Hermanus
Tip of the Cape Peninsula forming part of a protected wildlife reserve with picnic spots and walks.
You need to enter at the Cape of Good Hope to get to Cape Point. Lovely hike up to the lighthouse at Cape Point. If you prefer there is a cable car. The restaurant was not operational
You’ll walk and walk so put on your most comfortable shoes and just enjoy the breathtaking views.
A place to be for tourists. But the entrance fee to the National Park is very expensive. Only residents get in for a cheaper price.
This is a must visit place in Cape Town. If you can plan time for a longer hike there are many good options. I would recommend hiring a car and self driving, or hire a driver for the day rather than taking a large tour bus that is on a schedule so you can enjoy the area as you see fit and as the weather accommodates.
Kudos to the authorities for maintaining the raw beauty of the area! This was such a great day out and for those thinking of exploring on your own, it is POSSIBLE. The only fee you pay is R360 (non-citizensbut you’re able to self-drive at your own ease. I did two hikes around the different capes and there’s nothing like it around! You’d be able to see wild animals like whales, ostriches, baboons, springboks and many more. I’d come back in a heartbeat!
A very nice place, but also very touristic, the road to the place is beautiful and you see lots of exotic animals
One of the best places Ive ever been to in Africa.Cape Of good hope is a treasure. The view from the top is amazing.Watching the separation of the Atlantic Ocean from the Indian Ocean and the two never mixing.Nature is beautiful. The hike to the top was pleasant with many stops and chairs and views beyond my imagination. You dont need pictures or videos. All you need is close your eyes, breath in and soak it all up.I had a pretty nice time at the tower.I would love to do this each year when I can
Awesome day to visit, the weather, wildlife and vista made for an unforgettable experience... Cape Town remains the most beautiful City in the world for me...
Lots to see and do- beautiful beach, maybe see whales, lighthouse, spectacular views. Lots of stairs if walking or take funicular to top. Left my pale green fleece at top by accident, hanging on a hook. Startedgoing back for it but decided not to hold up the tour. Hello Cape of Good Hope from Moffat, Texas!
Absolutely stunning. Its the most southwestern part of Africa. Next stop... Antarctica!!
One of the most beautiful and unforgettable memories of my life. The meeting of the Atlantic and Indian ocean was an incredible experience. You can see how is different the two ocean while one is so dark blue the other light opaline green.
Incredibly beautiful. A bit of a steep and uneven walk up to the rocky outcrop that provides a nice view across to Cape Point that is worth the effort. For me the highlight was the dramatic waves crashing against the rocky Cape.
The place with full of beauty and adventure, On the way you will have the view of Ostriches, baboon. Just make sure to bring some winter jackets as heavy winds was there due to last point of Atlantic ocean. Overall memorable
Must do despite the outrageously priced entrance fee for the National Park. Don’t be surprised by how much more non-residents have to pay when looking at the ticket booths. It’s beautiful and it’s definitely worth it to climb up. There was a bit of a lineup for pictures with the official Cape of Good Hope sign. Make sure you dress warm because it is extremely windy and keep your eyes out for the wild animals. We saw an ostrich and a springbok while driving.
Bit disappointed. The location is nice but worth R 350 pp.? The walk to to top of the rock is by the Cape Peninsula quite nice 1-1.5 h from parking lot since you pass Dias Beach which is quite nice and you have an impressive view of the ocean
Cape point and cape good hope are different locations (just 5 min away), visit both. Its a nice little climb up the boulders, with great view. Careful if its windy!
The entrance is a bit expensive but when you come down from the lighthouse you have to take a ride! We first went to the lighthouse and before that on the way we saw ostriches! And when we came down from the mountain we did a tour of the place which was very big, it took five hours we saw many animals like deer, goats and zebra! The map helped us a lot, you dont just go to the lighthouse. You have to drive to see the other animals and the amazing place in the reserve!
It was incredible to see the Cape of Good Hope included in a number of geographical discoveries described in the history books. I recommend watching the sunset on the way back from the lighthouse.
Clogged with tourists which is a shame! We had to wait in line outside for 5,-10 minutes just to get our turn to take a picture by the "sign.". Ugh! Nothing else to see, so not worth the visit.
Spectacular views and a nice hike, not difficult. Stormy sea and very very windy though.
Beautiful views and great drive. But it’s pricey for international visitors.
At the edge of South Africa, everything seem like out of the planet. I feel myself small when i look into the ocean and my head is no more questioning on things. Im just a piece of the planet. Im just nothing. #southafrica #travel
Its a lovely place but dont expect anything except a photo opportunity and a sense of being at the bottom of the continent
The scenery is beautiful! Problems are a lot. R360 per person as non-south-Africans, which I can deal with. But. The funicular was not working, so the 3 disabled persons in our party could not go up. I guess its out of order regularly due to the fairly well constructed sign! I am guessing load shedding was to blame. Restaurant not operational. Toilets smell of urine. Hardware out of order, load shedding and urine, it was quite the South African experience. How does it feel to steal money from disabled people?
A legendary place worth the trip. Park admission fee is steep at over R350 per adult but the chance to be there is once in a lifetime for most people so it’s worth it.Lots to see and do and areas to hike and explore including an overnight hiking option that would have been great to know about.Baboons come out in force near sunset so be careful with them.
Totally lived up the expections! From the lighthouse to the southest-west point of Arica, there is so much to do! The entry price is very high but definitely worth it. Plan at least 3-5 hours in the park if you want to do a proper visit. Anything under 3 hours will rush you to the point of not enjoying it. To know: There is a funicular that brings you up to the lighthouse and it closes 1 hour before the park closes. You will see a lot of Fauna. Please do not give them food and respect their environment. We had to stop for a few minutes on our way back because there was a lot of baboons in the streets. Ostriches also decided do run next to our car. Fantastic experience!!!
A must-see attraction in Cape Town, South Africa. I feel like Im on a planet other than Earth.
Beautiful landscape. Nice walks to the Cape Point and secluded beaches. Breathtaking scenery. Ample parking.
İlk adı Fırtınalar Burnu iken geden gelen olmamış, sonra adı ÜMİT Burnu olarak revize edilmiş. Eski dünya ve kara toprağın bittiği yer.Named the ‘Cape of Storms’ by Bartolomeu Dias in 1488; the ‘Point’ was treated with respect by sailors for centuries. By day, it was a navigational landmark and by night, and in fog, it was a menace beset by violent storms and dangerous rocks that over the centuries littered shipwrecks around the coastline.Cape Point is in the Cape of Good Hope nature reserve within Table Mountain National Park, which forms part of the Cape Floral Region, a World Heritage Site. It includes the majestic Table Mountain chain, which stretches from Signal Hill to Cape Point, and the coastlines of the Cape Peninsula.
Its just beautiful! Remember to take your South African IDs if you are a local to get the reduced entry fee.I took family from overseas and they were just amazed at the views, the animals and our fynbos.
The views here are amazing. Many trails and sights to see. Every turn has something to see. Plan on spending a full day if you like walking around.
The Cape of Good Hope is a rocky headland on the Atlantic coast of the Cape Peninsula in South Africa. A common misconception is that the Cape of Good Hope is the southern tip of Africa, based on the misbelief that the Cape was the dividing point between the Atlantic and Indian oceans.
A MUST! Lots to see and do. The freshest air in the world! I did the tour bus which was fine but renting a car and being able to stop longer would be the best way to do the trip!!!
It is an amazing place to visit. The beauty of the refs and the sea color breath taken.
It was originally called the Cape of Storms by the Portuguese in the 1480s. It was later renamed Good Hope in order to attract more people and trade to the Cape Sea route.
The view from the lighthouse is indescribable..Just take note:There is a "boarder gate" with an entrance feeentrance closes at 5 pm.I had to go twice because the 1st time we were late. And lastly, this is not two oceans its 2 currents. We opted to walk up and take the train down, and it was soooo worth it.
The most amazing view I’ve ever seen in mylife. A must see in Cape Town. Worth every drive and walk. WORTH A FLYING 🇿🇦
Must do if you are in Cape Town, we spent a solid 3 hours down there and went on 2 hikes, drove around and looked at some artifacts and old buildings, and saw Ostriches and Goats during our ride. Funicular was really cool, we got almost bombarded by a Baboon but the server had a slingshot ready at the hip. Highly recommend spending some time down here.
Spectacular place to visit a must do when in Cape Town. It is th he most South Western point of Africa🌍
The scenic walk was steel but sooo rewarding.I went on a Monday mod morning and ended up being alone - which made me feel like I was alone at the edge of the world 💕couldnt get better than that.Wear sneakers or hiking shoes and take a windbreaker. Also a drive through the side roads to appreciate the flora and fauna and expanse and beauty. The roads were in fantastic condition. Also check weather if you want to visit the lighthouse- unless you want to feel like you are inside a cloud- coz you will be lolThe restaurant is closed and only the takeaway is open.
Important tips. It’s quite expensive for non South African residents check the prices before you goThe restaurant at the time of review had. O alcohol. It was due to their licenseBe aware of baboons! I saw one enter the shop and steal two bags of chips.Take the Funicular up and down. Don’t waste your time walking and it’s cheap.Best time to go is weekdaysMake sure to also check out the other roads along the beach. The Cape of good hope is not just the lighthouse. The road the to the beach has a lot of big wildlife.
A high blowing wind area needed to be experienced. A good place to be when needed to see the nature of the ocean
A beautiful experience out in nature, taking in the breathtaking views. The seals were a treat to watch & hear. The lighthouse views were spectacular.
This place is very nice. The thing which makes me disappointed is the entrance fee. It is just over expensive and in that price is included just entrance through one gate. At this price, I can enjoy a lot of different fun, etc. Yes, the landscape is beautiful but the same is also around where is it for free. Anyway, this place isn’t that place where I want to go twice. Even one time is not worthy 🤷♀️
Cape of Good Hope..The Most South-Western Point on the African Continent.Previously known as the Cape of Storms due to the violent storms in the area and the multitude of rocks that wrecked multiple ships, the name was changed after Vasco Da Gama discovered the sailing route from Europe around Cape Point to India. (Note- he wasnt the first to sail to Cape Point.)The discovery of the new shipping route was cause for Optimism- hence the name "Good Hope".I liked the old name better- more melodramatic 😂The preserve holds some of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world due to the different Currents from the Atlantic and Pacific- yes the oceans dont meet here. The cliffs are beacons urging you up- and views up there are totally worth it. Just watch your footing when scrambling up- a few loose rocks sometimes. The scenic walk is truly Scenic 😊And the wildlife.. always there to say hi.Totally worth the trip.. I always come a couple of times each year.If youre South African and resident in Cape Town, Id advise a wildlife Green Card- its totally worth it.- see my other post.
It is a beautiful place. The walk to the lighthouse is a nice one. The wind was howling at the top. Just a reminder that we do not control everything. We enjoyed the visit tremendously. 🤗
Its a very nice 01:30 drive from Cape Town, all the way you can see and visit several Beaches . But once you get there you will have to pay each 20 EUROS to enter the park. Well I think its a bit expensive when you have already booked a car and all things a tourist pay visiting a country. In the park if you want to see the Light-House you have to pay to go -up again , or walk for free. Beautiful but this 20 euros I think was not necessary ...
Breath-taking views, with some awesome hiking trials to do and ostriches, baboons along the way... definitely a must visit place when in Cape Town... absolutely stunning 😍
Took a helicopter ride round the Cape and its super worth it. This Cape Of Good Hope was emphasized in my history book and nothings better than seeing with my own eyes!! Love it!
Incredible , Most spectacular place.Great to explore. If you are looking for a relaxing break away. This is the place.
